Standard spoons, was hoping for more pictures of peter cushing, but as it goes a decent place in centre of town to get a reasonably priced drink. Bit noisy in there as its one very large room with a high ceiling and nothing much to absorb the sound, can sound a bit like an auction room with all the shouting when it gets late!!

Visited today 25/08/2024 at midday- not a good experience at all- our food order was incorrect, even though we repeated it several times, the bar staff were not very knowledgeable- didn't know what an Appletiser was- basic knowledge. When we challenged about incorrect food order we were met with a negative response with no way of an apology! The pub was running on minimum staff and wasnt particularly busy. Being an ex-publican, I understand staff challenges but this was unacceptable. After always visiting the Peter Cushing on most visits to Whitstable, that was my last - will never set foot in the place again- it's more a playtime than a serious business! Weatherspoons- buck your ideas up!

Loved it in here as it was quiet & you could have a conversation with the person you came in with!!! Building is a converted art deco cinema that has some old camera gear on display. Pub is small and square with some fantast features. It's all on the ground floor except for the toilets that were upstairs and immaculately kept. Staff were lovely. Food was great & served on a hot plate for a nice change. Under £10 each for a meal & an alcoholic drink. Whitstable town is lovely & I can see why Peter Cushing had a home here.

I'd like to give more stars for this place as normally Wetherspoons are good value but due to the fact they'd gone off line and no one could order anything, we didn't get to eat here. Paid £8 for two cars to park and told we couldn't even get a drink. OK these things happen but no one knew how long before they were up and running so daughter enquired whether we could get a soft drink on the house whilst we waited. Answer NO. Awful customer service although the young man we spoke to was polite the attitude from such a large chain was appalling!

Only had coffee. 20/01/23, once again only had coffee. Have to say though, the old cinema/ bingo hall is overdue a refur⁶b. 17/3/23 Still desperately in need of a refurb. Bottomless coffee at £1.45 a cup, must be good. 19/5/23 coffee still £1.45 bottomless cup, still in need of refurb. Dead flies in the beautiful art deco lampshades. Fancy plaster/coving haging off the walls, and dirty. 20/7/23 had lunch today, what I could see of it. It's quite dark in there, and it looks like the beautiful art deco light haven't been cleaned since the day they were installed. One in particular has a large collection of dead livestock in it. Desperately in need of a refurb. One of these days I'll be able to say something nice about the Peter Cushing. It was beautiful when first converted from the Cinema/Bingo Hall. 6/10/23 Just popped in for a coffee. Down to £1.25 temporarily. Still in need of refurbishment. 5/12/23. Been meaning to say, the Art Deco Lightshades have been cleaned, no more dead flies/bees etc. 3/2/24. Only popped in for coffee. £1.56 now gone up 6p, but still as many refills as you like. Coving around walls panels still needs sorting. 5/7/24. Bits of refurbishment been done, but coving around wall panels still needs attention. Joints parting, and needs a good clean. Nice hanging glass holders installed above bar, quite in keeping with the rest if the decor.

What an amazing great pub, lovely building, great beer garden, super friendly service, clean, quick and competent bar staff. The food was literally delicious, had a pint of Leffe and a fish and chips with garden peas. The fish was large, cooked to perfection, seriously one of the nicest bit of fish I’ve had in years, chips were ample and cooked to perfection. I don’t write reviews unless I’m seriously impressed but felt obligated to write this. Will return again soon and see if they can do this on the regular. Would recommend without reservation. Like I said, pint of Leffe and fish and chips sitting in nice surroundings, brought quickly on a plate for £9.97. Whitstable’s Wetherspoons. I vaguely recall there were objections when this place opened up but it really has brought life back into a lovely old building. The pub itself is based in an old cinema, the interior of which has been nicely restored and there are many nods to it’s heritage – the bar sits in front of the old screen and the balcony and projection area has been used for the toilets. The downside to putting a pub inside an old cinema is that it’s a big space to fill, with lots of height. That height, along with a lack of soft edges, can make this place a bit of a noisy barn at times, particularly when it’s filled with drinkers. A bit of background music might help to soften that, but that isn’t the Wetherspoons way…. In terms of drinks, the standards Wetherspoons selection is on offer – Corona etc. Full food menu also – haven’t eaten here in a few years, but you know the standard you’ll be getting, which is generally decent. Disappointingly only the one gaming machine on this visit – there used to be two at least – and that situated poorly, very close to a table area that was full of families – no chance to play Rainbow Gold: Slot of Gold on this occasion. One nice little gem here is that the pub has a garden – the former carpark out he back has been converted into an area with tables, bisected by a public footpath. The garden closes about 9 in the evening though, so local residents can have some quiet time. This is one of Kent’s better Wetherspoons I would say – far better than the terrifying one in Herne Bay.

The 5 stars is for being able to be inside a piece of genuine history. ✨️. Took me back to my youth. Proper old fashioned cinema. It's a Wetherspoons. This one has been decorated in a really beautiful early 1900's theme and is a sight to behold. Every time I've been in there it is vibrant with young and old, regulars and visitors and is a lovely place to visit. It still has the feel of the cinema it used to be. It had a time where it was a bingo hall also. If you wish to visit Whitstable then make this one of the places to visit. It has the familiar Wetherspoons products situated in a one of a kind establishment. I can't give it more stars for the food comparing it to some of the other pubs in the area but you know what you're getting.
