This place was very nice. Food was very good, choice is standard with an Indian. The décor was nice and modern. I will use again.

This really is the most excellent Indian restaurant. Now it's 22nd year with the same proprietor in residence, the manager keeps everybody happy, nothing is too much trouble. Dishes can be served from the vast menu, just as you like it. The meat is sourced and purchased locally. The waiters are very proficient and serve the meals well, explaining the dishes as they present them. Apart from recommended for individuals or couples it is always good for parties. One can also take the whole restaurant for private functions and having done this more than once, it really works with the assistance of the owner.

We ordered a takeaway last night. The meal was inedible, and apart from a couple of mouthfuls all went in the bin. I haven't used this restaurant since it changed hands, and what a disappointment. The main meal was insipid, and cold. The chicken was pink. The sauce smelt like chicken soup, and was a similar consistency, As I said before, the whole meal went in the bin.

This restaurant specialises in Southern Indian food and makes a really refreshing change to the vast majority of indian restaurants with their identical menus. This is especially true for vegetarians where we actually have a real choice of main courses including a selection of dosas which are marvellous. If you fancy an indian meal that's interesting, out of the ordinary and authentic then you could do a lot worse than visiting Krishna's.

Party of 11 adults and 3 children booked for early Saturday evening for my 50th birthday celebrations. Food took 2 hours to arrive by which time 3 of the party had to leave due to toddler needing bed. 2nd lot of drinks ordered took 40 minutes and 2 promptings to arrive. Food was ok, service was friendly but hopeless. This restaurant was recommended but it was such a disappointing experience, wish we'd got a take-away. What a waste of an evening. Friends and family had come from as far away as Yorkshire, I was so embarrassed.

This was our first visit to this new restaurant in Hawkhurst and a most enjoyable experience. A fantastic venue for vegetarians and meat eaters with offers of off menu dishes subject to notice. Try one of the dosa...a huge filled pancake with different fillings. All very good value.

Krishna is a refreshing and interesting addition to the restaurants on offer in Hawkhurst and thoroughly recommended if you can venture beyond the standard British take on Indian food. The food of southern India is completely different from the north which is our standard experience. The menu and cooking at Krishn's reflects this to the extent of needing to ask for help in understanding and ordering. The very helpful advice and explanation of the menu enabled us to order and enjoy a superb meal. A very different meal but full of wonderful flavours leaving us very satisfied without that heavy feeling. A great location for a meal after visiting the Kino cinema a few doors away. The only downside was that there were too few customers on our mid week evening so lacked a little in atmosphere. Try it with an open mind, go expecting a very different culinary experience but if you don't already know South Indian food ask for advice. It was also great value, at £45 for two, with beers.

Great old building creates a good atmosphere. the service was good at the start and the food as normal is very good. It was a shame that the service for desert was much longer than usual as they busy! Otherwise it would have been a five.

Had a takeaway and it was delicious. Not familiar with South Indian food so took a gamble on a few items and it was worth it. Yes it's not your bog standard curry house so the menu is different but all the better for it. Will order again.

It was fantastic to find this SOUTH Indian restaurant. It serves authentic south Indian food from Kerala - such a change from the 'standard' Indian on the High Street. The menu may look different, it may not contain all the usual dishes but the food they serve is exceptionally good. The dosas are unbelievable! Will certainly go back very soon and will recommend it to all my curry-eating friends. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly - they are very happy to help you through the menu if you are new to this type of Indian food. The restaurant is new and deserves support, and success, as it is the only authentic South Indian in a 30 mile radius. Wonderful.

Please don't waste your time, you will be wasting a lot of time...waiting at least an hour for your food, it will be served warmish. You will not have a warm welcome. It's dull and dank looking. The food is not very good. You won't get polite table service/ waited on. Or even a top up of drinks untill you ask. Terrible!!!!!!!!'

We were excited about the new Indian in Hawkhurst, and they did not let us down. There was so much variety and we loved the freshness of each of our dishes. Lots of new South Indian dishes to try, we had the Vada and the dosa, but my favorite was the fish curry. My little ones are fussy eaters so it was good to see the Korma and the tikka masala still on the menu.

We arrived at 8 and got our mains around 9.45! The restaurant wasn't even that busy but they do takeaways as well. The customers picking up their orders were clearly served first, as loads of bags kept going to the takeaway desk while were kept waiting at our table like idiots. Even our first drinks took ages and they kept forgetting items we ordered. At times they forgot cutlery, plates, etc. When our mains finally arrived, some where cold. Most food was tasty although mine was very bland and dull. While we waited they were never apologetic. At the very end they did offer us a tiny desert for free (a sip really) and mumbled something about keeping us waiting, but no real apology when the bill came, when a discount would have been in order. We definitely won't be going back.

After seeing the Indian restaurant in Hawkhurst had reopened we couldn't wait to try the all new Krishnas. We decided to try a takeaway first. It was awful. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the worst we've ever eaten. I usually have a korma, not because I like mild currys but because I enjoy the creamy, coconut flavour. The korma I had was so hot i struggled to eat it. I can tolerate very hot food usually. I can't imagine what it would've been like to someone who can only eat mild food. The meat was chewy and dry. The rice was insipid and flavourless. It had no colour a do was left feeling I could have cooked better myself. We are gutted as we feel we've lost our favourite Friday evening treat. Maybe it was just teething problems? Either way it was bad enough to prevent us from trying it again. Sorry Krishnas but you've lost our custom. (17 years of visiting Junaki on a regular basis)

food was delicious, South Indian food is tasty, aromatic and a little bit different. We had the Khozi chicken curry, with a lentil dish, a spinach dish and a cabbage and carrot thoran. The food wasn't oily or over salty, which is usually the case in most bog standard Indian restaurants. Can thoroughly recommend it and will be going again soon.

This is a new restaurant in Hawkhurst, which replaced Junaki. I think you get used to your local curry house, so what ever this was going to be would be difficult to swallow for many. The first thing you have to understand is that this is not the usual Bangladeshi cuisine to what you may be used to. This is a South Indian restaurant which is very different.I have eaten there a few times now, with the food always being first class! Be prepared to try a few things to get to know what you like, but the dosa is amazing.Acknowledging that this has been recently decorated, it is not quite finished yet, but is getting there. The main negative however is the service. It is very slow, but appears to be getting slowly better, so give it a chance I would say.

Great cooking and blend of spices that has more layers of taste than you expect compared with other Indian restaurants. A little less oil please, that is more than usual, but probably is the reason fo
