We are regular customers of Maxim and always return for their tasty filling pizzas, we also tried the fried chicken that was recommended and is new on the menu. We are never disappointed and this time was no different, and always receive friendly fast service. Thanks so much

Absolute disgusting management tried to give us cold food when we asked for replacement threw money at us and became very aggressive never go back again

Utterly appalling. I was originally a customer of Maxim's for 5 odd years some twenty five years ago when I was clubbing around the town every weekend. After 13 years abroad I came back to Soton, and Maxim's in Dec 2019. Despite Covid, they remained open throughout and I - living 50 meters from them - ate there 3 times a week. I still have been for the past two years, albeit going down to once or twice a week as the service and food quality has gone downhill rapidly... They basically stopped caring - and started penny pinching. First the red cabbage went. It was too expensive apparently, then portions got smaller... The chilli peppers changed to a less tasty brand and you'd get 3 instead of the usual 4 or 5. Worse still, I'd have to run home with my kebab as fast as possible to pull the salad off the meat, and scrape the chilli sauce off quick to one side - because both were kept in the fridge and would turn the kebab stone could in under 2 minutes. I put up with all this because the lady was always polite and knew my 'usual order', and as I said, it was just next door... Well tonight that all changed. I went in for a pizza tonight. £8 spent which is £2 less than normal as I didn't feel like the extra cheese and kebab meat on top. The pizza was finished and taller man was working... Maybe the owner... I'm not sure. I rarely see him as I'm normally in earlier and dealing with the lady or the shorter guy who sits outside smoking all the time. He asked if I wanted any sauce or salad. I said 'just some chilli peppers please'. I always love a few chilli peppers with the pizza. No need he said after a pause it's already got chilli's on. Sure I replied, but I'd like some chilli peppers please. No he said. Just 3? I said... Please? No he said for the third time and he closed the lid and pushed the box toward me. We are both looking each other straight in the eyes now. I asked 'Because of the expense?' Yes he replied... I said I've been eating here 2, 3 times a week for the past 2 years! No he said again and at this point my blood was boiling. Living next door I never took cutlery, nor napkins, saving him a lot over the past couple years... And he was begrudging me a couple of peppers. I took the pizza and turned to leave... At which point I lost it. I turned back and shouted "I've been a loyal customer for 2 years you XXXXXXX and I will NEVER come back"... At this point the lady has come out and is asking him what on earth he's doing - to which he exclaimed "You didn't let me finish"... Oh I did mate... You shut the box lid and pushed it toward me before giving me a fourth 'no'. I walked out and told them I hope they lose the business as I did so. Because they deserve to. Utterly appalling way to treat the people that kept them going during lockdown, who went to the ATM for the entirety of lockdown because 'the PDQ machine doesn't work during lockdown'... and suffered all the other nonsense. For the 13 or 14 minutes I sat in there tonight - at 6:30pm - not a soul entered, and I am not surprised. Rest In Peace Maxim's... A once amazing place driven into the ground by greed and stinginess. Get him gone and you may just revive that business - but with the lack of care shown these days I doubt it. And for the record - the pizza was utter rubbish too - not that I had an appetite after that. Thanks for nothing.

Visit today order chicken burger but he gave us beef burger expensive. Staff member wasn’t listening. Don’t wanna visit that shop again 👎.

I had a nice mixed kebab here on 10th September 2019, although primarily a take away there are plenty of seats to eat in. My food was brought on a plate with a knife and fork and well presented. Menu was reasonably priced and varied, Isaw fajitas on the menu too, will try them next time.

I enjoyed the chicken wrap and salad.they have lunch deals that are goodd value. Not spectacular but good, id eat there again.

We went at 3.30am, the normal time to visit. Ordered the falafel and hummus pitta, but it came without the hummus. When I complained they simply said they had ran out. Not told in advance or offered a reduction in price. They forgot to give us our drinks-- something I imagine they may do a lot. You get what you pay for, or less, at this place.

We finished our night on the town in maxim Pizza and a Kebab for the walk back to the hotel. Not a big shop there is some seating so you can eat in. The staff are friendly and polite (not like the ones near me) And the food is excellent. Next time I'm in Southampton I will be returning.

Apart from the weird, super-thin really sweet ketchup they use the food was very nice

Was really nice came early the only thing I was annoyed about was I ordered 4 pepsis and only received 1 but other than that was spot on

The only problem I had was the cheesy chips, the chips were soggy and there was barely any cheese on them, Chicken burger is absolutely amazing

Food always meets requirements

Lamb meat was dry like Sahara Desert and before i could collect i had to wait 5 minutes for the guy behind the counter to finish his telephone conference!

Brought two kebabs and Collection time was later than stated, didn't get two of the things I ordered on the kebab, and was cold when got it.

Coleslaw was just red onian and mayo was not coleslaw went to the bin

Cheesy chips.... where was the cheese? Next to no cheese on the chips. The chips themselves were horrible too. Over cooked and hard, like they had been reheated. Worst 'cheesy' chips I've ever had.

Couldn't find my address so delivery was late but they were very apologetic and nice. Food was disappointing though meat was burnt and hard and chips had hardly any cheese on them and were soggy. Wouldn't order again.

Food was ok....ordered a kebab and chips as a deal but got some donner meat on chips.....no pitta etc.... partner had a burger the bun was so wet its slid off the burger and was inedible

This was definitely the worst takeaway I have ever had in my life. I asked for a kebab wrap meal. All they did was put doner meat on some Pitta bread!!!!! Sort it out

Overall was good. Mixed kebab was nice but a cold. Would get this again. Garlic bread with cheese bread tasted stale burnt on bottom would stay away from it next time I order.

NEVER EVER ORDER FROM THIS PLACE. speed was mediocre, food bland, guy forgot the drink, tried to bribe me to place a 100% review with free food next time. Then about 20 minutes after he brings the drink back, comes banging and ringing on the doorbell accusing me of stealing his phone. Absolutely crazy. Never again.

Get food from here occasionally. Veggie burger is always good. Bun is fresh and the salad is crisp.

Food came faster than the expected delivery time with the quality still being high, ordered from Maxim many times and will continue to do so in the future. 5 stars.
