It's the 2nd time we have been here. It's ok. We normally go to another Indian, but it's a drive away, and we thought we would go local.
Can't complain about the staff, very friendly and helpful.
The food was a bit bland, and my lamb was fatty and chewy.
We ordered a bottle of wine, a sauvignon blanc. When it came, it was one of those cheap I heart wines, not what was on the menu card. Bit cheeky, especially as they charged nearly £20 for it, and I'm not sure entirely legal.
Sorry, but I won't be rushing back.
First time of using this business. I’d read good reviews and decided to try this place and was not disappointed. I had a small mixed doner snd kofte kebab my partner just had an ordinary doner. Honestly it was succulent and lovely.really well chargrilled and so much food, one small kebab could easily have fed two of us. Very reasonably priced especially for the amount and quality. If this business can turn out food of this quality at this price then why can’t everyone!? Will definitely be using this place again and again
Ever wondered what it’s like to pay restaurant prices for food that tastes like it came in a plastic bag? Wonder no more—China Garden has you covered.
From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a décor that screams “1994 called and it wants its wallpaper back.” The atmosphere is so flat, I half expected to hear tumbleweeds roll by. As for the staff, let’s just say if charm were currency, they’d be bankrupt. It’s less “dining experience” and more “grumpy food handover.”
The food? Spectacularly mediocre. Imagine your usual Friday night takeaway… now double the price, halve the flavour, and serve it at warp speed. Blink and you’ll miss your meal—and any chance of enjoying a relaxed evening. Although, with the vibe inside, maybe fast is merciful.
To be clear, this isn’t a restaurant. It’s a Chinese takeaway with seating—if you’re into disappointment with a side of soy sauce.
And just when you think it’s over, the bill arrives, helpfully reminding you that service charges aren’t included (don’t worry, we noticed). Decline to tip and brace yourself—you might just get escorted out with the kind of attitude that makes you wonder if you’re on a hidden camera show.
In short: save your money, your tastebuds, and your dignity. There are plenty of places that actually want your business
Beer.... Real ale 😍
Food 1st class and nice size portions with no fancy drizzle bits and very tasty.
We sat outside in the rear garden with the kids .. lovely ...M27 is a bit noisy but fine.
Would we go back.... Yeah I think we will :))
Absolutely appalling experience. My partner and I visited in advance to arrange a gathering of 15–30 people, as he was running 50km for charity and we planned to celebrate with friends and supporters afterward. The staff assured us that, while they don’t take bookings for groups that size, we were welcome to show up on the day. We later received a call from a member of staff who said that if the weather was good, space might be limited, but they would do their best to accommodate us.
What actually happened was incredibly disappointing. After my partner completed his charity run, we arrived with our group, only to be met by an aggressively rude man who treated us appallingly. There was space available indoors, and we were initially told we could sit there, only to be told moments later that we weren’t even allowed to have a single drink before being pushed out to the car park. After making the effort to communicate clearly and in good faith—twice—this treatment was nothing short of shocking.
As locals who have visited many times, we were shocked and deeply disappointed to be treated with such hostility. We will be warning others to steer clear of this place.

Thank you for your response. However, we would like to clarify a few points.
When we initially reached out, we inquired about booking a space and were informed that reservations were not accepted. At no time were we told that we would be unable to attend if we arrived on the day. In fact, during our first conversation, we were assured that we would be more than welcome to come along. On a subsequent call, we were advised that it might be challenging to find space if the outdoor area was busy, but again, we were reassured that we would still be welcomed and accommodated as best as possible.
Had we been informed—or even given the impression—that we might not be able to attend, we would have made alternative arrangements, especially considering we contacted you two to three weeks in advance. We were willing to sit indoors, but were shortly after told we had to leave.
There was clearly a serious miscommunication among your staff.
