The staff here are absolutely amazing and so is the pub! A lovely place with lots of history and the atmosphere never disappoints. The staff, especially Duncan, Luca and Rhi are fabulous and so attentive as are the rest of the staff. I love coming here and it is constantly amazing every single time. Would highly recommend any pizzas here as they are made to order and always perfect. Excellent choice of drinks and the quiz on Mondays hosted by Rory is superb and great for the whole family!

Cosiest pub I’ve been to and the ambience there gives a comforting feeling. Sat by the fireplace and that lifted the feeling even more. Not a big menu, but the food was tasty. The loo’s were clean, maybe a bit small. I found it nice that the women’s loo had a basket with practical things such as hairspray. Staff were friendly and the pub was located right on the street so it was easy to find.

Went with family and friends for a Christmas get together… really enjoyable pub with reasonably priced drinks (for this area anyway) Train was late getting in so I actually missed the meal which was gutting as it looked fabulous, everyone else was more than happy! Service was a tad slow at the bar but considering how busy it was it was to be expected. Shame it was too cold for a drink in their outdoor area as it looked amazing, hopefully get a chance to come back in the summer and try it then. Thanks for a great night. Great Christmas vibe!

As a long time local and supporter of this beautiful pub I was a little bit disappointed yesterday. One day into the weekend and they had run out of spitfire lager steaks and any ideas on good service! Used to really enjoy the chicken wings really good quality and tasted amazing with a good pint. They have been replaced by poor quality breaded excuse for wings! Six months ago this pub was on point seems to have gone down hill very quickly unfortunately!

Popped in for a light lunch with a friend. Shared chicken wings for £14.50 plenty enough for two with Smokey BBQ sauce though the scotch bonnet arrived & was too hot for me though my lunch guest was happy😀. Bar staff were apologetic & brought over a BBQ dip immediately. Spitfire amber ale and Kentish Ale on tap. Lovely, though strange the brewers don’t offer Blue Light discount on food like others?

Had Sunday lunch, I had traditional Roast Pork with the usual accompaniments. Partner and daughter had Katsu and Nut Roast respectively. Everyone thought food was great in terms of taste and quantity, atmosphere good so no negatives. One tiny point, although we had booked a table and the table was available, it wasn't made clear that you ordered at the bar and the impression I got when we came in was that it was table service so we waited for 15 minutes before finding out. To end on a plus the price at around £17 each I thought very reasonable for Surrey (we were guests in the county).

We went for a spontaneous Christmas lunch with work colleagues-we rang ahead to book the table and to ask if we needed to pre-order food (as we knew it would be busy!) When we arrived, the server had no idea of the booking. We were showed to our table after some confusion and were told it would be an hours wait for food. It was busy, however not to the point where food should take an hour. We told them if it would be longer than this, we would need the food to takeaway. An hour goes by and no food. We asked how much longer it would be and were told another 20 minutes. Bearing in mind this was for sandwiches and chips-not main meals. We had to request to get the food to takeaway. Not once during all of this was there an apology. They were clearly understaffed, which is not fair on the servers. However, an update/apology about the wait would've been appreciated. It's a shame as the pub is lovely-traditional and cosy. The food itself was also very nice, however cold by the time we got back to the office to eat it!!

The King's Arms is an ancient pub, timber framed, added on to over the centuries and generally interesting. It has a sort of island bar, with seating split between multiple sections. There is also a courtyard and a backyard seating area. The inside has seen a good deal of maintenance and decoration in recent history and the yard has had a lot of effort invested in the last year, now being open at the rear, with some characterful new seating and a much brighter feel. I think this was only my third visit in the last year. Despite being in Dorking frequently, the only reason I don't regularly use this pub is that I personally find Shepherd Neame beers very uninteresting. SN seem to have a policy of not having guest beers; an offering from a local brewery or an interesting regional beer from further afield, would make the King's a much more attractive prospect! Add to that that my pint of Whitstable Bay on my last visit was in very poor condition, I'm not in a rush to return. If a company with a passion for good beer ever took over this pub, it could be an absolute gem! Happy drinking!

A very disappointing family meal out overall. The food was ok, general pub food. But no roast on a Sunday, just standard gastro menu of burgers and fish & chips. But my word, the service. Utterly shocking, rude, non-existent. We had a booking for a group of 13, booked in advance, but there was clearly a lack of staffing to handle us and a few other tables. We had NO table service, had to get our own menus off other tables & ask for additional cutlery. We asked about roasts and the South African waiter/bar man/ I don’t even know was so rude in his response of ‘its summer, no roasts in the summer’ - who knew!? This was shouted at us as he walked off… For such a large group booking and a large bill to help pay their wages for the day, the service completely ruined the experience. It is a luxury these days to eat out, there’s a cost of living crisis, I suggest the staff, namely the guy, need to improve on their customer service skills to ensure they have a job & keep the hospitality industry afloat… we will not be returning.

Pretty good if you fancy just a drink but the food was disappointing. The beef burger was awful, if you get it then ask without the pickle inside. It ruins the taste of the burger extremely potent vinegar flavour and mutes the taste of everything. Burger was over cooked and dry which was a shame as it was thick. The chicken burger was soggy and overcooked. Chewy and plain. The kids sausage and mash was probably the best, peas where undercooked and mash tasted like smash but lumpy. Didn’t have either the tuna or sticky toffee in which was the only thing that was wanted by myself. Ended up with the waffle for pudding, the waffle was ever so slightly warm, very stale and had a sourness to it. Got given vanilla ice cream instead of honeycomb, only reason I ordered it was for that. Was suppose to have a caramelised banana to which was just a fresh sliced banana. Unfortunately I never got told when ordering about buying the kids main and dessert that it was £9 instead ordering separately I was charged more & never got given a receipt first time around. Overall a pretty terrible place to eat. I’d recommend going elsewhere, only good thing is the beer on tap. Would recommend for a drink but that’s about it.

Slightly tricky to score this one because after a fair few visits, generally I rate it quite highly. Good draught selection, friendly staff and atmosphere, dog friendly. Most of the food has been very nice however I’ve also had a couple of below par meals too. For example the beef roast recently, large portion however was just a bit below average quality wise, especially the meat which was overcooked and bland. Perhaps a bad joint but at £19 I would expect quality over quantity really. Personally I would go elsewhere for a roast but for the main menu, I would generally recommend. Overall a nice pub though.

I discovered this wonderful pub by chance, on a cold dark night while trying to find an elderly client (I am a domicile carer). I went in to ask directions and received such a wonderful welcome and assistance. Matt the manager immediately linked my mobile phone to their internet and then proceeded to search the address I couldn’t find. He was so kind and obviously was able to direct me to the location I needed. When I returned home my partner said on my next day off we would go for a meal, which we did today! Again, lovely warm welcome and clever personal touch by reserving our table with my name on a slate on the table. We enjoyed the leek, potato and cauliflower soup of the day and I had the superb sticky and oh so wonderful super tasty chicken wings to start. Terry then had a very generous portion of bangers (3) & mash with seasonal veg and gravy, and I had the minced beef and ale pie with mash, veg and gravy. So very good, we were both so sated that there was no room for pudding but there’s always next time! Extremely good value for money too coming to approx £35 each including drinks.

We visited over the weekend for our 1 year anniversary and thought we would return as it was where we visited for our first date. Great service from the bar staff when arriving for a pre dinner drink. The host was also very energetic and polite when greeting and seating us to our table. Our waiter however wasn't particularly attentive as made no real effort for making and real effort to introduce himself or show interest in ourselves more or less just appeared with a device in hand to take our order, no offer of another drink or anything we were just left to it. The house sharing board was very pleasant starter with great flavour and presentation. Upon ordering another round of drinks where my girlfriend ordered a pinot noir was served a pinot grigio which isn't even of the same type of wine... 10 minutes later we recieved the correct wine and proceeded to mains. For myself I had the T bone which was asked for medium rare of which the fillet was however the rest was more medium well, I had to ask for a steak knife and also to be given my sauce I had ordered of which I got at what felt like a snails pace and my butter had likely been sat on the pass for some time, my mushroom was dehydrated and impossible to cut or chew and my onion ring was soggy as it was sat under my tomato.... My girlfriend had the special which needed a bit more jus and the game unfortunately was luke warm but flavour wise very impressive! No desserts however a waitress we had asked to get our bill from seemed to catch our eye through the entire experience as she was either chewing gum or had eaten something in the kitchen and not finished chewing before returning to the floor. We paid our bill and returned to the bar for 1 last drink before heading home.

We went as a girl's night out with the 50% off mains deal . Being a Monday we were very well attended to . Staff were friendly and accommodating ,special mention to Gary. The food was ALL delicious. The price of wine was a bit high so we didn't drink that and our corner was a bit chilly but actually it was an enjoyable evening and we'll come again.
