A lovely 2 days stay at Hartwell House Spa. A beautiful house in exquisite grounds. The spa facilities are top notch and the treatments exceptional. If you book a massage, Christine is your girl! I asked for a deep tissue massage and got a deep tissue massage...that's rare! Beautiful accommodation and delicious food. We will be back!

Today we had a birthday celebration afternoon tea...the food was lovely with the hotel catering very well for our dietary needs...the staff were very attentive and we had a really great afternoon...however when we paid the bill we used a 15% off voucher that had been given us by Harwell House representatives...but we soon realised when we got home and looked at the receipt we had also been charged an extra 12.5% service charge which we hadn't been made aware of...so...note to self.. always check your receipt before leaving...as it was a telephone booking, there was no paperwork to advise us that this would happen...so .all in all.. bit of a disappointment after a lovely afternoon..and although the setting is beautiful it's a little expensive, in my own personal view.....

The staff is incredible. My Dad had Lisa's Martini and it was one of the best dessert Martini drinks he's ever had. I had a fantastic burger with Gorgonzola cheese on it. One of the best burgers I've ever had. I tried to figure out what the secret was, but you really just have to try it. Seafood was amazing from what my folks told me. Unbelievable service. Must try.

We had a Spa day gifted to us at Hartwell House which was an absolute delight! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. Their warm hospitality truly made our day memorable. The location of Hartwell House is simply breathtaking, nestled amidst picturesque surroundings that offer tranquility and serenity. Whether enjoying a leisurely stroll in the gardens or indulging in the delicious cuisine at the on-site restaurant, every moment at Hartwell House felt like a true escape. Highly recommend this gem for anyone seeking a perfect blend of luxury and relaxation. Have to say a special thank you to kristina who did the most incredible pregnancy massage and facial. As a beauty therapist myself, I’m so particular with treatments and kristina did a fantastic treatment.

This house, which is part of the Historic Hotels portfolio featuring Bodysgallen Hall, Hartwell House and Middlethorpe Hall, is a real treasure. There’s so much more to discover! This beautiful property has it all: a captivating history, an easy location about 40 miles northwest of London, 90 acres of gardens, remarkable architecture and art, an excellent restaurant and a wonderful spa. With such delicious afternoon tea, professional staff, a lush garden and stunning interiors, it’s truly impossible to leave Hartwell House. It's fabulous!

A wonderful experience all round. It was a very special occasion for us and the staff made the stay so nice. The room was marvellous, clean and beautifully furnished with lovely views over the parkland of the property. The rooms of this historical house are well looked after by the National Trust and I was surprised to learn that they run a few of their properties as hotels. The meals in the restaurant were excellent and again the staff were excellent. It was an expensive stay but well worth it and we would love to return some time. Thank you to everyone at Hartwell House.

Couldn’t find them on trustpilot anymore. Maybe they’ve removed themselves because of so many bad reviews. We stayed for my birthday celebration and enjoyed a beautiful room which the kind staff graciously welcomed us to. The food however was overcooked and very small portions. We ordered the lobster ravioli, duck, and monkfish and were completely unsatisfied. The wine was horrible too. Not an enjoyable experience. Can’t believe the chef is cooking for 10 Downing Street as the food has gone down in quality since I last visited. Not good value. Also, the jacuzzi was broken which was the main visit for our stay and there was no mention of this before our visit on the website or anywhere.

I went for a Spa day on a Tuesday. My therapist Alice was wonderful. I very much enjoyed my treatments, and am trying to find a time when I can revisit again in the near future 😉. They have hot beverages, cookies waters and fruit available in the Spa members room which overlooks the pool. It is a calm and beautiful destination. Walked the grounds. Was kindly shown some rooms and given a tour and brief history of the hotel/ property, as I'm considering booking a stay for my birthday. Unfortunately, they don't cater for lunch Mon- Fri. Afternoon tea, understandably needs to be booked in advance, and I wasn't in the mood for the cream tea option. So I'll have to comment on those next time round. It's apparently busier at the weekends, but I may have to risk that for the full experience. I also have to get into the habit of taking more pictures. I was way too busy enjoying the scenery and relaxing 🤫🤣😉

Excellent slightly bumbling old-school British establishment, and all the better for it. Anywhere that offers you wellies for your walk in the grounds can't be far off the right thing. Only minor complaint is that children were in the pool outside their allocated time. Just acting as children bombing into the water, but not the vibe we were looking for (more leisure centre, less sanctuary spa).

The gardens are stunning and well kept, lovely on a beautiful summers day I'd imagine, however the actual house and atmosphere appeared a little inhospitable. The food was fantastic, cakes scrumptious and beautifully presented, but ambience left a lot to be desired. Personally I wouldn't recommend to friends of family or return due to this. We visit Hartwell House quite often, and in the main the experience is usually pretty good. However, after visiting in June and now in late August, we were presented with exactly the same menu. Not the biggest issue. This time though my main course of pork was undercooked and the black pudding was inedible. On telling the waitress this there was just a shrug of the shoulders and a promise to tell the chef. On complaining to the cashier they just took off the price of the dessert - not really good enough. So disappointing for a birthday meal.

So this place is unique, Le Grand Dame of a hotel and worth visiting even just for the experience. Also Lawrence who gave us a tour was wonderful: knowledgable and polite and welcoming. The rooms are wonderful and the beds very comfortable. There are a couple of things however; a non-alcoholic single measure G&T was £16 inc. service, which was the same price as the martini.... daylight robbery! It really narks me off to be fleeced for a non alcoholic option as a non drinker. Also the taxi which was arranged by reception, was apparently supposed to be paid for via a link in a text (which obviously we didn't get as we didn't book it) and required a trip to a cash point. Reception should have known about that really. Both points should not have been an issue at a hotel at this level of cost. Having said that, they kindly returned an item back to me in the post without charge, having initially said they would deduct for postage. That is definitely more the in keeping with the calibre of a hotel of this quality.

Lovely experience, the spa is beautiful and comfortable. We'll maintained. The swimming pool is a lovely temperature. Good for some lengths or to relax in. Jacuzzi was perfect and strong jets to help soothe aches. The club room was a little disappointing. We were told there were fresh baked goods. This consisted of a handful of cookies and a little bowl of fruits. With seemingly no other food facilities, it was a long wait from 9am-2:30pm for our afternoon tea. The staff member there was very helpful and guided me on how to use their coffee machine - very nice tea and coffee selection. My 85-minute treatment was absolutely divine. The therapist, consultation, oils and experience 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The afternoon tea itself was in the main house and a beautiful setting. The food was divine, best afternoon tea I've had in a very long time. We had a little stroll around the grounds, which are very well maintained. The staff were incredible. Every single one of them was polite, friendly and helpful. Honestly, I didn't feel anything was too much trouble and felt very valued and taken care of.

Wifey & I visited after being given a voucher for afternoon tea by a neighbour. We were shown to our table in the “Public rooms” and our tea order was taken shortly thereafter. We’d ordered a sweet selection & a savoury selection so we both could pick & chose from each other. We’d also pointed out my wife was diabetic….. The stands arrived with our teas and it contained 3 tiny finger sandwiches on the bottom layer wit a small Choux bun with something whipped and again unidentifiable . 2nd layer, on the savoury had a slice of sausage roll with something yellow unidentifiable on the top & a small quiche. Top layer was scones and a praline nutty thing. Sweet one had the same sandwiches with quiche again and mire scones with a blackcurrant something, the praline thing and a macaron. We were give a pot of strawberry jam and clotted cream. Also another with a tomato chutney and some cream cheese. The quiches both had the taste spoilt by a smoky chutney as did the beef sandwich. The rest of the repast was very samey with little or no flavour…. We had to ask fir more tea as other diners had been asked but we hadn’t….we then realised that nothing had been given to us that was suitable for a diabetic ! We spoke to a waiter and an older gentleman who apologised profusely over the non diabetic goods. They were both extremely kind and friendly and a credit to the establishment…. Had we not been given a voucher I’d have been a bit disappointed if I’d spent £100 on afternoon tea..we both reckoned that the afternoon tea at Dobbies Garden Centre was more flavourful..

We visited as a family group of four adults. We ordered mains & desserts. Two main courses had to be returned as both looked as if they had been cooked earlier in the day. The alternatives were also poor. The cod my partner ordered was tinged with yellow not the perfectly white fish you would expect. The pork dish was also uninspiring a bit on the dry side. The duck we were told was ok. Desserts were better but not a great improvement. Not a great experience when you consider two courses @ £64 a head, wine extra. Think we will stick to the Five Arrows in Waddesdon an excellent Sunday lunch. Knocks spots of this place.

So beautiful and so quiet, it's difficult to believe you are literally a handful of miles from the centre of Aylesbury. This is a remarkably well kept house and grounds, offering high-end old-fashioned, friendly, personal service. All the staff are tuned into the same message, the pursuit of perfection. And yet it's not stuffy, it's just lovely. They clearly have a talented chef, evening meal and breakfast both top-end. So important, that! Furnishings are all beautifully upholstered, plumbing is all tip-top. Although this is old, nothing about it is tatty or broken. Everything is just right. Having enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea at Hartwell last year I knew that I'd like to spend more time in this beautiful place which has such a good feeling about it. I celebrated a special birthday with my oldest loveliest friends (17 of us). Some enjoyed the spa in the afternoon before evening drinks in the drawing room, dinner in the Octagon private dining room, overnight in the most stunning unique bedrooms, and breakfast in the private dining room again. We all fell in love with Heavenly Hartwell (as I call it). The location is close to Aylesbury yet once in the grounds, you become immersed in the solitude and the sense of history. The well-manicured lawns are all around you. The views are fantastic. The staff were very professional without being stuffy or too formal. They really looked after us so brilliantly. I'd like to flag up the delicious food we had at dinner and breakfast. Special mention to Mirella who is the amazing event organiser. She was with me all the way from 6 months before when I began my plans, and she made sure the party was a seamless success. Hartwell feels loved. Entering into the great hall to be welcomed with a blazing log fire and the faint smell of wood smoke was mood lifting on such a cold wet day. The staff were polite and helpful making sure we were comfortable before bringing menus for the afternoon tea. I have dietary needs and the kitchen had clearly worked hard to provide a glorious gluten free and vegetarian selection of sweet treats and sandwiches especially for me. What a beautiful house… restored elegantly and set in 90 acres of landscaped grounds. Peaceful and relaxing. Dinner is anything but relaxing. If you are going to charge £50 for a main course, then: - Don’t get the bill wrong - Don’t argue with the customer over the bill for 10 minutes before backing down and correcting it - Don’t claim your wine in coravin and then serve from a bottle that has been opened for a week - Don’t take away half drunk wine glasses when you are charging £25 a glass

The excellent ambience & service are not matched by the food. Seasonal lunch on Saturday proved disappointing. The grouse starter was glutinous; mains of pork belly decorated with a strange 'sausage-like' lump of tough pork off-cut, accompanied by charred fennel; chocolate dessert involved a milk chocolate exterior so hard it was chased around the plate with fork & spoon.

Drinks were forgotten about and basics like bread and condiments had to be asked for. I had a starter and main which were ok. I was twice given the wrong drink as the bar didn’t know what a white wine Spritzer was. The disaster came with the bill. Overcharged for drinks not received or ordered. 2 had starters and 2 had deserts with the main yet we were all charged for 3 courses and food we hadn’t had. and on the wrong menu option. My friend was staying the night and asked for her items to go on her account - this caused chaos. We were overcharged and it ruined the evening, we left having overpaid as were sick of having to stand in reception and go through the bill with others listening. Disappointed is being polite.

A very nice walk in the park the dog loved it. The little church is very charming and beautiful at night.

We went to dine here because it has two rosettes. Aylesbury has some lovely eating places to eat, Sadly, this is not one. All four of us were disappointed with the food :(. Service and ambiance were good. We had 3 courses and all were extremely BLAH. There are much better options.

My wife met her friend at Hartwell 50 years ago, when “young ladies were finished.....” and Hartwell was the go to establishment for both English and overseas families. So a recent reunion was a opportunity for the two of them to wind the clock back and see Hartwell in its new incarnation. The three of us decided to have lunch. We loved the whole experience. The decor was pretty perfect, as was the service. The menu was just right for us......modern, but not too clever. And the very engaging concierge took time out to show us around, which was much appreciated. But, setting aside our personal history angle, Hartwell is surely a very safe bet for anyone looking for a stylish hotel stay, or just an unhurried lunch. Not cheap, but real class never is.

I am really disappointed on returning from an afternoon tea for a birthday celebration. The quality of the food was disappointing and was over priced for what we had.The service was not friendly and not very attentive. It was also very embarrassing when we were not allowed to have 2 small balloons next to our seat in the lounge and no explanation was to given why.I will not be returning.

Enjoyed fabulous warm scones in the cafe - great friendly service and good value. Had planned to have afternoon tea in the hotel but tea and scones were a great consolation.

We stayed with "off peak luxury" we exceeded the £53 meal allowance per person pre-paid. However, the Quality of the food and wine was so good we did not complain. The meal bill for residents needed to be correct as we were given a bill for the full amount again despite pre-payment and a further 12.5%. The next morning the bill was corrected without a fuss, however it did spoil the excellent meal in the evening and caused confusion for the waiting staff. The service and the meal was excellent better than the Michelin star Manoir!

I spent an enjoyable few hours at Hartwell House having afternoon tea with friends. The setting is beautiful and the house impressive. It is close to where we live so the location was perfect. The staff were attentive but not intrusive. We were able to have peaceful chat but never felt ignored. Everyone we met was happy to help and nothing seem too much trouble. The food was lovely. There was a lot of it and we all left happily full. We didn't manage to eat it all so the staff boxed up the cakes for us to take home. I recommend treating yourself here.

I have dined at Hartwell House many times and always chose it for special occasions.Unfortunately my last visit didn't come up to expectation. Perhaps it was just the busy Friday night but everything seemed slower and less efficient than before. The meal itself was still very good and the service was still there but with less attention and efficiency.I hope it was a one off because I expect to return for a meal soon and hope all the old attentiveness and expertise is back. I'll let you know!

Dine in beautiful surroundings with exemplary service, all of the staff are very attentive without ever rushing you. We were a party of four celebrating our (my husband and I) golden wedding anniversary. The starters and desserts were magnificent but I was a little disappointed with my main course. I had the monkfish with herb gnocchi. Usually when you have gnocchi it is light and fluffy but this was rather stodgy and the monkfish was dry. However, the wines were delicious and afterwards coffee was served in the lounge, this was plentiful and accompanied by petit fours. A lovely finish to a lovely evening..

We stayed for one night, we wish it had been more. We were warmly welcomed, shown to our lovely room and after settling in enjoyed a drink at the bar, followed by a wonderful evening meal. The house itself is simply beautiful and very much enhanced our stay.We enjoyed a very nice breakfast followed by a walk in the grounds before departing. We shall most certainly return as soon as possible.

My friend was having a significant birthday and his wife asked me to book somewhere local that they hadn't been to. Hartwell House is set in impressive grounds and the menu is lovely, it is on the pricey side and would expect these prices if it had a Michelin star, but like most things in life you get what you paid for. We had a fabulous evening.

We stayed at this glorious historical hotel in 1992 and always promised we would return. It is exquisite with all the English history and impeccable manners to sustain it. The tariff is high but every dime is earned. So many luxurious rooms to read or gather for a chat. Food is nothing short of totally scrumptious!

We spent a most restful night at Hartwell House and enjoyed a relaxing evening meal. The dining hall is situate on the ground floor with high windows looking out onto the lawns. Tables are maybe a bit too close to each other but we were there on a quiet evening so atmosphere was more intimate than it most probably is when the restaurant is full.

I did not stay in the hotel part of Hartwell house but I came for a special occasion for afternoon tea and it was very peaceful and quiet. The food was very tasty and would highly recommend coming here for an occasion as there is a lovely walk around the house as well. Maybe not the most suitable for small children as they could be noisy and annoy other guests. But other than that 5 stars.

One of the best pints of Neck Oil I've ever had. Great to have a refreshing pint after a hot day on the Ridgeway.
