The best restaurants in Canterbury South East

Did not eat so can't rate food everything else is wonderful Fantastic venue lovely staff Really comfortable

We visited on a Sunday. Didn’t seem to be anyone in charge. The staff were disorganised and customers were crowded round the till area getting in the way of coffees to be taken to tables and the cake display. We waited a long time for a coffee. We went for a walk and came back for a piece of cake. As we approached the front we were told quite rudely that no more orders were being accepted. I found out afterwards that there is a 45 min window where nothing is served. What they could have said was - we’re taking a quick break from service and if you take a seat we can be with you in 15 mins. But they didn’t and we left without buying a cake. There’s a bakery next door. Could be really great if the service was sorted.

Food was awful, spend £65 and got to way was un eatable, chicken was hard .. Chuck it in the bin , will never order again

Nice ambience and friendly staff. Bagels..... But little else on offer. That said my crushed avocado 🥑 and smoked salmon was spot on. It just needs a menu that offers more variety..... Quiches, Homemade Soups would be great additions. Located in The Old Town Hall. Fully Licensed and Coffee/Cake for afters.

Great meal again! Arrived a little late but was given a discount on the bill and a few freebees which were lovely. Food was lovely and arrived hot. Friday night madness but thank you so much. Excellent food!!!

Bright sunshine on patio...no umbrellas. My friend has had skin cancer...please provide shade. We shouldn't have to be forced to stay inside.

This is a well established butchers in Tankerton. The meat is good quality and better than any local supermarket. The steak us really good. The charcuterie is also worth trying. They have been in business a long time.

The margarita was fab 👌🏻 Food was average.. Atmosphere is nice though. Staff are friendly but green

I went with my grandson before a show at The Marlowe on Easter Monday. It was quiet in the restaurant. The staff were ok, not particularly welcoming but fine. The first and second courses were good, I had the vegan meatballs and the delicious Rainbow lasagne. My grandson had a kids meal of pepperoni pizza. Then we were ignored. For 40 minutes…. I stacked the dirty plates on our table, no one came to pick them up or ask if we needed anything. We asked 4 times for his chocolate ice cream over a 25 minute period but had to give up and leave ( and rush ) , so as not to miss our show. I told the server about this when I paid but she wasn’t all that interested. All a bit irritating. It’s the second time in a row I’ve encountered bad service at this Zizzis , so it’s back to Wildwood up the road next time.

Meat was tough. Portion very small, one potato. Service slow. Waitress looked dressed in yesterday's clothes and it was not cheap. Definitely NOT worth the money or travel

I've tried alot.of chip ships in Hern Bay, and this one is the best in my opinion. Prices in Herne Bay for fish and chips are generally high but this place the prices were good. I was welcomed by the owner and his assistant as I walked in and they were very friendly people, good efficient and quality service and the chips were just right. Good butter crisp with the soft fluffiness in the middle. Thank you again. I will be returning very soon and many more weekends.

Cheap and rather tasty food. 2 large glasses of Pino =£6.20 In London,you wouldn't even get 1 for that!!! Tasty chicken wings and lovley burger 5*

Absolutely amazing food and service. Cannot fault the team or the food in any way. We had Beef Brisket - it was tender, succulent and full of flavour; the veg were done to perfection. The service team were perfectly attentive, friendly and helpful, even including a fresh trainee and advising him while we were served we were made to feel special and important among all the other guests. Fantastic experience - have recommended to our friends and would definitely go again!

We compared prices and availability times for various deliveries online and John Lee, although they don’t deliver that I’m aware of, came out best in terms of price and quick service with collection in 20 minutes on a Friday evening. The food was clearly freshly cooked, had lovely flavour individual to each dish and the man who took our food order was polite, double checked each item and was helpful. A highlight was the chicken satay skewers. 100% will only order Chinese from John Lee in future.
