Started off well, all the staff friendly. Then went rapidly down hill. They took there time collecting out plates and giving us the dessert menu which was fine. When we got the dessert menu once again time was taken before they took our order. Once taken out order and received desserts and glass of wine we got told we had 15 minutes to consume it. 5 mins later got told in a very aggressive way we had 5 mins left and we need to go. Then a diffrent waiter came over who was very rude when I asked to take my dessert home as I'm not allowed to it here. It gets worse. We now have a hysterical waitress back
waving her arms around saying she is in trouble with the boss . This went on and on and we now have the other tables looking at us. Now the boss returns and it goes on and on and on. More tears another sarcastic waiter. Never experienced anything like it totally bazzare and left us all numb to what should have been a lovely relaxed evening. We had £10 taken off the bill which was the desserts thst we didn't get to eat and the service charge. Will not be returning. I will wait for his rude response as seen by other complaints.
Beautiful food you get so much. Take my advice do not eat lunch if you are going for dinner. You'll get enough food for 3 meals. I was so full I couldn't walk. The staff were THE most friendly I have ever encountered in a pub that I have eaten at. I have never ever seen such wonderful beauty in humans. If you love food and love peas and love large portions at an extremely reasonable rate. I implore you to visit here asap.
The setting of this pub is really beautiful and my friend and I were really looking forward to eating there. I was surprised at how quiet it was for a Friday evening but thought maybe it’s because it’s January and people don’t go out much .
The fire had practically gone out and we had to ask the staff if they could get it going again as we were cold sitting at our table . The staff were very helpful and soon managed to start it up again .We decided to choose a few of the starters to share as we both wanted to try out a variety of the dishes from the menu.
The menu is based around tapas and I have to say certainly not like any we have tasted before . The bread was over done and dry, The mushrooms were bland and badly presented. The chips were fine but I suppose you can’t really get those wrong.
We chose some sort of apple pie come tart as a dessert which was inedible as the cloves actually numbed our tongues. After only taking two bites we decided to leave the rest .
To be honest the entire meal was shockingly bad . I understand the Royal Oak in Yattingdon is a sister restaurant. As we eat there regularly we both expected the food to be as good and were really looking forward to trying out their tapas menu.
Truly the worst meal we have had in years and sadly the setting is not enough to make either of us want to go back there .
It might be a good idea for the people running the pub to read the room , if you can’t fill your pub on a Friday evening, maybe you need to rethink the menu . My advice would be to enjoy the setting and stick with ordering a bag of crisps that way you won’t be left with a bad taste in your mouth.
Fabulous pub. Popped in for a spot of lunch, the most incredible roast beef sandwich ever! Perfectly cooked beef and plenty of it with salad and a delicious celeriac slaw (more please!). Friendly service and very reasonable price. Love the pub itself, so characterful, will definitely return.
Very poor quality food. The chicken was tougher than Mike Tyson and the meal in general was very bland.
Both of the dishes served lacked authenticity and felt like they had been par cooked and knocked up in minutes.
Very disappointed overall.
Lugar ótimo com uma comida gostosa e deliciosa- trazendo o sabor da serra gaúcha !! Bom atendimento e um ambiente agradável para aproveitar a dois ou com a família!! Vale a pena e o preço é justo !!
So appealing from the outside. We’d booked online. The hotels couldn’t find the reservation despite us showing the confirmation. The restaurant was nearly empty. Necessary? Shown to a table and waited. And waited. Finally ordered but taken in rather a graceless manner. Food arrived, rather dry noodles and generally rather average. Asked for soy sauce which came with nice chilli pickles which was promptly removed for presumably another table. Their focus seemed to be on the succession of food delivery drivers who formed an orderly queue by the door.
Great flavour food, unusual combinations and excellent portions.
A lovely light dining area and you can have a table overlooking the beautiful scenery and golf course.
The only negative was the male servers who were a bit surly, but don't let this put you off as the young girl server was delightful.
Great food, reasonable prices, lovely friendly staff. We were a large party so we had pre ordered but I was still impressed that the all the food came out together, piping hot and very tasty. Some of us arrived early but the table was ready and we were welcomed to sit down and have a drink or coffee while we waited for our companions.

Had an amazing stay and Christmas Doo here. Staff are always really really lovely. If I had a singular gripe it would be my forgotten drinks order. But they were more than lovely when rectifying this.
