Gurkha Spice in Mid Sussex

Food was delicious, however my order was placed at 5.30 and not received until 7.50, by which point it was cold. I chased at 7pm and was told my order was ready awaiting a delivery driver.

Went to this restaurant early March this year, foods were alright not too Nepali or Indian sorts. Portions were not that much for the price, felt ripped off ! Could do with better chef ! Everything was there but no taste.

Thought I'd try a new take-away as I needed delivery. Not impressed. Onion Bharji's were burnt. Garlic Chilli Chicken was a poor average. Basic sauce, not much chicken. Very sub-average.

Delivery was very late. Delivery guy changed that delivery status to ‘delivered’ before actually delivering

What a fantastic place.. we ordered online but clicked pickup instead of deliver... 😓 We rang them an hour later realising our mistake and they delivered hot food and only asked 50p more for the delivery... wow wow wow ... in this day and age of greed etc what a fantastic place! We have used them for a long time and will continue to do so... perfect food and perfect service... thank you .. Paul and tracey ansty

We've ordered several times from here and it's been great. However this time, although the food was hot and on time, the Madras and Gurkha special were incredibly salty. We struggled to eat half of it, the Passanda was good though. Poppadoms were also a bit soft. Maybe a problem with this batch of sauce?

Food was delicious and my children said it was the best curry they have ever had.

We were house-sitting in the area and booked a meal at Gurkha Spice. We thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the overall experience. Tek, the owner, is very friendly and has a fascinating backstory related to the restaurant. We will be spreading the word and will definitely be back!

Tasteless food. We ordered saag paneer and veg noodles and it was very bad, Saag paneer was like we are eating some dessert so had to discard it :( Only veg momo came good in taste. Other than that terrible food i can say (mood off)

First time I’ve used Gurkha Spice and will definitely be using them again. 40 minute on a Friday was excellent imho. Food was delicious, hot and you could tell is was just out of the oven. Very pleased and would certainly recommend them.

The food was very Delicious and authentic taste due to Sichuan Pepper taste in Gurkhali Ali Dum , Grilled Lamb Sekuwa and Chicken . Cooked by the Owner himself with such a love and his magical hand ; the food was absolute to the perfection in taste . The potato wedges were not to be forgotten to recommend plus the Naans in the basket . Peaceful and loved the background old classic Nepalese music playing without any disturbances while talking and eating. Bill worth just £50 for 3 people with happy tummy after food and drink :)

Great curry and tandoori restaurant in Burgess Hill. The owner is very friendly and the food is delicious. We had popadoms, chicken and vegetables momos (Nepalese dumplings), king prawn naga curry (amazing if you love hot and spicy), tandoori mixed grill, pilau rice, naan bread and kulfi ice cream. Loved every dish and the service was personal.

Three of us ate a range of curries all excellent. Friendly not intrusive service. Would very happily eat there again. Loved it.

We had the most delicious take away, all the food was excellent and the portions were very generous. A quick and effective service. 👌

Onion bhaji over cooked, rice dry, nann soggy and too thick, chicken shashlik did was slightly charred as it should be, pepper, onion and chicken all anaemic. pepper not even properly de-seeded. Disappointed but typically predictable for a Friday evening. If the restaurant cannot cope then why do home delivery.

First time here but definitely not the last! Really good food and service with a cosy but not crowded atmosphere.

Recently discovered this restaurant for take away. The food is delivered hot and is fresh tasting and full of flavour. The website is good for online orders and as mentioned they also deliver. Highly recommend! 👍🏼

First time eating at Gurka Spice and can confirm I was not disappointed and will definitely be back. The momo was lovely and we had Lamb Sakura for starter which was incredibly flavoursome and spicy. The portion sizes were not massive, however me and my partner had 2 starters, a shared rice, shared naan, sag paneer and a curry each and we could not move after the food! A sign of a good curry! Portions any bigger would have been wasteful. Staff were very attentive and friendly and atmosphere was great! Thank you for a great evening!

I chose the vegan balti, it was delicious!

Saturday evening so you expected a delay, but an hour and 45mins is excessive and late. A phone call would be great just to say it is late. The curries were ok/average. My chicken was supposed to be chicken tikka, but wasn’t. Nan bread was good.

Our first visit and certainly won’t be our last. The food was delicious with attentive friendly service, even being offered glasses to read the menu, after leaving mine at home. Decided to go for the Nepalese lamb special which was one of the best curries I’ve tasted. Very good value for money

Further visit to Gurkha Spice in Burgess Hill, friendly welcome, great menu and reasonably price drinks menu, we went with two friends who had not visited before who really enjoyed it. You can order on line and i believe they also deliver. We really enjoyed our recent visit and we shall return soon!

I’d been meaning to try this newish restaurant (apparently they’ve now been open for one year) for a while now - so pleased we did! I’d looked up the reviews beforehand and have to agree with the all the positive comments, it really was first class. There are lots of familiar Indian dishes on the menu, but we were keen to try some of the Nepalese specialities and they were very happy to guide us. This included the Momo (Nepalese style dumplings), Gurkha Grill Sekuwa (grilled lamb), and Gurkha Special Curry. Every dish was delicious, and the accompanying naan bread was great too. Service was excellent throughout, and a particular mention to the owner who’s such a nice man. It was very clear he took great pride in his restaurant and really cared that all his customers were enjoying their meals. From what we saw and heard from the other diners all the comments were very positive. We booked for a Friday evening, and as it’s quite a small restaurant (around 20 covers) I’d say making a reservation is advisable for peak times. We’ll be back again very soon. Great places like this deserve to thrive.

Super alternative to a regular Indian—try it to taste the difference!

Veg samosa was so spicy I couldn’t eat them which is disappointing. The buttered chicken was just a korma. The rest of the food was nice and hot

Absolutely delicious food with a good amount of options for vegans. Yashika was such a lovely and welcoming server! Two glasses of Prosecco, two curries, a naan, chapati, rice and poppadoms was only £40, would definitely recommend!

We are regular customers, but the last couple of weeks our food was below expectations. Last week the papadums tasted a bit burnt. Today, my korma didn’t taste like the usual korma that I often order from this place. What’s going on? Have they changed the chef?

Wonderfully friendly and helpful team, we were a party of 4 and all agreed that it was the best curry we've had in a long time. I had the Gorkha Special, it was very tasty, perfect level of heat, enough to know I'm eating a hot curry but not so mush as to hide the flavour. Definitely will return!

Popadums had a strange taste like old cooking oil , onion bahjee were very dry and chicken tikka in curries didn’t taste like tikka at all , bothe curries were very watery , shame first time we have tried this take away won’t be using again

We have just had a family meal (two adults, two children under 10) and had a fantastic experience! It was our first visit and can confidently say the food was delicious. The portion sizes also generous. We tried a mixture of dishes Nepalese and Indian all was really tasty, we really were impressed. The kids gave their meals 10/10, the chicken pakora starter was child friendly and a first time try for them and they loved it. We were very well looked after by the staff whilst inside, they paid special attention to the children, which went a long way in our book. They gave our children complimentary desert. We will be back! We cleared all our plates so it was money well spent. (my daughter aged 7 says they were very kind people)

Like most of the Indian restaurants round Burgess Hill this one didn't live up to much.. my dish was meant to be mild but had a lot of heat so was disappointed. Not only that the chicken on both dishes was cooked too quickly thus was like rubber...naan was bland and stodgy...all in all not great value at all...not worth our hard earned money..wont be going back..May as well have bought a tesco one..

I ate here tonight with two friends. We cannot speak highly enough about the quality of the food, the service and the general ambience. Nothing was too much trouble and the Nepalese beer is definitely recommended. Not only the best curry in town but a definite candidate for the best restaurant in Burgess Hill. We will gladly return.

Both mains where very watery due to not prepared freshly, and kept deep frozen,which is understanding, but why not boil up and add extra souce before serving... it is not nice guality.
