Lovely little bike shop. Popped in here to buy a few odds n' ends for my bike. Hard working couple in the shop. Scorching hot day but cool inside and purchased a tasty coffee to takeaway.

Ok Do you need to be a cyclist or perhaps a walker to appreciate this place. Coffee and cakes at very reasonable prices and an open fire to die for after 25 miles of cycling in the bitter cold. Ignore the basic facilities and enjoy the ambience and the coffee. A must if you are in the area.

it is so rare to find a genuine bike shop these days ran by knowledgeable and extremely helpful Dave. They only stock good quality and so you know that you are in for long lasting workmanship with anything you buy there. a specialist in touring bikes this is a 5* shop!

I needed urgent help with my bike and was efficiently helped with professionalism, calmness and an obvious knowledge. I have a very basic bike knowledge and I didn’t feel patronised either which can happen elsewhere at times. Thoroughly recommended.

This is truly one of the best cycle repair shops I have been to (and I recently toured the UK for 7,000 miles). The owner fixed a problem that had plagued me and stumped so-called 'experts' throughout the country. This is not one of the 'chain' repair places; the owner has a genuine love for cycles and is always price-conscious about the cost of repairs. If you go there for food you need to accept that it's run by two people - at times only one is there - and while they do their best, it's hard to stop when you're in the middle of a complicated repair. It's a lovely, quirky place in an excellent location, not a five-star restaurant!

Out walking and went for hot drinks and possible sandwich. Served by a very surly gentleman who was fixing bikes; appeared to want to continue tinkering on his bikes rather than serve us. According to their website ".....and our toasted sandwiches made with fresh local bread are simple fare that appeal to the right sort of person." Not on this day! We were not the right kind of people! He was on his own and could not do sandwiches. Bought some not-so-fresh packet cakes and he reluctantly cleared the remaining table (covered in bits of bike) for us to sit at. Positive point...good coffee.

After much help and thought we purchased two new bikes for touring. A Surly Disc Trucker and a Coast to Coast Dawes - so happy we collected Well we knew we would get into mischief with the bikes! Walton Heath Golf Course after the Zig Zags and at the top a trophy (in forbidden access areas (Ice Cream and a cap). Then home. Both bikes are superb and just what the doctor ordered. Thanks for all the advice and the super coffee and good looking cake. We will be back! cheers, Martin and Jo

I enjoyed a brief snack here with some friends part way through a 130km ride. It's in a nice and peaceful location so we sat outside on some garden chairs which was fine. Inside they didn't seem to serve anything more substantial than cakes and savoury snacks so I opted for a tea, cookie and a packet of marmite cashews. The cashews were £3 which I thought was rather steep but they tasted great. Toilet is very basic but functional, with lots of weird signs saying you can only use it if you are a customer. After a rest we went on our way fairly content.

Coffee, home made cakes, sandwiches etc served in a converted station building, surrounded by the traditional touring bicycles for sale. Drool over the bikes or chat with Dave the proprietor and his wife, who in my experience and observation are always friendly and helpful. Perhaps a slightly old fashioned feel but this to me is coffee shops (and bike shops) as they used to be and still should be. Oh, and they have a nice fire in winter.

Sooo handy for the station and a sight for sore eyes after our ramble survey ended in rain and a fair wait for the train. The hot chocolate really hit the spot!

I often stop at the end of a ride and if I need any small adjustments eg new brake blocks it can often be done while I enjoy a coffee. A good location and have always enjoyed excellent service.

Pilgrim cycles is a perfect little place to get a bite to eat or a hot drink. It is in the middle of glorious countryside and literally right on the stations platform. They also sell local postcards and cycling posters. I always enjoy my visit. Very refreshing from all the bland franchised coffee shops out there.

We had hoped to have found a good place for a regular light bite between Dorking and Leatherhead when taxiing our girls to Saturday clubs. Unfortunately not: very very limited menu, basically sandwiches, toasted or not, uninterested service, very pricey at £5.50 and very lacklustre when they arrived, a bit of processed ham accompanied with limp garnish that had seen better days. A measly small coffee mug and overpriced juices meant our simple sandwich meal came to over £30 for basically not much. I don't mind £5.50 for a sandwich if it has the wow factor but these did not. The annoying thing is this could be a real goldmine if the owners took running the cafe seriously, I'm not sure how many £2k touring bikes they sell but I hope they do it with more panache than they run the catering with. Won't be back which is a shame.

This is not a very cycle friendly venue despite being a cycle shop and cycle cafe. There is nowhere you can safely leave your bikes visible outside if you go inside for a coffee. At the end of our ride we ordered two coffees and asked at the same time if we could bring our expensive bikes inside the bike shop for security whilst we relaxed (the station platform outside being unsuitable for this purpose). They said we could not whereupon I promptly cancelled the coffees. The owner who was unfriendly and generally grumpy unapologetically said "that's fine by me". He seemed to have no concept of customer service which I found rather disappointing. I will not return.

We only had a coffee here, but what a great spot. The cafe is in the station house, full of local memorabilia (guide books, maps, photos) as well as lots of cycles. I found myself drooling over some of the custom build Pilgrim road bikes, although their price labels brought me down to earth. Coffee was fine, but my best memory will be those gorgeous bikes!

Ideal for wondering cyclist pit stop however not overly advertised and quite expensive. Homemade cakes I think, and bike advice from owner.

A Most Precarious Repast at The Old House at Home There are few things in life as sacred as a well-poured drink and a sturdy table upon which to set it. Imagine my horror, then, upon entering The Old House at Home, only to find myself dining not in stately comfort but in a state of perpetual imbalance. One reserves a table with the reasonable expectation that it will, at the very least, stand firm beneath one’s elbows. Alas, what I was met with was a rickety, quivering contraption, trembling at the mere suggestion of movement. My fellow diners and I found ourselves locked in a silent contest of steadiness, each lifting a fork with the precision of a bomb disposal expert, lest we send our glasses skidding into oblivion. To make matters worse, this architectural affliction was not limited to my table alone; no, the neighbouring furniture appeared to share in this affliction, as if the entire room were engaged in some grand, lumbering waltz. A wonky table is not mere inconvenience—it is an insult to the art of dining, a sign of neglect so egregious that one wonders whether management has mistaken rustic charm for outright disrepair. One does not expect to endure a siege upon one’s senses simply to enjoy a meal. A man should be free to place his drink upon a table without fear that it may betray him. Until this most elementary of expectations is met, The Old House at Home shall remain, at best, a folly; at worst, a farce.
