Early for a meeting so stopped for a coffee which was delicious. Iced water given without a request. Nice loo. Definitely will visit again. Food looked delicious- two ladies eating breakfast!!

We visit Hassocks roughly twice a year most years and had never been to Aroma Cafe before. Our friends took us and it was absolutely wonderful, fresh food, perfect service (water was given without us even asking) and the whole experience was one to remember. We'll definitely be back next time we're visiting, hopefully to try their evening Bistro menu.

This is not your average cafe- both food and services have standard. We went there both for breakfast & lunch upon friends' recommendation. Then we discovered it does bistro during weekends evenings which we went on a Friday night. We were very impressed: it is very obvious the chef has a passion for food and understand the ingredients and has technical ability. The plates of food were expertly presented. The manager is Matt who does everything efficiently and politely, a good communicator. A lovely experience overall.

You can always tell a place is good when they have regular customers and it was clear that the Aroma how to stream of regulars coming in for lunch. My partner and I had a lovely lunch freshly prepared and plenty of it. Not sure when we’ll be back in the area, but as and when we are will be coming back to the Aroma.

I've been 4 times now and every time the food has been delicious. Lovely, relaxed atmosphere. Reasonably priced. Good wine menu. Always tempted by desert!

Aroma Cafe and kitchen never fails to impress. We were there for lunch with a couple of friends. The welcome was warm and friendly and one of our group with quite specific dietary requirements had no trouble in choosing something suitable from the menu. Another brilliant night at Aroma. We are so lucky to have this absolute gem on our doorstep. Matt accommodated all our extra requests for our friends 50th, including opening early and preparing our table with a few surprises. The food was, as it always is, excellent and generous in portion size, and Matt’s attention made our evening feel relaxed, special and unique. Nothing is too much bother, including cooking tips! We have visited Aroma several times now for their Bistro evening menu and have been consistently impressed. A cafe by day, on Friday and Saturday nights it turns into a cosy restaurant venue. A warm welcome is assured from Matt who is front of house, whilst Nat is behind the scenes in the kitchen. And that’s it, just the two of them. The menu is understandably not massive, but there’s a good selection of starters, mains and desserts, and the dishes are varied every couple of months or so. All are reasonably priced, and there’s a good selection of wines available too. All the dishes we’ve had to date have been excellent, with cod loin wrapped in Parma ham, confit duck leg, Sussex lamb leg, and a fish pie being particular highlights so far. A lovely local small business that is very worthy of supporting. Booking is advisable for the bistro nights as there’s only a small number of tables.

This place is worth travelling miles to. Luckily it's within walking distance for me. The food is always delicious. I am a coeliac and the range of gluten-free food here is outstanding. Matt is so attentive. I've had evening meals here and afternoon tea and it is a perfect place to eat and drink. Next on the list is weekend breakfast. I can't recommend it highly enough. Bistro night is Friday and Saturday. If you're looking for a treat then this is the place.

I have eaten at Aroma on a number of occasions. On each such, the food has been outstanding, the service exemplary and the whole experience tremendous. I would not hesitate to recommend Aroma to anybody.

We booked early for Aroma’s Mother’s Day afternoon tea as My mum loved it so much last year. She was keen that we return. On the morning however she wasn’t feeling well. When I contacted the cafe, Matt and Nat could not have been more helpful in ensuring we were still able to enjoy an amazing afternoon tea. They boxed this all up for us so we could take this to her and still enjoy afternoon tea with Mum.. she really appreciated this … as did my Dad who was able to share too. Our highlight is the range of savoury treats which included sandwiches and pastries. The scones and other sweets were delicious too.

Not the most welcoming staff - made us feel like he was doing us a favour giving us a table ( most were prebooked - Sunday morning ) The advocado with poached egg on toast was a tiny portion - the two small end cuts of toast were barely visible underneath a small poached egg and some advocado. It looked a bit lost in the middle of the plate. At least one full sized slice of toast to the side would have helped ! My wife had the scrambled egg and smoked salmon which was a decent portion and came with adequate toast. When I went to pay, our server didn’t ask how everything was - so I politely mentioned the rather small portion and lack of toast - apparently no one had mentioned it before. If I wanted something more substantial I should have had the grilled breakfast. Surely !

Absolutely delicious afternoon tea at Aroma for Mother’s Day today. Fresh sandwiches, lovely savoury baked goods, melt in the mouth scones and very tasty cakes!

Went for lunch at Aroma today with my best friend, fabulous food and service, what a treat to have delicious, hot and beautifully presented food and attentive service. I am often dissapointed when I go out to eat but this was faultless, I am a gluten free veggie and the veggie breakfast was spot on. I am a chef myself so I really appreciate decent food when I get it. I will will be back. 10 out of 10 :)

It was blowing a gale with torrential rain outside but cosy inside with delicious home cooked food. Vegetarians are well catered for and the home cooked dessert range was irresistible. Highly recommended!

A golf club friends annual dinner for 16 of us . Excellent tans owner served us. Very good value to. Tagine and lemon possit all good. Ordered in advance so they knew what we wanted. Would definitely recommend.

We had our third consecutive annual dinner at Aroma for sixteen of us.The food prepared by Nat was superb in both presentation and taste. The service by Matt, was as always, slick, smooth, efficient and professional. We shall return for sure.

We celebrated our son's birthday with a meal at Aroma. Our meals were delicious and the portions extremely generous. The beef curry was really succulent and we'll spiced, fish and dauphinoise potatoes very tasty, rich and creamy 😋. The choice of puddings and cheeses are well balanced: sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake were both delicious. It is a really stylish venue but has a warm, welcoming atmosphere: Matt and Nat work hard and provide excellent food and service. Veggie and vegan diners are catered for. We're so lucky to have this in Hassocks, we always have a great time.

We could not fault the food (and wine). The starters of sweet chilli chicken and caramelised onion and cheese rounds were delicious. It didn’t stop there though … great cod loin in Parma and pulled beef curry, oh so good. I continued eating way beyond my limit. Still managed to find space for sticky toffee pudding and affogato! Just looking for an excuse to go back.

I often visit for lunch but I recently returned for another lovely Friday evening bistro experience with my husband. The atmosphere is relaxed and quiet, the food and service are amazing. So lovely to be able to walk somewhere and not have to worry about taxi's home etc. I would definitely recommend.

Been here twice now and loved it both times. Staff are so friendly and attentive. Food was amazing. They have specials board and a nice usual menu too. First time I went I tried the pie from the specials board which was great. The most recent time I had a Brie and bacon toastie followed by an amazing Biscoff cheesecake. Both were fantastic and left me wanting to come back again!

Looking for somewhere to meet friends for brunch, I found Aroma Cafe & Kitchen through an online search. As we were a group of five, one of whom is disabled, I emailed to check suitability and whether we could reserve a table. Matt replied quickly, answered all my questions, and was very helpful, so I booked. The venue is spotless, and although small, there is still space between tables. Service was polite and prompt. Plenty of choice on the menu, including soup, quiche & pie of the day. Two of our party ordered the full English breakfast, but neither wanted mushrooms, so were offered hash browns instead. I ordered the pie of the day; chicken, spinach & feta (delicious). I was offered veg & saute potatoes, but opted for a bit of salad with honey & seed dressing. Everybody said their food was tasty, good quality, and plentiful. Tempted by the chilled display, I chose a strawberry & lemon posset (sooo good). The others chose various cakes, which were polished off to continuous "mmmm" sounds. There is an accessible toilet, although it may prove challenging to manoeuvre a wheelchair in and out due to the proximity of the counters. As we were leaving, Matt suggested we might try a Friday or Saturday evening next time. We all agreed Aroma Cafe and Kitchen was a gem of a find, and will definitely be returning. Highly recommended.

We had a beautiful afternoon tea at Aroma for Mothers Day last Sunday. Each element of the tea was homemade in house and absolutely delicious. The items were a little bit different to what you would normally see in an afternoon tea… We particularly enjoyed the frittata and lemon posset. There was so much food we had to take some home. Lovely atmosphere with attentive friendly front of house staff. Would wholeheartedly recommend.
