Great spot for breakfast, found by my wife when searching for one, and was glad we came by as it’s also a monumental spot for tourists in Oxford 👍🏻 The outdoor seats were cosy and had good views of the peaceful surroundings. The queue to get the food was rather long, having been seated outside for 20 minutes before my wife and her friend came out with coffee and a tag for our food to be delivered to us (which wasn’t long). 🍞 bread was good, we enjoyed that small plate of goodness with the largest baked beans we ever seen - though omelette was slightly over salted Scones were alright, a little too easy to break and hence wasn’t my favourite, there’s also not much flavour to it too. A great spot for breakfast for sure, before taking the flights up the church for the views or just entering the serenity of the church 👍🏻

What a cracker of a place. There are interesting lunch options like goat cheese soufflé (which is really more of a frittata) with plenty of veggies. Huge loose-leaf tea selection, coffees as you'd expect, the house white wine is perfectly drinkable. Just grab a tray and ask for what you want. Love the vaulted ceiling, but the outside tables have great views of the Radcliffe Camera. Toilets are upstairs.

Had read the reviews on the Cafe and thought it looked promising but we were to be disappointed. We visited for Breakfast and did like the premises with its vaulted ceilings and historic ambience. However, the Food was disappointing. An uninspiring Croissant and the Full English for me which was just okay but nothing more. The main issue is that the whole place is in need of a major refurb, including the toilets which have seen much better days. There also appears to be all sorts of supplies piled up in odd spaces, needs a reorganisation. Could be great with some investment and TLC.

I have been here a couple of times now so this is balanced feedback. Avoid weekends and busy times as this places loses all its charm unless you find a table outside. Its too noisy, service levels are less than desirable. Although i must state that the owner (i think he is) was very kind when i complained to him this weekend and made sure i was served right away. If you go at less busy times , you will enjoy the place, be bale to enjoy a conversation inside if you want. Food is always good although i think the portions have reduced.

Incredible cafe with a beautiful view of the Radcliffe Camera. The vaulted ceiling of the cafe interior speaks to the old time charm of its 1320s building. Spacious place but gets full very easily because of its prime location. Good selection of cafe fare and friendly staff. Right next to the tower where you can get iconic views of the amazing city.

The Vaults & Garden in Oxford was recommended to us and it really does what it says on the tin. Visited mainly by locals, it is an authentic place off the typical tourist trail. The food is excellent – typically British, but there are also vegan and vegetarian options. It has a slight cafeteria charm when you enter, but the authenticity and over-the-top charm quickly make up for it. An absolute top address not to be missed in Oxford!

Scone was delicious and their coffee is also very good. The ambiance is very nice, especially if the weather is nice, you feel like you are in the 1800s while sitting in the garden. However, I think it may be because of the overcrowding that you have to wait a little while while ordering. I originally wanted to drink homemade wine, and after my order was taken and I waited for 10 minutes, I was told that unfortunately there was no more left. Other than that, it's a very beautiful place.

Consiglio l'Oxford cheese rarebit!

I ate at the Vaults & Garden three or four times during my week in Oxford, everything from breakfast to lunch to coffee to dessert. Nestled at the foot of the University Church of St. Mary the Virgin on the north side near the Radcliffe Camera, it offers a peaceful, inexpensive, casual alternative to pub life. You walk inside to order from their wide range of foods (meals, snacks, desserts) and beverages (cold and hot). You can sit inside or outside. It's peaceful and communal and an integral part of any visit to the adjacent church (who benefits financially from this privately owned restaurant). If you're an Inspector Lewis fan, you'll recognize the interior and the exterior as film locations.

Visited today (Saturday), Got there early for scrambled eggs on toast for breakfast. Not particularly busy but waited a long time for this simple meal. The lady in the queue after me went to see where her meal had got to, she was having just toast. The sourdough bread was warmed - it was a long way from toasted. Only one slice too which I though was mean given it was 3 eggs scrambled. Historic and architecturally significant atmosphere but a huge disappointment with the food.

Lovely little nook in the basement of an old church. One of the coolest places in Oxford location-wise to have a meal. Food is tasty and reasonably priced. I’ve enjoyed the carrot and red lentil soup, vegan Oxford breakfast, and fruit scone. Given that the vegan breakfast is the same price as the non vegan one and has food taken out (e.g., eggs, sausage), I felt like it could have included more of the beans and veggies. My portion of beans was just a handful of beans. But flavor wise it was delicious. Especially the bread! Their homemade scone was also fantastic. Drink-wise I tried their teas and chai latte and did not find them great. Service is friendly but unhurried. Prepare to wait to order, and if you’re in a hurry, avoid lunch, especially around noon.

Disappointed. Is what comes to mind. We waited 1h 30 minutes for a food. Was this place ram packed? Was our food order complicated? Was there a crisis in the kitchen? No. What was a perfectly simple and small food order in a quiet bar turned into an epic wait. This is honestly so disappointing as the food is perfectly nice and the bar staff even nicer. To add injury to insult when the wings came out they were stone cold, we had to ask for them to be redone. They came out a second time barely warm. The lovely bar staff offered us free drinks to makeup up for the evenings events but I fear it was not enough to sweeten such a sour experience. So I’ll say it once more I’m disappointed how an establishment with amazing beer and nice food can mess it up so badly.
