Quayside Wine Bar in Southampton

I recently dined at Quayside and had a wonderful experience. The food was absolutely delicious - the pizza, patatas bravas, and Greek salad were all fantastic. The potatoes bravas were crispy and flavorful, the pizza was perfectly cooked, and the Greek salad was fresh and satisfying. But the food wasn't the only highlight. The view over Southampton Water was simply stunning. It added a truly special ambiance to the meal. Overall, I can't recommend Quayside highly enough. Great food, beautiful view, and a perfect spot for a relaxing and enjoyable meal.

Vegetarian tapas options poor. All but one are spicy or come with a spicy sauce and the non spicy option ( Arancini) was bland.

Myself & my friend had roast yesterday, the whole experience was amazing, this was the best roast I have had, the staff were so friendly & professional & a lovely atmosphere. I would highly recommend this place & I will definitely be a regular diner! Absolutely fabulous

First time coming to the Quayside and what a wonderful experience. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. I ordered the steak which was cooked to perfection. The Night was fantastic and I really felt like I was looked after in every way. A big thankyou to the owner and staff 😊

Such a lovely bar, so friendly and right on our doorstep how lucky are we. And roast dinners are superb be sure to book they sell out quickly . Staff are always so welcoming and we enjoy our few hours there on a Friday evening with friends 🧡

Great service , amazing venue and staff

I just love it here! The atmosphere is calm, the servers are very attentive and the food is lovely, We went for a meal on Saturday and had the garlic prawns and a steak, both recommended. Can’t wait to get down here in the summer and sit in the sun outside.

What a fab find!!!! We had seen this place on instagram and sunday roasts looked amazing and they definitely didn’t disappoint!! One of the nicest roasts we’ve had out in ages, the food and service was 10/10 from both ladies. The place is also beautiful and loved the decor. If you love a roast this is a must!!!!

We had an amazing roast at Quayside today. Delicious beef, crispy roast potatoes, cheesy cauliflower and perfectly cooked veg. I couldn’t fault it and think it’s a contender for my favourite roast in Southampton. Highly recommend!

Was here last week, terrible service, waited to be served for so long could of cooked a chicken wing with a lighter! staff too busy with each other and blatantly powdering their noses, absolutely disgusted and will not be returning. Do not recommend.

We arrived at the restaurant at 4:45 after reading on google you’d been open from 11. We were happy to wait 15 minutes while you finished setting up. Service was great to begin with and food was lovely. This would have been a 5 star review if this was there was all to say. However… We noticed the lady at the bar had clearly her partner sat at the bar which is absolutely fine. We also noticed he kept going to the toilet every 5 minutes then nudging the man working behind the bar this night. This has lead us to believe this is why our service when down hill due to powdering his nose quite often. We’d asked for some water told there wasn’t any and it just seemed a chore for them. We then wanted to order some desserts. Having drinks meant we were getting lifts so wondered how long this would take. The man said around 15-20 minutes and that was fine. We also ordered coffees. He goes to the bar and loudly, obnoxiously and arrogantly says the lady ‘I want 4 brownies, 2 americanos and make it quick’ insinuating we were being rude to him and rushing him. Unfortunately we decided do cancel everything and leave promptly after this as we no longer felt welcome. It’s very sad as it could be such a lovely place. As said before the food was lovely and the scenery. It’s the staff that ruined the evening. Not what you expect when paying over £200+.

Popped in today for a roast dinner and wasn’t disappointed, it was like a work of art, like something g from a top London restaurant at a fraction of the price. The bar sits in a beautiful setting on the water (river Itchen) Paul, Fran, Anna, Mike and Onur are so friendly and welcoming. Absolutely love having this incredible wine bar close to me. Onur is the most talented cocktail mixologist I’ve ever met! Highly recommended.

Just been for a light Friday lunch. As usual the food was excellent and the staff very friendly. Combine that with the lovely location and good choice of beers and you can’t go wrong!

A fantastic location for a bar, and the food is always very good and well presented. Choice of beer, wine and cocktails are also very good so there’s always choice. Never had any issues with food or drink here and the atmosphere is fantastic. A great addition to the local community. My only criticism would be when walking in and having not booked a table, it’s often confusing whether you can take a free seat or are shown to a table, as I’ve experienced both here and there isn’t always anyone there to greet you at the door. It’s similar with the bar, I’ve gone up to order drinks at the bar before and also been told it’s table service and had someone take our order, guess it depends on the night and how busy the bar is but can often be confusing. Can sometimes find service is a bit slow, even when not that busy. Otherwise fantastic.

A good position right on the water. Would be even better in the summer where there is outside seating to enjoy the view and the sun. Food was tasty - we ordered various tapas and we also enjoyed the wine and artisan non-alcoholic gin. There is a multi-storey car park right next to the bar.

Firstly Sunday lunch. 3 of us are the Sunday roast, and there was not one complaint 😊 Situated in Woolston Southampton the views from both the bar and terrace in good weather is lovely. Anyway we all ordered the roast beef and wow it was a taste delight and they didn't skimp on the portions either. The meat was cooked to perfection, there were no tendons to try and cut through and it tasted marvelous. There was amble roast potatoes, veg and gravy and the bonus was the fact the veg was cooked properly 😊 It was such a full plate that I had to take some home as we couldn't eat it all. Sunday lunch is highly recommended ✅ Next for tapas ... I treated my granddaughter's to tapas and again it didn't disappoint. I went for the chargrilled steak, garlic and parmesan fries and the garlic bread. The steak came rare and was dressed with a salsa dressing, the steak was lovely and the heat from the dressing accompanied it perfectly. The fries had a good taste to them and were devoured eagerly. The garlic bread was big and very tasty, they obviously don't scrimp on the 🧄. The girls had a margarita pizza and a pepperoni pizza. Both were thin crust and both tasted delicious, nothing was burnt and lots of the toppings. To go with their pizza they had garlic prawns and again these were well seasoned and cooked. Overall I am highly impressed with the food and I would recommend a visit to this independent establishment when in the area. Paul the co owner was backed up superbly by Anne-Marie, Honour, Morgan and Mark, the chefs for the night. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone else who works there, I am afraid I don't know their names ... But all of you well done ✅👍👍👍

Went for a Sunday roast after seeing the menu online, discovered after arriving that the menu online is wrong and prices have also increased but decided to try anyway. Chicken roast came without stuffing, waitress apologised and said she forgot to tell us they had run out and would take an extra we ordered off the bill but this wasn’t taken off and we ended up paying for everything anyway. I don’t think the quality was worth the price and I don’t think I would go back but the building was really nice inside and they have a good drinks selection.

Been here before and enjoyed it however last 2 times I have been was not a good experience. No chef first time, had tried to book but no answer on phone then no pizza dough on second attempt with no warning until we ordered and food took almost an hour to arrive. Very disappointed 😞

Visited with my elderly parents to try out the relaunched Sunday dinner and it was fabulous, food was amazing and the staff were extremely attentive and nothing was too much trouble! Will definitely be back

Got told we could have food. Waited for family to arrive got drinks. Decided what we wanted with a bill total of over £80. To be told they’re not doing food. Even though we got promised they was doing food. Also having a 2 year old who is starving to be told this. Short staffed, and useless.

Absolutely love Quayside! Had friends down from Yorkshire and wanted to show off my local fav! I often go for drinks there and love the food! She was overwhelmed by the food and service and being a Yorkshire lot, well you know what they can be like (she will agree) The service was amazing and the food freshly cooked and ready to scoff! We even got recommended cocktails and wine to compliment our food choices! I don’t normally dine there, just have a dish or two at the bar, but we were all wowed from start to finish! Hopefully I’ll get a boyfriend soon and get to eat there again for free haha! ( even though the prices were reasonable! But free always tastes better lol xxx) be good if he was 6.5 and called Justin too. 🤣

Having loved Quayside since it opened last year, it was only natural that I chose the venue to host my 40th birthday party. What a night!! The staff were incredible and we all had a fabulous time. I love Quayside and a lot of my friends who hadn't been there before have definitely said they would be back. Thank you Paul, Mike, Fran and the team for an absolutely fabulous night!

We use this wine bar regularly. Perfect for a summer evening or for refreshments following a dog walk. Ideal spot on the waterfront. Clean establishment with friendly staff, a great selection of drinks and lovely food. Dog friendly too!

Had an evening here a few weeks ago, great location to watch the sun go down, staff were lovely, food & cocktails were superb.

Having visited Quayside for food and drinks on a number of occasions previously was looking forward to having a meal and some drinks with friends there. Sadly my recent experience has extinguished any future plans to return again. As someone who is Gluten Free I was looking forward to being able to have pizza as they state on their menu Gluten Free bases are available. Shortly after I’d ordered the waitress returned to say there were no GF bases available so I would have to choose something else. I asked her to check with the chef what else was GF on the menu and she came back with no answer so I had to choose 2 basic tapas dishes of padron peppers and patatas bravas that I thought would be safe for me to eat. The rest of our party ordered a total of 4 pizzas. After quite some time my friends and I realised that customers who had arrived and ordered after us had received their food and we were still waiting. At this point we tried to get the attention of waiting staff to find out what had happened. There was some conversation between the staff at the counter and a young waitress got sent over to tell us that there had been a malfunction with the till and the ticket had not gone through to the kitchen, she was very apologetic and clearly embarrassed so we were very understanding as we felt really it was the managers place to speak to us rather than sending a young member of the waiting staff. She offered us a round of drinks on the house and some complimentary olives, dips and bread. This complimentary offer in itself took 15mins to arrive. We waited quite a time after this and noticed again that people who had come in after were receiving their food so queried again when we would be getting our food and were told it wouldn’t be long. We had arrived at 6.30pm and my two tapas dishes eventually came out at 8.30pm and my friends pizzas were half an hour later at 9pm. Sadly the quality of the food was dreadful. The padron peppers were undercooked and basically still raw and not pleasant to eat and all of the pizzas were heavily burnt all around the edges and very small. This was raised with the manager at the counter and she agreed to take the food off the bill. However when we asked for the bill for our drinks there was a £10.00 cocktail listed that none of had ordered, we raised this with the manager who said it was a mistake, she then became very cross and was extremely rude. She screwed the bill up at the table and told us just to go without paying for anything. An evening of error after error, really poor service and a manager who really should have dealt with the situation much better rather than losing her temper and being so rude to customers who’d had a really poor dining experience.

This is a lovely bar with a good drinks menu, especially for those who are driving. Unfortunately the service lets it down. We were a table of 5 for drinks and light food. There was no gluten free pizza base, leaving one if us with only tapas as an option. An issue with our order left us waiting for food for 90 minutes. We were offered complimentary drinks and olives with bread and oil, which we gratefully accepted. Our friend’s tapas then turned up alone, with promises that the pizzas would be 10 minutes. 30 minutes later our pizzas arrived, after our friend had finished eating. They were half crust and half burnt. By this stage we were losing the will and, on mentioning this, we were told that we wouldn’t be charged for the food. As a final insult, when the bill was delivered a £10 cocktail had been added that wasn’t ours. When we asked to speak with the manager, she apologised, but was very insincere and then stormed off, saying we wouldn’t be charged anything. I feel very sorry for the owner as the whole debacle left a sour taste and we would all happily have paid, if the issue had been properly handled, by the manager, in the first place. The poor waitress was in tears at one point and I can’t even imagine being left, front of house, with absolutely no support. I can honestly say, none of us have ever experienced and evening like it.

What more can I say, other than! wonderful. Dog friendly outside and in. Staff very pleasant, food cooked to order and very morish. Beautiful spot by the water. Best views of the water in Southampton. We'll worth a visit. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Very disappointing evening as the food and situation of the restaurant was first class. However, we had a 1hr.30min wait for our food (three dishes and one of the ordered drinks not being available that evening) and after waiting 30 minutes for dessert was told that it was no longer on the menu. As our booking was 6.30 pm one has to ask why so much was not available early in the evening. One of the waitresses seemed to be doing all the work (cheerfully) whilst the other now and again wiped down tables, stared into space and played with her hair. When we asked to speak to the manager about the delay we were told he was in the kitchen helping the only chef on duty, who was 16! Despite his age he did produce lovely food but considering how busy the restaurant was on a Wednesday really needed more help. Also, we found the music too loud for comfortable conversation. I had intended to make two further bookings but won't be going back. Such a shame.

A wonderful setting, staff and meal, freshly cooked and extremely tasty. Living within walking distance is an added bonus. The outside seating is so nice, blankets provided if it's a little chilly and everyone so respectful of it being a residential area. Would thoroughly recommend

Mediocrity at its best. It's true what they say - never trust menus with typos. Tapas - allegedly. Nothing says Spanish tapa like Italian rice balls and frozen Mexican snacks. The smell of fried food when you walk through the main entrance is quite overwhelming....

This place is superb. No pressure, no issues with the food, the service, the fantastic staff,and dog friendly to cap it all. Exceptionally clean, and a good array of drinks including cocktails. Having spent many hours in bars around the world, it is nice to know that there are still good people in England that can pull a rabbit out of the hat.Well done Paul,and I hope the success that you're bar deserves will soon come your way. Six of us visited Quayside for a Sunday roast. A very warm welcome greeted us and our table was perfect for a family of six. Four of us ordered the vegetarian roast option which was very tasty. One had pork one had the beef complete...

very poor. We came here for lunch last Sunday and 7 of us waited over an 1hr 30mins for our food. Some of us got our food whilst two others didn't including a kids meal, for a further 10mins? We informed the staff that two were cold, so they agreed to fix this. Staff were so quick to plonk the plates down and just walk away, not offering any condiments or coming back to ask how are the meals? nothing.. surely this is just basic waitressing.. This restaurant is in a great location with a great view, just a shame they let themselves down. It appears not much has improved for the past six months judging by the negative reviews, and sadly myself and my family wont be returning especially having to nurse our daughter from food poisoning from this establishment....

This is a truly excellent venue. They try really hard to anticipate what a customer wants and are responsive to feedback. The food is top notch and sometimes a little edgy which is great! Dog friendly , good selection of alcohol , decent coffee that isn’t over priced and a magnificent view!

Great bar! Seems popular, which is great in what seems like an otherwise quite sleepy area. Yummy cocktails and nice tapas. Service can be a bit slow but otherwise it’s a lovely place to go for a nice drink. Amazing location on a hot summers day with waterside seating. Woolston will be the new Ocean Village in no time I’m sure of it 😉

Went to Mettericks in Woolston but was told they weren't serving food for an hour so they suggested we try here instead, what a result! We had a really nice Brunch with a great view over the waterfront. Will definitely be coming back soon.

At first staff advised that food order is available and then when it came to order we overheard the kitchen advise that they couldn’t be arsed to do pizza or garlic bread or anything we attempted to order. Owner really need to look at the staff that are employed as are ruining his business. Loads of potential as its a lovely place in the right location

Came for girls night on 2nd September. Such a lovely evening. The food was amazing especially the vegan cheese on the pizza 😋. Cocktails were amazing as was the atmosphere. Sorry it took us so long to order and figure out our bill. The waiting staff were amazing especially as some were being trained on a busy Friday night. Everything was handled seamlessly. Thank you.
