Went in today at midday, no reservation, they found us a table..Great food and service. Very friendly.

My first visit to Owd Betts in many years, but definitely not my last. A lovely atmosphere, very friendly and attentive bar staff, a great range of drinks and the food is superb. I had the mixed grill, which was huge and cooked perfectly. The desserts are also excellent. Highly recommended for couples, groups or families. Plenty of parking and great views.

A perfect traditional pub. A lovely cosy pub with real fire. The staff are so friendly and cheerful. The Rag pudding was delicious, really hot food and tasty. Great lunch, highly recommend it.

I only took one star off for service because we were asked too many times if we were ready to order whilst we were having a drink BEFORE our meal. I know it's uncommon but we had arrived early so wanted a coffee and to just relax by the fire for a bit first.

Must be one of the best pub/restaurants in the area . Visited many times and found the food always exceptional . Friendly & knowledgeable staff really add to the experience. A real fire in winter adds to the ambiance. Highly recommended for all occasions.

Great food, great view and lovely staff

Popped in on Sunday and found it busy, but they managed to squeeze us in, with just a little wait. It was most definitely worth the wait as the Sunday lunch was absolutely amazing. Probably the best I've ever had. I would have had pudding, but just didn't have room after such an amazing/ large lunch. All staff were so friendly and polite. Will definitely be going back.

I visited the Owd Betts inn a long while back . Finally got round to visiting Owd Betts inn again today 22/08/2024. I can honestly say it’s a great country inn . The open fire was alight when we went in which was fantastic as it was quite breezy outdoors and chilly . We actually booked a table as it can get really busy . We was shown to our seats by a lovely member of staff, Our drinks order was taken. We were then left to look through the menu . My grandson chose the cheese & tomato pizza with chunky chips from the kids menu . I choose onion pie with chunky chips and beans , my mother chose rag pudding chunky chips and peas . Well I can say we all cleared our plates not a drop left on them . The food we had was absolutely delicious everyone meal was cooked to perfection. The staff were so nice to us made us feel very welcome . We shall definitely be calling back again in the near future .

A delightful traditional pub, "unspoiled" - in the nicest possible way. Menu not extensive but hogh quality and offering something for everyone including substantial snacks and sandwiches. Three cask ales in good condition plus all the usual stuff. Service charming and attentive, piped music mostly absent or quietly unobtrusive, a definite plus point! This could become my first choice hereabouts...

We have been to Aud Betts every time we come to the UK and the food is always excellent as is the service.The fire was going as it was a usual English summer cold and wet.Very cosy.

Lovely place and atmosphere, staff really good at their job, was up there last Sunday walking, stopped off for a bite to eat and drink, highly recommend.

I had fish chips and pea the meal was outstanding there service was quick and as a first time Customers we felt like we been going there for a while. We will be back again. Keep up the good work and see you all soon x

I want to say a massive thank you to all the staff for making my Dad's birthday so special. We was a party of 8 and needed wheelchair access, nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was amazing and the service was fantastic. Highly recommend going there and we certainly will be returning. Thanks again

Such a beautiful old English pub. Very cosy with fire burning, candles on tables. We were instantly welcomed and the waitress/bar tender was very warm and friendly. The food was amazing we went with her recommendations it was very traditional and very tasty food. 😋

Really lovely, all the staff are very attentive, the food is amazing, I have the poached chicken roulade, absolutely beautiful one of the best meals I've had, I will give it 10/10. Thank you all.

A decent view across Ashfield Moor reservoir. Inside there’s two rooms both to the left and right set up for dining. Small area in the middle for drinkers and three tables out front adjacent to a car park for sitting out in the sunshine. Pint of wainwright tasted decent.

Only popped in for a drink... First time in 15 years... Goodness knows why I left such a gap. This is one of the most honest, traditional, great value pubs around these parts. Glad to see it's still got the same atmosphere it had 40 years ago

Since the last time I visited. The place looks fresher and more relaxed. I have to say, if you go for food you won't leave hungry. The food is spot on and plentiful. I had the rag puddin, it was sensational. And you have to try the Frickles, you can thank me later. If you manage to visit on a nice sunny day they views are beautiful

Absolutely one of the Best Sunday roast we had as a family, great portion sizes. I'm gluten free, and they were very accommodating, with a separate menu. It was delicious 😋 Will be back again soon

Great staff, really enjoyed the pie specials (on for national pie week). Also, actually dog friendly, not just accepting - brought a tray of meet out for them (after checking with us). Ideal spot for after a good walk. Was busy when we left, Saturday 14:00, so would recommend calling to book a table for food. Although they where still accomodating walk-ins for couples. We'll be returning.

Staff are welcoming, helpful and attentive without being overbearing. Menu has some irresistible starters and hearty, flavour-packed mains. Sitting in the middle of several options for picturesque walks, it's possible to either work to an appetite or stride off the meal. Well worth a visit

This is the first time in year's that we stopped off at Owd Betts for a spot of lunch and what a superb meal we had, the Cheese and onion pie was amazing service was very attentive nothing too much trouble with staff being friendly and welcoming, there's a very cosy atmosphere especially with the fire roaring away. I can thoroughly recommend stopping off there with a good selection on the menu along with some excellent beers. Prices are reasonable especially when you consider the excellent quality of the food. The place is dog friendly and plenty of parking is available. We will certainly be back.

Pork and black pudding bob bons where delicious, if you've never tried freckles I'd recommend them. The mixed grill was plenty but the meat a little fatty.

Changed many hands over my years but definitely a place to have a nice meal especially after a long walk up in the hills. The service is fantastic! Support your local!!!

Lovely place to spend a wet Saturday afternoon

Food was shocking never before have a had a steak so salty and gristly the gammon was like cardboard worst mix grill I've come across its was like re heated meat the chips where good that's bout it really won't be returning 2nd time the food has been poor.. Good atmosphere friendly staff

Was closed when I was there but opposite was a good layby for motorhome parking.

It was really lovely but the food wasn’t hot enough for both me and my partner. It got zapped in the microwave which was still tasty but veg needs to be hotter for sure

Great service, lovely atmosphere, but the Sunday roast was terrible, every item was disappointing, the beef was tough, the gravy was watery, the Yorkshire pud was overcooked, the broccoli undercooked, the mash was cold and the roast potatoes soggy. Very disappointed. The beer was good though...

Outstanding food, beautiful scenery and great history

We visited tonight to remember our mum on her first Birthday in Heaven - she loved the cheese pie here so we asked the restaurant to save us four portions. The food, atmosphere and staff were amazing! We had a lovely time with lots of laughs and good memories. Thankyou to the team for a lovely evening x

3 Delicious meals, fish & chips best I have ever had ,served with mushy peas and tartar sauce, my partner had the mixed grill, it beat him ! And my mother-in-law had cheese and onion pie, she said it was delicious, we came upon Owd Betts by chance and so glad we stopped,the staff are very friendly and the restaurant has plenty of character . Definitely worth travelling the 2 hr drive to go again.

Great place for a great steak dinner, friendly but respectful staff. Old traditional looking pub but with contemporary qualities. Arrived early evening so less busy and quiet enough to hear yourself speak. Checked for preferences and the menu is changed often. Friday nights is steak night and booking a table will avoid disappointment, as they say 'up north' !!!

Nice enough place, food ok, however my friend and myself finished our meal and took our drinks into the beer garden, where we were chased for payment of meal, we had asked if it was ok to take our drinks into the beer garden, and the answer was yes. I found this rude, and unprofessional. Customers be aware, they don't trust you!!!!

Enjoyable visit, beer kept very well, Sunday roast was decent, service very good, very friendly folk. The décor had a proper 70s vibe to it. They had Wainwright, Doombar and a very good point of Hopsack from Phoenix. Whiskies very limited choice. Would happily go back.
