The food was nice (once it came out), but the service was really slow. We had to wait more than an hour for a roast and fish and chips, and it wasn't that busy (about 4 other tables).

Sunday 13th October 2024. Roast lamb!! Oh my gosh, today’s lunch was amaze balls (told the girls I was going to say that 🤣) honestly lunch was delicious, plentiful and fresh. Nothing was too much trouble, just wonderful. Please do not change the suppliers or chief like some establishments do after being refurbished and opened for a couple of months. My compliments to everyone, thank you.

Food was great, especially the lamb roast.. portion size was unexpected and very pleasing as most places these days charge a fortune and give you a small plate of food, but here I could have rolled out by the time I’d finished. Staff were friendly and the manager couldn’t do enough in accommodating us, considering we had a baby, we were made to feel very comfortable and enjoyed our dinner experience.

We tried this pub back in January on recommendation from a friend. It was a cold winters day so Sunday roast was the only thing to warm me up and fill me up!! I haven’t had a pub roast in years where my plate is almost bursting over the sides, so pleased with the value for money and great taste to match, you don’t get that much these days. The pork belly bite starters and profiterole dessert were just as delicious. Will definitely be returning to try something else on the menu. Great historic pub feel inside with a modern twist on the cosy boothes in the courtyard. The door to Narnia was my favourite!! Something for everyone at this lovely pub.

We managed to get ourselves booked into the Narnia room for a Sunday roast which was very unique having to walk through a literal wardrobe to our table waiting for us in a very well presented setting. The food was amazing. I was starving before hand, and literally couldn’t finish my serving (believe me I tried) due to the portion size…excellent value for money on size and quality! The pork in particular will have me coming back. Bar staff were very friendly and welcoming too. All in all, a fantastic pub which I highly recommend!

Came here for Sunday roast a few weeks ago. Cannot fault the food, it was absolutely unbelievable. The pork belly bites were incredible, the roast just delicious & we loved that you didn’t have to pay for extras, everything came with it. The staff were very attentive and the service was fast. We love this pub and are so pleased food is back so we went for Sunday lunch. The portions were generous, meat lean and plentiful with a great variety of veg and lovely gravy. A big hit with us and just as good, if not better, than the newly reopened White Horse. Comparable in price but more relaxed. We will be back to try out the weekday menu!

Sadly, I had a really bad service at The Old House today. The service was incredibly slow, even though there were not any customers around us (we went in shortly after the pub opened). We waited for almost an hour to be served, though at least they could have served my daughter's food first. I made a small complaint at the counter when I paid as the service was slow also they overcharged us. The male stuff was not taking me seriously and listening to me, and there were no apologies for that. Unfortunately, I even felt like he was a bit racist to me. I may be overreacting to my experience, but I will never come back again.

Food was generally good, pretty simple pub food. Service was pretty poor, we were the only ones at the pub, but it took an hour for the food to come out. When we complained about the situation, the staff just said 'OK' and brushed us off. Atmosphere is quite nice, but won't come again because of the bad service.

Under new ownership by Dorking Brewery, the interior is absolutely fine but will be amazing after a full refurb in the next month or so. Popped in for a bite to eat and to be nosey about the new ownership. Currently still running their festive menu we opted for the Turkey and sausage burger with pancetta and brie and I have to say it was delicious! We also opted for a side of the 'dirty puffs' which were beer battered jalepeno and chorizo balls, also amazing. We asked the young chef if we could try the home made black garlic sriracha that was on the menu and we're blown away. They should bottle it and sell it on the bar I would definitely buy more! Fingers crossed for the refurb and a successful return of one of Dorkings best pubs! With food like this it won't take long!

The People the Grange support will serve you at your table gaining experience of dealing with customers and handling money. This is an excellent and weel worth suppoting. The tea is served in the Victoriam conservatory. The cost is £6.50 a head for a scone, jam and cream with unlimited tea of coffee. Most enjoyable. The only minor downside is the start time of 2 o'close which for us is far too early 3 o;clock for tea would suit us much better and this is the only point thatwill stop us returning

I took my elderly mum out for lunch and when I asked for a diet coke, I was told that they didn't sell that and all cold drinks were in the cabinet. I asked if they had any other sugar free cold drink. I was told I'd have to look at the cans, or I could have water or a hot drink. I decided therefore to go without. The food = mum ordered the beef and ale pasty. It was so dried up and hard that she could barely cut it with a knife let alone her teeth! I did complain to the waitress who promised to feed back and waited a good 10 minutes or so as I thought someone might show some interest and come over. They didn't! I appreciate that things can go wrong in any business but it's how those things are dealt with that seperates the good from the average. With so many choices locally, can't say I'll be rushing back.

The worst experience having breakfast. Ordered a tea and came in takeaway cup sitting in.. with milk and teabag in together. Worst scrambled age I’ve ever seen they were like milk and upon asking the waitress why she replied the chef likes to use undercook them!! The salmon was covered in fat also which hadn’t been cut off when prepared! Awful experience would not recommend as had two bad experiences in this cafe with food.

The King William IV is a very pretty pub, just off the A24 close to Mickleham. It was built in 1790 as an estate workers ale house for Cherkley Court, which now is Beaverbrook golf course. The building itself is quite unusual, being multi-level as it is built on the side of a steep hill. The garden is terraced and the stunning view up to Norbury Park, make it one of Surrey's most attractive beer gardens! They sell some excellent local beer in very good condition! I've not eaten there for a long time but from what I've seen going on with the food, it looks very good. Something I'm not a fan of, which puts me off going more often, is the mandatory table service. This is no reflection on the staff, who are swift and friendly but I'm a bit old fashioned and just don't like faff and people fussing over me. The pub doesn't have a lot of standing room, the bar itself is small and the staff get very busy with food service; so it makes perfect sense if it's a group or you're ordering food/getting repeat drinks orders during a meal, to be served at table. However, in my case, I'm just there for the beer, either solo or in a pair and would really prefer to just buy a pint or two at the bar at take a seat! Instead, you have to be seated and given a menu, then they return for your order, come back with the drink/s, turning into a forth visit with change, should you wish to pay with cash. Bit of a rigmarole for a pint! That's just my personal gripe but this is a lovely pub worth visiting!
