We hired The Bay Vegan Deli to cater for our wedding in September as it was really important to us that, not only was the food vegan, but that it was delicious and kept everyone full. It's safe to say Mel and her team blew us away with the incredible spread they put on. We were absolutely gobsmacked by the beautiful presentation, and all of our guests were wowed. Every single person we spoke to on the day (and since) complimented the food, saying it was absolutely delicious and they all went back for seconds (and some, thirds!) - what an amazing claim, considering the wedding of 50 guests had less than 5 vegans in attendance. Mel was professional, polite, calm, and just perfect to deal with from start to finish. Although she had another event to attend to after setting up, she left her very capable staff in charge of the buffet and they kept it topped up, tidy, and all cleaned down afterwards without a crumb left behind - the venue even complimented us the next day on how clean everything had been left! Just fantastic from start to finish. Mel & team, we cannot thank you enough for contributing to our special day. Hannah & Lyn xxx

Great lunch in friendly cafe in Sandown High St. Excellent food. Generous portions and very friendly service. Jerk chicken, goat curry, chickpea and veg curry all sampled and declared delicious. Friendly cheerful service. Rum cake for pudding and a sticky toffee pudding with custard were both great desserts.

An absolute delight tonight. Managed to get a last minute reservation and they kindly found space. Their pineapple dessert was out of this world, no idea what the sauce was but excellent.

The restaraunt we were looking for turned out to be closed so we ventured into Flanagans instead, we weren't sure about it at first if I'm honest, it looked more pub than restaraunt but we needed dinner so took a table. The bar server was friendly and passed us a couple of menus and pointed out the specials. Drinks ordered we sat and went through the menu but both decided on the beef and ale pie from the specials. Whatever misgivings I might have had disappeared as soon as I cut into the pie! This chef knows how to make pastry! And the filling was glorious, big chunks of tender beef, rich with ale and gravy it was easily one of the best steak pies I've ever tasted - and filled to the brim as well. A lovely buttery mash and fresh carrots and broccoli to accompany it along with an extra little pot of gravy. Proper home style cooking, loved it. If we ever come back to Sandown we will surely go back to Fanagans

Brilliant Sunday roast as ever. Arguably the best fish and chips in town, amongst many other menu options, all cooked on site. Dedicated restaurant area, separate dog friendly area for diners and a bar area where all can eat and drink also. This place has been called Sandow's hidden gem.... and how right that is.

A lovely location. Great food and drink only issue I would have is that the cost of a mug of tea and a small piece of cake was £6.45 which, to me, was pricey to say the least.

This cafe was next to my hotel, so I dropped in for a coffee and baguette before setting off to hike round to Ryde. Wish I'd discovered it sooner, as it was the best cafe I came across during my stay in Sandown. I had an egg-and-tomato baguette, which they knocked up very quickly (they are not ready made), and it was lush. I love eggs and always have them in a baguette, and I rate this the best egg baguette I had all summer. They'd done the eggs to perfection--so instead of the flat pale look slices of boiled egg usually have, these had the granular golden surface of good-quality eggs cooked very recently. I had a chat to the jolly, friendly ladies in this cafe, including a lovely Welsh one who told me everything is fresh. You wouldn't get a slice of yesterday's boiled egg in Planet Janet, that's for sure. And with lovely bread and fresh tomato slices too, it was just the perfect baguette experience, which is not often come by. That and a good coffee in this charming sea-front corner cafe set me up for my hike with a smile on my face.
