Booked for about 20 people for my birthday. Food was great, we had a table outside under a cover with a lovely view. All the staff were extremely polite and accommodating. There were a lot of us but every staff member was on the ball and it all went very smoothly. A lovely pub, would go again ☺️

We drove here for a Sunday roast lunch and the food was incredible. They said they are famous for their gravy and I can see why. It was so rich and tasty. The staff were wonderful, so friendly and attentive. Having read other reviews, I was concerned about parking, and indeed there is no car park. You have to find somewhere nearby. We parked 5 mins away on Old London Road, which was fine for us.

Beautiful place, great food and incredible staff

Visited on the 4th February for a Roast and a visit yesterday for a Drink reminded what great service we received from Eliza. The roast was just right when we came in for the Beef about a month ago, real care and thought had gone into what a traditional roast should be, the team had delivered a great plate. The views are fantastic from the garden and everyone is lovely there. The customer service makes a big difference and will ensure we come back time and time again, Eliza is a great asset to your team.

My friend and I had a lovely lunch at the King William today. Bella was so great. She was attentive, friendly and had great recommendations for the menu.

Cosy and welcoming little pub nestling on the side of Mickleham Downs. Good food and a very nice pint of Shere Drop. Pleasant Terrace with heaters outside but definitely cosier inside in the winter. Good place to go for a wander to from Box Hill.

Everything about our visit was cracking and the food was superb. The one and only reason for the star deduction was purely because we had to ask for the bill 3 times. We will 100% be looking for an opportunity to return though

Fantastic country pub with seating inside and outside. There is covering on some of the outside seating on less sunny days. Very dog-friendly. The view is fabulous, as is the food. Superb roasts, ploughman’s and desserts with a good selection of drinks. This place pairs beautifully with the plethora of gorgeous walks and rides all around the area. Booking at the weekend is strongly advised - it’s rightfully very popular.

It’s definitely not a destination, more a passing place. Incredibly high footfall through various doors despite being able to fit maybe 20 people max in the bar area and it was SO cold in there - constant door openings in every direction. Food was pretty dire if I’m honest. Pics and vids added as I have no words for the disappointment after waiting a very long time. Service was fine although witness a few wrong orders. Dog friendly. Nice views. Definitely wouldn’t hurry back here.

Food was very nice I was with two others. Was on a Sunday and had to book. Had two roast beefs and a roast lamb for mains and calamari to start.. Could not fault the food. Staff friendly and accommodating. Just could be a little more attentive as we found we had to ask for knives forks and and other items... It was pretty busy. Would go again.

Great food and friendly staff. We booked a table for 14 for Saturday lunch and everyone’s food was delicious . Good selection or dishes and the deserts were amazing ! would highly recommend.

This was the best roast dinner ever Myself and my adult children had a wonderful evening in this restaurant/pub The landlord was very warm welcoming,the waitress coping well with 8 of us and the chef amazing food We will return !!!!!!!

As always, our recent visit was perfect! The staff are always very friendly and helpful, and the lovely youngsters always welcome us with a smile and have a very pleasant attitude. The food is always amazing (the lamb roast is out of this world), and the delicious desserts never fail to please. In the warmer weather it is such a pleasure to sit outside on the delightful terrace with beautiful views, and when the weather turns colder, the interior is always warm and cosy, especially when the fire is going strong! It's a pleasure all year round to eat at the wonderful King William IV.

What a find... Situated in the foothills of Boxhill, this stunning little pub was a great find. Booked for a table of 5 and this venue was superb. The food choice was excellent, well presented and more importantly, extremely tasty. The service was friendly and the costs was extremely well priced. Parking was a tad diffiult but we knew this before attending so we were not surprised and it didn't cause a problem. I would highly recommend a visit and if I'm ever down that way in the future, I'll be making a return trip.

A lovely public house, worth a visit after a ramble or even a special treat. Be aware though it is built on an incline, I suggest walking shoes.

Richard’s service was brilliant and great to talk to, food was also nice. The complimentary banoffee pie was a surprise for our anniversary.

Nice location with a beautiful view. The food was OK. Most of the group had a Sunday roast. Potatoes could have been a bit softer (I have teeth and I struggled!) and gravy tasted quite acidic. The beef was cooked nicely. Mulled wine was served lukewarm. We let the waitress know, but nothing was really done to rectify the situation. If you pay £6.95 for a glass of mulled wine, the expectation is that you will get hot mulled wine or an offer to reheat it. I did find it quite pricey on par with pubs in London but the pubs in London serve better food for the money. Would I return? Probably not.

This pub is perfect all year round - cosy in the winter and stunning views from the garden in the summer. Lunch today was fantastic - the food was spot on (we had a mix of burgers, pies and salads on our table) and the service friendly (special shout out to Richard for this). Tips: do book ahead as it’s popular and do take cash for tips as, whilst you can pay by card, only cash tips are accepted and they are well-deserved.

Great pub in a nice setting. The only negative surprise was the gents, which was a tad old fashioned. Lots of atmos inside and a lovely garden. Can't comment on the food too much as we only had a cheese board. I did, however, look on enviously at the Sunday roasts that were coming out. Staff very welcoming and professional and we had really good service from Richard. Booking a must on Sundays though.

Steep hill and steps to get to the pub but nice traditional pub with good views

Went for a nice walk nr Boxhill and stumbled across this wonderful pub. Thought we’d get turned away as we had a dog and hadn’t booked. On the contrary, Richard was incredibly welcoming and thanks to him and Chloe we ended up having two adult roast dinners, two kids meals and two rounds of drinks. They were more than happy for me to try two different ales before ordering my preferred pint. We sat outside overlooking the Surrey hills as the sun went down. We had such a nice time. Thank you guys! They even bought over a bowl of water and some dog biscuits for our dog!

A perfect spot for a Sunday roast. Blankets were a nice touch for an otherwise chilly night, and the attentive staff, namely Richard, made sure to keep the beers flowing.

Versteckt gelegen, finden es nur die, die wissen wo es ist. Ein Besuch lohnt. Der große Biergarten ist gemütlich und in diverse "Eckchen" unterteilt. Der Ausblick ist super. Die Auswahl an Speisen und Getränken ist gut. Preislich kann man es nicht als günstig beschreiben. Der Service stößt bei viel Betrieb an seine Grenzen, ist aber freundlich und zuvorkommend. Der Parkplatz ist ca. 50 Meter vom Restaurant entfernt und liegt an der Hauptstraße.

Stopped off here for a drink during a walk through the Surrey Hills. Good selection of beers here and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I was also amazed to find they had a live band on playing jazz which was great. The outside garden is amazing with a really wonderful view. I would definitely like to come back again.

Excellent meals and friendly prompt service in delightful surroundings.

This is an authentic English pub with lots of charm and stunning views. The service was very good when we visited. The garden is lovely. Inside is very traditional. There is plenty of parking at the bottom of the hill. The food is standard pub fare, not gastro/gourmet and priced fairly reasonably. One of our meals (the teriyaki chicken thighs) was super generous and very tasty. The other was ham, egg and chips. We were expecting thick cut ham of the bone, but it was a meagre portion and very thinly sliced. The eggs were overcooked, and the chips were ok but not homemade. We shared a pudding, but it was a strange version of a banoffee pie and a very small portion. This was disappointing but will probably give this cute pub another visit.

On the way back from the hiking, we found this pub. It is a lovely place on the hill with a great view. Today is very sunny so it is crowded. There is live music by the local band which is lovely and give extra vibe for the place. We ordered small plates chips and calamari; both were really nice. Calamari is one of the best for the pub foods that we had. We really recommend a pint. The staffs are very responsive and service is quite fast even though it is crowded.

Had a waiter called Harry, perfect service. when I asked for help from Micheal, he was lousy and ineffective. Lovely pint, chef was superb.

Used to frequent this place regularly but it lost 'something' it used to have after it was sold a few years ago. Not sure if it has changed hands again since we last visited about 1.5- 2 years ago, but it has that 'something' back now. Extremely attentive and polite table waiting staff, great food and fair prices. The garden setting is the same but now more covers to keep the rain off which is great. Our last visit won us back as regulars. Two mains, two ciders and 1 cheeseboard dessert just over £51. Service not included on the bill, so a well earned tip was given. Well done whoever runs this place now.

Came to this place because of good reviews hoping to have a nice dinner with friends. Unfortunately it was a disappointing experience. Food was poor quality, fish of the day out of stock, and one of the dishes contained ingredients not listed on the menu. Service was friendly and the place overall looked cozy but we came there for food which did not meet our expectations.

We visited this pub after doing the Box Hill walk. Come here for the ambience (overlooking the hills) and be pleasantly surprised by the quality of the excellent menu and selection of beverages. Service here was attentive and friendly. The ideal pub to refuel mid or post-walk - will definitely visit here when in the Box Hill area.
