Well this was a great find! Don't be put off if your not vegan - good food is good food no matter what label it comes under - although we are vegan! We chose 2 dishes from the specials board. The West African peanut curry was incredible. I can honestly say that I haven't had a meal as good as that in years. there is a sweet courtyard at the back meaning that it is actually quite a big restaurant. I wish that I was a local so that I could eat here more frequently. For now it will just have to be enjoyed when on holiday.

This is set in a nice location overlooking Sandown seafront and peir. The food was good and the service was also good. Parking can be a little tricky but you should find somewhere on the seafront or in the High Street with a little perseverance. We were here for a music night to see our friends son sing however he had to pull out due to illness and a replacement drafted in. We weren't made aware of this change and stumbled across the altered line up by luck on the morning of our visit but, having contacted the restaurant about the change, we decided to still go along anyway for an evening out although others decided to pull out due to the change when we let them know. This is a good music venue and it's always good to see live music im such venues as it seems to be coming a rarity nowadays.

This my first time visiting this pub having not been to Sandown for many years. I was only planning to have a couple of drinks and move on. However the staff made me feel very welcome as a solo visitor and I ended up staying all afternoon and early evening! It was an afternoon when there was 6 Nations rugby and horse racing on the TV both of which they accommodated. There was a strong locals vibe throughout the time I was there and it's clear this pub has a key part to play in the local community. I didn't have any food but bookings were being taken for Sunday Lunch so it has a good reputation. All of the staff I spoke to were warm and friendly and I will defnitely call again the next time I'm in Sandown. The 'local' pub has sadly lost its way in recent times but it's certainly alive and kicking in this corner of Sandown. Keep it going! And thank you!

Arrived on the island and walked upon this place on a stunning January afternoon. I think we share the views of others... food was delicious, setting was memorable with blue skies and mill pond sea. BUT.. service was a let down sat and waited 40 mins for food and then forgot one of the dishes which meant one of us ate whilst others had finished. I think the right thing to do was to not charge for late meal.. but alas not offered. It was a great meal and only spoilt by the error. Would definitely go back, but would make sure we push on when the food is going to arrive.

This cafe was next to my hotel, so I dropped in for a coffee and baguette before setting off to hike round to Ryde. Wish I'd discovered it sooner, as it was the best cafe I came across during my stay in Sandown. I had an egg-and-tomato baguette, which they knocked up very quickly (they are not ready made), and it was lush. I love eggs and always have them in a baguette, and I rate this the best egg baguette I had all summer. They'd done the eggs to perfection--so instead of the flat pale look slices of boiled egg usually have, these had the granular golden surface of good-quality eggs cooked very recently. I had a chat to the jolly, friendly ladies in this cafe, including a lovely Welsh one who told me everything is fresh. You wouldn't get a slice of yesterday's boiled egg in Planet Janet, that's for sure. And with lovely bread and fresh tomato slices too, it was just the perfect baguette experience, which is not often come by. That and a good coffee in this charming sea-front corner cafe set me up for my hike with a smile on my face.
