Warm welcome, rooms very comfortable and very good value, lovely evening meal

Prior to booking I called the 5 bells and specifically asked if the beds in double rooms were kingsize beds rather than standard doubles. I was told that all double rooms had king size beds, and on that basis booked 4 rooms with one as a twin. On checking in to the inn I also asked the question again and was told by the staff behind the bar that all double rooms had king size beds. On going into the rooms it was obvious that the double rooms have standard double beds (4'6" wide not 5' wide). Prior to booking I spent quite some time dismissing various other options in the area as the beds were not kingsize and so felt that I was fundamentally misled by staff both prior to booking and on arrival - this needs to be corrected as it is tantamount to false advertising / misrepresentation.

Staff fantastic. Room clean, ensuite uptodate, bed comfortable. Plenty of parking. Lovely breakfast.

The staff friendliness when checking in and when we dined in restaurant was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble., the Sunday Roast was very tasty . The room was spotless and very comfortable, no air con but fan is provided and adequate in the August heat

Although the Five Bells is a pub and restaurant, our rooms were very quiet and we had a very relaxing stay. The food and service were excellent.

Everything was good, food brilliant. Room was a bit airless but we didn't notice the fan until the morning. Only complaint about the food was that the Full English Breakfast was simply too much. One sausage one hash brown instead of two would have been plenty.

Great location, great food, the staff were excellent. I would certainly stay again. I definitely recommend the 5 Bells.

Room was clean and comfy. Staff friendly and helpful. Food excellent Not so good was the fact on Friday night ran out of salad meal. Also ran out of soft drink. On Sunday morning ran out of eggs, although this was fixed but only after a wait. Overall trip was not let down by these little things but could have been better.

Had a great overnight stay , room was superb , restaurant evening food excellent, great breakfast choice and quality . All the staff we interacted with were friendly and polite this pub and hotel is a hidden gem which we will certainly use again. Thank you to all the staff for delivering a great customer experience.

Food and atmosphere were great. The on suite in the room was too small we couldn’t even open the door fully without it hitting the radiator. The room was very warm, uncomfortably warm.

James and the team were superb. Cat and Jodie were both lovely, our room was spotless, warm and comfortable. The food was great and there was always a welcoming atmosphere.

Very comfortable room, clean bathroom and hot water. Food very good, service great. Warm friendly atmosphere and staff. Great position for where we wanted to visit, plenty of parking. Radiator only seemed to be working part of the time, but a portable one provided.

James, the owner was brilliant throughout! We have stayed before - last October and he is such a warm, engaging and very customer focussed business owner. Also, especial thanks to Karen, the breakfast host who could not do enough for us to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible. She even enquired about the reason for our visit (son's Passing Out Parade) and was genuinely interested in us and our family group.

The rooms are very comfortable, lovely location .. ideal for a quiet get away ..

A really great proper pub for a start. Atmosphere was relaxing, friendly and welcoming. The food was awesome this includes breakfast and food choices. A great welcome when you arrive by staff who are super friendly and helpful. Karen the lady who takes your breakfast orders was so nice and friendly, really chatty and welcoming. Lisa your Chef cooks the most delicious food, she deserves a pay rise. Her macaroni cheese was to die for. Loved chatting to her, just so nice and helpful. Room was clean, comfy and cosy and I had no trouble sleeping in your comfy bed. I was there on business so was on my own and at no point did I feel unsafe or uncomfortable. I will be back down from Bristol for business again in Feb and March and will definitely be staying here again.

Great Inn & atmosphere with good food

All is great. Only one thing you can add in the room is the hair dryer

We had a lovely time. The pub was beautifully decorated, and the staff were fantastic. The food was amazing and the service was quick. Nothing felt like too much. The room was lovely and warm, with a huge bed. Teas and coffees were available. It would have been good if shampoo and conditioner had been available. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Hotel was lovely. Not over busy which was nice. Staff were helpful and polite. Room was quaint and clean. Had everything needed for a short stay. Food was very good. The only thing we noted that could do with some attention was the shower tray leaked. When having a shower and the tray fills up it overspills onto the floor.

The staff were very welcoming, the room was cozy and the evening meals we had and breakfast were all fantastic 😀

You have big parking enough for guests, room was very nice looking, clean with comfortable bed and bathroom. Restaurant offered lovely meals and good atmosphere. Price was as well good for stay in so lovely place.

I loved the overall atmosphere. Very cosy and warm. Food was lovely! What I think could be improved- it was difficult to operate the TV without a remote. Music in the pub didn't suit at all. You should send your bartenders for a proper training as they do not know how to serve basic drinks. However this didn't put me off and I'd love to stay there again.
