I stayed in the Vineyard Hotel during COVID before and the experience of that and the Visitors Centre was exemplary. Fast forward to 2025 when I returned with my parents and what a different experience it was. *Granted this latest review is about the Visitors Centre only (not the hotel)* Firstly the main café in the bright conservatory style room was devoid of food options, just soup and sandwiches were the savoury options! They did have lovely cake options however. Staff here were lovely though (just want to point that out). Move onto the gift shop where the staff were efficient, albeit a bit militant - so, lacked a bit of warmth which would make for a nicer experience in a countryside vineyard. Move onto the receptionist in the lobby who we were signposted to, to enquire about the tours and tastings. She appeared like back office staff at a desk hidden behind a computer. She didn't even offer any welcome as I approached. I had to commence the greetings before the query which made me feel distinctly like she wasn't the receptionist. She proceeded to engage me from behind the desk not making any attempt to come to the front desk which contained to make me feel like I was enquiring with the wrong person and was disturbing her. As I enquired about booking into the tasting and tour. She advised the tours don't start until the end of March and tastings are midday only. Completely contrary to what the website which stated the tours availability are "year round" and I told her this as it was the reason we decided to visit it that day. She seemed a little surprised but generally non fussed. Like "oh does it say that" well that's not correct. No apology for the misinformation nor any urgency to take note and ensure the information is corrected on the website. I was so unimpressed with the customer service and felt, for the visitors centre, they didn't want any visitors at all! Come on Denbies, you can do better.

Lovely place for a coffee and refreshments after a long walk. Really nicely decorated with helpful and capable staff. Selection of cakes and pastries with hot food also available. Will visit again. Also noticed that there are rooms available to stay.

Gallery restaurant, Denbies, Dorking, Surrey It started with the restaurant manager being difficult about opening windows on a hot Mother’s day afternoon. There was no a la carte menu, just a 3 course meal for £39.95 (which wasn’t made clear at booking with an annoying £10 per head deposit). The prawns were miniscule and the 1000 island dressing, hardly there. The leek and watercress soup clearly had never seen a leek and tasted more like fish stew. One and a half hours after we first sat down, the main course arrived. I do enjoy a roast sirloin of British Beef but not when adulterated with garlic (which wasn’t mentioned on the menu). Lucky I am not allergic to garlic. Most restaurants enquire about allergies when taking the order but not this one. The vegetables were hardly cooked and difficult to cut. No sauces or condiments were offered. Apparently, you have to ask. Sadly, I hardly ate anything of my roast dinner. We decided not to go for a desert, and management kindly let us have the 2 courses for £32. All mothers were given a small bunch of daffodils except for our two. We did ask and begrudgingly received two. I couldn’t wait to get out. Never again.

I was looking for somewhere in this area for afternoon tea. I couldn’t see a menu so emailed and was sent one quickly. This looked good as it had some interesting options, and a selection of savouries. So I booked for a friend’s birthday, but what we got was very standard, with no sausage rolls etc. I see the photo of the afternoon tea for Mother’s Day on Facebook shows ‘the full works’, but I wouldn’t bank on that being what you’d get. I did email afterwards with this feedback, but had no response. I’d suggest going elsewhere.

Lovely little bike shop. Popped in here to buy a few odds n' ends for my bike. Hard working couple in the shop. Scorching hot day but cool inside and purchased a tasty coffee to takeaway.

A part of the restaurant of this charming pub was booked for a small family wedding reception . We couldn’t have been better looked after or fed any better. Preparations a week prior were all laid out and on the day nothing could have been done better. Food was absolutely excellent including a vegetarian option . Service was spot on, with all home cooked food . Well done for old fashioned service good food and drink at a fair price .

Visited on Tuesday, we were meeting halfway between Windsor and the South Coast with friends. We didn't want a full hot meal however the alternatives were scarce and poor. 2 soups one looked unappetising and the other was empty so we went for a sandwich. The only choices were beef or sausage and egg. Hubby doesn't do egg so went for the beef. I had chips only. Beef was tough and the crusts inedible. I told the staff that the carrot soup was empty whilst first at the servery so after discarding the beef sandwich I went back expecting it to be refilled. I was wrong and when I asked again was told it would be 2 minutes. 10 minutes later I was offered the soup straight from the kitchen. A roll was offered and butter but I had to ask for this. By the time I managed to eat my food coffee and chips were cold. Overpriced and underwhelming with poor alternatives to hot food. We will not be back
