Every time we go we love this place. Food is delicious and really good value. Portions are really large. Really love the fresh bread and salad that comes with meals. Staff are really friendly and helpful, especially if you have any dietary needs. Atmosphere is always good, it's a good place to have a family celebration. I keep trying different starters as there are so many delicious ones to choose from...

Impeccable service, and the food was to die for. "The best kebab I've ever had in my life" - my OH - says it all really! They may sound like the kebab dishes we all know and love, but this will change your mind forever and you will crave this food over and over again. We have been back since our first trip in July and it was to the same standard. Lovely little outdoors terrace behind the restaurant where we sat both times. Highly recommended!

I recently tried Ala Turka restaurant and had the Chicken Shish - it was so flavorful and perfectly cooked! and refreshing Pina Colada, which was just the right balance of flavours. And let's not forget the Baklava for dessert - it was a sweet, nutty delight! Overall, great food, a lovely ambience, and excellent service. Recommend giving it a try!

WOW! Last night I went to Alaturka Whitstable after hearing many great things, and it absolutely did not disappoint!!! The flavours of the grilled chicken shish took me straight back to my trip to Istanbul a few months ago, it was authentic and delicious. And the Mojito!! I’ve found it hard to get a good quality cocktail outside of London, however this completely exceeded my expectations! Amazing. Also, an honourable mention to all of the staff, who were efficient, polite and friendly. Overall, the evening was full of great food, drinks and atmosphere, I could not recommend Alaturka Whitstable enough! I will most definitely be back very soon. Thank you!

Just like all the other A La Turka restaurants, the Whitstable one does not disappoint. The service was great, kind and attentive staff and went above and beyond to suit our needs.

The staff need training. No one member of staff knows who been to which table, so you get asked the same questions from different members. Then your drinks don't come . And £7 for olives don't even they are not worth £2.50. And our olives came after we had our main . Seriously, olives come immediately to the table.. it wasn't even busy it was Thursday, 6.30pm. Our table got cleaned and got ready for the next customers while we sat there ! I love a Faulty Towers restaurant, so much fun, though 😂🤣🙃🤪. Visited Saturday 29th June as walk in, was shown to a table and seated, was given tatty menu, lots of choice so we opted for what we knew, cold starter for two and Liver for the girlfriend and myself a mixed shish kebab, opted for chips with mine, BLEEDING AWFUL, presentation wasn't good, chips and shish was cold, left more than half the liver as didn't taste very good, nice bottle of wine though, won't go back I'll stick to our local Kebab restaurant in Faversham, at around a third of the over inflated price of A La Turka Whistable, you get attentive staff great food cooked to perfection, mixed cold starter, hot starter which includes fried liver, a main dish (loads of meat) and a cold fruit and ice cream desert. A La Turka you need to up your game.

The food and beer were top quality, as was the service from Gracie. All in all it was a great meal and will definitely be back soon. 100% would recommend

Delicious food and great service. We were well looked after. It's really not a budget restaurant but if you're will to spend a bit more it's worth it.

Had a great relaxing time sitting in the sun eating a great meal. Have returned may 2024 not so good its sad how things change when settled, poor service ,chipped plates, small portions but more expensive, chewy lamb.

Top food to service I was there yesterday Wonderful food, wonderful service

We tried A La Turka for a special occasion and while the food was delicious and cocktails even better, there is room for improvement. The venue and atmosphere are amazing, we loved the ambience and everyone was having a great time. Cocktails were delicious and looked amazing. The food was piping hot and served stylishly with very good portions. The bread and salad for the table was welcome too. Service mid-week at about 50% capacity was very very very slow. Plenty of staff but just lots of waiting around to order or for food and drinks. I’ve seen it busier and I know others who said the service was great, so we will try again. Sadly, the bigger issue was the menu ingredients did not always reflect what was in the food. If you have an allergy, make sure you confirm this to staff. While I do not have an allergy, I was shocked and frustrated to see my food contained something I severely dislike that wasn’t listed on the menu. The feedback was noted but not really apologised for. Despite some areas of improvement needed, we will 100% go here again, maybe for drinks and lunch one day on a weekend.

Even though this restaurant doesn't have a big terrace and a sea view like the one in Herne bay, this is easily the best one with breakfasts 💁🏼‍♀️ You d think, the same chain and 10 min drive, should be no difference, but here they just made it perfectly 😍 Loved the little yard/garden too, definitely will be back!

Bit pricey for what it is. Two adult meals, with one alcoholic drink each, and one child meal came in at £80 (£90 with the tip). Other local restaurants at this price would include a starter. Food was really tasty, bit cold quite quickly. Waiting staff were fine. Wouldn't go again.

Great takeaway for the family. Lovely grilled meat with rice, bulgar wheat, salad and vegetables. Prompt service. Good value.

Edited: Been back twice since initial review and ordered in line again. It was back to being brilliant!! Really disappointing. I love their food and I ordered a collection. Realised I put the time wrong and phoned up the restaurant to find out how long it would take. Left my puppy at home and drove down to collect it at exactly the time I’ve been told it would be ready only to find they hadn’t started cooking it…. Went home disappointed as had to get back to puppy.

Really nice atmosphere and food is delicious, only concerning thing is my mum found a SHARD OF PLASTIC in her ice cream! But aside from that it is a very nice place.

Wow! What a fabulous meal! I went on Tuesday evening with two friends and we had the most delicious dinner . My friend has a house in Turkey so she has been going for many years so I was a bit nervous but oh boy we were absolutely thrilled with our dinner . It’s always good to get lots of small dishes and share a main because you will miss out on all the yummy things . The restaurant itself is very comfortable and clean and nicely decorated and the staff we’re very nice too! We will be back !

Food was overpriced, bland, clearly reheated and greasy. Gave me a stomach ache. The restaurant was empty at the time, but we were sat on a table in a narrow walkway.

We ordered a take away with friends, we had chicken shish kebabs with rice and charged extra for bread and salad. Each portion was £21 plus extra for bread and salad. The portion sizes were small and we had excellent food in lockdown. We were really disappointed with the food this evening as it is not good value for money.

Went here on a Thursday evening and ordered the Mezze platter for two with a virgin Pina Colada and dessert to finish (Chocolate fudge cake). I was really impressed with the variety of non alcoholic drinks and the quality of them were great. Everything from the meat, halloumi, rice and salad was perfect. The bread came warm and soft which went well with the tzatziki. The staff were lovely, especially the hijabi woman who served us. The cake we ordered was delightful and so fluffy. They gave us Turkish delight with our bill which is a really nice touch, even though it’s not my favourite. Will definitely be visiting again, i loved the atmosphere and it wasn’t too busy. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the food came quite quickly. 10/10 .

We visited here on Friday evening, the staff were lovely and very attentive but I would say the food is a bit over rated and very expensive for what you get. As an example I had a chicken shish and paid nearly £25 for chicken / salad / bulger wheat. The bulger wheat was disappointing and didn’t taste of anything and we had a cheese and pastry starter which tasted of hot oil. Lovely ambience in the restaurant though! The staff were all so nice.

Food was delicious as always. We were a bit cold as we sat right by the door . We were served by Ronia... She is a breath of fresh air. Very accommodating yet professional. She is an asset to your Whitstable branch .

The best Turkish restaurant we have been to. Not only was it all served quick and hot. Salad was lovely aubergine dip was lovely, all Food was brilliant and would recommended to anyone. Staff knew exactly what they was talking about. Extra bread etc was offered to us. Would defiantly go again

Food is utterly bland for the price being asked. I’ve been to a few proper Turkish restaurants but all the food here lacks authenticity and any kind of uniqueness. Service is also lacking as the staff seem to be clueless about what’s on the menu when you ask. Save yourself the bother, go to one of the many other proper restaurants around Whitstable instead.

Overpriced, over noisy, over pressurised

I was so disappointed coming here when it first opened just to see it was nothing like the Canterbury ones… nothing Turkish about this restaurant’s appearance, no decorations, nothing. Just a plain normal restaurant with good food… My mom didn’t like sitting down by the door as it was pretty windy outside, rainy weather at the time, and when I asked if we could move we were told the table was too big (7 people, we were 7 adults, no kids) 😐

Great venue, staff friendly and attentive, place was clean and well maintained, food well cooked l, great variety awesome! 25% discount on weekdays too, brilliant value. Couldn't ask for more.

We came in last night and the waitress who serviced us was so polite and so helpful. This was our first time coming to ala turka and the service was 10/10 and the food was delicious! Defo be back soon! Can't wait to come back , when we are next down to whitstable :)

Nice restaurant & ambiance, staff very relaxed but friendly. Waited 20 minutes for our cocktail’s, but was good when arrived! Main dish was delicious, but unfortunately one of our sides was lacking some seasoning… wasn’t warned that the chillis on the platter were super spicy! Bulgar rice was very dry, as if sat under hot plate too long.. service charge added (10%) on the bill & was only told when bill was presented to us. Other than the above, was nice place to dine.

We had a reservation for 4 on a Sunday evening and found the mocktails and garden seating area to be pleasant but that is the end of the positive things I have to say about this restaurant. We had 5 servers overall by the end of the meal and, aside from one who seemed to be manager level, none of them had any confidence in guiding us through the menu with regards to a gluten allergy. Every time we inquired about a dish the server had to go and consult someone else. They also had trouble taking the order and seemed to have had no training on the menu or how to use the tablets they were taking the order on. We ordered a selection of meze which came out in fairly short order and were pleasant enough. However they all tended towards the bland and none had a distinct flavour palate. They all seemed to be dashed with the same spice mix. Then we began our wait. We sat for an hour and a half watching tables that arrived after us have their mains served. We occasionally caught the eye of a manager who would shout questions about our table to the floor but nothing was forthcoming. We had to flag down a server to get an update. We were told that the food is coming, nothing more. When it arrived we were initially baffled at the presence of rice. When we made our order, after we had navigated the labyrinth of attaining a gluten free meal, we were told that there was no rice and we would have to have bulgur. Yet here was rice and it turns out they had run out of bulgur. Then our disappointment was confounded by the cold, tough, clearly reheated meats we were served. It was obvious that our dishes had been forgotten about and delayed but instead of refiring new plates they served the ruined food. After the meal no one asked how it had been, clearly aware of and embarrassed by the situation. We told the servers to take off the service charge and told them exactly why we were doing so. We got a sorry in response but would have rather explained to a manager, all of whom had disappeared from the floor when we finished. The management here need to take better care of their customers and their serving staff. They are all clearly under prepared. The lack of knowledge of the menu and of allergens is shocking and could potentially cause serious harm if it is not addressed. They also need to be more present on the floor, more reactive and take action while their servers are learning instead of barely training them and watching them flounder. A pretty restaurant that cannot gloss over its lack of flavour or professionalism. Avoid if you have any allergies or dietary requirements.

Great food. The staff (training) got several of our orders wrong but it was put right by the management.

4 stars here as feel there is room for improvement. Firstly, food was delicious. Generous portions and the meat was cooked and marinated perfectly. Starters were nice and the staff were all very friendly. Toilets well kept and overall lovely vibe, we had fun. Only criticisms are that although they have staff aplenty, I feel they need a lot more training. There’s a few managers that are bang on it but some of the jnr staff are very green and seem unaware of how to flow through service. I spotted the lady make mistakes on my order on the pad which I corrected! The other dig would be the prices, just seemed a few £ more than they needed to be. No meat extras or side options of meat, say if you wanted a portion of wings without a main you need to spend £18 (from memory so not sure but you get the gist). The orders seemed quite ridged. That said would come again for another go and to try other dishes 🙂

Brilliant, only word to describe it. 5/8/23. Admittedly it was busy, but the service was rather slow. No lack of staff, they just seemed to be falling over each other and wandering around, as though they didn't know what to do next. Food was very good.

Food absolutely amazing took boyfriend here for birthday meal he loved it. Decor is absolutely amazing and our waitress was lovely and attentive I'm definitely booking this again I will be back !!.

Went out in Whitstable for my birthday lunch together with my partner. Having had many great experiences at A La Turka in Herne Bay and Ramsgate we expected much of the same and were horribly disappointed. The menu prices are hiked in accordance with the restaurants attempt at a more upmarket vibe. Sadly the beers were not cold and they were flat, the Chapel Down sparkling was an opened bottle and like the beers was flatter than a bear’s backside, the service absolutely dismal and the food lacklustre at best. It is sad to have wasted our money and the occasion at this venue. Will certainly not return to this venue.

Bowled over by the friendly greeting, super staff and tasty food. One small complaint … portions are big. (Did the doggy bag) really pleased we visited. Prices slightly on the expensive side.. but WOW. We will return. Thanks

We have just had a meal here and are all truly disgusted in how we have been treated. We came for a nice meal with 4 adults and a 2 year old, we was all enjoying the meal trying to encourage our 2 year old to eat her food when the waitress came over to us and asked us to keep the noise down as other customers in the restaurant has complained about us. I can tell you now that we may have been a little loud but we was not at all rude or disrespectful at all and infact another table near by with a young child was just as loud as us. This really has ruined our holiday and will not be returning to this rude restaurant.

Amazing evening. Fitted in a table of 6 last minute. Staff were very accommodating and attentive. We eat at a lot of Meze style Turkish restaurants and have to say this was up there. The lamb shish in particular was delicious with layers of flavour and spice.

I ordered "whole sea bass, grilled" and was presented with two dry and tasteless fillets. My companion's "Turkish moussaka" was also lacking flavour. I complained, but was offered only a sauce to make my fish less dry.

We booked earlier on in the day, and there were only two tables, one at 5.30 and one at 8.30 - we went for the later one but would have preferred a 7pm/7:30 table if we had the choice. The food was gorgeous all 4 of us had a lovely meal, all choosing something different. I would highly recommend the mixed shish kebab - tender, blushing lamb was extremely tasty.

Great service and fantastic staff. Just dropped in to grab a take away as had weekend away and A La Turka were so helpful. Had a cheeky glass of wine while waiting and when I got home the food was divine, thank you so much

A quiet lunch time. Service was a little slow but very friendly. Probably fewer staff because it was quiet! We had Mezze. It was very tasty and good value. We had 4 dishes between 3 of us, and were given a complementary flatbread and salad. Would definitely go back.

Service was something out of Sesame Street, Anyone saying this place is authentic has never had a proper Turkish before. food was overpriced and staff were rude and unwelcoming and had the audacity to add on huge service charge. We went for lunch, we had seen on the website they did a set lunch menu for 2 courses for £20 or 3 for £25.00. We had to ask to see the set lunch menu as that was not offered when shown to our table, just the main menu where the main courses generally average around £18 - £20 for house specials and kebabs dishes. The starters on the main menu were from around £7 - £9.50. So if you are hungry and want to eat two courses at lunch time ask them for the set lunch menu, which had a good choice of dip type starters and 5 main courses to choose from. We had lovely humous and saskusa dips with some great bread and a very fresh and beautiful bowl of salad to start, then had the chicken shish and a lamb kofte kebab with rice and bulgar. The portions were very generous and in particular the chicken shish was really great. We couldn't finish it all!! It's not cheap even eating the fixed price lunch menu at £20.00 a head, so when you have added a couple of drinks on plus the 12.5% service charge they add on it's not a cheap lunch. But having said that we thought the food very good and the service was lovely.

I've been waiting impatiently for this place to open. I was twice for a family dinner and once for a meeting with a frend. Unfortunately, I will not come back here again, I will still attend to A La Turka in Herne Bay, there the service is better, the food and alcoholic drinks are much better. In Whitstable we were ignored, our orders were not fully fulfilled, one time I got cold coffee, the second time I got a dirty spoon with dessert, the spoon was used by someone else. We didn't notice that the tip had already been added to the receipt , we gave a double tip and the waitress didn't say any word. The place is pretty but withouth good atmosphere.

We’re big fans of A La Turka and regular visitors to the other restaurants in Canterbury, Herne Bay and Ramsgate. So, with this new restaurant being just down the road, the wife and I were looking forward to trying it. Your enjoyment will depend on what you like from a restaurant. If the food is #1 priority, we would recommend you go to any one of the other A La Turka’s in the area. The positives - the reason I’m giving 3 stars is that the staff were friendly and the decor was nice, but that’s about as much as I can say. The negatives - For the food, I’d say 2 stars. We were surprised that the table next to us, who ordered after we did, got their sharing platter within 5 mins. I was immediately wondering how it could have been served so quickly in a busy restaurant if it had been cooked fresh. Ours also came out in under 10 mins, quicker than I remember being served in any A La Turka, and the meat was only warm, so we assumed it must have been either reheated, or perhaps kept warm ready to serve. The grilled meats are always good at other A La Turka’s, but this was bland. Also, we normally can’t stop eating the complimentary Turkish bread, it’s usually so good with lovely flavours from being warmed on the grill - this time it just seemed like some bland generic bread from a supermarket that had been warmed in a microwave. For the first time we left most of the bread. The upstairs areas is also loud. It didn’t help that we were seated next to a table of 12 lads. We could barely talk as we couldn’t hear each other speak, just two feet apart. This was just bad luck of course, no one’s fault, and to the credit of the waiting staff, they clearly felt bad and asked if we wanted to move. Nice gesture, but there was only one other free table around 2m behind us, but also next to the same table of 12. No point in moving. I asked if there was anywhere else at all in the rest of the restaurant and was told there wasn’t. We decided we would just eat up and leave. We noticed the table next to us were out even faster than we were. Anyway, we ate up and left in record time to grab a drink at a nearby bar and salvage the evening. Needless to say, we removed the 12.5% service charge automatically added to the bill. Something I’ve never actually done before. As a big A La Turka fan, I’d say go to Herne Bay or Canterbury instead. Much better food and nicer atmosphere.

Lovely food but meal was spoilt by a waitress who hovered around waiting to take our plates. One of our party was still eating but she asked if we had finished , 2 of us replied 'yes' and she took our plates then cleaning the table, took the sauce dishes still one of us was still eating ! She then stood waiting for the remaining diner to finish raising her eyes and sighing when he said he hadnt finished yet. Pushy, rude, bad attitude. I personally would not have paid the £12.95 service charge. Having said that , the food was nice but some customer service training definately required for some staff. I did complain at the time and one girl appeared to take it seriously, however, they stood at the area in front of us clearly finding much mirth in the situation. 👎

Most of the sauces tasted the same meat was tender. The fire alarm went off again, the last time we were here it went off then. We had to get the attention of the serving staff rather than them attending to us. Very expensive

Very expensive for what you get. I ordered lamb something. You can find it on the menu. It's £23 as I write this 13 Feb 2023. Not much meat. Everything tasted good. Except the salad which is just lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes...the top of it had a layer of some seasoning with lots of salt. Too much salt. The lavash bread is delicious but it gets cold very very fast and then it's hard to chew and tear and doesn't taste anywhere near as good. Service is very slow and the male waiter wasn't very friendly

Great food, atmosphere and decor

In my opinion it is a little expensive for what it is. Problems with drinks were quickly rectified. A table for two is a little tight if you have a sharing platter.

Well, I don't really like leaving bad reviews . But on this occasion I really have to. My husband and I don't go out very often, but we decide to start going out for date nights. So I decided to book A La Turka in Whitstable on a Saturday night . We went in there ,sat down . It was very busy but nether the less. Our waiter/waitress was nice enough. They asked us if we wanted drinks and if we were ready to order our food , which we weren't. But all the other staff kept asking us if we were ready to order. Which really made us feel rushed and on a conveyor belt . Anyway, we did order our food for starters and mains. Our starters came out, and it was lovely, but we had almost finished, and my husband was still eating . The young lad came over and asked if we had finished, and we said no, but he still took our plates away. Then our mains came out, which was OK. The young lady came over and asked us if we wanted a dessert and if everything was ok and we explained to her our experience and how unhappy we were!!! She said to us that if we come back on Thursday evening that she would serve us, but spending up to £75 and staying in the restaurant for an hour ish . And obviously, we didn't have dessert and we left but we will never go back, which is such a shame as we like to support our local shops.

Well some people seem to really enjoy this place but we had an awful experience. I arrived there with my date to be told immediately that despite having booked we couldn’t sit in the in the main restaurant but we were shunted upstairs where we were assured it was “quieter”. I grudgingly went along with it. The manager himself then placed a three-year-old next to us in what was a largely empty floor of the restaurant. When we asked to move he got really shirty with my dinner Guest saying that we couldn’t move because “ people had booked”. Right. We went downstairs and try to find him and realise he was hiding upstairs. The two young waiters who did try to sort things out left us stood in the middle of the restaurant with everybody staring at us like we were aliens. Now this kind of thing’s okay if you’re charging £10 for a kebab but these are Soho prices. I suppose some people enjoy being told what to do and shunted about like some kind of inconvenience but I don’t. I won’t be going back. There are some good chain restaurants; this isn’t one of them. At these prices you might as well go to the Oyster Company and get proper service in a beautiful environment. And if you really must have a shish, go to Tankerton kebabs and save yourself a lot of money, stress and horrible lighting.
