Had lunch here with my husband for his birthday. Friday lunchtime. Lovely decor, olde worlde looking. Service to seat us was very quick but taking our drink order a little slow, we ordered our main when ordering drinks. Drinks took a while to arrive but it was quite busy in the restaurant. Food was hot, nicely presented and really tasty.. Both had pudding which again was lovely. We will definitely return as even with a slower service it was an excellent restaurant and also meant we didn't feel rushed. Just would change the length of time it took to get drinks, other that that everything was great.

Me and my wife we attended a friend's party in Tring. I loved the easy location, spacious and so close to A41. We booked a Premier Inn plus and we had a room with a nice view, powerful shower, clean and fresh. Coffe machine Is a plus we enjoyed a lot with refills available at reception.

Such a shame that Charlie is giving up. Have enjoyed his food for 30 years in harpenden then Aston Clinton. It has always been good. I understand Charlie's brother may continue in the kitchen for a while, as a handover to the new owner. I hope the new restaurant will be supported as good chinese restaurants are far and few between.

"I had a fantastic experience at The Bell! The food was delicious, the service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. I would highly recommend this pub to anyone looking for a great meal in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Friendly service although advise booking in advance as it does get very busy. Be prepared for a wait, but staff are always very nice and do their best. Last visit we had a long wait, and the food came and mine was over cooked. I mentioned it and was asked if I wanted some more chicken, I said it was ok but just feed back to the kitchen in case there was someone who may make a fuss. Long story short, as an apology, there was no charge for our desserts. You can’t say better than that!

Arrived for a meal to be asked have you booked a table (we hadn’t) to be told we don’t accept walk in customers ( the restaurant was virtually empty)? But could sit in the bar side area and order from the same restaurant menu. I ordered a mixed grill with steak medium rare, and my partner ordered a bacon burger after approximately 40 minutes later the food arrived, my steak was so overcooked it was borderline black and bone dry, the triple cooked chips were barely cooked once never mind triple cooked, my partner’s burger was also burnt to a crisp it looked like a carpet tile and the bacon shattered into pieces when trying to cut it. I wouldn’t trust the chef (using that title very loosely) to make toast. Worse experience ever I wouldn’t return even if the food was free and I was starving! Avoid… top prices for extremely substandard food.

I had not been in the Bell since a Black tie New Year’s Eve party in 1970, when it boasted the finest wine cellar in Europe, owned by Gerard Manley Harris. Today’s Bell is somewhat tired by comparison, but the fire in the lounge was welcoming. This was an overnight stay to attend a 100th birthday party four miles away. The bedroom was fine, well appointed and an excellent shower. At breakfast I ordered Eggs Royale, which came with ham and not salmon, but I was in a rush, so I did nothing about it.
