Great little place, what a gem. Loads of ales and different Gins. Cosy seating.

The Engine Room has just been voted Pub of The Year by North Sussex CAMRA! A great bar specialising in cask beer, local ciders and a wonderful selection of local spirits.

Atmospheric bar. Loads of pump clips on the walls. It is said they never have the same beer twice! Today they had an excellent porter on number 4

Best real ale pub I know. Wonderful quirky brick basement with small rooms. Large and ever changing real and craft ales plus ciders, local gins, spirits and wine. Something for all tastes except fizzy lager.

Amazing night with my mate. Had some great tasting beer at a reasonable price. What more could you want?

Unusual bar two flights down stairs. Small but cosy bar with loads of real ales, as well as usual spirits and small wine offering.

Love it. Great knowledgeable bar staff and a brilliant assortment of ales, beers and ciders. Even a good range of alcohol free beers and ales which is nice if you're driving. Great atmosphere too where you can really find your own spot to chill out. Sensible price, support local!

This is a fantastic Leacroft via Lex in this heart of his Gadd, which is well worth checking out. It’s cosy got super wide selection of beer, stout ciders, and every other drink you can think of highly recommend, checking it out if you hear one of the best places in town.

The best beer pub for miles around. An ever-changing selection of interesting cask and keg beers, always in a variety of styles. Great atmosphere and the staff are lovely. It's always a pleasure to visit.

I've worked 60 seconds away from this place since they opened but only discovered them recently! Would highly recommend. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is amazing and the beer is out of this world. It changes multiple times a week sometimes and is always from small breweries. A warning though, it is the smallest pub you'll ever go to so you may not get a seat if it's busy. Loads of seating upstairs at street level though!

Best real ale pub in East Grinstead by far. Lovely beer that they only get once and then never again. I like that so you don't get stuck with too much repetition. It is a bit small, but it makes it more cozy and available for conversations with strangers. A must visit

After trailing around all of east grinstead looking for a pub or bar that served gluten free beer, we finally found the engine room, seemingly the only place here that even knows what gluten free is! Jo the bartender was very helpful even coming back to the table after a while to say she’d found another for me to try.

Great traditional pub with excellent choices of ales and also gins. Pub quiz night on Thursdays is a lot of fun.

Like an underground escape room, except that you don't want to escape. Great hosts, friendly regulars and very generous establishment. Had a lovely family and friends afternoon following the coronation big lunch on Sunday. Fantastic beer selection of course

Not to be missed if in the area. Down the stairs is a labyrinth of small rooms & the bar. There is outside seating at street level & sometimes live music. Selection of cask & craft ale + cans.

Everyone (staff and customers) was really friendly, there is a great selection of drinks and it was a good price too.

A fantastic experience off the High Street. A veritable rabbit warren with comfortable little nooks and crannies throughout once you get down the stairs. An excellent range of beers and (apparently) gins. The staff were lovely and quite helpful. The Hand Brew Co Chop (Oatmeal Stout) was excellent as was the Verdent Brewing Co Lamanva Best Bitter and Firebrand Brewing Co Bootleg Billy and An Howl Golden Ale.

The Plumpton Wanderers enjoyed a great Sunday afternoon at today's beer festival - definitely worth a visit for beer options & ambience.

Excellent craft beer pub just off the high street. They serve beers, ciders and ales straight from the keg. There is a huge variety on offer and there is something for everyone. They also have a large selection of spirits too. My new favourite place in East Grinstead!

This place is like no other. My favorite not only in England but ever. Cozy separate rooms. One a bit bigger with table and chairs for bigger group. Very friendly.

The best pub in East Grinstead. Enjoyed a couple whilst watching England's sad departure from the 2022 World Cup. Friendly atmosphere and good beer, what's not to like - well the football I suppose.

Such a great pub. Quirky and split over several levels, including a covered outside area. Access is via a sheepish slope to the main door and then down via steps. Not that accessible for those with mobility challenges. Very friendly bar staff on both times I have visited. Excellent range of beers including several quality Belgian beers.

As stated in other reviews this is the best pub in East Grinstead!! The staff are very friendly the real ale is fantastic and the way the place is set out is brilliant.

The Engine Room is a great place, and no more so than on Friday afternoon ( / evening) when I popped in for the proverbial "one or two". Not only was there the usual array of great beers, but there was also some great food to soak it up with - including some tasty sausage rolls, home-made by Steve the barman (he's the one who's always smiling). There was the usual friendly atmosphere, both in the cool of the cellar bar and the warmth of the outside seating area. And to be fair, Steve isn't the only one who smiles - there's plenty of warmth from everyone behind the bar! Any day of the week (apart form Mondays).

Friendly staff and fantastic beer

Easily the best pub anywhere nearby, great and varied beer selection (especially cask), very reasonable prices, especially considering it’s craft beer and not macro beers, and the staff are always friendly.

Myself and my partner came for an afternoon of romance and comedy. Pinnacle provided the best atmosphere, with an exceptional menu and beverages to match. Great afternoon out and I will certainly be attending said venue again.

My first visit here. I was blown away but the amount of rooms, all decorated nicely. The staff were friendly and helpful. We ordered food in which was a nice twist to the evening. Loved my visit and I will be back again.

Our large group came from all over for a party at the Meridian Hall and this was the RV point - some of us started drinking here at 1pm. The barman and the owner were incredibly hospitable, played Marillion for us and poured gin and fruity cider tirelessly for 5 hours. And provided plates so we could eat takeaway pizza. The outdoor area was perfect in the sunshine and downstairs is cosy, dark and has the heady smell of wine cellar and risqué behaviour 🤣Thank you so much for welcoming us!

A mate and I spent a great evening here. Friendly staff and great beers (cask, keg and can) including a wide selection of stouts & porters which many pubs lack. Good selection of bar snacks, too, plus you can order in your takeaways if you want.

Superb as usual if you like proper beer kept perfectly then this is the place for you. Thanks for keeping this going during these interesting times. Sitting outside at the moment but looking forward to cosy inside very soon.

A must if your visiting town and like to try all the tops pubs on route. Strong beers only. Pork pies, scotch eggs and pickles on standby. The place is sectioned off with small seating rooms and the smallest smoking area I have had pleasure to stand in.

Great prices, great choice! Always good music and nice atmosphere, very reasonable prices and every thursday there is a great offer on a gin of the week. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Games to borrow and play too!

A real gem! So pleased we're discovered this bar. I didn't even particularly like beer till I came here but they have some beauties in particular vanilla beer. There's also interesting ciders and local gins we have yet to work through. Friendly staff and quirky atmosphere - love it!!!
