Absolutely terrible service, the staff do not care and do not listen, I ordered a dark fruit and got a normal strong bow when I asked if they could make it right I was forced too buy a hole new drink even though I clearly said dark fruit also everyone else was brung there drinks but I was just left only too find my drink and change on the side of the bar no one said they was ready, I also ordered food witch was nothing like advertised and dry the portion was also stingy

Very well run 'spoons - small breakfast was good value for money and well cooked. Visited for the beer festival and not disappointed. Top marks to the crew here. Gets busy around lunch time (expected). The ales are well kept and the beer festival is very welcome for us real ale (camra) types ! Well recommended for a visit. See you again (hopefully) next year ;-)

Pros: The food was very affordable and was good. The beer prices were insanely low, I literally couldn't believe it. I've attached a photo showing that you can get a pint of Abbot Ale for £1.99. That is much cheaper than I paid for the same pint of beer when I visited England in 2008. Wetherspoons gets a bad rap locally as being kind of the McDonald's of pubs. But this particular location had a lot of character, being converted from an old theater. I had an English breakfast here, and I had an Indian curry dinner here on another visit. All the food I had was not just acceptable for the price, but exceeded all my expectations. Con : this venue does not provide the same pub feel as any of the other pubs in town. At all the other pubs in Whitstable, I was able to easily strike up friendly conversation with the staff and with the local customers. I also understand that the other pubs in town are good places to seek work or to seek workers to get a job done. There seems to be no such sense of community at this particular venue. Everyone was drinking alone with the dead eyes of a shark, and refusing any attempt to engage in banter or conversation. It seems like a lot of people come here to be alone and to eat and drink at the cheapest price possible. I would describe the vibe as being similar to that of a school cafeteria. Overall, despite the good food and the incredible prices, I would recommend patronizing the true local pubs of this town.

This was our first visit to this restaurant and we were amazed at the size of the place. It was very busy and we felt uncomfortable as we were surrounded by so many people. It was noisy and felt like a school lunch room. The food wasn't very hot but we ate it as we were hungry. The service was good and the server, on clearing our table, said we should have told them of the problem with the food. It wasn't that easy with so many people walking around. We were pleased that we weren't in the centre of the room. The toilet facilities were adequate.

The service is always super quick here and the building is a beautiful former cinema with some of the original fixtures in and even some old cinema projection equipment in the lobby. The food is good, just as you would expect from this venue, and the prices are reasonable. The staff are very friendly and helpful and almost always with a smile, even when it’s chaotically busy. The atmosphere is mostly good, some younger customers spread out and drink a single drink over 2 hours when everyone is looking for a table but there’s usually a seat available.

The venue is quite special being a converted Art Deco cinema. It has been tastefully decorated with a wit connecting it to its former function. I had preconceptions about Wetherspoons. How can food be served quickly, be cheap and maintain quality. My companion and myself had the brunch with an alcoholic drink included. This for under £10. The food arrived swiftly. It looked clean, fresh, a good amount and tasted good. What is termed as a small plate pub classic is actually a regular size. The whole experience was good that we stayed the best part of the afternoon.

What a great idea; turn a cinema which is not in use into licensed premises and, not only that, it honours a 'local' actor. Set on the High Street, it is easily found. It's one of the smallest spoons pubs I have been in. It was a cold, wet day, so the place was packed. We just managed to get a table. Although, there were a couple of tables with glasses on but no one seated. Wasn't sure if they were free or not. Order some food, which arrived in a reasonable time, good job we Wasn't Hungry. The portion size was children sized. Didn't recall asking for a small plate?. 🤔. We ordered from the main menu two burgers with chips. When they arrived, one plate was a small child's plate with a burger and a few chips. The other one was a large adult plate, but with the same amount of chips as the child's plate. Had someone eaten my chips? Why was the plate different sizes? I took a deep breath, and the plate was almost empty. Well, we didn't stick around for anything else. We left and went for a dessert elsewhere. In fact, just down the road was a lovely ice cream parlour.

Visited today 25/08/2024 at midday- not a good experience at all- our food order was incorrect, even though we repeated it several times, the bar staff were not very knowledgeable- didn't know what an Appletiser was- basic knowledge. When we challenged about incorrect food order we were met with a negative response with no way of an apology! The pub was running on minimum staff and wasnt particularly busy. Being an ex-publican, I understand staff challenges but this was unacceptable. After always visiting the Peter Cushing on most visits to Whitstable, that was my last - will never set foot in the place again- it's more a playtime than a serious business! We went there as a group of 7 along with a kid. The group mostly consisted of vegetarians and we could find 3-4 vegetarian dishes. We ordered pancake, cheese sandwich, avacado toast and mozarella cheeze pesto sandwich. Our sandwiches base was split between bagel, sourdough and bread. We also ordered a frappe and few beers. The sourdough is in the shape of normal bread which didn't taste like sourdough, the avacados were quite tasteless with hardly any salt and pepper. The strawberry banana pancake was good. However, at the end it became too sweet and was difficult to finish. The cheese toastie was just okay. The frappe also didn't have any coffee and felt like milk. All in all the atmosphere and service is much better than the food they served. I would not recommend this place for food.
