Great Chinese new year menu and event loved it, great food as always

Had a sat menu for 2 people and it was all delicious food. Perfect serving to be pleasantly full but not stuffed. Served piping hot and then kept warm on the table. Cute little room and friendly staff. Would become a regular if lived locally!

Our group of 12 were really well looked after. The food was delicious and the staff are so pleasant. A lot of different choices but all delivered at the same time.

We visited Thai shire on 22nd December. The ladies serving seemed really attentive at first, but then as time went by it was obvious they were just trying to placate us, as us and the entire room of only 4 parties, waited 2 1/2 hours for our main course. We could see and the ladies even confirmed it, that they were concentrating on serving the takeaway orders rather than their paying guests in the restaurant. We had 4 children with us and it ruined the evening as everyone had enough by 9:30 and didn’t want a big meal anymore. So loads of it got wasted. The food was ok, but not the best I’ve had. It was neither a Thai or Chinese, and not that cheap when you add in rice separately. Trying too hard to be both. Then the bill arrives and isn’t even itemised. Do not go here unless you don’t mind wasting 3 hours on average food.

Thai Shire is the most wonderful little spot where you can find truly exceptional Chinese, Thai and Malay food served by beautifully warm and welcoming staff. We love it there and always come away grinning.

We are locals and only found this absolute gem,three months ago but cannot stop going back. We recently enjoyed our anniversary dinner with them and as always the food was incredible, each element was just right and the service was warm and attentive without being too eager. We have also had take away from here and the standards are as high, whether you eat in or take away. We look forward to our next visit (and for more chicken satay...) very soon.

Fantastic good been twice in the last month, generous portions and well priced.

Really enjoyed this thai meal. It was a no thrills good quality meal. The ladies serving couldn't of been more pleasant or accomadating. I would definetly recommend visiting if you are staying in the area.

Lovely welcome- booked this after reading positive reviews…… Food was great….. menu was a great selection we had great tasty food but maybe a bit too much fish sauce in the red curry - needed to drink all evening after !

We were staying in the area for the weekend and decided to go and get a takaway. After having a quick flick through the reviews we changed our minds and decided to eat here and I'm sure glad we did! This place is a hidden gem! It's only small inside but we were seated very quickly. (Takeaway is an option though). The food was absolutely amazing! I would give it 5stars+ We will definitely come back here next time we are in the area.

The best prawn toast I’ve ever eaten! Only a small restaurant, but this was nice as it didn’t get too loud in there. Waiters were very friendly.

Thai Shire has been consistently good over the many years we have visited. Super friendly team, cosy & clean restaurant, and fantastic food. We were recommended the Kari dish recently and wow it was a truly memorable curry. Have since been back twice for it! Great choice of food, everything is always fresh and tasty and well presented. If you want a takeaway you will need to ring and book ahead of time. A real highlight of the Chippy food scene!

I've known this restaurant for 22 years over which time the food has varied between good and great. I visited in September 2024 and am delighted to report that although they have a slightly reduced number of tables from a few years ago, the food is at it's absolute best (praise indeed for a Thai restaurant!) My partner and I had the Ceria Meal for two which comprised three courses and three mains for the main course. Fantastic value when compared to pubs locally who seem to think it acceptable to charge £15-20 for a main course and then charge extra for side-dishes ....

Had a great meal here early on a Saturday evening. Went for a set meal which was good value and every course was exceptional, enjoyed with a nice bottle of Malbec.

We had yet another delicious meal at the Thai Shire this evening. The restaurant is very authentic with lovely friendly staff. We recommend the red Thai curry and sweet and sour king prawns although everything is so flavoursome. Thanks again, we will be back

Had a takeaway.... food really poor, congealed noodles, oily vegetable dishes, not much flavour.

Set in a small converted cottage with the dining area in the living room part this small restaurant is a gem.The two ladies serving the tables work their socks off,it's such a friendly atmosphere the food is a mix of Chinese, Malaysian and Thai and delicious highly recommended.

We booked a table for four persons after reading other people’s comments, we have to say we really were not disappointed. The staff were friendly and gave us good advice on each of the meals which is really handy if you can’t manage anything that may be considered too spicy. We would recommend that you contact the restaurant and pre book your table as the restaurant is quite small to avoid disappointment, however, we think it makes it more intimate and cosy. We will certainly book this restaurant again when we are next in the area.

This place is a little gem. The staff were wonderful, so pleasant and attentive and the food was amazing,best Pananf I've ever had. I would highly recommend this lovely, little restaurant.

AVOID - OWNER IS A RACIST. She was the nastiest person I have ever encountered in a customer facing role. I ordered a pad prik chicken to takeaway, it was inedible. The chicken was like cardboard and full of broken pieces of lemongrass. As I was staying nearby, I brought it back and explained very politely and reasonably that the food was really not acceptable, explained why, and asked for a refund. The owner opened the food, started holding it up on a fork, and told me I dont know what I'm talking about. She argued and refused to refund me, then she asked me where I'm from and laughed in my face and said "that's why" when I answered. I asked her what does it matter what country I'm from. She shouted at me like a deranged lunatic. Her employee chimed in and started going around the restaurant asking customers if they agreed their food was dry and not good. I asked them if they always tried to publicly humiliate paying customers when they don't like their food. She told me to leave a bad review and screamed me out. I've never been treated so poorly while maintaining my manners and basic human decency. Customer service at this place is non existent. I can't recommend avoiding this place strongly enough unless you like dealing with greedy, crazy racists and absolutely inedible garbage.

2 day stay in chippy and looking for some where to eat other than the premier inn. Did not book and where quickly seated at 630pm in a small, friendly, authentic dining area. By 6:45 the place was nearly full of people who booked and were also regulars, ( always a good sign). We ordered starters and Thai mains which promptly came and were delicious, with fresh flavours / ingredients. The 2 ladies tending to all the diners and the takeaway customers were so attentive and friendly. Definitely recommend if you like Thai, Chinese or Malay.

This is 10/10 my favourite restaurant in Chipping Norton. The food is absolutely amazing, the staff are wonderful and it's all fast, delicious and amazing value for money. If you can, do book because it gets very busy every night! We always have the best time here. You should definitely go.

Another excellent meal at Thai Shire! We love coming here as the food is always delicious. Tried the mushroom satay which was lovely, and the tempura vegetables are so light and tasty. Lovely friendly staff too.

This review is for a takeaway meal. We got a takeaway from here one night in May, having read some reviews we were looking forward to it. Sadly our expectation's were not met. Although the staff were very friendly, the food was not only overpriced, but was the worst Thai meal we have ever had. The duck was seriously overcooked and dried out, the curry was watery, the ribs were not up to scratch and the mixed starter was rubbish. The rice was nothing to write home about either. Very, very poor and all I can say about the people who think this place is great, is they don't know what good Thai food is like!

The food was good , but I waited 2 hours for the main course to arrive. Starters came in the first half hour, but then waited an hour and a half for the main meal. Not good .

Very rude staff. The woman who takes calls is appalling and has a disgusting manner. Don't go here !!

Always a warm welcome here. Very good food - generous portions and a nice mix of Chinese/Thai/Malay cuisine. Not expensive for the quality and a lovely night out. We will always come back.

I wish we'd had time to have a starter as well as a main course because the mains were delicious. We were walk-ins on a busy Friday evening on a strict time budget and the restaurant had us back on the street 5 minutes before we needed to be. They drove the experience rather than us, making it reassuring and pleasant. They are a long way from our home but we will make sure to visit again.

We had the best food here - so glad we came across this restaurant on our trip! We loved all the dishes we ordered, but especially the duck pancakes and the king prawns in nyonya sauce 👌🏼 the ladies working there were also so lovely. Thank you!

A small restaurant with a big menu. Had a terrific meal here for my partners birthday. The food was excellent and the service superb.

Had an excellent meal here, can’t fault the food at all It was all delicious and piping hot The mixed starters were my favourite All the usual dishes you’d get in a Chinese plus Thai dishes so it’s a good mix 4 dining had Mixed starter’s, duck, 6 dishes plus rice and 2 bottles of wine for £165 If it was based on food alone I would have given 5 stars 100% but the restaurant itself isn’t the most comfortable It’s a very small room with about 8/9 tables so it felt a bit cramped but I wouldn’t let this put me off and we will definitely be returning soon No hesitation in recommending The Thai Shire

If I could complain, It'd be that the immaculate and tasty food wasn't limitless! Cannot rate this place higher. If you're in the area and like chinese/thai food, EAT HERE!! You will not be disappointed

We had an absolutely amazing time at Thai Shire. The food was incredible quality, flavours were fantastic and some very generous portion sizes, so great value for money too! Customer service was wonderful, we were visiting on the first night of our holiday and received some wonderful recommendations of places to visit on top of that. If I could rate it more than 5 stars I would!

Had dinner at Thai Shire last night. Still one of the best places to eat in Chippy.

6 tables. 1 efficient waitress with a full on mask and hand sanitizer stations all over the place. Menu has masses of choices that annoys me, especially when I’m hungry. Restaurant was cold, not really cold, though my legs and feet were chilly. Price was reasonable… food servings fair, quality ok and taste good, though salty in the end, vit dehydrating. All in all somehow definitely not a bad place, just lacking and especially when I was so excited from such a good review. I’m not hating on this place… just … mmm….. lacking somehow. Wish them best of luck.. Waitress said menu will be reduced to popular choices in January. Only 1 chef coz it’s easier to do it alone than work with others…. Yeah somehow this is all a bit glitchy from my point of view.. good luck ThaiShire…

Visited Thai Shire as it came highly recommended and had many great reviews. Surprisingly, the food was absolutely terrible. Prices have gone up (understandable in the current climate) and was hand written on the menu. The quality of the ingredients used was very poor. We have eaten in many Thai restaurants and the taste is not authentic. Surprised at all the glowing reviews. The only positive thing was the excellent service of the waitress. It was not worth a special journey.

We had a takeaway last night. Pad thai was ok but didnt really taste like Pad Thai. The red curry was more like green curry and very greasy. I reckon stick to the chinese menu and you will do better.

Couldn't get in, nobody answered the phone when we tried to book, very unhelpful when we tried to get a table when we arrived in person.

Asked to wear a mask when I'm exempt and it's no longer legal - only stood in doorway for takeaway collection. Was first asked to stay outside. What about dine in customers who are exempt... Are they even allowed inside? Shameful.

Fantastic takeaway. We have eaten here in the past and loved the food and the takeout was certainly delicious and up to expectations. The portions were generous and tasty as ever, we were home in a couple of minutes and it all microwaved easily, superb thank you.

I’ve been visiting the Thai Shire for about 6 years now and can honestly say I’ve never ever had a bad meal there. The staff are absolutely wonderful, the food is authentic and tasty, and I can’t wait till we can sit inside again!

We had high hopes for Thai Shire, not only because it had been recommended personally but we had read raving reviews on Trip Advisor and google. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations for us. The food smelt delicious when we picked it up but sadly a few minutes after we got it home and onto our plates, the food was cold. We also found the two curry’s we had ordered were so watery that there wasn’t much substance to them at all. Possibly the most concerning aspect of the take away is that both my partner and I ended up with upset stomachs. We were really disappointed as we were looking forward to a good take away and the staff were so friendly and helpful that we regret having to write this review. Maybe we were just the unlucky ones?

the food is consistently superb with good veggie options and the service is always impeccable. Really nice atmosphere and great people. We really miss eating here, but the takeouts during covid have been a life saver. We really liked the handsome and talented waiter - think his name began with F .. :)

What a poor excuse for a take away. I realise that things have changed because of the current restrictions but the fact they haven't adapted to them is poor. You can only place an order my phone, which if you live 8 miles away and don't have a menu and there's no menu online because they dont have a Web page makes it difficult. When I did turn up was turned away and told to ring in an order for availability nearly 3hrs later. Won't go back and not worth its current star rating.

we were there for a 'late' xmas dinner - previously we had to postpone it due to colds etc ... we were welcomed like long lost friends and had an excellent meal (as always) - food was hot/delicious/spicy and one of our party is allergic to chilli so she was looked after as a 'special' ..... great service / great food - cannot fault it

we went here for Sunday lunch and loved every dish. Although it's called Thai it really is Malaysian. The dishes were interesting and freshly prepared and the service very friendly.I definitely recommend it and we ill be back.
