Great fish and chips, gluten free haddock was gorgeous. Friendly staff and all round great service. Was visiting herne Bay for a few days and glad we found you. Thank you 😎

A few weeks ago me and my mate visited Herne Bay from London and found ourselves at a loss for what to eat. We came across Britannia Fish Bar by chance having walked the length of Herne Bay High Street to find a suitable eatery. When we walked into Britannia Fish Bar we were immediately greeted by what can only be described as the most friendly and enthusiastic chip shop owner in Christendom who commented on his particularly "liking happy people like us!" With a constantly cheerful and positive demeanor the owner, who's name is Michael, proceeded to take our order of large cod bites and a large portion of chips and whilst waiting surprisingly provided us with free samples of chips with his signature herb and garlic seasoning which turned out to be absolutely delicious. It has to be said that when we eagerly ate our freshly cooked order of food it was seventh heaven and the chips and cod bites were cooked to complete perfection. There is no doubt that Michael is a perfect professional who is proud of what he serves because he always does his best to please his customers and he is a credit to the chippy tradition and also the best chippy in the region by far. We shall be making it our business to go to this beautiful eatery every time we visit Herne Bay or Whitstable and we shall be trying out different items from the menu as every item looks delicious from this place. Highly, highly recommended if you want excellent quality food at very reasonable prices served by a real and proud professional who truly knows how to please his customers.

Amaizng Gluten Free (GF) fish and chips. Separate fryer aswell. Would recommend.

I had a friend pick up my meal, but was surprised how good it was, the chips were nice a crispy and scampi was delicious. I would heartily recommend it to others visiting or wanting a quality fish supper.

Best ever fish in the town and the vest service you can imagine. Michael served us like a family. Guy understands the cocept of gluten free. No cross contamination. Separate fryer for gluten free

This is my favourite fish and chips place. Fresh fish always and delicious shakey shakey seasoning on the chips. Can't go wrong. We always only order large haddock which is always fresh. It's a lovely family run business and all are very friendly. We were there this Sunday for our usual and then went for a well deserved walk on the waterfront. Highly recommend. Keep it up.

When I realised I was just too late to pick up supper from my local chippy, I used Just Eat to find a substitute. These guys were still serving. The food came quickly and a great deal of care had clearly been taken with the wrapping and packing to ensure the food remained hot and crisp, which it did. Might sound odd when talking about fried food, but this was on the lighter side, not at all heavy with grease, which is my preference these days. Perfect!

First time using Britannia fish bar while on another day out in Herne Bay.... Service was very friendly and food was cooked freshly while I waited, large cod and chips... Cod was delicious and cooked perfectly for me, nice crunch to the batter and beautiful fish, chips also really tasty and fresh. Curry spring rolls were amazing too as was their curry sauce!! All nicely packaged to take away and sit by the pier!! Thoroughly enjoyed by myself, my partner and my youngest daughter, new favourite!! Shall return on every trip.

Found the Large Haddock to be Tastless and the Chips were even Worse. Deff will not be ordering from here again! What a waste of money.

Wednesday 5 o'clock went to this chip shop big mistake Rubber sausage cold chips cost £4.80 went straight in the bin never again.

Me and my family always buy fish and chips from here, best fish and chips in Herne Bay. They’ve recently put friend chicken on the menu, tried the family platter of wings and the children absolutely loved it. :-)

This was vile, the savoloys look like something I'd get for a kids play kitchen, called the restaurant and they fobbed us off. We'll done to fish Inn two and sunset fish bar also in herne bay for doing proper savoloys and actually giving them taste not like water leaking in our mouths.

Great gluten free fish and chips So with new team the GF fish and chips got better. Eldest very pleased GF jumbo sausage is now available. Good sized pieces of fish. Great chips.

The sign behind the counter says “I don’t sell fast fish, I sell good fish” and that’s exactly what we got! Just had large & medium cod and chips cooked fresh and I have to say it was excellent! We’ve tried a lot of different fish and chips around Herne Bay & Whitstable and none have been as good as what we’ve just had from Britannia fish and chips. We will be back again :) A++++++++ and also a very friendly service.

The best option for great food in Herne Bay. Owner, has a passion for food that is evident in every dish and presentation, and fabulously fresh ingredients. Lovely food, reasonably priced and good portions of food. Well worth the money. Very Clean, and brilliant service. Thank you always for looking after us and just being the great place you are! Great fresh tasty fish and chips with friendly staff. Owner gave me some very nice curry sauce as a freebie as well as some lovely chips to eat whilst I was waiting. All cooked fresh. Light batter. Nothing greasy.Huge portion. Best chippy in town. Good price.

Took 45 minutes for the courier to deliver the food turned up all soggy and wet been waiting 50 minutes for a replacement been 2 hours since I ordered the food and still havnt received hot food when, I could easily walk down and collect the food in half hour honestly it's a joke

Although late it’s not really the drivers fault as the address can be hard to find so still given 5 stars

I was pleased when my food arrived early! Who wouldn't be? The fish and chips were absolutely the best I've had in a while! Fresh, hot, crispy batter and crispy chips to accompany. The piece of fish was huge! I ordered large but this was massive. Best curry sauce around too. The delivery driver was very friendly, even if my dog scared him a little! I will 1000% be ordering from here again. The prices are also very competitive with a large cod and chips with a drink only £12.99!

5* rating from me!! Such friendly & helpful staff. Has an excellent variety of food, loads more than your average fish and chips shop. Large portion sizes! Their large cod and chips is brilliant!! Definitely the largest cod I've had in Kent. As a regular customer, I can confirm that you can always taste the freshness of the fish, you wont find another shop with fresher tasting fish than here! I can also guarantee that the chips are always cooked to perfection. I love their consistency in cooking excellent food, I've never been let down. Always will be my no1 food place!

The food was okay, I think the small portion of chips could be slightly bigger. We ordered a jumbo sausage and got 2 smaller ones instead which was fine but they were undercooked; we called the restaurant and they were really helpful and sent us replacements straight away plus extra chips so can’t fault them for that really. Customer service 10/10 but value for money could be better.

Very nice but sent a the wrong spring roll, and I also asked the driver NOT to ring bell because of my dogs, but he did..Bit disappointed ☹️

Great fish and chips…. The best Cod I have ever tasted, fish is very fresh, light batter and great customer services and good prices and large portions. Highly recommend the Shakey Shakey seasoning and peri peri salt. Only one table for eating in but if you’re lucky it’s worth it. Takeout and delivery - lunch and dinner.

Poor quality food obviously left overs from the day as I ordered just before they closed. Driver must have been on his way home as it was delivered 15mins after latest eta.

Nice food, lovely staff very chatty, they even visited me at home to drop off my wallet that I left in the shop after there shift which I didn't realise I had left till they turned up at my door, would defo recommend.

Delivered quickly and very hot. All good but chips very heavily salted. When ordering there is no option for salt and vinegar as there is with other restaurants so I assumed the chips would be unsalted. My friend was unable to eat them due to this. The burgers also were covered in salt so I would suggest separate wrapping not putting them into the same container.

I know it was past 9pm when we decided to get some chips on the way home so for a start we didn’t have a great deal of choice for places to go but to be charged £9.70 for five fish bites & a very small portion of extremely dried up chips was beyond a joke. I understand it was near the end of the evening for them but they must have known the state of the chips when charging my husband £3.50 for them. Perhaps they could have been thrown in for free which might have made them slightly more palatable. The fish bites were fine as they were cooked fresh. Needless to say we won’t be returning.
