Lovely welcoming shop and cafe. Great range of goods, food and drinks. It felt like dining at a friend’s house 🥰 Had some delicious gluten free lunch-sausage roll and Caramel Apple cake 😋 Polly also gave me some complimentary gf toast and hummus to try, which was very tasty too! Soup was my mum’s (that bread wasn’t gf, but apparently yummy too) As far as I know, everything in there is also Vegan! (If not all, then definitely most!)

Thursday 30th January 2025. Called in for lunch, this place is so welcoming, it’s like revisiting friends , this time with my daughter, both had a delicious lunch. I always browse the shop with many different items. Such a special place. Also great if on your own. I don’t have dietary needs but my daughter does. They are always willing to discuss ingredients. Thank you, highly recommended xx

Always a delight to pop in when I am in the area. Excellent vegan cakes, most of them gluten free as well when I visited! Staff are so friendly and happy, they make you feel very much at home. So lovely that there are products from local artists that you can also buy. Burgess Hill needs more independent shops like this!

Came across this independent gem whilst waiting in Burgess Hill. The staff (and customers) were absolutely delightful, and it felt like being with family. So fab to support local businesses, and everyone should pop in here. Great coffee, wonderful shop selling a variety of items and a little hair salon to boot!

Chanced upon this great place with lovely owner and all-vegan menu. It was such a treat to be able to choose anything I wanted from the excellent menu. My toasted sandwich was superb. I hope today was the first of many visits.

Had a great chai latte while waiting for a bus in burgess hill. Lovely venue with a shop and hairdressers inside. Didn’t have any food but it looked good. Staff and service were also great. Nice relaxed atmosphere, recommend.

Oh my goodness.....I am so cross with myself for not visiting this establishment before now. The staff are lovely and my lunch (I had the coronation chickpeas)....wow!!!.... What can I say.....they were absolutely delicious. Thank you SO much for a lovely lunch. Am looking forward to visiting again soon. Highly recommended.

Lovely vegan coffee house. We have a gluten free cake and oat milk coffee. The lunches look divine as well. I will try a lunch on my next visit.

Love love love this place! The food and cakes are exceptional and all totally vegan. The teas are wonderful and the staff so friendly and lovely. It's such a nice place to be. Really like the shop that goes with it and all the local products you can purchase. Love it here a lot!

Myself and my friend stopped in here for some light lunch, we had the superfood salad with falafel and it was amazing! Even got tiny dressing bowls so we could try each one as we couldn’t make our minds up! So welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about their food and ingredients. We will most certainly be back!

In my opinion the Mercantile Adventurers is without doubt the best place in Burgess Hill. Well worth a visit for the wonderful welcome, great food and the variety of small businesses. There is a fab hairdressers, clothes and accessories, cards and unusual gifts for sale, upholstery and curtain making, coffee, cake and delicious vegan food. Everyone is so friendly and you'll be surprised what you'll find there!

This place is great for lunch! Definitely a hidden gem for burgess hill- we need more GOOD cafes like this ✨ (I got a falafel salad, mocha with oat milk and a slice of vegan lemon drizzle cake 😋).

Great coffee and incredibly delicious chocolate and almond vegan croissants. A few tables in inside, and a couple outside too. The shop is lovely to browse around too!

We popped in to The Mercantile Adventurer this morning. We were warmly greeted by a lovely young lady, who we later learned was called Charlotte. A real jewel in Burgess Hill. As the rest of the town looks drab and boarded-up as part of the redevelopment, this place becomes better and brighter by the day.

This place is a miniature Aladdin's cave! Gorgeous kidswear, beautiful trinkets. A present buyer's paradise.

Popped in for lunch and had a fabulous tasty brie and bacon panini. Very friendly staff. Will be returning to try out the cakes and look around the independent shops set within the premises.

I popped in for a coffee with a friend and was sorely tempted by the delicious gluten-free chocolate cakes sold by the Simply Angelic coffee shop. The coffee shop area itself was cosy and there was a nice buzzy atmosphere from the other stalls. The coffee shop owner (Sharon) was really friendly and was particulary helpful to some elderly customers which was nice to see. I had a quick look around the other stalls and saw some beautiful things. Its good to know there are more options in Burgess Hill to buy presents. I can't wait to pop in again for a proper look (and for a cuppa)!
