We would have eaten there, we use natraj romsey every weekend, thought try a new place for once went here asked as per normal poppadoms and chutney, untill he he stated price, natraj 2.60, friends just under 7 quid, stated this he was not interested to him it was about money in till, google price if u want, natraj romsey by aldi amasing and u dont get ripped off, would have loved to try there curry, but we wont be taken for a ride like he wanted to.

This place really is good. Have been many many times. Staff are great, food is tip Top, prices are good. What's not to like......

Delicious fresh food. Portions were a good size & nicely spiced. It's not cheap but for the quality of the dishes & portion size well worth the money. Staff were attentive & friendly but also not hanging over you or rushing you. The ambience is relaxing & I would highly recommend this place. I looking forward to going back again when I'm in the area.

Love this place, the atmosphere and the food.

Lovely mixed grill with a great vindaloo sauce (nice and spicy). However, the mixed grill was a bit smaller than I am used to. The question is, would I go there again! YES I would.

Been here before to dine and food was exceptional. A little spicy but that was my fault ordering one of the hottest dishes on the menu and this is true Indian cuisine. Ordered a takeaway last night and always have reservations that the food will be of the same quality as a dine in. Food was again exceptional therefore will certainly be visiting again. I travel to India a lot through business and this food is equal to or above the true Indian cuisine I have experienced. A true gem in Bishops Waltham and at a reasonable price.

Just had a take away as we have before and the food was nowhere near as good as our previous experience.

This really is the best Indian Restaurant! The food is amazing whenever we go & last night was no exception. The staff are friendly, The restaurant itself is in a beautiful listed building & the food is always excellent.

One of the best curries I’ve had! The nan bread was outstanding as was the rest of the meal. Couldn’t fault the service and great value.

Both curries we ordered were far too sweet. Good size, prompt service, and packed with flavour and ingredients. Unfortunately they were far too sweet for us, even too sweet for a dessert! If you like a lot of sugar in a curry maybe give it a try.

Not my first review of this place (probably not my last either) but I always have such a nice time, I wanted to do another review just as a way of saying thank you! We came in on a Monday night so not the busiest night of the week, but the service and food was still exceptional. I had chicken tikka bhuna and keema rice and it was delicious (as always), fresh, and so full of flavour. The chicken tikka is always incredible, so succulent and tender, up there with the best I’ve had. Tried saag bhaji as a side and maybe a new favourite. So, once again, 10/10, thank you!!

Lamb curry was not nice. Lamb was chewy not tender. Vegetarian dishes were nice. Particularly the chic pea side dish. But left underwhelmed with the lamb curry

You can’t beat a good curry and “Friends” always delivers. All of the staff are friendly and very helpful in all matters. I like a bit of heat so normally go for the Naga chicken. Love it every time!!!! Consistently excellent is all you can ask for

Visiting UK from Canada on a long winded "pub crawl". Ended up in Bishops Waltham and needed a curry. The food was outstanding, service was excellent. Would highly recommend if you like pukka curry!

Amazing food but less of the salesman tactic would be great! We regularly get takeaways from friends and absolutely love the food. A group of us friends decided to go for some food and once again I cannot fault the food. The prices are much more than takeaway prices which is fine but just to pre warn people. The guys working are lovely but every single thing we ordered we felt pressured into more. ‘One poppadom each please’ then comments about pushing us to have 2. Straight to mains, felt pushed to order sides! I totally get these are tough times and they want to make money but it just felt a bit awkward and unnecessary. We love your food so will be back but please ease off. You aren’t estate agents !!

The best curry I have ever had… it was the egg rice that had sweet onion and fresh coriander that just tasted amazing with the very tasty Pasanda. I cook allot of curry so my expectations are high. They did something special to make the curry taste fresh and refined.

Had a wonderful meal tonight with my husband. We had starters and mains and every bite was delicious! The flavours were divine and meat beautifully tender - Really good quality food. You couldn't fault the service and the place was immaculately clean. Tables were laid lovely and we loved the dim lights and relaxed vibe. Not rushed at all and very pleasant evening. Kept noticing lovely little features like the glittery walls or velvet wallpaper and sparly light bulbs. Will definitely be back. Recommended this restaurant 100%. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

We went with our family to celebrate my husband birthday, there were ten of us ranging in age 6- 74 a d they were brilliant, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The menu has a range of traditional dishes and some fabulous new dishes,such as lamb shanks cooked in a slightly spicy sauce,there are also dishes that are not too spicy,so some thing to suit all tastes.

This was excellent Indian food. My wife and I were travelling from Australia and were keen for a good curry while in the UK and Friends did not disappoint. We were both so full but kept eating as we did not want to waste any of our meal. Will definitely come back here if we are in the area!

Superb food and good service. Best Indian food I have experienced. Eaten here twice and on both occasions the food has been of a very high standard.

First visit was last Saturday. Food was spot on. Lovely tasty starters. Main, chicken tikka Dhansk Tasty, tender, and full of fresh herbs .. with spiced mushroom rice. Nicely cooked naan. Husband had chicken tikka Madras super spiced and tender. So nice we came back this week with 2 of our grandchildren 12 and 10. Started with some papadoms and chutneys.. kids had lamb Korma and a lamb Bhuna. With coconut rice. Both said was best curry they'd ever had and gave it 10/10. We shared some onion bhajis with the main. And 2 naan I tried the Patia this week, (my favourite) once again spot-on. Husband has same. We all cleared our plates.. well worth the drive from Southsea. Will definitely be visiting regularly.. Well done to all the staff!!

Went to this lovely Indian restaurant today as away for weekend. Best curry we've ever had. Staff very attentive, brilliant service and definately yummy food. A must for a gorgeous place to eat and sample their wonderful spices in their food. I had chicken dhansak, husband had chicken madras. What a great find. You really must go x💜

Once again enjoyed a meal at this Indian restaurant. The reference to "refined" cuisine is well deserved as little touches at the table put this dining experience above the rest.

Six of us visited on a Saturday night; we booked at short-notice but the staff made sure we could be accommodated which was very good of them. I usually get takeaways from Friends and the food is always amazing but some friends wanted to go out for a curry so we decided to come here for dinner. I always get a nice welcome when I pick up a takeaway and it was no different coming in for a meal; the staff are all super friendly and attentive. The food - as usual - was absolutely delicious, all cooked to perfection. I always have the chicken tikka masala from Friends even though it might be considered boring, just because it's so, so good here. My friends ordered different dishes, including vegetarian/vegan dishes, and they all really enjoyed their food, and they said it was all delicious. We were in the restaurant for a long time, chatting and catching up, but not once did we ever feel rushed, or like they wanted us to leave. The friendly service, amazing food, and relaxed atmosphere all meant we had an absolutely lovely evening. Thank you!

Amazing food. Chicken melts your mouth. Dhanska perfect blends of spices. My wife has her favourite, chicken korma with pineapple, nice and rich creamy sauce. Naans are kk. Sag aloo, I could eat this all day and night. Good service. Not cheap not super expensive and worth the rest every now and then.

We booked for 7pm on a Friday evening, and apart from one other diner who arrived a little later, the restaurant had no other diners by the time we left two hours later (the take-away service, however, seemed very busy). This is surprising because the food and service were absolutely superb and reasonable value. The lamb shank and king prawn passanda were delicious, and the peshwari naan was good too - not too sweet, and I like that they cut it into pieces which makes it more hygienic to share. Our only criticism is that they don't have draught beer, and worse still, they only serve small bottles of Cobra (please serve big bottles in pint glasses!). Nevertheless, we really enjoyed our meal and will go back.

We were lucky enough to chat with the manager who told us about the history and origins of the restaurant and the food- have a chat too and find out for yourself! You’d expect all the above from most restaurants. But the food at friends is exceptional. We had the mixed meat starter and the spicing was extraordinary – like being in India itself. So many different spices and flavourings perfectly blended, such that it all blends together but during the eating you can taste the spices individually breaking through on your palate. So fresh and so high quality. I only wish I hadn’t eaten the whole day so as to make the most of this feast- luckily they were so kind and friendly any scraps I was not able to consume were carefully packed up for me to to thoroughly enjoy the next day. A wonderful experience – I cannot speak highly enough of.

The service received here was flawless as they’re the perfect level of attentiveness and provide you will top notch recommendations, when you’re struggling due to all the choices. This has to be one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve ever eaten at. They have a massive amount of choice on their menu and cater highly for vegetarians for nearly all of their dishes. They even can even rustle you up with food that isn’t on their menus, if you’re a connoisseur of their particular cuisine. Wouldn’t go anywhere else for dinner in Bishops Waltham.
