It has been some 40 odd years since this was our local pub, and it has certainly changed! The food was lovely, service attentive and the lighting good enough to see what you were enjoying.

Three of us had three different dishes and all three found the food excellent. One dish was initially unavailable but they managed to arrange it.

Excellent food and service. Friendly and helpful as ever. Tonight we tried the homemade tiramisu - what a fabulous dessert! Hanging kebabs are a must for mains.

All you'd expect from a local country pub with the traditional menu but the added bonus of fresh and different dishes too . Famous hanging kebabs & their Scott eggs are our favourites

Had a reunion lunch for 6 and it was great. There were 3 menus to choose from.. a lunch set price, normal lunch menu or the main menu. Almost too much to choose from! All the prices were reasonable. We sat inside on an oval table which was fab for a group. They also have a large garden with plenty of tables. Some of which are covered for our unpredictable weather. Service was excellent !

Once a month 5 of us try different restaurants in and around Aylesbury. The service in the oak was the worst. We had to wait ages for our drinks then over a hour to get our food we was never asked if we needed another drink ..but the pub was nice the food was very good ..I hope the service we got was a one off .but wouldn't go again

Excellent pub we visited with friends on a weekday evening. Appeared to be plenty of space in the car park and we were welcomed on entering. They were fairly quiet on our arrival, but soon became quite busy with only one table still unused when we left some 2 hours after arrival. The staff were polite and attentive but not overly so. Menu is available online (https://oakastonclinton.com) and I can recommend the hanging kebab. Beers available include London Pride and ESB, both on tap, as well as the usual lagers etc. Highly recommend a visit

Have visited numerous times and it has been brilliant on each occasion. In the most recent visit, Chloe and Ella helped with organising our dad's birthday meal and they were very helpful. Prior to that, Libby, our regular server, has always been great in terms of her service. The food is good and reasonably priced, and the pub is dog friendly too which is always a bonus.

The miniature kebabs served at lunchtime are perfect for someone who finds a large main too much. Even so it came with a tasty salad, which was more than just a lettuce leaf, hummus, pitta bread and chips. The chicken satay kebab was tasty and moist. Will definitely be paying another visit as it has a big menu so I won't be short of things to try. Staff all seemed happy to see and serve diners as well.

We were refused table service despite not being that busy. We offered to put card behind bar but told “against the rules “. Left and went somewhere more welcoming.

Went for a meal 3 out of the 4 had the hanging kebabs which everyone enjoyed maybe have the pitta bread not toasted as a little hard I had scampi chips and salad was slightly disappointed with my salad no tomatoes not really an but my husband enjoyed his

We had a lovely lunch here, really impressed. The pub is really lovely inside with a nice big garden too. The service was pleasant and our food came out really quickly. We had the mixed kebab skewers and another of our party had gammon, eggs and chips. The portions were very generous and the quality of the food first class. I thought it was really good value too. My only slight grumble was the quality of the sausage on the kids meal. It was a cheap, chip shop style one. Given we watched several high quality meals leave the kitchen, I would’ve expected a decent butchers quality sausage. But my little one still loved it and it won’t stop us visiting again.

Well this was a real find. 3pm on a Sunday and the beer garden was doing well with pizzas available freshly cooked outdoors. Also a good duo band playing all the classics. English pub at its best 😍

Dire service Avoid unless you have 5 or 6 hours to have a meal

I don’t like the oak that much. In my opinion the bell is infinitely better so you should just go there instead. Also the oak is a bit out of the way in the village so it’s in an awkward location. The toilets are though. One time I was walking past and really needed a pee and the atmosphere was nice

Came here for lunch with my family. And wow the service and food was amazing. My partner had The Haddock and chips the fish was so big it didn’t fit on the plate he said that it was the best fish and chips he’s had for years. Thank you guys we had a lovely experience and we will definitely be back 😊

We have been going to oak for the past year but the last two times the food has been of very poor quality my daughter's kebab was burnt but we waited close on an hour so she just cut up the burnt side and ate what she could My husband's roast was very disappointing, obviously there's a new chef and not up to the standard we enjoyed previously. Sorry but not worth the money spent

I rang the oak to enquire about a birthday event for 30 people. 5 days later and 2 phone calls from me and not one reply. I know for some businesses its more hassle than its worth, but surely a phone call saying thanks but no thanks wouldn't have been hard? Honestly surprised, I would have thought there was good money to be made in the drink sales and buffet we wanted.

We attended the beer festival on Saturday & had an absolutely fab day/night. Firstly the food stall was amazing, food was lush and the team were friendly, polite and helpful. On to Harry Price (we asked for his name), this young lad spent the whole night constantly making sure every glass, bottle and rubbish was removed from all the tables. He worked so hard and again was friendly and polite, I hope he was getting paid well because he earned every penny!! Thanks Harry for looking after us all 👍🏻

The skewers were well cooked and seasoned. The atmosphere was okay. I don’t know if it was because there’s only a few of them and they must have been stressed but I didn’t think the service was the best, not very friendly.

We came to The Oak to celebrate a birthday with a large family group of 18 (adults and kids of mixed ages). The staff were so welcoming and accommodating even when some of our party were running late and we needed to delay the food - they were clearly busy but always made time to check in on things and did everything with a smile. The food was absolutely delicious and the portions were a great size, they brought out all the food almost instantaneously which is no mean feat for such a big group and everything was hot. Thank you so much to all the staff, both front of house and kitchen, for such a delicious lunch and lovely afternoon. Will be recommending and returning (as this was our first visit!).

Good food good price and good service

I had a wonderful experience at the oak, Aston Clinton. The staff were friendly and attentive, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. I ordered the roast lamb with mint sauce, and it was cooked to perfection. The portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. The oak also has a great selection of drinks, from local ales to fine wines. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quality meal in a charming setting.

Service overall was good, however the waitresses should serve the tables in order of arrival. We noticed a couple of tables were served before ours. This is quite irritating for a customer. Food delicious. Thank you.

A wonderful experience at the Oak, easy to book and very welcoming. The food was delicious and plentiful, we had Sunday roast, brisket of beef, which to our disappointment we couldn't finish ! The wine was delicious, i really enjoy a New Zealand Savingon Blanc, the cruz campo was cheaper than another local pub.

Get what you paid for so although not cheap food was plentiful and delicious. Need a bit more extended menu though - maybe some pasta dishes? And possibly a bit more desert choices - Eton Mess or a fruit tart?

Food was ok (mushroom burger) but the hanging kebab things were mediocre and expensive. The only decent ale was London Pride which was a shame, not everyone wants craft beers; get some Doombar or Tribute in, even in bottles. Kids running everywhere with no parental supervision. Very much a certain demographic...

First time I went to The Oak, Aston Clinton with my friends. I absolutely loved it. The kebab was delicious, mine was vegetarian. We loved the waitress, she was happy, bubbly and friendly, attentive to the needs of the client. I will be back definitely. 🫶🏻

Old fashioned pub in Aston Clinton. Visited in December to celebrate a christening. Used to much more rural pubs but a nice place to vosit

Visited on a Saturday afternoon 25/11/23. 4 Adults, 2 Children. The atmosphere and Christmas decorations were lovely, the pub is old - the low ceilings and huge fireplaces are awesome, and it feels like a proper pub. The restaurant service is pretty famous locally for its hanging kebabs, and for good reason. The service was fine, nothing exemplary, just fine. The girls serving us were polite and served us in due time. Everything was acceptable. The food was great. Prices are affordable and fair. We ordered Fish & Chips and 3x Satay Skewers. Everything was fresh, hot, and well seasoned, and the portions were decent, too. The only slight issue I had was with the satay sauce served with the skewers. It wasn't nearly 'peanutty' enough. The whole table said as much, it nothing like what you'd want at a chinese takeaway, far too bland. Long story short, class act deserves the reputation it holds, its lovely.

Nice place if you sit near the back of the pub. Parking is not great, very narrow and small. Food was average. We had hanging kebabs and they were ok but seemed a little dry Service was nice, and friendly.

We went for lunch on the off chance with an old lady(mother in law), who had last visited about 20 years ago. The service was great, and the food presentation plus taste very good. Cocoa was looked after too. Very good value for money and a variable selection of ales/ciders. We will return to sample the fare again perhaps even for the 2023 Christmas menu. Thank you.

We have booked here twice inside a month and on both times the restaurant was full. The first time we were sat in the bar area where we had to endure a lot of noise from around by people who were watching the rugby final. Our second visit again a full restaurant and sat at the same table. This time we waited almost one hour for our mains to arrive. Won’t be going again.

My husband and I met friends at The Oak for lunch yesterday. It was our very first visit to the pub and we all really enjoyed the ambience, food and drink. The staff were lovely, friendly and accommodating. It's such a cosy pub we didn't want to leave. The food was plentiful, well cooked and presented, excellent value for money too. We aren't local but, we all agree that we will definitely make a return visit very soon and we would certainly recommend The Oak.

The portions were generous. The staff were polite and helpful. My gammon steak was thick and tender. Will be happy to go there more often.

Our favourite local pub in Aston Clinton! Great pub, good choice of beers and wine., food is excellent and always friendly service. Also it's a pub which really is great in all seasons,l - great garden in summer and a cosy in doors during the winter!

A cosy, homey pub. The sort you'd like to make your local. Friendly atmosphere, great food, and lovely staff. Excellent value for money, I expected the bill to be at least 20% more than it was. Definitely on the list for another visit.

The food was great, and the service was good. Hanging kebabs are lovely. Is a lovely county vibe, especially in the winter with fire on. Gave a 4 star as I felt prices have gone up a lot since I visited last Christmas.

Lunch with bestie and her family for her birthday. Food was very good as usual. Serving staff lovely and were working really hard in the heat and it was very busy.

Sunday lunch. The staff could not have been less interested. The pub wasn't busy so they couldn't use busy as an excuse. Very dissappointing.

Went on a Saturday afternoon and pub was already quite busy. Ordered the hanging chicken bbq kebab which came with chips and salad, it was excellent. Staff were really good, efficient and friendly. Food prices are on the higher side for a pub meal. Ambience was lovely. Plenty of parking spaces and a nice beer garden if weather permits. Would go again.

Breakfast is the best around and the lunch/dinner time hanging kebabs are great.

Great place to take the family in a Sunday. Service could have been quicker and friendlier but perhaps they’re short staffed. They had a man making balloon animals in the garden. I had the chicken roast which was 7/10. Servings were enormous!

We were seated too close to other table which was annoying. Asked for well done steak, it was red inside. Great waiter. Please respect customers who have come out for a night out and who are paying a lot of money for food.

Went with a friend after his recommendation. He was 100% right the food and venue is really good. Friendly staff, food prices and quality is good. Great place for families, friends, business meeting etc. Had the Tomahawk but for one person hahaha. The hanging kebab looks awesome but the Tomahawk was calling my name lol. The cinnamon rice pudding was very nice also.

Turned up and told no reservation showed confirmation then showed to table the first waitress was angry and un professional next waitress was fine but felt already dissatisfied

We cycled here and met family and really enjoyed it. It’s a traditional English pub. The garden is absolutely perfect for summer with shade and sun if you want it. Will definitely keep coming back instead of going to our usual local in Weston Turville. Great service and lovely food.

Nice atmosphere,waiting staff and location but had to order from the lunch menu. Two of us are vegetarian so asked for Ham, Egg & Chips with Halloumi instead of the Ham. It was already an exorbitant price at £12 and when the bill came, I realised I’d been charged an extra £2 per dish for the Halloumi. I queried it and the manager said it was because Halloumi is more expensive than Ham. I felt it was all a bit of a rip-off!

Menu very boring, hasn’t changed in 2.5 years no real specials although they have a special board unless you call gammon egg and chips special great pint of London Pride and when they had ESB that was good but they don’t have it now sometimes service isn’t great young staff that can sometimes be rude

We were to meet two friends who live in Markyate, so we chose a venue that lay between us, - hence The Oak, which seemed to be popular in the write-ups of other diners. We arrived at lunch-time, & were shown to a table straight away. I can't recall exactly what we ate, but we were all happy with our choices. The service was very good, especially as recent events such as Covid had caused a reduction in staff. We stayed until 4.30pm! We have no hesitation in recommending the Oak, & would happily go there again.

Went today for Sunday dinner and it was the best roast I’ve ever had eating out. The potatoes were so tasty, they were actually better than mine, the beef melted in the mouth. I would highly recommend a visit, amazing food and friendly service.

Ate here last weekend with a relative. We both had the lamb shepherds pie which was delicious. The staff were very attentive too. A little pricey!
