Great service as always and new dish ‘Stufato’ was amazing, delicious and vegan friendly and sooooo filling. Wonderful coffee too

Awful experience! Couple next to us walked out after waiting two hours for a main course. We did the same after waiting ninety minutes for a main course that never came. Put on draft table with little light in corner. Even the chair wobbled. the stater was microwaved within an inch of its life. Seriously avoid and eat elsewhere.

I enjoyed the new garlic bombe offerings and the pulled pork pizza was very tasty! The pasta on the other hand was so, so, a little bland and overcooked. But it's not my first Zizzis visit, so not completely put off. Will deffo would come again!

My initial visit was not good, as I was turned away when I initially entered zizzi's as a walk in customer. I was told by Christina that they were short of staff on a Sunday, and I could not be seated due it being busy despite there being vacant tables. Christine went on to say that they had bookings thats why they were empty tables. She then told.me to come back.in 1 hour. I returned after 5 mins, as when I was walking away I saw people leaving and I was seated. Ivana who was behind the bar was very un helpful, and did not even smile or greet us. We sat next to the table which was supposed be reserved, but no one ever came. This was sad to see as three people in front us were also turned away. An old couple came in shortly after us, and were turned away by ivana, as she said the only had one chief. They were very sad but left politely. I would expectd zizzi's staff to treat its customers much better than this, as it made my experience very unpleasant. On a positive note, the food was nice and the waitress named Olivia was amazing. She smiled and was very attentive, despite being the only member of who seemed to working. Ivana spent most of her time standing by the heater at the bar in front of the screen. Just want to say a massive thank you Olivia, who turned what was a horrible experience. Into a pleasant one. She is a true cr credit to the business, and her colleagues should learn from her. My family and I had a meal here today. Service was good and prompt. We had the set three course meal. Starter came quickly, we had the calamari, a generous portion, but very chewy and over done. The main came out salmon on a creamy sauce with pasta. The salmon looked like it had been microwaved, it was so hard I couldn't cut it, the pasta wasn't much better. I sent it back, and they replaced it. The second bowl of pasta was still very dry and there was no creamy sauce. I wanted to use my blue light card discount for carers and I was told I couldn't. There was nothing on the voucher to say I couldn't use it. I wouldn't waste my time eating here again. You would expect a lot more from an Italian restaurant serving Italian food.

Very good food in an old building

I been at zizzi on Friday night our server was Marius. Very nice experience the food was excellent and the server very friendly. I will come back soon.

Carma Silva was excellent on service, and when food was served even one of the chefs ( Marian Milea ) handed some of the plates. Thank you for great staff and food

I can't give Zizzi any less than 5⭐. We opted for the Christmas set menu. There were plenty of choice alongside the Christmas specials.

The pizza was not cooked properly,it was really soggy, and the dough was extremely undercooked; I could taste the raw dough. I always order the same pizza at Zizzi, but this one was really disappointing. Additionally, my partner’s pizza was also undercooked; only the edges were crispy, while the rest was doughy. Overall, we were extremely unhappy!

My mum and I came here on Friday 20th December 2024 and weren't massively impressed. Although my pizza (I got the pinoli) was one of the best pizzas ive ever eaten and my tiramisu was pretty good, the rest of the meal wasn't very good. I started with the arancini which for £7.50 was a tiny portion that didnt taste that good. My mum got the bruschetta which tasted good but was very soft. My mother also got the beef ragu which was extremely bland and the pasta was overcooked. I tried some and I completely agreed. Furthermore, her strawberry sorbet tasted almost alcoholic, almost like gin. It was quite disgusting actually. My mother couldnt finish her main, nor her dessert. The pasta crisps tasted horrible and felt stale, but were complimentary so it's whatever. Finally, my latte was tiny!!! Like the size of half a regular mug. The service was great and very attentive, but overall the food was disappointing for my mother, but I was very happy with the pizza!

We went with Tastecard discount as we have done countless times before and we ordered a starter which was good and two mains which were awful. When it came to the bill we presented the discount and they told us it was not valid because we just had one starter, which is not true because it states on tastecard that it’s valid across all courses from the menu. Already made a complaint to Tastecard. The mains were so disgusting we barely touched them and the service was poor

We ordered just the right combination of dishes and all were very tasty. We visited at about 3 on a Saturday so it wasn't hugely busy but had a nice atmosphere and great outlook onto the street from our table.

Just had Zizzi via Deliveroo… ordered the carbonara with ‘crispy’ prosciutto and the meat lovers feast pizza. Then for dessert we ordered the white chocolate and raspberry tiramisu and honeycomb cheesecake. It was late (which was fine, busy time and all that) but the pizza was stone cold and rhe carbonara contained red cabbage… that was a first! The desserts were the wrong ones, what was received were 2 raspberry Collins cheesecakes. We weren’t notified about the change to our order which I find slightly worrying as the cheesecakes contain alcohol (gin) which could pose a problem for some customers! Considering we’ve eaten from Zizzi’s sister restaurant, we find there is much tastier and the food is actually hot and correct when ordered. I don’t think we’ll be eating from here again, especially as they have been quite rude, ignorant and borderline racist when we ate in house! I wish I had read the reviews beforehand.

I feel I can leave this sort of review as I work in the hospitality industry so I understand the busy periods, staff shortages etc etc but I believe if you work in hospitality especially F.O.H you got a have your ‘hospitality face’ on! I wish I had read the reviews beforehand so I’d have known I wasn’t alone in receiving the bad food and service 🥲

Scruffy restaurant, dirty toilets

So disappointed with our meal of calzone a pizza base full of air and very little filling felt completely ripped off for a piece of bread do not recommend I know times are tough but when your paying almost £20 for a folded over pizza you expect a decent filling will not.visit here again

Visited with friends and the service was incredibly slow. The manager goes missing when theres a problem. We go to Zizzi’s quite often around the UK but this one was by far the worst experience. Certainly not recommended.

Calamari: Fried squid, soft and quite delicious. King Prawn Linguine: Prawn spaghetti, a little lighter, the dough looks like Chinese noodles, and the taste is pretty good. Casareccia Pollo Picante: Pasta with spicy chicken breast and tomatoes. It has a strong taste, not spicy, and delicious! Highly recommended!

On Saturday 13 th , five us came to visit for birthday celebrations, staff were very prompt and welcoming, as we sat down we ordered drinks and starters, then half way through eating our starters we all started getting really wet as the rain started coming in through the ceiling etc , they were prompt to move us and another table, and apologised, we carried on with our meal which was delicious, when we asked for the bill the manager had taken £50 off as the water had disturbed our meal which was a real lovely gesture , will def go back . Highly recommend

Walked in as a group of 4, 2 people sitting having a meal. We stood at the bar for some time and nobody came out, no service. No atmosphere, no welcome. We got more interaction from the ice machine behind the bar. Turned around and walked out. Terrible!

Went before a theatre trip, used Zizzi before many times but this time was very poor. Food was tasteless. I had prawn linguine and had to hunt for a prawn! Wife had bolognese and had very little meat or sauce. A real shame, it has been good previously

My friend and I popped in for lunch on Saturday (15 June) prior to going to the Marlowe for a matinee performance. It’s a lovely restaurant, staff are very friendly and the food was lovely. Worth a visit.

Very old and dirty. Too expensive!!

Visited fairly late on a Tuesday evening. It's a beautiful, characterful old building and the waitress was lovely and attentive. I had the gourmet carbonara which insanely good, and my husband enjoyed a pizza. We also had a garlic bread starter which was yummy and plentiful. We would definitely return should we visit Canterbury again.

Family meal..ordered calamari for starters. We received lengths of batter..with nothing or extremely little inside.

Nice place but felt a little cramped in the rear room and wasn't quite because it was popular in there non the less myself and my wife both had starters and a main. The drinks were a rip off so only had the one and went elsewhere for dessert. Food was nice service was good.

Lovely historic building, good service and excellent food

Short staffed (really nice team) so it was slow service. Food disappointing. Nothing wrong, just lacking depth of flavour. Had been looking forward to King prawn linguine, but was not available so had to choose soemething else, which did not deliver, sadly. Wife's pasta dish was drowned in a very thin sauce. I'm a long term customer, so very sad at this disappointing experience.

I think the toilet can be cleaner everything else is amazing.

Have visited many times and always had lovely food and service, this time sat in back room had a lovely waiter and food was lovely, starter and mains, however he cleared empty mains plates and then seemed to have left restaurant no one came near to ask if we wanted a dessert or coffee and after 1/2 an hour we got up and left , would love to know why we were treated this way

Not the best food. Warm not piping hot. Asked for parmesan and waitress brought it in her hand and grated it. Yuk. Hope they were clean, but doubt it! Wouldn't recommend I'm afraid.

Haven't been in a long time and enjoyed it. Very well cooked food. My mother had a large pizza which she chose but I finished off and we had the chips with Cucumber which we really enjoyed. I had the meatball pasta which was okay but would not choose that again with two lemonades. Overall it was good.

Nice food pity the drinks so expensive

Beautiful building that feels rather neglected. All the old wood panelling is dusty and dirty looking, could do with a good polish. Toilets need a referb. Doesn't have much atmosphere. Food standard zizzi fare... Adequate, but pretty expensive for what you get.

Italian type restaurant with reasonable cuisine. The only problem is that he also adds a 10% tip to the final bill, without asking customers for prior authorization. We're just going there once...

Came here for a pre show meal before heading off to the Theatre. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and were very quick at bringing out our drinks. We then ordered our food and again everything came pretty quickly. There were 4 of us and we each had a main and a drink and as we work for the NHS we were able to utilise a discount on our food. Including tip the bill came to around £22 each. Quite reasonable. I had the Casareccia Pesto Rosso and my friend had the King Prawn Linguine - these were the only 2 I took pictures of. All in all lovely.

Whilst in Canterbury, we popped in for dinner. I had the Calzone. Very nice. Restaurant was quiet being a Wednesday evening, which was nice. A slightly oldy weldy feeling inside.

A family dinner for 10, our enjoyment was slightly marred due to us being shoehorned into a corner by a pillar which made conversation difficult. I am sure if the staff had given a bit of thought our family gathering could have been better accommodated, especially as we spent almost £300. I would think twice about taking 10 people into the restaurant in the future That said, the service was good and the food was excellent.

Went to this restaurant Zizzi in Canterbury. Came across an Employee name Ivana who was racist towards Asians. First i thought it was just us, but the table next to us were Asians and was also whispering about her saying that she is so rude and mean to us. After a long day going around we just wanted a friendly face with smile but instead we got to see just another racist employee. She was probably having a bad day, but oh well just another day in life... Asians beware of her.

Nice atmosphere in a beautiful restaurant. Enough choices on the menu and not too expensive. Pizza was not round but oval. It was also good to eat.

Had a delightful supper here, on a Canterbury stay. Seemed one of those places, you instantly like & feel at ease in. I think that's down to lay-out of the place & staff? Staff were very friendly. I always have a mental check-off list I/we stick to, wherever we visit; * If you are welcomed when you arrive. * When the cutlery & table is clean. * When the toilets are clean. Then the chances are, you will have a nice evening. We did.

Very tasty pizzas. Service very attentive and friendly. Atmosphere in an old house is super cozy. We were upstairs in a small room with a fireplace, very cozy.

Food was okay, I just picked the wrong dish, as it was a small portion. Service wasn't great should have been quicker as it was a quiet Saturday lunch?? For a large chain standards should be better. If you're going to seat customers maybe take a drink order at the start or faster than 15 mins. Not sure if we will return. Sorry.

Appalling behaviour by staff... absolute disgrace..

Definitely will not be coming here again. Awful food, awful service, extortionate prices. Waste of my money and time. Asked for a table of three and they say us down. Our server had no customer service skills and forgot about us. Food came out, awful. Calzone was cold, pasta was bland and tasteless. One pasta dish (carbonara) had two different types of pasta in. Cleared our table without asking if we wanted dessert/if everything was okay. Came back 10 minutes later with a menu, came back a further 15 minutes asking for our order. (News flash, we didnt) Asked for the bill. Charged us four pounds for a bottle of coke. In my pasta, i asked for extra spinach and mushrooms. I counted two spinach leaves, and about four mushroom chunks. Charged me four pounds for those vegetables. For three people, it came to £75. Absolute atrocious place its a wonder they have any customers. Would rather go hungry then dine here again.

L'accueil est froid. La prise de commande a été trop rapide pous nous. Les plats servis en même temps que l'apéritif. La nourriture n'était pas terrible, rien d'extraordinaire, insipide. Après notre plat, nous avons été débarrassé 25min après avoir fini nos assiettes, aucun dessert ne nous a été proposé (alors qu'on en voulait un), nous sommes donc partis. Ignorance totale du personnel a notre égard.

I rarely leave a bad review but I felt this was necessary. I go out for lunch on Christmas Eve after the pantomime every year with my partner, we were both in high spirits when we arrived at the restaurant. We were sat down on a clear table (no menu/ cutlery) and had to chase the server for a menu, this was not a problem, they were quite busy. We both opted for the festive set menu and chose a cocktail. After a while, the server came back with our drinks- he got to the table and dropped the entire tray in my lap. I was annoyed, but accidents happen. He didn’t really apologise and didn’t rush to want to grab any napkins/ wipes to dry my now very sticky clothes. The family next to us offered baby wipes instead. He came back a long while later with a tissue to *half* mop up the floor, this was still a slipping hazard and he did a very half assed job in mopping up. I got a full new glass of Prosecco, although my partner wasn’t given a new cocktail. Given that they were £10, I would have thought that if half of the drink was on the floor, we would have been given a replacement. The tropical cocktail was very unpleasant and you would be better off going to Citi Terrace to spend that kind of money on a drink. Starters arrived about 30 minutes later, these were very nice and probably the best course of the lunch. We did however have to scout the restaurant for some (dirty) cutlery before we could start. The pizza however took almost an hour to arrive, this was simply OK. We ordered our dessert in advance as the pizza arrived as our train was leaving Canterbury West in 35 minutes and we had already been sat for over 90 minutes. As we were having the second slice of pizza, our desserts were slammed on the table aggressively. After this, the meal was ruined and we were both quite irritated. Desserts were nice, but cold/ melted by the time we ate our pizza. Safe to say, no tip was left. Overall: service was abysmal, food was average and we will definitely not be returning.

The staff are pretty ignorant and were rude at times, I could say other patrons were quite happy with their service. Maybe Racist, as we were 5 Indians on the table. I had to get up twice from my seat to grab their attention, although food was good, as Zizzi quality is maintained. the overall vibe of the place and staff behaviour put us off. The management really need to retrain their staff with customer service and weed out the racist ones. You can't have racist staff at one of your most popular tourist sites. TLDR : If you are tourists ,stay away from here. The staff is racist.

We came here last night for our Christmas Works Do, they had plenty of staff on hand and checking on us to make sure we had enough drinks etc. The starters and mains were served relatively quickly and all staff were extremely accommodating. Food was also brilliant!
