The best restaurants in North West

Really disappointed by the lunch. Me and my family visited Nick's at Turton golf club on Sunday. It was for a birthday meal/catch up with family. I have been many times to the golf club when it was under a different restaurant. Always excellent service and food was great. I had been told that the new restaurant was being run by a well established local name with good reputation The Sunday lunch was extremely disappointing, The service was extremely slow, particularly between the starters and mains. The staff did not appear well trained or attentive. The restaurant was full and we noticed some diners who came after us was served before us, I had chicken roast dinner: the roast potatoes were burnt and could not be cut or eaten, the vegetables were watery and selection of vegetables poor. There were no accompaniments offered. My mum had crème brûlée as a dessert and she could not eat hardly any of it, due to it being hard and overcooked. My kids had steak and small portion of chips to share between them, no additional vegetables or accompaniments. We felt really disappointed by our experience and after looking forward to it for some time. We won't be returning.

A warm welcome for me and my 2 dogs at this traditional old inn. I enjoyed the lamb cutlets from the range of specials and some decent wine. Reasonably priced too. Thank you

Visited for the second time, this time with kids and grandparents. Lovely food. Hot, tasty and varied menu. Great atmosphere and attentive staff. Would recommend and visit again when in the lakes.

Lovely assorted plates served by Bachi, nothing was too much, very helpful. Fresh food, Ypu must try the Octopus! Food was delicious!

Fabulous food, with excellent staff especially Hannah & Edward, nothing was a problem. Both a real asset to the business Music too loud - sounded like thud, thud, thud. Would be lovely to have a pianist playing on that lovely grand piano. Evening finished with live entertainment which was lovely.

The food is very creative and delicious, the portion is worth for money value, had amazing time with my friends, 10 of us that night, everyone has enjoyed the food, especially Edward, his service is 5 stars, really nice guys, helping from taking photos to every details, very good employee to have.

Didn't eat here but the quality of the service and the selection of wine is superb

What a lovely restaurant this is. We were made very welcome and even though we were a walk in and had not booked, they accommodated the 4 of us. Food was exceptional and the staff very attentive, especially John. I know the reviews are mainly about the food and if I could of given it 10 stars, I would but service is important to me and that was definitely a 10. Thank you John and thank you for my carry out, that's breakfast sorted.

Having spent two hours coming up the locks to Blackburn we were just looking for a late lunch somewhere dry. Well, what a welcome! Of course the kitchen is open, of course you can tie the boat up here, stay the night if you like. Well why not, because the cocktails and the food are as excellent as the welcome. I don't know if it really is the worlds only sail-through Caribbean restaurant but I'm certain it's the best one on the Leeds & Liverpool!

We have celebrated many birthdays at Thai Rice [ a few of them with 0 on the end!] This was a 70th and my tempura veg was crispy and sweet followed by a smooth green curry with fluffy rice all served with friendliness and style . One of the aspects we love about Thai Rice is the food is always good and often excellent so you can rely on super cuisine every time. Thanks for a lovely birthday lunch ! What puzzles us is that the restaurant wasn't packed . You should have to fight for places the food is so good !
