What a lovely place to enjoy a coffee, cake, beer, food. The view here is fantastic. Very friendly owner.

Fantastic Lunch in the sunshine by the beach . Beach Hut , Steephill Cove , fantastic food and service , large Crab 🦀 salad and prawn sandwich , Perfect 👌

Lovely view and staff are friendly. However the food is expensive for what you get. It’s the smallest portion of fish and chips that I ever had. The fisherman’s platter isn’t really a platter, again tiny portions, with salads that has no flavour. Very disappointed and we were left feeling hungry. We live in London and you can get much better value for money meal than this.

We visited The Beach Shack on a sunny August day. The lady serving was super friendly and informative. We sat by the sea and all enjoyed our meals. The setting is undeniably gorgeous, the prawns delicious and the beer cold! What more could you want?

Delicious food but fairly pricey. Location was fantastic to eat and take in the sea views so can't complain. Would recommend.

Lovely breakfast, friendly staff, beautiful setting. Went for lunch a few days later and it was just as good. I couldn’t finish my meal - just too much but delicious.

I only had a coffee, but the service was great due to a welcoming smile, table service and a willingness to adjust the order. The atmosphere is good, and a nice menu choice

Returned this year as we recalled the pleasant lunch we had last time we visited. This time was also a pleasant lunch, with tapas style choices, eg mackerel fillet, salt and pepper squid etc etc. However, their full English breakfast was woeful, akin to the worst greasy spoon I’d had the misfortune of visiting. The fried egg was overcooked and looked like it had been dropped on the floor and scooped back up again - at least I assume it was the fried egg, I can only go on process of elimination. Underpinning everything was the cheap, poor quality ingredients, esp the sausages and bacon. Lord knows what the meat content of the sausages were, and the bacon was tough and cooked within an inch of its life. Limp already buttered toast, that looked like it was done yesterday, completed the sorry picture. I’d only come here for breakfast because the cafe a bit further on (my wife and daughter were on a mission to try their renowned smoothie bowls), still hadn’t delivered our cooked breakfast an hour after ordering, so cancelled it. So mixed reviews of beach shack, need to try somewhere else next time.

Simple, well prepared,fairly priced and tasty food! The avocado and halloumi smash was so tasty and visually pleasing. Great service and friendly atmosphere! Highly recommended

I went for the recommended crab sandwich but they didn't have it, I ordered the mushroom toast and the poached egg was completely cooked. The view is very beautiful being on the seashore.

Great location with friendly service. The so called sky-deck is pleasant. But stick to the staples like beer and wine and avoid the cocktails, our Mojito was sickly sweet and not great.

A very enjoyable stop on our walk, we had already had breakfast so didn't eat there but the menu looks excellent so planning a return trip for lunch. The cappuccino was excellent though and it's a lovely place to sit and look out at the ships.

A true gem. Amazing food, great service. The storm was rolling in and it was close to closing time yet we did not feel rushed. We had almost everything on the menu, plus drinks and coffees and each course was a 5/5. Definitely recommend!

What a lovely dog-friendly place on a rainy Sunday morning (and probably any other morning). Fabulously friendly staff, great fresh food, nice coffee and a waterfront view. Oh, and the hash-browns are scrummy.

Fantastic beach front restaurant. Can sit indoors or outside on the esplanade. Very friendly service, fantastic foot. Sri-Lanka fish curry soup was especially good.

Stopped here for a drink while walking the coast. Perfect location. Very friendly people. Good service and at 3pm on a January afternoon still seated outside in full sunshine. Perfect end to a lovely day. Will call in again to explore the menu!

Fantastic location, lovely food cooked to order. Super friendly staff. Always a pleasure to visit, especially when the sun is shining - not many locations to beat it! Had another lovely lunch in this very special spot. Food is always good and cooked to order. Staff are super friendly and always seem so pleased to see you. There can't be many locations to beat this little gem. Menu is changed periodically so always something new to sample (they even make their own pesto!) Breakfasts are great as are sandwiches and seafood dishes. Nothing not to like at this special spot whether it's food or just a drink you're after. We are so lucky to have this jewel on our doorstep 😊 Thank you Beach Shack, keep up the good work!

Witness to a very rude customer! In reply to the customer who posted a very negative post on TripAdvisor 25 November. We visit the sea shack at Sandown most weeks and have found the crew very friendly and. the food tasty. As for portion size my wife and I share the winter warmer. (soup, toastie and a portion of chips) more than enough for the two older people. We were present during his visit and witnessed a man who was rude to everyone including his wife. Long live the sea shack

Excellent beach side bar / restaurant. Right on the seafront, indoor and outdoor seating available. Good range of options on the menu, not just the standard bar food. Clearly a great effort to create a modern imaginative menu, speciality is fish but plenty of other options. Dog friendly, Betty loves the doggie ice cream! Plus wine, beer and cocktails.

Where to start with this lunchtime disaster….ordered two “bowls”of soup with toastie and chips …well tried too…young lad struggled to understand order (all it was was one without chips? - order fears were realised when wrong flavour soup came out meaning one of us had to eat on their own while the other waited …..but that wasn’t the worst of it by far ….the “bowl” of soup was in fact no bigger than a thimble (and lukewarm) - it genuinely was so small that a standard size tablespoon barely fit in it and after 3-4 mouthfuls was gone…it was I/2 a cheese toastie at best and a small pot of fries all for the bargain price of £13 each!!!! I calmly spoke to the very young waitress and explained my disappointment- she then said she would speak to the owner - she never returned!? So I went inside to see if they were going to speak to me and she said I spoke with him but clearly he decided that customer satisfaction wasn’t important and didn’t feel the need to come and see me ??? The manager/owner said I was rude to his staff??? There is a difference between rudeness and a genuine complaint of service/food - he was very defensive and when I tried to put my point across about the size of portions versus price he said”you pay to sit here with this view!!” Sorry I thought I’d gone there to eat not hire a deck chair ….given how quite the place was compared to other venues nearly should have been a warning ….we came away hungry ,upset and nearly £30 l worse off ….so in summary….OVERPRICED * TINY PORTIONS * INCOMPETENT STAFF & RUDE DEFENSIVE OWNER …nice view though and that was what I was paying for apparently!!!!

Half term rainy day retreat. Amazing food and cosy service. Our girls loved guessing the flags around the edge of the restaurant, as did we. Owners were so kind and caring. Will be going back next summer. Absolutely recommend to all. X

Delicious strawberry mojito 🍹on Sunday. Today we came back to try the Fish & chips. Comes in small or regular £9/£13, we had a small portion each which was perfect for lunch. Fish so soft & batter really light, no greasy after taste 👍best fish & chips I had in a long time. Meal 10/10 Service 10/10 Right on sea front 10/10 Definitely coming back for brunch before we head to ferry on Saturday

Lovely little cafe right on the beach, only stopped for a coffee break but the breakfasts looked lovely and there was plenty of choice.

We stop here often for drinks by the beach, always very friendly, quick efficient staff, beautiful views always clean and tidy, a favourite place for couples, friends, even family-friendly being by the beach

Lovely bar and cafe right on the beach. Friendly, helpful staff that serve you. We sat upstairs and were rewarded with a view of the bay. This place does amazing cocktails and the food is excellent especially the grazing meals where there is plenty to share and they are excellent value.

Top spot on the beach at Sandown. Licensed, with a great range of food, served with a smile and right on the beach. There are some sheltered seats and even a few inside in case it's windy - plus a top deck bar to take it all in.

We ordered the seafood platter as we all love sea food. We were very dissapointed when it arrived as it was a plate of chips with a large quantity of white bait over the chips, topped of with two small bits of squid, one calamari ring, one prawn in batter and a hand full of salad, not what was expected, would not go there again.

Had a lovely lunch here, the service was very pleasant and the food was good value and nicely presented.

The Beach Shack is our special place for a number of reasons. The first is its location in lovely Sandown Bay the second is the atmosphere this as the name says is truly a beach hut that enables you to relax in a superb beach location. The third is the food which is a mixture of the traditional and exciting new dishes. Try the new salad bowls they are great .we will be back again tomorrow.

Great cafe/bar, popped in a few times for a iced coffee in the sun and a cheeky 1st drink of the evening. Shame it isn't open later. Choice of food and drink is great.

Great bar in a great spot on the beach! We had drinks from here the first time and were able to have them in the beach. The second time we visited we had fish and chips and it was delicious!

I'm very lucky to have The Beach Shack only 2 minutes away. Its on a great part of Sandown Bay and it serves great food for all tastes including very nice seafood and pizzas. As well as good food it serves hot and ice cold drinks including nice beers.

We came across the Beach Shack and were delighted by the hospitality, view and catering for a gf vegetarian. The owner couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating! It is very difficult to find establishments that offer ‘healthy’ options for dietary needs, so it made my day! We will be coming back again (we are from the mainland)!

Very nice shack, especially upstairs, but the portions are incredibly tiny. You pay for a main dish and get an appetizer.

Stopped here for brunch while on a bike ride. Food was brilliant service was amazing and a great view of the sea highly recommend

This is my favourite brunch stop on the walks under the cliffs. Super fresh lovely local ingredients & great coffee.

We had some very nice coffee here and it was brought to us whilst we sat and watched the views. The staff are friendly the seating is good as you can while away the time watching the boats out at sea.

What a fabulous find! We were expecting 'everything with chips' but it wasn't. A great menu, very reasonably priced with excellent friendly service and a wonderful view, of course. If only I didn't live 300 miles away - definitely one of the holiday highlights.

An Island visit for a few days, hunting out a good fish restaurant - and found this place on our last day. Absolutely brilliant in every way. The seafood platters we had were great and really well presented. Food was all cooked perfectly and the king prawns here are truly amazing - so we had to order some more seperate to the platters and it wasn’t an issue….rustled up in no time. Nothing was a problem despite being busy and the owners were both really nice people who were great. Sitting on the beach side in the blazing sun was fantastic - and rounded off our trip/summer quite nicely. Locals use this place which is always an obvious good sign. I’m/we’re not surprised as they really know what they’re doing here, takng locally sourced seafood and making it great. Very calm and attentive and I would go back in a heartbeat and recommend this place to anyone. A true gem IMO. When we go back to the Island - we’ll be going back here for certain. I said I would be leaving a review, and wanted to follow up on my promise as these guys are great. I wasn’t asked to, but for me it is well worth a few minutes to hopefully allow others to enjoy what we did. Thanks guys, and all the best for the future.

Very disappointed to what it used to be. Just wanted prawn/crab sandwiches for lunch but now they only sell main meals. Couldn't sit inside due to smell of cooking fish.

I tend to be difficult to please when it comes to fish and chips but The Beach Shack’s are extra special. The batter tastes great and so does the fish and the chips compliment this special treat. My wife had the mackerel it was so fresh and tasted great another holiday treat. All served by helpful and friendly staff that make you feel welcome.

The Beach Shack remains my favourite seaside cafe/bar. I usually choose the seafood platter, my wife has the Fishermans platter and my vegetarian daughter has a Beach platter. All excellent. At peak times you may need to wait half and hour or so as it’s all cooked fresh to order. Coffee is excellent too, plus its licensed! Typically the weather determines opening times. Only on really wet days will it not open at all.

Went looking for crab and lobster. However none on the menu. That may have been due to the time we turned up (1530). meals were still very good. Had the sea food platter.

Lovely place to enjoy all types of food and beverages anytime of the day. Has a great location which isn’t in the busy side and great views. The food was a really good balance and taste fresh like they just plucked it out from their local supply (the English Channel). Convenient, friendly and would recommend. Been then several times during our visit.

I always respect other people’s reviews / opinions, and every place must have an off day unless it’s michelin starred.. But every so often I have to question whether or not we’ve experienced the same place, the delta in experience is that great. I read...

The Beach Shack is fab!!! I can’t wait to go there whenever I get to the island.. It’s a family run business and everyone working there is so friendly and welcoming. A beautiful location right on the beach with gorgeous views from both the esplanade and the new Sky Bar too. Both food and drinks alike, always presented wonderfully. As for the grilled sardines… best you can get this side of Portugal!!!!!! ( in my humble opinion! ) See you again soon hopefully

Very disappointed , rude staff, terrible food, smelt of Urine, food cold and tasted stale, when I went to complain I was told to leave if I do not like it

Found this place to sit and grab a quick coffee and a bite , food service finished far to early food was served cold and stale and tasted off, and we were told tough in not so many words from a very rude owner, I would not recommend this place, seating outside smells of urine, not very clean, staff unfriendly ,

Stopped by for a latte. Owner we felt was so rude and uninviting. Sat outside, and was a distinct smell of urine. Kids came to sit down with a small hot donut purchased on the pier, and was told to leave, as we consumed whilst sat drinking our latte s purchased from him. No idea about hospitality. No manners. AVOID!! Awful place

We try and come for a drink when we are down and finally managed to eat this weekend. Our fault - this time we got here for food. Delicious, fresh, great drinks, family run and they work damn hard. Beautiful spot too.

What a find! Wonderful selection of fresh seafood, and proper local beer. Excellent!
