A lovely hidden gem of a hotel, yes it's a bit faded, but it's relaxing, has better kept gardens than most National Trust gardens....a genuinely nice place

Always helpful, nothing is to much trouble, comfy hotel. We are in the middle of a 3 night stay, and already I want to tell others how this hotel feels like a big hug. Our room, specifically chosen, has a large roll top bath which I have relaxed in twice already. The location means it is very quiet. A suitably equipped gym and small indoor pool permit the exercise regime to continue, but we have already supplemented this with a walk across the forest to a small brewery north of Lymington. As a base for New Forest exploration, I would recommend. As a stop and restore your batteries, I would recommend. The clientele while we were there was a mix of families, retired couples, young couples and single business people, so you will not feel out of place. All of the staff give 100, name badges noticed so far include Ami and Amber, but all staff have been excellent.

Nice old building. Rooms area badly in need of a refurbishment. Service and breakfast however were very very good indeed. Useful to have 2 x 11kw EV chargers.

I was here in the summer with my husband and parents-in-law and with had coffee and cake in the garden which was delicious, but i especially enjoyed the handmade the cookies that came with the coffee 🍪😍. My father in law bought a box but it wasn’t the same cookie 🙁. The surroundings were lovely and peaceful (until the helicopter arrived 😄) I am writing this review now, as will be going back over Christmas, so have my fingers crossed for the cookies😜

Fantastic stay, the grounds were well kept and peaceful. Our rooms were clean and spacious, The breakfasts delicious with a wide choice available. Staff were helpful and informative. Both pools were delightful and although a little cool the children had a great time. Dinners were delicious my only wish was a wider choice for those who stay a week or more. We look forward to returning in the future.

We had a superb one night midweek stay. The building is olde worlde charming, the room we had was huge with some really nice touches, the staff and service are super friendly and the food is top class. It punches well above its weight overall for very sensible rates.

We had high hopes from the previous reviews but it didn't really live up to them. Felt a bit like stepping into a retirement home. And the sauna looks like its permanently out of order although there's no mention of that when you book... So that's quite disappointing and misleading. Also the jacuzzi has been hastily renamed to a dipping pool presumably because they don't want to fix it 😂 On the other hand the staff are very nice and the location is very pretty, croquet on the lawn is great 👍

Enjoyed a lovely few days. Staff very helpful. Food evenings excellent. Breakfast buffet OK, not always hot. Very quiet peaceful location, access roads narrow, beware potholes.

Lovely, quaint hotel with large rooms which feels quite historic. Extremely peaceful with lovely gardens, an indoor and outdoor pool, a tennis court, putting area and crochet. The staff are simply fabulous - polite & helpful. The food was lovely, well presented and hot and there is a lovely bar with an open fire, with other lounges for reading and playing games. Excellent for a quiet, relaxing break.

Only downfall was, I'd be woken up every morning by room service from knocking on the door. Other than that, service was excellent and the food was amazing compliments to the chef

The Cellar Tasting House & Wine Merchant in Lymington is a hidden gem that offers a cosy and inviting atmosphere. The knowledgeable team, led by owner, provides personalised recommendations that cater to individual tastes and budgets. The establishment maximises its space with a well-curated shop, a welcoming bar, intimate upstairs nooks, and a charming terrace. The extensive selection of wines and gins is impressive, making it one of the few bars worth travelling over an hour to experience. For serious wine and spirit enthusiasts, this is a must-visit destination.

The Potting Shed in Hyde… well. Where to begin. This was our third time eating here and as per the first two occasions the food was exquisite! Some context… We live in Essex and have had a couple of trips to the New Forest for weekends away, on these trips we have traveled to The Potting Shed for breakfast on one of the days and the food and atmosphere has always been perfect. There is some magic in the herby mushrooms we are sure of it! Our latest visit to the New Forest was not a weekend away, it was a one day trip centred around having breakfast at The Potting Shed… that is correct folks… we drove 2 hours and 38 minutes to go and have breakfast at The Potting Shed and it was, as always, sublime! Did I mention the mushrooms? Eat here and you will not be disappointed. We heartily recommend The Potting Shed and driving over 2 hours to eat here testifies to that. We will be back!

As a table of 7, we felt neglected. It was like there was too many of us and no one wanted to look after us. It took a while for someone to even take our drinks order. It was also a long wait for our food too. No one checked back to see if the food was okay. We kept having to get waiters attention to order more drinks etc. The food was excellent, really yummy and it was lovely to have choice in one place. Waiters were lovely, just a long wait for food which was a bit annoying.

Popped in here on a recommendation from a friend who stayed here. Didn’t have nothing to eat but Everyone was happy and the staff were really helpful and courteous. Around at the back is where you can purchase the Cider, which is recommended. Reasonable prices considering its home grown produce. Plenty of parking. Came here again in December 2024 the cafe is now closed but the pantry around the back is still open.
