Palace Balti & Tandoori Restaurant in St. Helens

The food never arrived had me wanting 2 and a half hours was told on the phone that it had nothing to do with the restaurant as apparently the driver doesn’t work for them it’s down to just eat I could tell by the tone of his voice that they hadn’t even cooked my food in the first place thanks a lot my kids are going to bed hungry

Ordered tonight from Uber Eats and for once it was a quick delivery but food was very disappointing. Mixed starter was OK and just warm enough to eat, Special fried rice was just too greasy and just about warm, and the so called Special Rogan josh was a bland tomato based barely spiced sauce, definitely NOT a Rogan josh and less spicy than a Korma. Peshwari naan was ok and tasty but only had coconut inside. A complete disappointment and total waste of Money. Update on issue Sent a message via their website but no reply sent an email to their so-called customer care after no reply to message and yet again no reply Decided to call in to try and rectify the issue as had put the majority of the inedible meal in the fridge and took it with me so I could show them how bad it was but all I got was verbal abuse from the manager who even threatened me with calling the police if I did not leave, tried to reason with him but the abuse carried on. Asked him politely to at least just taste the so called curry but he refused, politelty asked the staff but they also refused. He seemed to think that the message I had left via their website about the issue and then the email to their non existent customer support should be left unanswered as it was a complaint. He kept saying it was not his problem and to contact Uber even though it was the food that was the issue not the delivery. Even when I managed to calm him down his attitude was still the same. No excuse for the verbal abuse from the manager and the total lack of customer care and no attempt from the establishment to try and resolve the issue. Any half decent manager would of at least tried to resolve the issue and the review could of had a positive ending and could have turned a BAD review around.

I don't often leave reviews but felt I need to. Visited on new years eve as part of a party of seven, the food and staff where brilliant, have to give it 10 out of 10.

regular customer here, normally the best curry house in town. tonight I turned up for collection and seems they couldn't find my order, stood around for a bit then they had it, garlic chilli chicken masala was too salty to eat, literally it was inedible. the murgh betwar has literally 0 sauce, just minced meat and chicken pieces which is bizarre. the naan bread was hard as a rock as well. gutted. my guess is they've rushed it cus I was there, 0/5 this time.

Ordered for delivery tonight and waited around an hour. The uber driver turned up and tried to give me someone else's order but I had given the uber code before realising. I gave him the order he walked off and never came back with any food. Phoned the restaurant to see if they are able to do anything and basically met with the attitude of phone uber eats (No phone number available and will not connect you to the driver) So now I'm £30 down with no order and no help as to how to get my money back as all you can do is report it as not turning up.

Went in at 18:30 on the 23rd of December Was sat down immediately ordered Drinks poppadums came quick and were fresh Tandoori kebab starter came and was very nice 3 curries and a biryani all came Everybody ate all the food and not a single complaint everything was tasty, absolutely no complaints Staff were pleasant and attentive considering the restaurant was considerably busy. Haven’t been here for a few years due to not the best food in the past But would say, the food is definitely better than in previous years. Myself and company definitely look forward to more meals to come in the future near future.

this was my first time ordering ,the chicken tikka was lovely, the rice and poppadoms were lovely. the fries were dreadful and very overpriced . the mint dip was awful ,it tasted of peach yoghurt ,really horrible. other than that the main dish was really nice

Absolutely on time - quick! (Even on a Friday night!) Handed over with a smile. Great food - proper quality chicken in the Jalfrezi. Excellent tarka dhal with delicious strong flavour of roast garlic. Would order again.

Second and last time ordering. The lamb chops were more fat than meat - really poor quality ingredients and smacks of cost cutting. At nearly £14 they were more than many other places charge so I was surprised just how bad they were. The starter was nice but I'll be going elsewhere in the future.

The ‘Palace special’ starter is an unusual option from an Indian takeaway but it worked really well and would have it again. The ‘chicken tikka razatha’ and ‘chicken tamarind’ were a little on the bland side but perhaps we just ordered mild curries without realising it. Would be happy to order again to choose something different from the menu.

Starter (the one with tikka and a cheese omelette) was very nice. The curries were tasty but not particularly spicy - but that might just be the choices we made. Would be happy to order again to try something different from the menu.

Absolutely amazing and delicious food. Couldn’t fault it, everything was very tasty, full of flavour, hot on arrival. Can see this becoming our new favourite Indian go to.

Great quality and fast delivery

Really enjoyed my meal. Very tasty and they followed my request for extra hot with more Chillies. Only complaint is I thought the portion was small. Both the rice and meat containers were half empty.

Food was great as per usual although my mum was a little disappointed due to her missing a salad and sauce. It was my mums birthday meal treat.

Best Indian restaurant we have ever used. The evening was diminished by Just Eats new (to us ) 10% service charge and then ask for a gratuity for the courier! I prefer to tip the driver directly

We went to the palice Balti Tandoori for my husband 60th birthday meal we had a lovely time the food was amazing and the staff was really polite friendly nothing was to much trouble. Lovely atmosphere everything was spotless. Would definitely recommend.

I ordered a chicken curry and a lamb curry on arrival both were chicken , I specifically ordered lamb as I don’t like chicken so one of my meals was wasted…… . Very, very disappointed!!!!

Pilau rice was missing from the order, but the rest of the food was alright.

First time I've been in about 6 years. Still a great Indian in St Helens and reliable. The staff are really nice, welcoming and did a great job at making it a special meal. The chicken Tikka Masala and chicken korma are hands down the most flavourful curries I've had in a long time. The rice and naan are great too. The onion bhajis were a let down. You get 3 very small bhajis which were quite dry and hard. Not the best, especially for the price you pay. We paid £50.90 for 4 cold soft drinks, 6 poppadoms and chutneys, a starter, 2 mains, a rice and a naan bread. So overall a little pricey but not too bad.

Me and me girlfriend came here tonight for the first time and I’ve got to say it was probably the best Indian ive ever had and the service is class will definitely be coming back 👌

Went on a Saturday and they found us a table even though it was quite busy service was kind polite and attentive however when I got a bit lost looking for the toilet I was told “up there mate” by another waiter, but it didn’t spoil our dinner and the dried ice effect was a nice extra will be going back, well done

For £3.50 I would expect more than 2 tiny samosas. One tray of salad and one sauce for 2 starters. There was far too much oil in both the veg balti and the mushroom rice. My last 2 orders were fine, but tonight it was awful. For a restaurant I would expect better.

Food was dreadful. Could smell old fat on the food. It was awful…greasy, tasteless. It was awful.

First time ordering and the food was absolutely delicious! The pathia, my favourite was spot on. Hopefully this will be my new go to for Indian takeaway.

I went there for my retirement meal with my workmates, great place to have meal with either groups or just a couple, even go on your own, the staff are great, friendly and the food is superb.

The top of the bag was squashed down on delivery. 2 pots of dips/sauces from the pickles tray had been squashed and the lids had come off, so everything in the bag was swimming in their contents. The papadoms had also been crushed into tiny pieces. Everything had to be de- gunked before we could eat. The pots and the papadoms need to be packed more securely to prevent this happening. Once past this issue we sat down to eat, and the food was delicious. Will probably use the service again, as we have been eating in this restaurant for years and have always been impressed with their food and service. This was the first time we ordered on line for delivery. Whilst I can't give 100% for the overall experience, the food itself was almost as good as it being served in the restaurant, which is saying something for food that has been boxed and bagged after cooking and then transported a few miles before being consumed.

Came down from London and friend recommended this place for dinner. Family friendly place and staff were helpful and attentive. Food was delicious and the spice levels were just right for us. Would recommend the meat thaali as you get a mixture of different dishes to try. Will defo come again on our next visit.

First christmas eve meal out ever .loved it food lovely services great will do it again

It was a pleasure to be at the Palace for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with our 360 photobooth. Staff were friendly and provided great customer service to myself and by the looks of it to a floor full of happy customers. I enjoyed my spicy garlic chilli chicken with garlic nan bread. I will definitely bring my family down next time I’m in the area!

Considering how busy it was on christmas eve they did a great job. Food was a bit late but that was expected for christmas eve. They even had a 360 photo booth which made it special for the kids. Overall good experience here and I was impressed with how great the atmosphere was. Would reccomend!

Love this place. We came on christmas eve and it was so busy. We didn’t book so had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. Food was excellent even though there was a wait. The atmosphere here is unmatched especially on the weekend.

Wasted nearly 2 hours in what was a brilliant restaurant..and walked out to go to a takeaway. Been going for 18 years on Christmas Eve - big family.. would not entertain again under the new management. To make it worse-they didnt care. Such a shame.

Was passing through St Helen on the weekend and visited Palace Balti & Tandoori. First thoughts were that the place is warm and spacious. I asked to be seated by the windows as it was lit up with led lights and looked great. The menu has lots of options, I chose the lamb chops and onion bhajis for starters. The chops were tender and juicy, and the bhajis were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. For mains, I asked for a garlic chilli chicken with naan bread. The spice levels were just right. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit! Fresh, authentic curries served hot with sizzling starters. Would definitely recommend if you’re in St Helens.

Excellent service! Came for my birthday with my family and friends and the staff were soo nice, couldn’t have been any better. Food was tasty too! This is deffo my new go to for an indian!

Smashing atmosphere, great food, outstanding service, worth a visit.

Since the restaurant has been taken over, the food has gone straight down hill. The food was horrible! The salad consisted of brown lettuce, small piece of lemon and one slice of cucumber? Awful. The curry was tasteless, dry and cold, as was the naan. What a shame, The Palace used to serve lovely food (it was our go-to) but we won’t be going back there again.

The palace used to be a lovely Indian restaurant the food the staff where lovely been for a takeaway tonight absolutely disgraceful the curry was dry and cold the nan bread was tasteless. .The lettuce was brown there a tiny piece of lemon along with a lonley piece of cucumber . The staff where not the usual friendly stafc it has deffo changed hands has new owners. Well i think you will loose a hell of a lot of customer's.
