M On The Square in Canterbury

Nice ambience and friendly staff. Bagels..... But little else on offer. That said my crushed avocado 🥑 and smoked salmon was spot on. It just needs a menu that offers more variety..... Quiches, Homemade Soups would be great additions. Located in The Old Town Hall. Fully Licensed and Coffee/Cake for afters.

This is a hard review to write as our servers were so lovely and polite and 2 out of 3 of our drinks were very nice but the hot coffee we ordered was extremely burnt and very bitter. That being said the iced coffee and smoothie we had were very nice. I feel a place with such nice staff and good location should definitely be offering a better coffee.

Nice building in town with good parking. Coffee was wishy-washy and a bit expensive. We just had pancake stack and a scone (expensive at £4-25). The prices are rather high but I guess I'm a bit biased because the coffee is so poor, the mocha tasted like Starbucks coffee with Cadbury drinking chocolate, I would expect better quality. Nice town, a convenient stop, we will try a different cafe next time.

A lovely atmosphere and setting however the owners seem to misunderstand where they are located and what the place could be. It has the potential to be a great brunch spot with friends, lovely lunches and could be buzzing but Bank holiday Saturday and there were just a handful of people in. It’s very overpriced and the only thing on the menu is bagels ( unless it’s a weekend evening and then you can get pizza) Don’t get me wrong the bagel was nice but at £14 for a hunters chicken bagel I was both shocked and disappointed it came with no sides. Drinks were equally overpriced for the centre of a market town- central London prices - Service was good and friendly and as I say a great place but we won’t come back I’m afraid £46 for two bagels a two drinks just isn’t sustainable

I can't think of a more pleasant way to spend a summer's evening than strolling down to M on the Square for a delicious freshly prepared sourdough pizza and a glass of wine in the beautiful surroundings of this restaurant, the interior is just right: cooling flagstone floors with doors and windows wide open allowing the sunshine and cool breeze to waft through the stunning space. M & Michael are lovely, warm and friendly and so hospitable. You can't help but think back to how the same wonderfully historic space was used as a market square all those centuries ago. They have brought an excellent contemporary twist to that historical space with terrific, expertly prepared and delicious dishes and a dedication to making sure each guest has a great experience. The menu is small, all freshly prepared pizzas with a huge choice of toppings and a terrific selection of wines. The perfect evening's treat and delicious food, what more could you ask for?

First time here, service good on arrival and coffee and cake was lovely. However was rather disappointed when the waiter started clearing our table before we had finished . When he realised I hadn’t finished my drink and apologised but carried on clearing the finished plates. Staff need some training in etiquette and not making customer feel they have to leave ….it wasn’t even busy

One of the most delicious cups of coffee I have tasted. Yummy apricot flapjack too. Very friendly and patient staff with a gaggle of talkative old women! Beautiful building and comfortable chairs. Has given me a reason to return to Brackley. Understand they do meals and drinks so will definitely go back to try those.

Fab place to have Brunch with friends, staff are friendly, welcoming and genuine, coffee is amazing and the pancakes and berries are to die for. Would definitely recommend

Lovely old building, excellent food and brilliant service. From the first smiled greeting to the little friendly chat as we left it was truly wonderful. The four young people running the place all seemed genuinely pleased to have as us guests, they worked well together and knew exactly what they were doing. Timing was spot on (not too fast, not too slow) and we felt special. Food being so good was almost paled by the outstanding service. Now desperately trying to think of a half-decent reason to travel back to Brackley to experience it all over again.

Came today for brunch for the first time and had a lovely meal. Staff very friendly and attentive and it had a great feel inside. Nice selection of breakfast items, opted for avocado on toast and added smoked salmon, husband had Eggs Benedict. Coffee lovely! The only reason for 4 stars as opposed to 5, was that the Eggs Benedict was on a fairly big bit of sourdough (great!) but only one poached egg, so half the breakfast was fairly dry. Not had an Eggs Benedict ever with just one egg … add one more and it would be a winner as plenty of ham and tasty hollandaise.

Stopped for coffee at about Sunday lunch time in Brackley Town centre and found this lovely establishment in the town hall. Staff were fantastic and helpful. It's a coffee house by day and a wine bar by night. Will definitely go back again

I had the opportunity to visit M on the Square, as I taking my elderly mother on mothering Sunday for brunch and a coffee. It was lovely to see the place so busy. Great service, great food and fabulous coffee. I would recommend and tell all my friends to come. It’s one of my favourite places, all staff are fantastic shows how great the management team are. I was there the Sunday the reviewer Paul, and his review is a complete fabrication of the truth, and looking at his other reviews then clearly nothing is ever good enough. I strongly believe if you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say anything at all Paul.

what a shame is lovely location is managed by an aggressive rude unprofessional manager. we arrive without booking on Mothers day which was quite , but not overly busy. we were seated and ordered drinks and food with 5 mins , which was very good. But alas we waited and waited & waited over half an hour. we asked after half an hour where and how long our food would be . The Manager then proceeded the tell me my order only went through at 11.22. around 10 mins after i placed it. upon me asking how much longer it would be he aggressively said he did not know & that 2 more orders were ahead of mine. The wait in any busy busy eatery is not the issue. we all know kitchen can be busy. My issue is with the Manager at M on the Square is the way he deals with it. at NO point did he apologize or try to easy the situation. he called me out to the hall away from the other customers ( i believe because the situation was not the 1st and he knows hoe aggressive he can get) . we left without having our food because we didn't want to wait another 1/2 hour.I must say though the rest of the waiting staff were exceptional. a real shame such a nice place is ruined by just one bad Manager.

I love this place, daytime or nighttime. The staff are friendly and professional, the menu is perfect for what was needed. The ambiance is simply perfect and I love the jazz, I think my favourite thing is that it is a place I can go with or without my children and know there is no running about from other children.

I ADORE this place, I love that there is finally a gorgeous, upmarket bar in Brackley. The service in this place is absolutely impeccable!! Feels like a lovely wine bar in an upmarket city! I just LOVE it The music and the atmosphere is spot on.

Bland coffee - I have had a better flat white out of a Costa service station machine. Bland atmosphere. All together a complete waste of a prime location; I wont be going back.

We visited today. What a lovely place! Run by a young friendly couple who were very welcoming. This wine bar is a real asset to the town, giving something different and exciting for the future, particularly once Covd restrictions are relaxed.
