My wife and I went here as tried to get a drink in the very busy Neptune (pastic glasses, loud music, couldn't get served 'dines out' on its name). The Ship is a more traditional English pub, friendly staff, good hand pump beer (Adnams and Canterbury) beautiful hanging baskets, papers for cutomers, plenty of seating, nice little pub, don't bother with the over rated Neptune. When visit Whitstable again will come back here.

I haven't eaten here, though I know people do. For me a pub's not about food. I just love the atmosphere, the fact that it's all about conversation and humour, the affability and the great beers and wines. Nice upturned beer barrel tables outside if the weather is fine, where passing cars will give you an envious thumbs-up

Possibly the last proper pub in Whitstable. Good beer, great crowd, friendly staff, lively atmosphere. You can get a pint that's brown in colour rather than insipid, pale lagers and IPA.

Came to the pub with our dog and one member of staff was extremely rude. After having an issue with our dog sitting on a chair.(which I understand and rectified) We then moved our dog onto the lap of myself and the member of staff started shouting and being extremely rude about this. After politely asking why this was an issue. I was then made to feel extremely uncomfortable by her shouting and pointing at me to the point I ended up leaving the pub. I was un aware of house rules regarding dogs sitting on the lap of an owner and was only made aware of this when she (staff member) decided to bring a sign over and wave it in my face and if this was the case I would have settled her of the floor. (this could have also been made more clear when entering the pub). Before this disagreement which could been resolved sooner and if staff were more polite regarding our dog and for myself to feeling the need to leave. The experience was enjoyable. However I would not go back after being spoken to so rudely.

This is probably the best pub un Whitstable. Our party consisted of a vegetarian and a Gluten allergy. Everyone was catered for extremely well. The food was excellent, the Landlord and Staff were very friendly and helpful and the beer was very good. Although, it always is. This pub is a must if you visit Whitstable.

Have called into The Ship Centurion whenever we’re in Whitstable and have to say it is by far and away the friendliest and most welcoming pub not just in Whitstable but anywhere tbh. The staff and locals are so lovely.. this is a proper pub, decent, unpretentious and always leaves you with a warm feeling of a great time had and a smile on your face. A rare gem to be treasured.

Booked a table because the England v Scotland Rugby match was on. Good job as the place was full. They had said burgers only. All the burgers had a six nations theme. But I managed to get the regular menu, so I had the bangbang prawns and pork belly bites. My brother had the Irish burger with fries. This was a double beef smash patty with caramelized onions, streaky bacon, and guiness Irish stout bbq sauce. The food was good, hot and tasty. We had a front row table. Great service, so on the way out, we booked for the next match two weeks' time same table. Hope for a better result for England.

This might have to be the best pub roast we have ever had! It's a proper locals pub with a warm welcome and great service. My husband went for the pork belly which was tender and succulent with a lovely bit of crackling on top. The butternut squash and lentil nut roast was equally delicious. It was served with five different varieties of veg, all cooked to perfection. The roast potatoes were particularly excellent! Yorkshire pudding and stuffing accompanied each roast which is always a good sign, and most importantly there was plenty of gravy. The service was great from all staff despite being jam packed. We can't recommend this place enough!

Awesome local pub. Feels "proper". Being a freehouse helps. Local brewery has turned lots of the local pubs into generic bore-holes, with one classic local being rebranded as a wine bar. But the Ship sails on. * Still awesome. * Still the best pub in Whitstable.

Fantastic menu and definitely not boring pub grub. We had the pork belly bites ( good size portion, tasty and not sure how they manage to get crackling on each bite), paprika prawns ( huge and v tasty), chicken burger (devine), pigs in blankets ( who doesn’t love them .. not just for Christmas) and cheesy chips ( superb and great for sharing). All in all no weak dishes and although I haven’t tried it great to see a Cajun Chicken salad dish Ona pub menu.

The Beaney Cafe is spacious with high ceilings and probably a good place to meet with friends if you are a little bit unsure about meeting in a public place at the moment. Definitely recommend this as a place to meet with friends during this Coronovirus situation, as long as they stay open!
