Very characteristic place, I recommend going there if you are in Ofxord. They didn't have much choice of dishes but it was still all good, I recommend making a reservation.

What a stunning establishment tucked away down winding alleys off the road next to the Bridge of Sighs. I've never seen such a unique pub. I'm 5" 8' and almost had to duck to come through the door. Great selection of ales on offer and although we didn't eat here, the food looked tremendous. I would highly recommend coming here even if it's only for a quick beer. There's a wonderful beer garden/terrace too.

My favorite pub for a pint in Oxford. This historic pub is supposedly where former US president Bill Clinton “did not inhale” while smoking marijuana during his times as a Rhodes Scholar at historic Oxford University. The bar has a chalk board commemorating the famous occurrence. This centuries old pub is popular with both locals and tourists alike. It was pretty packed during my visit, but I was able to find seating. I didn’t eat, but enjoyed a tasty IPA among their nice selection of draft beers.

Recently moved to oxford and was recommended to come here. Absolutely loved it. Have to travel down a funny little corridor but the vide and the place is absolutely amazing.

The Turf Tavern is a really interesting place to visit with its rich history. However, the food was a bit basic. We were quite hungry and expected to enjoy the meal more, but it ended up being a little plain. On the bright side, the service was excellent, and the overall atmosphere was enjoyable. It’s a nice spot to visit, though the food could use a bit more flavor.

If Oxford, then Turf Tavern… Classic place, divine beers and the best Steak and Ale Pie! Many films were shot here (HP, Morse, Endeavour...) there are also many memories on the walls...

Popped into this hidden charm for a lovely meal with my husband. The food on offer was all soo tasty sounding! But we ended up going for some of the specials menu! Will have to visit again to try all of their amazing food!

I treated my mother to lunch last Sunday afternoon. The staff were very friendly and found us a lovely table inside. Roast dinner was amazing, with a cheeky pot of mac and cheese on the side. Beautiful area, would go again!!!!!!!

Obviously, the place is of huge historical significance. We had a pub lunch and it was very mediocre. I’m guessing long life ciabatta etc. Wouldn’t recommend eating here sadly

This was a cute little pub! Hidden away in a side street, this pub is a great gem. Loads of indoor and outdoor seating and the interior is super cute and cosy. Food was good and decent price too. Loved the mac and cheese! I’d definitely return.

Cozy and atmospheric old pub, well worth a visit. However, if coming again, I would only order drinks rather than food. My Sunday roast was expensive but mediocre (dry chicken, damp Yorkshire pudding, huge chunks of undercooked carrot and soggy tasteless cabbage).

Stumbled upon this place during a lunch break during the conference at the Sheldonian. It’s a very old looking pub with plenty of seating options inside and outside. Plenty of great beer on tap and the food was excellent. We shared the fish and chips and a burger. Atmosphere was perfect.

Our son recommended the Turf Tavern. So we went down this alley which we would normally not do as older people. To our surprise we found this different type of pub. Great atmosphere, food and service. It was busy but the food came out quickly and was delicious. So if you want to experience something different but fantastic go to the Turf Tavern.

Food was delicious and the service was quick on a weekday afternoon. Portion for fish&chips was big. Enjoyed trying butterbeer for the first time! All the beers we ordered were delicious after a day of tours in Oxford.

Great shop, I ate the veggie burger there and it was pretty tasty. The atmosphere is good and there is always something going on. It's best to order via the app, which can save you waiting in long queues.

Been about a year but someone reminded me of this place. Beautiful, atmospheric almost. Awful service and vibes. Partner went to the bar to order, waited, and waited. Then got rudely told there was a queue system (the mark of every terrible pub), around the other side of the bar, away from the snug, to join the back and wait her turn. Just the most pig ignorant attitude and pure lack of class to soil such an historic pub with a damn queue system. It’s Oxford so there’s plenty of options. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere. In response to the Turf’s reply, it is always a good indication of how terrible a service a pub offers if they enforce a queuing system as it shows that they can’t actually run a bar. See the fact we didn’t,after all the faff, get served any food, drinks or even a hint of hospitality. Oh, and thought it was overkill to mention, but as you refer to the app, it was down the day we visited. Swing and a miss I guess xox

Fair prices for drinks. We came here because it was touted as a not-to-be-missed when in Oxford. Food was okay, the mash potato in the Bangers and Mash was incredibly thick. Prices were again, okay but on the higher end for pub-food. The wait for the bar was a little bit excruciating. Especially when it was nearing the time for the kitchen to close. Some most drinks were also not available to order on the app, hence we had to order at the bar. (E.g., Hazy Lager, Butterbeer, some other ales) I was in line for about 10 minutes before I was 2nd in line where staff asked me very politely if I minded if some customers behind me were served first to ensure their food orders were put in before the kitchen closed (as i was only ordering drinks). It's hard to decline when three parties behind you in the queue are waiting for you to answer, without sounding like an (censored). Luckily, another staff member took my drink order. While I'm sure staff were doing their best for all customers, this left me rather annoyed having patiently waited in line for drinks since there was only 1 till. Not worth the hype in our experience unfortunately. Better food and drinks available in other areas in Oxford, I suppose unfortunately if you become popular, the top-notch service and food as advertised falters. Pea soup was the highlight, very yummy. Butterbeer was almost room temperature and extremely underwhelming.

Salt & Pepper Squid was quite meager, but the drinks and ambiance are excellent. Recommend using the app instead of standing in the queue.

Absolutely disappointed. Burgers came out ice cold. And I paid £24 for a Pimm’s pitcher. They filled two-thirds of the pitcher with ice. And then had the audacity to provide me with four glasses, despite only being able to fill two of them.

Nice place...bigger than it looks, good service and prices (two pints 13&) a little more expensive, I don't think about the food since we didn't eat there, it seems to be from a typical chain here, attention that From 12 onwards it fills up fast.

We ate light things and like it. Only steak sandwich had the meat was sinewy. The menu might be a little wider. But the place it so big that you can find any type of indoor or outdoor table for yourself

Went there for graduation celebration, the manager on duty Reece, went above and beyond to accommodate the large quantity of drinks and food ordered. All staff were very lovely and checked on us and even gave their congratulations. The food came out together, was a good pub meal as you’d expect. Good atmosphere in the pub too - would recommend a visit for a drink or for some food! Thank you again

It’s a pretty nice old spot with good drinks but the food is unfortunately only very average. The sandwich was dry, the onion rings too greasy and the salad took some getting used to.

Sadly an awful experience having visited this historic pub on many occasions. There is a queuing system at the bar. Two separate people 'pushed in' ahead of the two guys waiting in front of me. I quietly and calmly pointed this out to the barman who reacted by being rude, unpleasant and aggressive. We took our business elsewhere and thoroughly enjoyed the rest of our evening in the Kings Arms, exceptional, and the lamb & flag - always good. The barman had absolutely no excuse. The bar was not that busy and he had had plenty of time while serving to see who had been there for quite a while and who had just arrived.

Locale con ingresso in un vicoletto proprio vicino al Ponte dei Sospiri. Storico, con presenza nel tempo di personaggi famosi, alcuni dei quali annotati in una delle insegne. E' un locale particolare: oltre a varie sale interne offre anche tavoli esterni, in un groviglio di spazi e angoletti che ti fanno perdere facilmente l'orientamento. Un paio di sere ci siamo fermati solo per bere birra e cidro per via delle tante persone in attesa di un tavolo. L'ultima sera della nostra permanenza a Oxford ci siamo impegnati a fare la fila: siam capitati nel "famoso" tavolo inclinato per via del dislivello. Sarà per l'atmosfera, sarà per la particolarità del locale, sarà perchè veramente buono, a noi il cibo è piaciuto tutto, dalle alette di pollo al fish and chips, alla pie. Piatti abbondanti, servizio veloce e preciso, birra e cidro spillati alla perfezione. Bellissima conclusione di vacanza! Peccato non aver potuto salutare il simpaticissimo e professionale cameriere italiano, di Milano se non ricordo male, col quale abbiamo intrattenuto qualche battuta: l'abbiamo cercato ma era probabilmente impegnato vista la presenza dei tantissimi ospiti. Lo salutiamo e lo ringraziamo qui. Consiglio vivamente il locale, vale la fila.
