Watermill Inn in Mole Valley

We visited over the weekend for our 1 year anniversary and thought we would return as it was where we visited for our first date. Great service from the bar staff when arriving for a pre dinner drink. The host was also very energetic and polite when greeting and seating us to our table. Our waiter however wasn't particularly attentive as made no real effort for making and real effort to introduce himself or show interest in ourselves more or less just appeared with a device in hand to take our order, no offer of another drink or anything we were just left to it. The house sharing board was very pleasant starter with great flavour and presentation. Upon ordering another round of drinks where my girlfriend ordered a pinot noir was served a pinot grigio which isn't even of the same type of wine... 10 minutes later we recieved the correct wine and proceeded to mains. For myself I had the T bone which was asked for medium rare of which the fillet was however the rest was more medium well, I had to ask for a steak knife and also to be given my sauce I had ordered of which I got at what felt like a snails pace and my butter had likely been sat on the pass for some time, my mushroom was dehydrated and impossible to cut or chew and my onion ring was soggy as it was sat under my tomato.... My girlfriend had the special which needed a bit more jus and the game unfortunately was luke warm but flavour wise very impressive! No desserts however a waitress we had asked to get our bill from seemed to catch our eye through the entire experience as she was either chewing gum or had eaten something in the kitchen and not finished chewing before returning to the floor. We paid our bill and returned to the bar for 1 last drink before heading home.

This place is AMAZING! Met my friend for a “girlie” lunch and catch up and could’ve quite happily stayed all evening too! From the initial welcome to the brilliant and fun service from Elaine, who I might add is the BEST waitress on the planet and a massive asset to the company! The food was outstanding, my venison was soooo delicious and melt in the mouth, our sweets wee scrumptious and all round fabulous value for this quality of food and service! The atmosphere is warm, fun and welcoming and we will be back! Highly recommend 😊

We had a nice meal here after watching Jimmy Carr, The Watermill is our local but we don’t come here too often as have had some very disappointing delays with food in the past. We did have a great time last week though, the waiter was a young, keen and attentive young man with a great attitude. The older chap who took are bill seemed a little less friendly and was very keen to get the payment and for us to maybe leave.l but it was later in the evening. Food was enjoyed but we have to comment on the bacon ketchup - it wasn’t a hit and tasted very odd, maybe off? Not sure if bacon fat has just been poured into it but was not even expected ( the menu didn’t mention it!) We do love the decor inside and hope to come in again and have more great food.

I had a fantastic dining experience at The Watermill in Dorking! The food was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a relaxed meal. The manager Daniel went above and beyond to ensure I had a great time, even offering me a complimentary glass of wine. It’s rare to find such genuine customer care these days, and it made all the difference. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for amazing food and top-notch service. Can’t wait to come back!

Can't make a pot of tea to save their lives

Was at the Watermill today for a meal. The food was great and the venue is clean, spacious and welcoming. What made it exceptional was the standard of the staff. Very friendly and professional, a special mention for our server Elaine who was friendly, helpful and faultless in her professionalism. Would definitely recommend

Had a great lunch today, food was great and our server Elaine was the best, quick service always smiling and had a good laugh with her as well. Can't fault it and would highly recommend going for a meal there, been here a couple of times and every time the food and service has been a high standard

We had an excellent experience at The Watermill in Dorking today . Despite the restaurant being extremely busy when we arrived at 12:45, Liam greeted us warmly and informed us that our table would be ready in about 10-15 minutes, which was perfectly fine. Once seated, Libby provided outstanding service and attended to our every need with care and attentiveness. We were celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary and the food was absolutely fabulous. Thank you, Liam and Libby, for making our special day even more memorable!

A lovely pub recently renovated, with amazing views of Box Hill. Izzy was a great host to us, a group of 13 including kids and babies so not easy to get everyones orders etc. Will be back again soon.

What a wonderful dinner at The Watermill, It's well worth a visit, I would fully recommend it. The food was delicious. I had Venison Pie with mash and gravy, which was sublime. I was also particularly pleased because it was a full pie rather than just with a pastry top. The pie itself was delicious, and the mash, cabbage and gravy were also excellent. The portion was a good size too, and reasonably priced. I had an Elderflower Spritz mocktail to drink which was also excellent. For dessert, I found it incredibly difficult to choose as they all sounded great, but in the end had the Toffee Apple Arctic Roll, which was very nice and not too heavy. The service was excellent also, the staff are very friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back, if only to work my way through the dessert menu, as there were so many delicious sounding dishes to choose from. I would definitely recommend The Watermill.

Is this the cheapest place to get a Sunday roast? No. Is it best Sunday roast I've ever had? Possibly! Does it represent great value for money, amazing food, great decor and smiling, friendly, helpful staff? Absolutely! A complete gem of a place, couldnt fault our visit from start to finish, apart from maybe a few extra parking spaces as it's so popular! Will definitely be back to sample some more of the fantastic menu.

Very busy and noisy, food poor the chips were not properly cooked the fish was all batter with little fish. When the cold coffee arrived we were hassled to vacate the table asap.

If I could give it 6 stars I would. Amazing steak, drinks and service.

Updated: food and service were much improved after a sticky time post opening. View remains amazing and now a favourite place for breakfast. But 3 out of the last visits have seen an issue with someone's meal - and we aren't fussy... Not even about the food being good or bad - it's about it being under/overcooked.

Highly recommend this smart Surrey pub. We visited The Watermill for Sunday lunch to celebrate my birthday and were given a table with an excellent view over Box Hill. The manager, Liam, and his team were all very friendly and welcoming as they looked after us attentively. The food was excellent, with my wife and I each selecting one of their roast Sunday lunches. Our waitress, Scarlett, was polite and friendly, making sure that we were nicely looked after throughout our lunch. Overall, we would highly recommend this smart pub, and we shall definitely be returning.

Popped in to the Watermll after bracing local walk with two hounds. Warm welcome by Manager Liam & even warmer seat in front of the fire. Water for dogs & delicious spicy tomato juice for me. Lovely atmosphere and welcome brunch. Thank you to all.

One o the nicest pubs I’ve been to in ages. Very nice inside, very good food. Elaine, our waitress from Ireland was sooo friendly. Big terrace overlooking the hills which I’m sure is lovely in the summer. Dog friendly too.

What a great find for a family meet up on New Years day. The bacon sarnies were a great choice good coffee and our serving person Elaine was a star. We will be back.

Popped in to see if the Watermill did breakfast, was welcomed with a 'yes', and shown to a table. We were shown to a table and given menus. We chose the full English with tea. The food and tea were served up promptly, and I've got to say, it was one of the best breakfasts I've had! All the ingredients were top quality, and really tasty, just like the old days!!! We were served by the excellent Elaine who was lovely, and we soon got chatting, which added to the experience. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit and food, so will definitely come again. A good start to my birthday.

Everything was ten out of ten. The food was delicious and the service was friendly. We would definitely go again and looking forward to seeing the view in summer.

My partner and I have just had the most amazing roast dinner at The Watermill, the food was amazing, the portion sizes were huge and the food was all freshly prepared rather than pre-packaged pub food. We were seated right next to a beautiful open fire and served by Libby who we found to be very friendly and gave great recommendations. We spoke all the way home about how lovely the whole experience was and that we will definitely be retuning again soon.

Visited on 22 December. Busy but the service was amazing. Accommodated us in the bar area as we had a dog with us. Food great, enjoyed by all. Will definitely go back. Geat outdoor seating area too for when the weather is warmer.

We have been here many times and the food is just getting worse and worse. The vegetables were overcooked or undercooked, no seasoning and just flavorless. It’s a shame because it’s a great location. I had the fish of the day.

The place was so lovely and the ambience just perfect for a family gathering on Christmas Eve! Our waitress Izzy had just come back from Uni the day before and was so attentive and friendly. Thank you for making our Christmas Eve so special. We will be back.

Me and my family came here Christmas Eve as our previous restaurant experienced a power cut and cancelled our booking! My god are we glad this happened, as soon as we walked through the doors, Daniel greeted us with a huge smile on his face! We were sat down and introduced to Libby who continued the amazing service right up until we left, we couldn’t recommend this place enough and will deffo be back in the near future :)

We booked a table for Saturday 21st. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and shown to our table. The wait staff were very pleasant, attentive and quick to ensure we have everything we needed. The food was delicious, fairly priced and quick to come out. We will absolutely be back in the future.

The Watermill has always been my go-to pub in the summer, but this was my first time visiting during winter, and I’m so glad I did! I booked a Christmas brunch with friends, and the entire experience was fantastic. From the start, Daniel made us feel incredibly welcome. He had thoughtfully booked us a lovely table, keeping in mind that we had three toddlers with us. His friendly demeanor instantly put us at ease. Peter, who served us, was equally amazing—so kind, patient, and attentive, even amidst the inevitable chaos of having little ones at the table. He went above and beyond to make sure we were all comfortable and enjoying ourselves. Offered to click our pictures as well. The food quality was great as always, and the staff’s warmth and attentiveness really stood out. To top it off, they had a charming Christmas market in the outdoor area, with lots of cute things to browse and buy. Overall, it was a delightful experience, and I can’t wait to come back again—whether in summer or winter! Highly recommend The Watermill for its great food, friendly staff, and cozy ambiance.

Lovely atmosphere, the live band were amazing and the sharing plates delicious. Tip - parfait needs to thaw a bit before serving, coffee cups were too full and spilled. Apart from that an enjoyable evening. Will definitely be back.

We came here for my Grandad's 80th birthday and the service we received was fantastic. Jack was attentive and curtious, he answered all of our questions and was very approachable. The food was lovely and came out quickly, most of us had the venison pie which we all highly recommend. We often come here as a large group and are never disappointed

We were served today by Kieran, who was so attentive and with a great sense of humour, but respect. Great job. The other servers were very kind and friendly too. Food and location excellent. Always such a nice place to pop in.

Had a great Sunday lunch, served by the very attentive Elaine! Had the roast beef followed by the sticky toffee pudding, the quality of the beef was superb, the roasts were amazing and the Yorkshire puddings were up there with the best I’ve had! The veg and cauliflower cheese were perfectly cooked and the gravy was spot on! All washed down with quality draught beer!! It was very busy and the atmosphere was excellent! The service was also excellent and Elaine did an amazing job!! We wanted for nothing!! I would thoroughly recommend a visit!

I have always had outstanding service at this establishment. The venue itself is very warm and welcoming and the staff are attentive without being intrusive. Daniel, the Manager/Maître d’, always, without fail makes you feel like you’re an honoured guest which is especially fabulous when it’s your birthday. I’m a bit late leaving this review but I celebrated my 3rd birthday lunch here at The Watermill and they did not disappoint. The ambience and the food were spectacular. Staff weren’t hospitable. We ordered 3 meals and all of them were pretty awful. Chips tasted like cardboard and had clearly been microwaved, like much of the food. Wouldn’t recommend. Also whoever chose to paint the building that awful colour needs to be sacked.

Always a great meal and service. On this occasion we arrived to find there was no record of our booking but they still accommodated us and managed to fit us in without a wait. We had the wonderful Elaine serving us and she was so friendly and helpful. Thanks as always!

Daniel and Emily were amazing looking after our party of 9. Super accommodating and welcoming and couldn’t do enough to help us celebrate. Only knocked one star off because there was an annoying yappy dog sat next to us - owners’ fault not the pub’s.

We had such a great lunch with family and friends. Daniel looked after us so amazingly well. A fab table, really delicious food (the kids pizza with their own cutters went down a treat!), great atmosphere, empty plates, happy times!

Great atmosphere, warm and friendly with a great cozy mix of sofas, chairs and tables to eat at. Delicious food - fish and chips a particular hit, and really great service, our waitress Scarlett was super friendly and efficient, getting our food to us quickly (we were hungry) and gave us great tips on the local area.

I had a dinner reservation last Friday for two people, but I was disappointed on two separate occasions that night with my order overall: the main course special and the dessert service. Daniel was great in resolving both issues I raised. I was tempted during the meal not to come back but his professionalism and sincerity in acknowledging the team's mistakes and finding a suitable solution would make me consider coming back one day.

Food and drinks are standard gastro pub, service is warm and friendly. The highlight is the background view of Box Hill and the lush Surrey Hills. It's a feast for the eyes on a sunny Sunday to sit on the rear deck - sip on your choice of drinks and relax

Well well well just where do I start with this little gem? An unexpected surprise from something I go past everyday that delivers more than just food. If you thought all of good pubs in dorking were gone then you couldn’t be more wrong. The watermill boasts an ideal location with beer garden views onto box hill with a spacious, yet cosy, interior. As for the staff - someone in the training department needs a raise because I have never encountered such a friendly and welcoming atmosphere from this inspired group at the front of house. Furthermore, the food at the watermill was unlike anything you find at your local gastropubs nowadays. Me and my pals were only planning on having a drink after a hard days collar but boy oh boy were we happy when we saw the nibbles section of the menu. The chicken and ham terrine and Korean cauliflower was the perfect filling for the gap in my stomach. To summarise, great pub, great place, great people. I couldn’t recommend it more!!!

This is my local pub/ restaurant and it is mg favourite, I love the views from the beautiful terrace, how cosy the bar is, friendly staff, tasty food and most of all that the dogs can be anywhere :)

I was treated to a birthday lunch by my son - and The Watermill exceeded all expectations. Service from Elaine was warm and friendly and the food was excellent (beef wellington, as a special, was sublime). Pleasing decor and marvellous views. Would heartily recommend.
