We booked here to celebrate a family birthday. Staff seemed disorganised, Food was OK. The bill was presented to us after our mains, we hadn’t asked for it and no one asked if we wanted deserts. It was a Saturday night so very busy and noisy, with large parties. Seemed like they wanted us to leave as there were people waiting for tables

Food was lovely, service was great and the whole place had a really nice vibe, despite us being there on a Monday!

Superb find at Southampton's most attractive spot, Ocean Village. Such friendly and helpful 5* service from our waitress (I think her name was Siranya - apologies if wrongly spelt). My friend and I only felt like burger and chips (not cheap but price commensurate with the location) and - without exaggeration - the blue cheese and portabello mushroom burger was the most excellent we have EVER tasted and superbly presented. This place is a 'must' in Southampton.

I visited here with recently for a meal to celebrate my father in laws birthday. There were 9 of us in total, including my 5 year old. First of, the setting of this restaurant is fantastic and I’ll go here for drinks just to look over the marina. One of the waitresses was amazing, unfortunately I didn’t get her name but she was very funny and a great asset to the restaurant. We arrived for our 6.30pm reservation and ordered our drinks. They took near on 30 minutes before we were giving another tables order, mistakes happen but ours weren’t brought over for an additional 10 minutes after this. We ordered our food not long after we arrived and didn’t get this until 8pm. We were left wondering if the restaurant were very understaffed as all staff were always looking busy and rushed but the service was extremely slow. I ordered the hallumi fajitas which tasted amazing, one of the best hallumi dishes I’ve had but I was gutted that it was warm at best. The waiting times were just too long for a subpar meal and drinks.

Weather allowed for sitting outside on a balmy September Saturday, overlooing the marina with a nice, cold, tasty beer or two. The place was very busy on account of Southampton playing at home, but home and away fans were laughing, drinking and mingling together to create a wonderful atmosphere. Once they emptied out, there was still music playing, sport on the TV and a really relaxed vibe. Service was exceptional, a well-sized team never stopping catering for the needs of diners and drinkers. Service was swift and done with a smile - one young lass in particular just had the most gorgeous of smiles. The food was outstanding, absolutely top notch - hot, freshly cooked and full of flavour. I would quite happily have eaten my main and dessert again straight away. Cost reflected the quality and prices were in line with surrounding eateries. We stayed for a couple of hours and every moment of it was spot on. I will definitely head back next time I am down that way. Exceptional.

Not great service this morning Slow and I asked for water twice and didn’t receive it. And then to see that a discretionary service amount had been added to the bill is not great The manager seemed grumpy so my wife didn’t feel like she wanted to say anything.

Went here for lunch with the family, staff were friendly but service was shocking. Ordered our meals and a drink and then sat for over an hour waiting to be served. Food was ok when it eventually arrived but certainly not worth the very expensive prices

Went for a brekkie. Asked for a Mimosa. They don't do it but they rustled up fizz and juice for a home made one. I had the baby banana brekkie. One of each in a small fry up. Sausage, bacon, egg, mushroom. Yuuum. Service was excellent too. Ladies very helpful and polite (and I'm very fussy about good service!)

Lovely couple of hours spent here today. The bar staff and waitresses were lovely. Willow was especially impressive both in her personality towards adults and her friendliness to our furry friends. I would have given it 5 stars if we hadn't encountered the surly frenchman

We ordered our food and waited 1 hour and 40 mins and still no mains, I had enough and complained about the wait and they never even put our mains order through (we got starters after 20 mins but they forgot about our main). They said sorry and offered me a free drink so I asked for just a coke and it never even came. They offered 10% off our bill, but instead ADDED 10% by mistake so if we hadn't noticed, we would've been charged more for this service. Finally, one of us has a gluten allergy and so we explained this and only ordered her gluten free food, and yet at the end of the day, she had an incredibly upset stomach only caused by consuming gluten. In the end, the food sucked and cost way more than a bunch of other restaurants that serve better food with better service. Shame as well because the atmosphere and location are amazing, very disappointed.

We held a team dinner here for 15 people. We had to pre-order, which was not a problem. When we arrived we received a warm welcome and shown to our table. For those who had not got their own drinks from the bar; the staff sorted that out pretty quick. Food arrived in good time and received lots of good feedback from our group. The staff checked in now and again, took additional drinks orders. All in all a very nice dinner in a nice environment.

Ordered the fajita steak, my partner had the Arrabiata, and we shared some honey, sesame and lime wings. Firstly, the Fajita was honestly bland and horrendous! The presentation looks great, but even with the condiments, the flavour profile was all wrong! Firstly the steak tasted like cardboard! You get the smell of the paprika but no taste! No taste of salt of black pepper even!! Its a shame! The salsa tastes like it was just taken out from a ready made packet! Honestly tastes worse than Doritos Salsa dips. The wings weren't my favourite but my partner like them. The Arrabiata was good thank God as its would be disastrous! The star of the night though was the service! Ksenia was amazing! When I expressed my concerns, I was still prepared to pay for all my meal but she immediately made me feel heard and took the plate away, took it off the bill and offered me to order something else! Honestly very attentive as well she was and amazing service! They do also serve generous portions! Just need to pick it up with the flavours.

Worst staff, I have every spoken, too. Very disappointing travelling to get breakfast, and they couldn't even do that.

At last, an excellent bacon roll. Although I was the only customer apart from a private party that was none of my business.

Ordered a pizza and waited an hour and a half for it. The staff apologized and said they were busy and forgot about our order. In the end, we got one free beer.

Friendly, welcoming staff! Service is always great! Have eaten a few times there and I can honestly say the food has always been delicious !! Love the salt and pepper squid which isn’t overly peppery like other places. Their special fish dish is always perfect 👍 and so is the garlic bread is the best!!

Really great food and service. My wife was in a wheelchair and our waitress was brilliant ! She found a quiet outside table, turned on the heater and gave us some blankets just incase. The food was excellent, some of the best nachos in the Uk !

The food at Banana Wharf is consistently delicious and their many vegan options at very fair prices, make me very happy!! Staff are amazing, lots of seating with views of the marina, and the food is ALWAYS good.

Visited today as had family from Devon staying. The staff went above and beyond and were so friendly, nothing was too much trouble. They’d clocked that my 6 year old had been given a gift and discretely asked if it was his birthday, they then brought out a lovely little pudding with a sparkler on top which was just so kind and generous! They also asked if it was okay to give him some sweets and brought out a massive bag of pick n mix which he was so chuffed with! It was just such a lovely experience from start to finish!

Eleven of us (ranging from 7 to 90) visited Banana Wharf on Saturday 6th July 2024 for a family Birthday Celebration. We cannot praise everyone enough for the excellent food and helpfulness and friendliness of your staff. We all thoroughly enjoyed our visit and hope to return again soon. Went to Banana Wharf to celebrate my cousin’s graduation. This was my first time in Southampton so I was curious to know what the restaurants were like here. We had to preorder the food a week in advance which is fine - we were a group of 10. However, when we arrived, I asked to get a little pot of olives for starters. The waitress rolled her eyes and walked away. This was just the beginning.Rude service all night, no smiles and ‘how are you doings’. Olives were good (but £5😫) When my carbonara came out, it was so covered in pepper that I couldn’t taste anything else, and the portion was monstrous. Don’t see the point in preordering if they’re going to produce so much food waste anyway. Garlic bread came out 10 minutes after mains were served, and although it was described as ‘cheesey’, it was basically a Lidl baguette with the absolutely minimum amount of cheese possible sprinkled on one or two slices. Drinks were delicious, but at £10 for a watered down, tiny cocktail, give them a miss. My mum woke up with awful stomach cramps so avoid the duck salad, too. Worst of all, the atmosphere was awful for someone that struggles with sensory overload like me. Bright lights, terrible acoustics that echoed everything. I could barely hear the person next to me. When I escaped to the washrooms for a moment to breathe, I was met with more bright lights and locked toilets. Would be curious to know if this is a chain. Overpriced for mid food and rude/rushed service. Avoid at all costs.

Banana Wharf is always incredible! The food, the staff and the atmosphere combined make this restaurant a 10/10. Recently, our bookings have consisted of 10+ people and the staff have been so accommodating every time, especially Ksenia and Dorota. They always assist in making birthdays very special. I can't thank them enough every time we go! I definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone who is thinking of going :)

Beautiful views of the harbour with the outdoor seating and the service is great. I’ve visited twice now and the food is excellent I highly recommend it especially the nachos and the banana colada cocktail a little pricey but worth it!

This place is okay for a beer after sailing around but not more. It’s big and a bit loud, not necessarily in a nice way. If might be good but just not for me maybe. For a beer 3/5, to eat and talk. no.

A really great place to eat & drink. Very welcoming and dog friendly with a great vibrant atmosphere and excellent food and the view overlooking the marina is a bonus.

Crowded, especially on weekends and during matches broadcast here. Tasty snack.

We had a poor table beside the blankets, plates and crepe maker, so that has influenced my review, although the restaurant wasn’t busy and we could have been given a nice table. It’s popular with young people and families with toddlers, so go if that’s what you like, as the fish and chips were great.

Lovely evening at banana wharf for my son's 18th the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were catered for. The food was amazing, cocktails went down a treat. Will definitely be back thank you to all the staff for making our evening enjoyable.

Just to say that Sunday 2nd June the place was heaving . Takethat were in town .The sun was shining . Despite how busy it was the staff and service were excellent . Had a lovely family meal for 16 then just as we finished a disaster . Huge power cut across Southampton shut everything down . Point of this review is just to say that despite very difficult circumstances the staff remained calm continued to serve drinks and try to sort peoples bills. Can’t of been easy and I hope they didn’t lose to much money . Most people seemed to accept the difficulty faced . Well done . Could have all gone pear shaped

BANANA WHARF Southampton on Saturday 1st June at 630pm . 3 people had fajitas one had chicken burger. Two of us our sick today . only difference is we both drank the water . I asked the waitress for a new jug and said it taste funny she laughter at me when I said is it filtered . No it’s not we don’t have time for that . I think the water was bad tasted chemicals or bitter after taste Two of my party drank it and feel so sick please report if any one else has this Thanks

Wife got a stomach bug after eating her meal, the restaurant passed it off saying it must of been something she ate the day before….. we will never return there again

We often come to Banana Wharf and always have a lovely meal. This evening was no exception, food was delicious and service was fantastic. Holly was our waitress and she was wonderful, very attentive, friendly and quick to assist us with any request. She is a credit to you, thank you for a great evening.

Outstanding food and cocktails. Service was amazing - such friendly and helpful staff. We both had Mac & Cheese Nduja Sausage main course which was absolutely delicious. The Garden Martini and Banana Colada cocktails were also stunning. Highly recommend this place!!

The mussels were good but the pork belly was bit to bland could had little more flavour in it

The service from the beginning was very slow, I went for dinner here with another person and had slow service throughout, the food took an hour and a half to arrive and it was the wrong order. The food was then bland and describing it as average would have been pushing it.

Popped in for brunch, a bit of confusion whether we wanted to eat or just a drink (we meant coffee but directed to the bar). So we decided we would eat. Decisions decisions. Anyway, once that was done, the service and food was excellent. We had tea, in the end, which was tasty but almost colourless (too posh for us?)

Went to Banana Wharf today for Easter Sunday lunch. We all had a roast and it was simply perfect. Food excellent, generous portion sizes and staff could not be more accommodating. Thank you from the five of us, we will be back.

We came in on a Sunday at around 5 pm. Had not booked. But got a table for 4 no problems. Friendly service and food tasted great. 2 adults and 2 children 10&11. All enjoyed it.

A really lovely place. We originally went to Maritimo lounge around the corner, but as we were ignored by most of the staff there until I asked someone to help us and then there was a ridiculously long wait for food, we walked out. (Don't bother going there) We walked around the corner and found 'Banana Wharf', as soon as we entered, we were greeted with a smile, seated quickly and our server introduced themselves. A small but perfect menu, our waiter was new and still learning but very professional, I had a question, she quickly found the answer. (I can't remember her name) The view is nice over the harbour. The food was perfect, the 'corporal jones' sausages are a must. A very clean and modern décor, toilets were fresh and well maintained. We will be back when we were next down.

Came with another reviewer on here on Saturday evening and it is obvious why this restaurant gets busy very quickly and remains that way all night. Service was prompt and courteous, and food served in a timely fashion. We were in a group of 20, all of which had pre-ordered to give the kitchen chance of serving us all at the same time, which they did! Fabulous choice of very generously sized portions. Everyone enjoyed the flavorsome dishes, the truffle burgers were as good as you can get. The pizza and truffle fries we had as starters, equally as nice. Everywhere was clean and well maintained and although busy did not feel crowded. Just a shame that we live so far away... but would certainly go again!

Its was my Daughter 18th birthday, we came week ago to book table for 20, all set up and booked , manager so so helpful, I can not express how we impressed with the food and drink and the service from the staff such as Marta and Ksiana and others , we loved it xx 10 of 10 , pizza was very delicious, Linguini seafood was amazing then Truffle blue cheese burgers was fab 👌 and don't forget the Truffle chips was yummy. Note: the meal was large so , if someone hungry, you will be satisfied more than enough unlike some Italian food get samples instead ...our friends and family came from London to celebrate with us in Banana Wharf restaurant, they came out happy customer 😋 ..

Arrived yesterday wanting a table for 2 at 6:45pm. The restaurant was not busy in the slightest and there was almost 20 tables free. The lady when we arrived totally ignored us and another lady came over to say they were fully booked? She then said we could have a table for 40 mins which I said was fine as we had another reservation to get to she then said no and said she can’t do it as they are full. I would not return or recommend.

Had fantastic New Year's Eve celebrations here. The food is lovely here - this was my second time of visiting - (no Rapeseed Oil thank goodness), the cocktails are brilliant, the service is always excellent 👌 and the atmosphere spot on. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience at a beautiful location and I shall be visiting again.

Visited for lunch - restaurant was light and bright. Food was good and busy enough to create a good atmosphere.

Been in here 3 times. First two times, service was shocking - slow, waitresses were arguing audibly amongst themselves, food came out cold, and generally treated like we were in the way and an inconvenience. Today I popped in for a quick breakfast before an appointment thinking I’d give it one more try, stood waiting to be seated and eventually a waitress came over and asked if she could help. Said I’d like a table, to which she looked at me very confused and said “we’re closed”. I looked around at the other people sat inside and she followed up with “this is a private event, we’re closed today.” No sign outside or on the door to indicate this might be the case, apparently I was just supposed to know. Won’t be coming back for another chance.

We had our work Christmas party. The food was nice. First time I had ravioli and it tasted great. Will come back again

Much as I appreciate the clear signage of the few gluten free and vegan options on their menu this is not a good restaurant if you have dietary requirements. The menu does offer a gluten free or vegan base on the pizzas but no one could answer my questions on if the sauces and toppings were suitable for any of the pizza combinations or if there would have to be other swaps to make them suitable. I wouldn't expect them to know off the top of their head but the server wasn't interested in finding out. So I had the steak, which was fine, but the server did try and tell me that it was cooked with butter. Butter is dairy not gluten. I would expect a restaurant worker to know the difference as a bare minimum.

Had a lovely time here. The staff were truly excellent in the restaurant. The food we ordered was also very nice.
