Bella & Meg's in Mid Sussex

As I vegan, I never expect to be able to eat anything special when I’m not in my home town of go to comforts.. but I was so blown away by their vegan rainbow sandwich! (Can’t remember it official name!) It was so beautifully presented and in abundance, it was such a treat! One of the best bites I’ve had in ages. Thank you! Left so happy !

Such an amazing cafe we visited yesterday with a beautiful outdoor area and such lovely staff/owners. The coffee has definitely got some fairy dust in it as I was flying on a cloud all day! Thank you Chantel and team, we will be back!!!

Cute cafe in Hassocks. My husband and I stopped for lunch and enjoyed our jacket potatoes. I also really liked their elderflower iced tea. They had a patio area, but we chose to sit inside. It was cozy without feeling crowded and the bathroom was clean too.

I can understand why the reviews are as good as they are as the food was very good. However, our experience was somewhat let down poor customer service. Despite the menu consisting of just sandwiches, jackets and cakes I was somewhat disappointed to have to wait 50 minutes for our food to arrive as specially as it was lunchtime and we didn't have that much time. When we posed the question of how much longer our food would take to arrive we simply got a shrug of the shoulders from the waitress and told we are rather busy. A gentleman dining on his own also happened to ask the same question and received the same response and then they got his order wrong. I accept that food service does get busy but a better attitude from the older waitress of the two may have made us come back in the future but I don't believe we will.

Very nice clean and friendly staff. Food made to order was fresh and hot. Will go back on my next visit to Hassocks.

The best vegan toastie I’ve ever tried! This place doesn’t scrimp on the filling either, that’s how you do a toastie!! Lovely staff and highly recommend for a quick bite.

Bella and Megs provided a variety of savouries and finger sandwiches that we served at our Coronation Party at Age Concern Hassocks. We collected the food on the morning of the event so everything was very fresh. All the food extremely tasty and very well presented in tailor-made closed trays. Our members thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful and what wasn't consumed on the day was taken home for supper. We received lots of compliments about the food so thanks ever so much Bella and Meg for helping to make a very memorable day for us!

Really cosy, friendly, unfortunately they have got my allergy order incorrect on several occasions. They never have gf and df cake options when I go, but they do have either gf or df options. Good coffee with a variety of milk options too.

We have breakfast and coffee here regularly, the food never disappoints and the service is always excellent. Tastefully decorated and a joy to visit!

I held a private bridal shower function at Bella and Meg’s this weekend and it was just fantastic! Amazing food, wonderful and friendly service and communication from enquiry to the actual day was brilliant. The staff are friendly and accommodating and we’re great with the dietary requirements of the group. It was a beautiful afternoon. Will be booking again for future special occasions and visiting when passing for food and coffee

We had our Mum's wake at Bella & Meg's. The buffet looked beautiful and the food was delicious. We had a selection of finger sandwiches with a range of tasty fillings and delicious homemade miniature cakes and scones. It's a very comfortable café and the décor is stylish and modern. Nothing seemed too much for the owners Phil and Chantal.

We’re regulars here. The staff are lovely, the coffee very good, the food excellent- and the malted milk chocolate slice is the greatest cake ever made and deserves its own award. The white chocolate version is good too, but just a little too sweet. Highly recommended.

Spot on! Cannot recommend highly enough their fabulous Full English Afternoon Tea which was kindly delivered to our house in Hassocks. So much wonderful food and what a fantastic diverse selection and top quality too! Came beautifully packed and boxed and even with two Christmas crackers. Delicious variety of freshly made sandwiches, cakes, scones, jam, cream, mince pies, tea bags and even sausage rolls. What a fantastic pick-me-up at only £12.50 per person, delivered in Hassocks. This would be at least £30 per person in a good hotel, if not more. Don’t miss it!!

WOW!! Firstly the service is exemplary. I purchased a selection of cupcakes for a surprise birthday brunch and was concerned at the last minute about a nut allergy. However there really was no need to panic as my mind was put at ease immediately, I was told of all ingredients straight away. Now if I had to choose a favourite (which isn’t easy) it has to be the raspberry and coconut, THIS IS A MUST!!! Oh and mum highly recommends the cream tea. This place scores a definite 10/10. So pleased Bella & Meg’s was recommended to me!!! Thanks all x

We had a small family party on a Saturday evening here, phil provided an array of menu choices to suit everyone . The venue was set up beautifully , the waitresses were so accommodating and helpful , the food was superb and the portions huge it was proper home cooking only I didn’t have to do it ! My parents had the best time and were so happy to be able to stay local . Bella and Megs is an absolute asset to Hassocks village and I would have no hesitation in recommending it

Firstly I can see why the reviews are very good for Bella and Meg's, it is an asset to the village and a great place to go for just a coffee, a light lunch or the Friday night bistro. However perhaps I could try some constructive criticism. We visited last Friday and had a lovely evening but my comments firstly would be it was a shame we had to wait such an inordinately long time for our pre dinner drinks, then why was our choice restricted to exclusively vegetarian starters? Towards the end of our meal why serve our coffees before we had even seen our deserts? It's these little touches that could make a good place really great. Being such a small restaurant with few covers and the chef in full view of the diners it would be great if he came out round the tables later in the eve to chat to his customers and see how their evening went? As I say, it's an asset to the village but there's room for improvement. We'll certainly be back.

Superb roasted vegetable and mozzarella open sandwich. Staff very friendly and attentive. Nothing too much trouble. Definitely recommend.

This is a local family business named after the owners daughters. They give a great service and have great tasting coffee. The breakfasts are excellent

On short notice, my wife and I decided to go and indulge in the Full Monty at Bella & Meg's. It was wonderful. Phil cooked everything superbly and it was beautifully presented. As always, the service was great - friendly, personable and efficient - once I had figured out that you have to go to the counter to make your order! We love this place. The decor is relaxing and comfortable and the food and service always way above what you would expect in a high street coffee shop. Don't forget the brilliant Friday evenings when they put on a lovely à la carte menu.

Always receive a warm welcome from the friendly owners and staff here. Breakfast is fabulous as is their lunch menu, Visit as often as we can to support a deserving local business. I'm told that they are also open one or two evenings but havn't tried that yet.

My mum lives in Hassocks and I always enjoy coming to this place whenever I’m visiting. The service is very friendly, they serve an excellent cappuccino and the food is very tasty...what more could you ask for!

This superb little café cum bistro on Friday evenings, has now started an early Supper Club (5 to 7pm) one course offering on Thursday nights to attract families or others during the summer holidays. We tried it last night and had a really delicious Chile con Carne with cheesed nachos and sauces for only £7.95 per person. Really excellent value and wonderful service from the delightful and welcoming, Bella. Lovely place and have now subsequently booked a table of ten for a couple of weeks time! Try it, you won't be disappointed!

Last night was the first of what iIhope will be regular "Supper Club" evenings. A fixed lasagne menu with both meat and veggie/gluten -ree options. We had the beef version and the portion was generous with mixed salad a perfect side order together with garlic bread. Fairly priced, excellent service and nice atmosphere despite not being particularly busy. Nice small menu of desserts too. Highly recommended.

Had a lovely time at Bella and Megs. We had reserved a table for 14 for a Birthday Brunch post morning run. Chantelle, Phil and the team had decorated the table beautiful and were able to cater for all our dietary requirements. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. The coffee was also really good. Chantelle made the most amazing gluten free, vegan and nut free lemon drizzle and blueberry cake. A big thank you to everyone

This was the first time I've visited this cafe. Lovely comfortable seating, great atmosphere, friendly staff and reasonably priced. Delicious chai latte and coffe and tasty toasted sandwiches and salads.

A cafe during 6 days of the week providing an excellent choise of coffees and teas, as well as home made cakes to suit all tastes including those with special dietary requirements. On a Friday evening it is opened as a Bistro - it has a high demand and reservation is essential - anything up to three weeks ahead.All of the staff are friendly and helpful and customer service is their top priority.

This cafe is a real asset for Hassocks with a lovely friendly atmosphere. It has a varied menu at lunchtime of quiches, sandwiches and jackets and several sweet choices. If I had one wish it would be that the staff took your order at the table rather than one of the party having to go up to the counter to order drinks and each individual course.

Had a very nice lunch small menu but enough to find something you like. The cake looked lovely. The food was good and staff very pleasant. Very clean and nicely designed.

We love this family run, friendly café, which converts to a delightful, intimate bistro every Friday evening. Very friendly service and lovely food. Our favourite place for Friday evenings with friends.

What a fabulous cafe. Not been in before last week. Had homemade soup for lunch. Super tasty. Made me want to go back for morning coffee and croissant, which was also delicious. This lovely café recently opened in Hassocks and has already established itself as a great place to go for coffee etc. or a light lunch. However, the really excellent news is that Phil, the owner/chef and his wife, Chantelle, have decided to open for a bistro-like dinner experience on Friday nights. We heard about this from friends and went with four of us last night. It was fantastic and way beyond our expectations! The welcome and service were really top rate - very friendly but also extremely efficient throughout the meal. The food cooked by Phil himself was really super. The limited menu, but not too small with about six starters and six main courses as well as desserts, was a delight to choose from and when the food came it was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. Although a humble café in the day time, there is a very cosy, bistro atmosphere in the evening and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Prices are very reasonable including the good wine list. Well done to Phil and his team. Everything was far better than many of the so called restaurants in the surrounding area and very reasonably priced. WE SHALL RETURN FOR SURE!

Went for the first time today with my son. Probably the best brie and bacon toastie I have ever had with a good salad and nice coffee too, will go back soon to try the breakfast. Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice cafe with friendly staff and great food

Our local club hired this Cafe/Restaurant mid-week for our Christmas do. We had a set menu and we had all pre-ordered our choices. What can I say: Wow - the food was amazing, the staff were friendly and really organised, even sorting out 17 peoples separate bar bills. We had guests of different ages and tastes, we had room to play a few games and everyone had such a lovely evening. I will come back and visit during the day or one of the bistro evenings.Thank you.

We were travelling through Hassocks thinking it would be nice to stop for a coffee and not at one of the awful nearby garden centres. Then we saw this place which was recommended to us recently by a neighbour who'd been for breakfast and said how good it was. We were not disappointed. it was very cosy, inviting and with friendly staff. The lunchtime menu looked good, along with all the cakes. So our next visit will be for a meal. From our first impressions, they deserve to do well as an independent shop, far batter than any chain.

Its always nice to find a high-street cafe that serves decent tea, coffee and accompaniments with a personal feel about it. Too often the chain coffee shops (eg. Caffe Nero and Starbucks) feel like production lines with little regard to the overall customer experience. Not so Bella & Meg's. This gem of a coffee shop is as friendly and welcoming as you could wish for, with a delicious range of cakes and lunchtime snacks (the toasted sandwiches are especially good). The place has a cosy, comfortable feel about it, and when the weather is right, there is a (small) outdoor seating area for watching the world go by. We haven't tried the breakfast offerings yet, but it won't be long !!

A fairly new cafe in our delightful village run by a mum named after her two daughters. The decor is very pleasing and there is a small but comfortable eating area outside. I have met friends there several times for a coffee or in my case a delicious hot chocolate. They have recently opened on a Friday evening for evening meals which are excellent and they also now have a drinks licence. All the food is home made and the snacks and cakes etc very tempting.
