It has been a while since I visited the Fig Tree last. We went with friends celebrating a birthday. I can honestly say it was probably the best meal that I have ever eaten. The Lobster starter was perfect and the venison divine. Coupled with superb service I cannot understand how this restaurant doesn't have a Michelin Star. I won't wait so long before returning.
Thursday 30th January 2025. Called in for lunch, this place is so welcoming, it’s like revisiting friends , this time with my daughter, both had a delicious lunch. I always browse the shop with many different items. Such a special place. Also great if on your own. I don’t have dietary needs but my daughter does. They are always willing to discuss ingredients. Thank you, highly recommended xx
As I vegan, I never expect to be able to eat anything special when I’m not in my home town of go to comforts.. but I was so blown away by their vegan rainbow sandwich! (Can’t remember it official name!) It was so beautifully presented and in abundance, it was such a treat! One of the best bites I’ve had in ages. Thank you!
Left so happy !
We had a Takeaway Christmas Dinner for four - a great choice of Christmas Faye, beautifully presented & generous proportions: Truly Scrumptious - they couldn’t have done anything better !!
hopefully to be repeated this year 👍
P S three of us had trifle and remarked that it was the best they’d ever eaten.

Really like this pub, it's a bit of a hidden gem behind the main part of the high street. There is always a great selection of unusual beers and ciders, and they let you do a taster first before committing to a pint. Also the white wine is always really cold, which doesn't seem to be a given in all pubs! There's a nice little quiz that runs one Thursday a month. There's a gin night too, and they also offer a beer and cider takeout service with containers of various sizes. Not sure about disabled access because it's up a steep slope and steps, but there may be alternative access. No food offer, but a fair selection of crisps 😁.
I'm a regular, great service as usual, lunch is very good value for money and tasty. Atmosphere is very relaxed, and you get a very warm welcome each time you walk through the door.
I was introduced to this cafe by Ashfield Kitchens, another 'hidden gem' in Handcross. Great atmosphere, superb coffee and the cinnamon buns are out of this world, not to be missed or ignored. Finally the friendly, busy, staff are the secret behind the success of this wonderful cafe. Go out of your way to visit. Thank you. S

A good cup of tea solves a lot of problems and I got a lovely pot of tea here, served with hot milk on the side because it's winter at present. Also they had nice relaxing, soothing music playing which wasn't intrusive and loud like in so many cafes.
I left my review as a private note through OpenTable but unfortunately have not heard anything from Safari Pizza about my experience.
I don’t want the waitress to get into any trouble but my experience has made me not want to return. I asked for a burrata bomb pizza without the cherry tomatoes. The waitress seemed to feel this was wrong even though I know my own tastes. I have tried cherry tomatoes before and do not like them. The waitress decided I should have one cherry tomato and I didn’t feel I was able to say no. The waitress then came to the table later to check if I had tried the cherry tomato and when I said I still didn’t like them, she again didn’t seem happy with this. I said I found it tart but the waitress tried to correct me and told me I would have found it sweet. I am autistic and have struggled with food textures (and being teased as a child for some of my preferences) so this made me feel uncomfortable to the point I would not wish to return to Safari Pizza unfortunately.
