A mini escape to France (oĂč peut-ĂȘtre la Belgique?) on a chilly winter's evening in the UK. FrĂ©dĂ©ric's beautiful restaurant had a log fire burning in the snug / bar to welcome us in, and he was a delightful and entertaining host. Delicious, authentic food and wine in a cosy dining room with just a few candle-lit tables. We were served a whole loaf of freshly-baked bread with butter to the table but still managed to clean our plates. Such a treat and thank you for your hospitality.

Set in beautiful grounds, Hartwell House is a unique hotel. Steeped in history we felt as if we had stepped into a Jane Austin novel. The house is beautifully restored and filled with antiquities. We loved being able to relax in its library after dinner. The spa is in a separate building and quite fabulous with a good sized pool with jacuzzi. The views from our 2nd floor bedroom were stunning and our room extremely spacious, even though it was not one of their premium rooms. We had afternoon tea and dinner and both were served with attention to detail and with elegant silver service. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. The service we experienced was friendly and professional. We felt very well looked after.

An exceptional facility in Haddenham. Pool is £8/hour on pristine tables with pristine equipment. 15 or so tables. Darts is free. 20+ professional grade dart boards. Full bar with good snack. Café next door if you need more than snacks. Football on numerous big screen TVs placed up high (no obscured views). Atmosphere is totally civilized; full of groups of friends, families, couples... Can't say enough good about this place.

Situated on the green in centre of Haddenham, all road parking, small restaurant with a courtyard at the back, no high chairs, limited menu but food was excellent, all well presented, very tasty and large portions. We will revisit.

Friendly relaxed cafe with yummy cafe food and brilliant cakes. The coffee is really good and the hot drinks always properly hot! The staff are wonderful, itâs a relaxed atmosphere and there is a fair bit of room around tables for a buggy or two. My favourite is the quiche with salad and chips - so good.

Entertainment by Beatle tribute band was excellent and the pizza was yummy. To đ it our stay in the pods was the best night sleep we ever had. Love the super king bed, coffee and biscuits and enjoyed using the microwave with our leftover pizza to warm it through. So good to see a great walk in shower too. Canât wait to come back and stay again and will take photos next time đ

My car was rendered immobile by flood damage enroute, after shopping and eating at the Garden Centre and Cafe we waited for assistance from the AA. We were guaranteed transport home and vehicle recovery with our AA policy. As closing time approached we reached out to the cafe manager with no response at all. We contacted the overall manager Dan. His response was appalling he proposed to lock us out of the garden centre , in the dark, in the rain, as it was utterly crucial that the three keyholder staff remaining got home, each to their individual crisis (There was local flooding and power cuts) So his solution was to stand four lady pensioners ranging from 60 to 93 years old on a public road. I asked him to think laterally and find a solution. The stranded vehicle would be unavailable to the AA locked in the car park. I appealed to him to think it through and find a solution , he replied it was not his responsibility and he had a "Duty Of Care" to his staff! He showed an utter lack of compassion and care in this situation. In the end the AA arrived minutes after closing time , Dan did not engage with the AA repairman who then worked under the threat of gates being locked. What monster would put a man like this in a position of responsibility for his vulnerable customers I would ask?
