Chilston Manor hotel is a lovely hotel with friendly staff but I and my husband were very disappointed with what they call a luxury afternoon tea…we had three little finger sandwich's with hardly any filling in them….dry scones…what was nice was the sausage roll,we had to ask for the tea as it didn’t arrive, when it did it was stewed & strong…will be returning NO !!!!

Poor excuse for a take away, bland and tasteless and the satay chicken in some sort of sausage was dire and the egg fried rice resembled wallpaper paste !! £75 for 4 of us ! I’m not ordering again because I want good food, not rubbish !!

Staying at the hotel - have eaten lunch and dinner there. The menu is all easy griddle, microwave or fried food. Which is a real surprise considering How long it took to prepare! The burger also arrived and missed the flavours / sauces in the description and to add insult to injury the condiments were all sachet. The bar was SLOWER than an unmanned bar, and no table service if your in easy chairs. So you have to 'claim' your space with a jumper before a TWENTY minute wait at the bar to be served. Even then they were sold out of a number of lines. If mobility is an issue be aware there are steps from the entrance to the restaurant - there is a chair lift, but still. On the plus side, it make me resolved to try alternatives nearby and I found some great places.

The place was empty and the 2 ladies working there were too busy chatting to each other (turned away from the counter) to notice anyone waiting. Tried to get their attention but music was loud and was ignored. We were clearly an inconvenience so we won’t return.

Placed my order for 5 fish and chips only to be told when it came to pay they only took cash. I haven’t carried cash for 5 years. In a world where many organisations (wrongly in my opinion) are cashless it seems very odd that this establishment won’t take cards. Had to leave without our meal as I only had my phone didn’t have a card to get cash. Won’t be back unless they start to accept card payment on phone.

Food here is so good! It’s so hard what to choose! The iced coffee is 10/10 too! Had the rosti breakfast and added a few extras and was not disappointed! More people need to know about this little place! Looking forward to trying the supper club and the kid’s activities in the next half term.

Good space, and decent staff but poor/expensive food. Breakfast was OK for our large group of golfers, however a lunch tuna sandwich was so thin of filling I had to complain - for £7.50 was a rip off. everything else about the bar was pretty good, although did close quite early. Suspect other food pricing not great either

I thoroughly recommend Waterstone's cafe in Maidstone. I am a coeliac and they always ask if anyone has allegies, check in their folder and show you. They use a clean pair of tongs and whilst they can't guarantee cross contamination, they take every possible care. The GF Cappuccino cake is delicious (just leave me some!!). I feel confident eating there and it is my favourite place to have lunch/snack in Maidstone.

Food was OK but not worth the money paid, took a long time to get served. Over the course of the evening the same drinks got more expensive as the evening went on £18 at the start for two double gin and lemonade but by the end of the evening the same drinks were £20.50.

Nb .that’s not a photo of the RR above ! It’s a rather tatty old shed , a few dark and gloomy tables inside the shed , rarely used, most people sit outside. There are outside seats for maybe 80 people or more . It’s in the middle of a small marina boatyard , surrounded by boats on the ground. It is quite pleasant on a nice sunny day to sit with a tea and gaze at the swans , ducks etc on the Medway. On a Wednesday evening in the summer, 5-9pm you get maybe 100 bikers there. Very friendly and sociable , mainly old geezers on classic bikes. Like me ! Downsides : over priced for what it is. Compared to Blackheath tea hut , particularly. A tea and cake is £7. Burgers and chips around £13. Quality is ok rather than wonderful. My personal bugbear is the lack of proper toilets. Just a plastic portaloo. Yuk. Ok for a break , on a sunny day. If you want better, head on up to the teapot island cafe in yalding.
