I was here in the summer with my husband and parents-in-law and with had coffee and cake in the garden which was delicious, but i especially enjoyed the handmade the cookies that came with the coffee 🍪😍. My father in law bought a box but it wasn’t the same cookie 🙁. The surroundings were lovely and peaceful (until the helicopter arrived 😄) I am writing this review now, as will be going back over Christmas, so have my fingers crossed for the cookies😜

We went to the restaurant last night as our first night in the area, it was a recommendation from where we are staying. The service was absolutely appalling, the staff were rude and disinterested in actually providing any type of service We were met with disdain and ignorance. We were forgotten about several times, with the staff more interested in speaking with another member of staff who was eating in the restaurant. I ordered sirloin steak medium rare which when arrived wasn’t sirloin and was cooked well done. The website proclaims that you will be greeted with a warm welcome….. the staff were put out we were there and couldn’t care less about any standard of service. I would avoid at all costs, the staff are rude and the food is substandard for the price they charge.

Went in for Lunch on a Monday, 4 of us we were treated to amazing meals all cooked perfectly and each one to our individual taste. We were all delighted with our main meals. We all had dessert and they were all really good and excellent value given the sizes. We would recommend this pub to eat in. We are here on holiday and will be returning this week again.

Angie is a wonderful host. She makes the difference between a place to visit and a place one wishes to return to. Lovely rooms, which are warm and well laid out with very good toiletries. Good local walks and good local pubs. The breakfast was noteworthy - hot, tasty and well served.

A winter's weekday lunchtime is probably not the best time to assess a pub. The service & staff were excellent. The food, ham egg & chips was ok although a touch expensive (probably not for the New Forest). Sadly Flacks was the only draught ale on tap, which as per normal was too citrusy for my taste (bring back Ringwood Best or better still 49'er!) Overall the ambiance (real fire/cosy bar), help to lift the rating.

Thought we'd try this pub, to put forward as a recommendation for 2 NF luxury holiday rentals. The food was excellent but the service was ruined by one waitress. She sat us down and forgot to provide menus or take a drinks order. Others diners arrived after us and were instantly taken care of by other staff. They received very attentive service, and their food was being served before we had chance to place our order. As a result, a member of our party walked through the main restaurant to the bar to get somebody to take our drinks and to see the menus. We ordered wine to go with the main meal. That didn't arrive. Our side dish was very late coming out and the wine was served after 2 separate requests and came half way through the meal! (The waitress returning at one point to ask which wine we wanted, having taken the order herself originally). We had to chase to get a person to take our dessert order and again to pay the bill. It was as though we were invisible! In the end we went to the bar to pay ... and were charged twice for the wine! The side room was not very warm and yet the pub had been open for several hours. It just goes to show that you can serve lovely food but if you fail to train your front of house, you lose custom.

What a brilliant pub! A beautiful part of the New Forest.. Stunning inside and outside. Easy to park. Delicious food. Generous portions. Great prices for food and drinks. Dog friendly. Excellent staff. Going back tonight for food and Christmas carols.

My friends and I visited on a Sunday afternoon from out of town at a local’s recommendation. I loved the atmosphere - lots of plants, lots of seating. There weren’t many customers, so it wasn’t loud. We were hoping for afternoon tea, but sadly it is not available on Sundays. Some of us got the Sunday Roasts instead. More in our party (of 10) would have liked to try the Sunday Roast, but they only sold it to some of us due to limited staff & presumably limited ingredients. The rest ordered sandwiches. I’m sorry to say I was not impressed with the starter or main course (the meat, potatoes and vegetables were a bit dry), but I did enjoy the crème brûlée for dessert. Afterward, we visited a gin distillery around the corner. They allowed us samples, and I was impressed with the flavor and smoothness.
