Warm welcome from friendly staff. Food was actually better than 4 stars and very tasty - it was let down at the end by a poor black coffee that lacked strength or flavour. (Get fresh beans!). I did enjoy the food though.

Came for lunch last Sunday with my family. Service was quick and food was amazing! We had the roast which was very tasty and the kids loved their sausage and mash. Will be coming back soon.

We enjoyed our leisurely late lunch at the Crown - tasty food, good drink selection and prompt service. I had the best vegetarian meal I've ever eaten in a pub 😋 My main course was the cheese, leek and potato pie, with mash, mangetout, carrots, green beans and peas. The gravy was good too! Being in the afternoon, the pub was fairly quiet, but we like it that way 😁 We'll definitely be back.

Took my parents and 4 yr old for lunch on a Saturday. Host was enthusiastic, service was prompt. Nice warm plates and really lovely mains. Parents had sausage&mash and the gammon whereas I had the pan roasted chicken special which was, as suggested by the host, really tasty. Kids meal was pretty standard fayre but a clean plate is a winner. Don’t get home to Goostrey as often as I’d like but good to know the local is still punching for a good honest food.

As a regular, visiting twice a week for a pint, I had not used the restaurant for over a year until last Sunday due to a poor experience. As it was Mothering Sunday it was very busy but the service was very efficient and mainly provided by young people who were friendly and regularly checking your needs..In the background I noted that the Manager was unobtrusively keeping an eye on things, but did not need to get involved. Food was good and in summary would say it was a significant improvement on our last visit. on everything,

We were there for lunch with a party of around 25 and really pleased with the food and service. Food was on time and great quality , staff really attentive and friendly, thank you !

We had a buffet for 70 people and there was plenty of food so much that people took home boxes of sandwiches, the bar staff were very efficient and courteous the overall experience was first class.

The Crown provides a comfortable, traditional setting for an excellent meal. The service was well timed and the server friendly and helpful. The tables are spaced so you are not crowded in and you can chat easily. Everything was clean. It was a very enjoyable meal and great value for money.

Lovely late afternoon roast, plenty of meat, perfectly cooked vegetables and roast potatoes and plenty of excellent gravy !! Staff super efficient and friendly Whats not to love !! Thank you x

Service as always great but menu choices limited as often some off menu (would come on a Sunday but can only come late afternoon and Sunday roasts tend to run out before then) Have also visited since 29th but only for a drink Looking fwd to a change in the nenu. Visited for the first time in very long time since the new owners have taken over. Served by Ann Marie, she was very pleasant and helpful. It was very quiet but nevertheless the atmosphere was nice ,also had the fires on which was nice on this cold day.food was tasty and hot and would definitely be returning.

Not up to usual standard - seemed to be suffering from post-Christmas blues. Quite down-beat - very few customers - staff a little desolate? Very different from this time last year when their offers were in full swing and bringing in the customers. Let's hope for better times ahead - we will be back!

Second review of here so it must be good. Popped in for a a Sunday lunch had the trio of meats which was lovely and huge portion. Lovely Al dente veg and fluffy roast potatoes yummy. Great girls that was serving Kate Anne Marie and Hope looked after me really well

Just had Christmas Dinner, great place, lovely atmosphere and the food was very nice. Would have preferred vegetables to have been served separately as last year. Although the food was delicious some of the party eat bigger meals than others and would have been nice to have served the vegetables between us. Would we visit again for Christmas Dinner? Yes if it went back to serve your own vegetables.

Staff were very friendly and squeezed us in and the pie of the day meal was perfect and has us leaving very satisfied 😋

Lovely venue, fantastic service from Anne-Marie. Great food from the Christmas menu, just a pity the sea bass came without any sauce.

Very friendly welcome, choice of tables either in the bar or restaurant area. Good real ales on offer. Not too extensive a menu, we opted for steak and fish and chips. Steak arrived as ordered and was reported to be tasty. Fish had light batter, plenty of firm white flesh, accompanied by mushy peas and tartare sauce. The fish was a very good portion whilst the chips etc did not overwhelm. Having got room for desserts, we enjoyed crumble and a brownie sundae. All in all, very enjoyable with pleasant and unobtrusive service. Will be visiting again.

Went for a cosy anniversary evening meal - just the two of us- and both the food and the service was exemplary! Delightful personal service throughout by Lara who was professional with great warmth and empathy. The food was excellent and served in good time between ordering and arrival at table. First visit , what a lovely place to spend a few hours , Friday afternoon very quiet but had a very warm welcome . I was in a group of 6 , soup of the day , 6oz rump steak and apple and cherry crumble with custard , food pipping hot and absolutely delicious, no complaints from the rest of the group , served by Ann-Marie who made us very welcome, was very polite and helpful a credit to the owner and pub . Welldone team , I will definitely be back .

What a lovely pub, decor is lovely, the meal was really top class, Christian one of the chef’s came out to ask was our meal ok, something that doesn’t always happen in a pub these days. Well worth a visit.

The staff and service was very good but some of the food let us down. I had a chicken salad and asked for no peppers but when it came out it had chilli pepper on. I couldn't eat it so it was replaced so I was behind my friends to finish. One lady asked for steak well done. It was medium rare and had a lot of gristle.

Came into the Crown the other night for food and drinks with some friends that I hadn’t seen in a while! We had a lovely visit and it couldn’t have been a better experience. Our server was lovely and had great rapport with all guests who attended, they managed to grasp our humour very quickly! The drinks were presented to us quickly and the food was absolutely delicious! We all opted for starters, mains and desserts, as the choices were right up our street! I had the BBQ Cauliflower wings, a Chicken, Bacon and Avocado Salad and a chocolate brownie sundae for dessert! Honestly to die for!! We will definitely be returning in the future! Props to the team! We especially liked the candles being lit, added a great ambience to the restaurant!

We went out for a family dinner; we have visited many times before and the food quality, atmosphere and service was very good as usual.

We stopped here for the first time for an impromptu lunch and were amazed at the quality of the food and the value for money. The service was impeccable, nothing was too much trouble and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. For a lunch time choice we could order from the lunch or main menu and the choices were comprehensive and excellent value for money. All freshly prepared and the welcome was very warm indeed.

Nice pub in lovely Goostrey. Visited on a Sunday evening. It was fairly busy when we arrived but were happy to wait though had to eventually ask for menus and a drink. Menu choice and food were good but were left with uncleared plates for 20 minutes. It wasn't busy by this time and this lack of service put us off staying for dessert.

We went to the crown spontaneously and were warmly welcomed by the staff with smiles and polite hello’s. We sat in the restaurant, which was warm and had candles lit on every table which made for a great atmosphere, we had the cod and chips and chicken tikka masala which were delicious! We also had a great chat with our waitress, Lara. Great food and service will definitely be returning very soon!

Two of us visited for lunch today after a lovely walk in the Goostrey area. Tasty food, 3 real ales on tap and excellent friendly service from Natasha. Good value and made to feel really welcome. Well worth calling in!

Went for a Sunday roast, ordered the beef. The veg, Yorkshire pudding, gravy and potatoes were really, good but the beef was not so great. Very chewy and overdone. Sadly at 2.30 it was the only option left of the day and we may have had better luck with another dish. Service was friendly but seemed unbothered.
