Very average meal, used to be really nice but seems like it’s changed hands. London priced food, but tasted not great. Would avoid in the future. Very limited menu.

Excellent meal and friendly service.

First time visiting this restaurant/pub and came for a very rare date night with my wife and thoroughly enjoyed it. The views on the veranda are amazing and extra special on a summers evening, the food was really good especially the desert that was on the specials (the chocolate, fudge and cream) but the highlight for both me and ny wife was the service, Elaine was kind, attentive and just an absolute pleasure to share our experience with a fantastic example of what great service looks like. Will definitely be back when time allows and recommend to all for dinner and drinks. Special thanks to Elane!

Absolutely delicious breakfast with an incredible view over Box Hill! Elaine was super friendly and welcoming, we couldn't have asked for a better waitress! The food is quite pricey but you are guaranteed a fresh meal made with the top quality ingredients. You'll see me again for sure :)

It's an odd atmosphere in the Watermill and I can't quite put my finger on why. Food is expensive and really not very good. I won't rush to return.

Highly recommend!! I have drove past this pub so many times and finally went in for some food. Was not disappointed! We got a table in the garden and the view was beautiful! All the staff were extremely friendly, especially Elaine who served us! We both had the Steak Ciabatta for lunch with Rosemary salted chips and they were amazing!! I will definitely be coming back!

I had such a lovely experience at the Watermill. It was my first time visiting. My friend and I were on a little day road trip and googled the place on our way back to London. Food was delicious, the atmosphere was cozy and the interior was on a high end including the restroom area. I am looking forward to coming again now that I know about it.

Had a fabulous lazy late lunch with friends and family. Very well looked after by Elaine who made our experience memorable and special. Recommend this place very highly for both food quality, good provencale rose....and Elaine's friendly and fabulous service.

I hate leaving poor reviews but I feel after 3 or so quite poor visits something needs to be said. 1. we checked in before the table was ready, we were not told when table was to be ready, when we came to ask when table would be ready(30 or so mins later), they said we'd missed our booking and it was now the lunch menu. 2. we were then asked to wait at the check in a table for a member of staff to seat us, staff came over and said we'd have to wait for a manager. We sat as no one seemed to be coming over. 5 mins a Manager arrived, hello can I help, explained what had happened, lots of apologies and we were then seated. 20 mins or so passed no one came to take our order. 3. I had to get up(again) and ask for someone to come and take our order, someone arrives to take our order. *Understand at this point we'd been here for over an hour, we were going to the football, we had now had 3 pints each and the day was already not going as planned. Food arrives, 2 of the 3 meals, 3rd meal arrives later. The burger was ok, the chips with the fish and chips was not cooked brilliantly and the fish smelled weird. After briefly consuming what we could we decided to call it a day, paid and left. Over the past 4 visits we've had many free drinks, 2 whole free meals, all gifted to apologise for the continuous mistakes made.. I'm sorry but we will not be returning. There is such a huge choice of other places to eat locally, we'll be going there...

Celebrated my Mum’s birthday here today. Sat at the back (not quite warm enough for us to sit on the beautiful terrace) which has stunning views of Box Hill. Gorgeous food served by the delightful Elaine who treated us so well and made a lovely fuss of my Mum. 3 veggie main choices which is great for me. Oh! Gorgeous crockery too (Churchills in case you were wondering like I was!) We will be back for sure!

Our regular restaurant, where we always come for lunchime restaurant meals . A delightful place to come to, with bar and outdoor area with a great view of Box Hill. We particularly love their fish and chips, but today I had a tasty lunchtime snack mackerel fishcake with poached egg and chips! Parking good and we never have any trouble finding a space. Elaine and Paula who usually serve us are lovely ladies who really make you feel welcome.

Beautiful pub, amazing scenic views from the pub garden. Every member of staff were accommodating to everyone's requirements. Very relaxed mood throughout, dog friendly and the food was absolutely top tier 👌 will definitely be back

The food was excellent and the service was spot on. While it’s slightly on the pricier side — £82 for four brunch dishes and four coffees — the quality and overall experience made it worth it. I’d definitely come back. All in all, a great spot for a tasty, well-executed brunch.

The atmosphere was pleasant and restaurant was quite busy, but the food was a real disappointment. It seems as though the fish and chips were cooked in really old oil as neither the fish and chips looked or tasted fresh. A replacement fish dish was tasteless, but at least the price was taken off the bill. Desert was also underwhelming. Sticky toffee pudding was lukewarm and not particularly tasty. Nice location and pleasant ambiance, but food was a severe let down. And ultimately, we go out for decent food. I have emailed the address below, but so far no response.

Really nicely decorated and cosy. Views great. But we were astonished by the prices. A glass of house white and a pint of local beer, nearly £18!!

We had a wonderful Easter Sunday lunch at The Watermill. Everything was absolutely delicious, from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were all incredibly friendly. This was my first time visiting the Watermill, the food was delicious and we chose to sit outside with the beautiful view of Box Hill and the smell of the lilac trees which was glorious. Elaine was absolutely lovely and couldn’t do enough for us. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Paid a deposit £10 each for 14 people and 2 children, the final bill caused confusion as there was 7 couples. Some people left earlier than others but eventually they worked it out. The staff were fantastic, super accommodating and friendly, and made the evening really enjoyable for everyone. Particularly our waiter Pete, who was absolutely brilliant. We went for a birthday meal on a beautifully sunny Saturday afternoon..food was great service was even better Elaine was an absolute delight and as always the view was stunning!

A disappointing visit. The server was aggressive, unnecessarily so - continuously interrupting our conversation to hassle us to make an order having said take your time, even though our drinks had not yet arrived. And again to check we we’re ok, then again if we wanted desert. When we asked for some bread the server said if it didn’t arrive quickly he’d go and bash someone to make it happen. And we believed he probably would… The food was ok. The view of Box Hill was spectacular. The bill was way more than expected for two starters and two mains, two rounds of drinks totting up to over £140.

Went here on the off chance when we were in the area for a walk and what a great decision! The view from outside is beautiful, the food was delicious and the service was the best we’ve had! Daniel and Elaine were so welcoming and Elaine even took the time on a busy Saturday to put a candle in our desert for my birthday as a surprise. Thank you for your hospitality, cannot recommend enough!

Mother’s Day disaster. Drove past this place lots of times and was exited to come for Mother’s Day. We sat down and had to wait about 20mins for a drink order. We ordered our starters and food straight away as we didn’t want to wait too long if the drinks took this long. After 45 mins our starters arrived. The sauces all had a skin on them from being left under the hot light to long. My daughter’s hummus came out last and was a dark green. Thought it was a mistake but was told it was correct . Let me tell you it was no hummus! The mains then took another 35 mins and when they came ,The kids sausage ,mash And gravy had a skin. The two adult mains was good but took too long to come out. We was told all our drinks would be taken off and the dessert would be free. We got the desserts , one was frozen solid in the middle and they had left 3 of the drinks on the bill. By this time we had enough and wanted to leave . We had paid a deposit for the meal and this was also forgotten to be taken off the final bill. Will be the first and last time we visit this establishment, pity as we had expected good things .

We booked here for my sister in laws birthday meal. Unfortunately this was not the pleasurable experience that we imagined. We had 2 elderly people with us (aged 84 & 90) No one was at front of house to meet & greet. We waited about 10 mins & had to find an alternate table to wait. Our table wasn’t ready. This was a very busy Saturday so ensure you have enough staff. We waited at least 20 mins to give our drinks order then another 20 mins for the drinks The food was mediocre The service was poor My sister in laws birthday was not mentioned; we’d written this on the booking Upon complaint the £55 service charge was taken off We still left something as I know how hard the staff work. The watermill needs to get it right. It is set in beautiful surroundings & I am pretty sure with the correct structure they could get it right other places do.

The meat roasts on the Sunday we went were wonderful. Unfortunately, my wife had a vegetarian option which was underwhelming. The portion was small and one of the pieces not fully cooked. The manager very kindly sorted a free plate of a veg dish but by that time it was too little too late. They really need to up their game for vegetarians.

Unfortunately, our visit this time was not the best. The service was terrible, and we were there for over 3 hours. Three other tables sat near us arrived after us and were able to leave before us. From being given a high chair to receiving our food and drinks, everything was very slow. We were very disappointed and did receive an apology from the manager of duty, but will not be returning.

Amazing food, our waiter Jack was hands-down one of the best waiters we’ve ever had. From the moment we were seated, he made us feel genuinely welcome and well taken care of. His timing was perfect — always there when we needed something, but never intrusive. He knew the menu inside and out, gave fantastic recommendations, and made sure every detail was spot-on. Friendly, professional, and incredibly attentive.

Food starters was very slow to come out. Confusion with bar staff as to whether you can order food in the bar or not. Bill had items added on which we didn't order. All in all food was adequate not amazing. Bar is nice enough but I wouldn't be rushing back there. There are restaurants and pubs where the food and service is much better for the same price point.

Went to the Watermill this morning and typically it let me down again so felt like I had to say something. - Upon arrival we weren’t shown to a table, just pointed in a direction. - Menu’s were never brought over, had to find them ourselves. - Breakfast tea was cold, and the mugs given were dirty. - When the drinks were brought over they just left them on the tray in the middle of the table. - The table was never cleared, and we had to go and find them to ask for the bill. It wasn’t even busy, so baffled at what the staff are doing. This place has such huge potential, however the service really lets it down. I want this to be a place we can go to regularly but the last few times, these same issues keep coming up. Please please please use this review as a realisation for change!

Upset stomach and it’s all I ate yesterday! Running to the toilet all night and terrible vcrps this morning still… and this after I complained about the sharing platter for 2 people at the restaurant yesterday, got 2 teaspoons of lamb mince in a small pudding bowl with a dried out piece of bread and slices of garlic pizza( not flat breads as on menu) it was as taken care of by the restaurant supervisor and after a long wait got half a bowl of lamb mince - overall not the greatest but edible - but makes you wonder what happened with this meal because o dared to complain and now i got ill from it. I couldn’t eat last night felt too ill. My cousins small plate was a small plate but not great tasting either. The bly good thing about the place was the views. It’s nice decor but the place lights and deck and cushions needs a good old clean!! Will never return don’t know what the hype about the place is tbh

Booked a table for dinner, parking was impossible then once we finally got in staff completely ignored us and were more interested in speaking to their mates. Ended up walking out and having a great meal elsewhere.

Visiting Dorking and need a lunch stop, I changed across the Windmill in Google. It was lovely. Big, spacious, with indoor and outdoor zones, pleasant both day and after dark. Service was exceptionally good - professional, polite, but also warm and friendly. The food was great too - had the best fish pie I've ever had. I was chaperoning my Mum to a friend's funeral, and we stopped here for lunch before heading to the church (we're from far away near Welsh border). Could not have been happier.

Great vibe, delicious food, lovely decor throughout especially the bathroom! Came for a lunch with my friend for a long over due catch up, our waitress Elaine (I am very nearly sure that was her name) was sooo lovely and patient as we took an age to actually look at the menu to order due to catching up! Definitely be back.

Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Premises were clean and well appointed. Service was first class. Food was delicious. Good parking. Terrace at the back. Set back off the main road but lovely views of the Surrey Hills to the rear.

Excellent selection of beers, staff friendly and helpful. Tuesday night was quiet until we arrived. Motley selection of retired firefighters all from the same training course in 1991. Sorry, one of us got very excited and couldn't stop shouting. 🙄

Amazing Roast at The Watermill! Just got back from The Watermill and had the best Sunday roast and dessert! Everything was spot on, and we all loved it. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Huge thanks to Peter and Holly for looking after us – they were great! I'm dairy-free, and they made sure everything was perfect for me, which was fantastic. Totally recommend it and can’t wait to go back!

Went for some drinks and nibbles after work, the staff were lovely, welcoming and very helpful with food suggestions. We sat in the lounge area by the fire, it felt like home! Food was delicious and service couldn't have quicker. 10/10!

I love this place. It's our favourite pub in Dorking. It's really nice and warm in the winter and perfect to sit outside with views of Box Hill in the summer. Lovely staff!

We visited on sunday for a roast dinner and our server Isabelle was lovely! i have a peanut allergy and she was so helpful and was able to answer any questions i had about the food. Another server also came up to us and checked to make sure our food was okay (potentially the manager?) and he was also very friendly!! the roast dinner itself was delicious! such good quality food! would highly recommend the Watermill!!

Very good atmosphere and vibe for relaxed afternoon and evening drinks and then returning for breakfast was great the next morning. Service from Elaine at breakfast was exceptional, warm and very friendly person. Who went above and beyond to provide a top experience.

Just visited the watermill for the first time and was very pleasantly surprised. Popped in for an early evening meal with family and had a great meal and served by a warm and welcoming team.

We enjoyed a lovely roast dinner at the Watermill. The staff were friendly and food arrived quite quickly. The roast beef was perfectly cooked and quite tender, with a large variety of vegetables. The Yorkies were handmade and huge -bonus for the kids! the pub has a lovely views of the Surrey hills and we found it a lovely place to relax and enjoy our food. We will defiantly come back.

Hit and miss experience. Food generally good but my burger appeared to be frozen, not the lovely beef shin that was advertised. Manager friendly as always but waiting staff visibly overworked and quite grumpy. Wouldn’t say it was the experience we had hoped for celebrating a 40th birthday.
