We had a fabulous lunch on Sunday afternoon in this very stylish chic pub. Although we'd reserved a table on the terrace as the forecast for the Sunday was all day sunshine and pleasantly warm, we were surprised that the terrace wasn't open to enjoy lunch outside, however, we were seated in the restaurant which was comfortable and pleasant. The food was just divine, from the harissa lamb starter we shared with the most scrumptious flatbread, the pigs in blankets to the roast pork, sublime! My partner ordered the double burger with bacon which he thoroughly enjoyed. We are looking forward to another lunch soon, but definitely to enjoy sitting out on the terrace to take in the spectacular views of Box Hill, with the sheep grazing on the slopes.

We often visit this lovely establishment, led by a genius of a man, Liam. Today, we want to say a huge thank you and well done to two of the team members. Ollie, who has worked there for some time is a legend of the pub. Very polite, always courteous and always takes the time to say hello to us and see how we are, in conjunction with always providing a high end service. Thank you Ollie. We would also like to say a huge thank you to Lauren. Lauren's hard work is always evident and her smile and presentation always lights up the venue. Constantly on the go, constantly supporting her guests and constantly always offering a very high end guest service. Well done Lauren, you are very good at what you do as you are too Ollie. Very nice venue, spacious country cottage with a modern dining twist and bar. Cosy seating area and tables for dining. Service is brilliant, timely and considerate. Perfect Sunday roast after a walk in the surrounding country, with vege and vegan options. Be sure to check bookings for tables, as it can get booked out. I could have easily rated this place 4.5 for ambiance alone. A seafood sharer platter for two with one tiny little piece of bread does not justify £26. Yes the quality is decent, but the quantity is very very low for that price. No sauces brought over for the fries (whilst we asked for it). Slow service, not just our table. I would definitely come back but would hope to find improvement. We had two alcoholic drinks too and the bill came to £62 pounds. Not good value!

We waited and waited....so went to bar to order our drinks!....waited for menu....went to bar to get our menus!.....waited for someone to come and take our order.....went to bar to order our food!...luckily someone did arrive with the food and I didn't have to collect it!!! Food was very nice when it came but not a simple lunch choice...a bit modern and faffy!

Went for the first time this morning - real gem of a place for brunch - surprsingly good cooking. I opted for a brunch bacon sandwich - rather than your regular limp bread with a piece of floppy bacon, an absolutely fantastic sandwich appeared, fresh cut dootstep bread lightly toasted with loads of crispy bacon inside. Simple but done really really well - delicious and good value. Service super friendly and a nice atmosphere. Will definately be returning

Convenient restaurant to go to after the cinema in Dorking, plenty of parking & good disabled facilities. Took advantage of the £45 for 2 mains & a bottle of wine. Burgers were good but the chicken was dry & not enough gravy. Service was poor, considering the restaurant was far from full.

Lauren & Paula are both really lovely & provided really a good service

The best gravy I've had in ages, taking the star off cause Yorkshire pud was a bit soggy, roast portions are ginormous, 2 people could eat off of one meal. Sorbet was incredibly velvety.. Staff is super attentive and speedy for a change!!

We had the sharing camembert - very tasty... a finger bowl would have been handy Then the roast beef this was most disappointing, the beef was tough... one plate had 2 sets of vegetables one had none? The extra bowls of veg was strange and not fully cooked more boiled potatoes and beetroot... we had Sunday lunch the week before at the Duke of Wellington East Horsley their roast beef far exceeded the Watermill and the potatoes were real roasties So sadly we won't go there again for a while... we will be trying another local pub and will report back. The staff and the venue were lovely.

Lovely spot for dinner or any other occasion! The food was delicious and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The restaurant manager welcomed us and looked after us all night making sure we had all we needed.

The Blonde eastern european man greeted us at the front. Told us a whole load of gibberish just to turn us around. A simple "sorry guys we are over booked" would have sufficed. Very minimal effort was maintained to even find us seating. Looking around there was space. Don't come here if you want good service.

Walked in on a Sunday night at around 6pm and was greeted by a blonde man who was around 6 feet tall, who appeared to be intoxicated. He told us he could not seat us as he had been too busy on that day, he was very rude. Do not go here and avoid the blonde, tall man in the blue suit as well.

We visited over the weekend for our 1 year anniversary and thought we would return as it was where we visited for our first date. Great service from the bar staff when arriving for a pre dinner drink. The host was also very energetic and polite when greeting and seating us to our table. Our waiter however wasn't particularly attentive as made no real effort for making and real effort to introduce himself or show interest in ourselves more or less just appeared with a device in hand to take our order, no offer of another drink or anything we were just left to it. The house sharing board was very pleasant starter with great flavour and presentation. Upon ordering another round of drinks where my girlfriend ordered a pinot noir was served a pinot grigio which isn't even of the same type of wine... 10 minutes later we recieved the correct wine and proceeded to mains. For myself I had the T bone which was asked for medium rare of which the fillet was however the rest was more medium well, I had to ask for a steak knife and also to be given my sauce I had ordered of which I got at what felt like a snails pace and my butter had likely been sat on the pass for some time, my mushroom was dehydrated and impossible to cut or chew and my onion ring was soggy as it was sat under my tomato.... My girlfriend had the special which needed a bit more jus and the game unfortunately was luke warm but flavour wise very impressive! No desserts however a waitress we had asked to get our bill from seemed to catch our eye through the entire experience as she was either chewing gum or had eaten something in the kitchen and not finished chewing before returning to the floor. We paid our bill and returned to the bar for 1 last drink before heading home.

This place is AMAZING! Met my friend for a “girlie” lunch and catch up and could’ve quite happily stayed all evening too! From the initial welcome to the brilliant and fun service from Elaine, who I might add is the BEST waitress on the planet and a massive asset to the company! The food was outstanding, my venison was soooo delicious and melt in the mouth, our sweets wee scrumptious and all round fabulous value for this quality of food and service! The atmosphere is warm, fun and welcoming and we will be back! Highly recommend 😊

We had a nice meal here after watching Jimmy Carr, The Watermill is our local but we don’t come here too often as have had some very disappointing delays with food in the past. We did have a great time last week though, the waiter was a young, keen and attentive young man with a great attitude. The older chap who took are bill seemed a little less friendly and was very keen to get the payment and for us to maybe leave.l but it was later in the evening. Food was enjoyed but we have to comment on the bacon ketchup - it wasn’t a hit and tasted very odd, maybe off? Not sure if bacon fat has just been poured into it but was not even expected ( the menu didn’t mention it!) We do love the decor inside and hope to come in again and have more great food.

I had a fantastic dining experience at The Watermill in Dorking! The food was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a relaxed meal. The manager Daniel went above and beyond to ensure I had a great time, even offering me a complimentary glass of wine. It’s rare to find such genuine customer care these days, and it made all the difference. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for amazing food and top-notch service. Can’t wait to come back!

Was at the Watermill today for a meal. The food was great and the venue is clean, spacious and welcoming. What made it exceptional was the standard of the staff. Very friendly and professional, a special mention for our server Elaine who was friendly, helpful and faultless in her professionalism. Would definitely recommend

Had a great lunch today, food was great and our server Elaine was the best, quick service always smiling and had a good laugh with her as well. Can't fault it and would highly recommend going for a meal there, been here a couple of times and every time the food and service has been a high standard

We had an excellent experience at The Watermill in Dorking today . Despite the restaurant being extremely busy when we arrived at 12:45, Liam greeted us warmly and informed us that our table would be ready in about 10-15 minutes, which was perfectly fine. Once seated, Libby provided outstanding service and attended to our every need with care and attentiveness. We were celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary and the food was absolutely fabulous. Thank you, Liam and Libby, for making our special day even more memorable!

A lovely pub recently renovated, with amazing views of Box Hill. Izzy was a great host to us, a group of 13 including kids and babies so not easy to get everyones orders etc. Will be back again soon.

Is this the cheapest place to get a Sunday roast? No. Is it best Sunday roast I've ever had? Possibly! Does it represent great value for money, amazing food, great decor and smiling, friendly, helpful staff? Absolutely! A complete gem of a place, couldnt fault our visit from start to finish, apart from maybe a few extra parking spaces as it's so popular! Will definitely be back to sample some more of the fantastic menu.

What a wonderful dinner at The Watermill, It's well worth a visit, I would fully recommend it. The food was delicious. I had Venison Pie with mash and gravy, which was sublime. I was also particularly pleased because it was a full pie rather than just with a pastry top. The pie itself was delicious, and the mash, cabbage and gravy were also excellent. The portion was a good size too, and reasonably priced. I had an Elderflower Spritz mocktail to drink which was also excellent. For dessert, I found it incredibly difficult to choose as they all sounded great, but in the end had the Toffee Apple Arctic Roll, which was very nice and not too heavy. The service was excellent also, the staff are very friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back, if only to work my way through the dessert menu, as there were so many delicious sounding dishes to choose from. I would definitely recommend The Watermill.

Very busy and noisy, food poor the chips were not properly cooked the fish was all batter with little fish. When the cold coffee arrived we were hassled to vacate the table asap.

If I could give it 6 stars I would. Amazing steak, drinks and service.

Updated: food and service were much improved after a sticky time post opening. View remains amazing and now a favourite place for breakfast. But 3 out of the last visits have seen an issue with someone's meal - and we aren't fussy... Not even about the food being good or bad - it's about it being under/overcooked.

Highly recommend this smart Surrey pub. We visited The Watermill for Sunday lunch to celebrate my birthday and were given a table with an excellent view over Box Hill. The manager, Liam, and his team were all very friendly and welcoming as they looked after us attentively. The food was excellent, with my wife and I each selecting one of their roast Sunday lunches. Our waitress, Scarlett, was polite and friendly, making sure that we were nicely looked after throughout our lunch. Overall, we would highly recommend this smart pub, and we shall definitely be returning.

One o the nicest pubs I’ve been to in ages. Very nice inside, very good food. Elaine, our waitress from Ireland was sooo friendly. Big terrace overlooking the hills which I’m sure is lovely in the summer. Dog friendly too.

What a great find for a family meet up on New Years day. The bacon sarnies were a great choice good coffee and our serving person Elaine was a star. We will be back.

Popped in to see if the Watermill did breakfast, was welcomed with a 'yes', and shown to a table. We were shown to a table and given menus. We chose the full English with tea. The food and tea were served up promptly, and I've got to say, it was one of the best breakfasts I've had! All the ingredients were top quality, and really tasty, just like the old days!!! We were served by the excellent Elaine who was lovely, and we soon got chatting, which added to the experience. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit and food, so will definitely come again. A good start to my birthday.

Everything was ten out of ten. The food was delicious and the service was friendly. We would definitely go again and looking forward to seeing the view in summer.

My partner and I have just had the most amazing roast dinner at The Watermill, the food was amazing, the portion sizes were huge and the food was all freshly prepared rather than pre-packaged pub food. We were seated right next to a beautiful open fire and served by Libby who we found to be very friendly and gave great recommendations. We spoke all the way home about how lovely the whole experience was and that we will definitely be retuning again soon.

We have been here many times and the food is just getting worse and worse. The vegetables were overcooked or undercooked, no seasoning and just flavorless. It’s a shame because it’s a great location. I had the fish of the day.

The place was so lovely and the ambience just perfect for a family gathering on Christmas Eve! Our waitress Izzy had just come back from Uni the day before and was so attentive and friendly. Thank you for making our Christmas Eve so special. We will be back.

We booked a table for Saturday 21st. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and shown to our table. The wait staff were very pleasant, attentive and quick to ensure we have everything we needed. The food was delicious, fairly priced and quick to come out. We will absolutely be back in the future.

Me and my family came here Christmas Eve as our previous restaurant experienced a power cut and cancelled our booking! My god are we glad this happened, as soon as we walked through the doors, Daniel greeted us with a huge smile on his face! We were sat down and introduced to Libby who continued the amazing service right up until we left, we couldn’t recommend this place enough and will deffo be back in the near future :)

The Watermill has always been my go-to pub in the summer, but this was my first time visiting during winter, and I’m so glad I did! I booked a Christmas brunch with friends, and the entire experience was fantastic. From the start, Daniel made us feel incredibly welcome. He had thoughtfully booked us a lovely table, keeping in mind that we had three toddlers with us. His friendly demeanor instantly put us at ease. Peter, who served us, was equally amazing—so kind, patient, and attentive, even amidst the inevitable chaos of having little ones at the table. He went above and beyond to make sure we were all comfortable and enjoying ourselves. Offered to click our pictures as well. The food quality was great as always, and the staff’s warmth and attentiveness really stood out. To top it off, they had a charming Christmas market in the outdoor area, with lots of cute things to browse and buy. Overall, it was a delightful experience, and I can’t wait to come back again—whether in summer or winter! Highly recommend The Watermill for its great food, friendly staff, and cozy ambiance.

Lovely atmosphere, the live band were amazing and the sharing plates delicious. Tip - parfait needs to thaw a bit before serving, coffee cups were too full and spilled. Apart from that an enjoyable evening. Will definitely be back.

We came here for my Grandad's 80th birthday and the service we received was fantastic. Jack was attentive and curtious, he answered all of our questions and was very approachable. The food was lovely and came out quickly, most of us had the venison pie which we all highly recommend. We often come here as a large group and are never disappointed
