Such a lovely place, so much attention to detail from the music, to the plates and crockery, to the history. Very good value and a stunning setting to sit inside or out. 10/10

Friendly staff and nice afternoon tea

Rare to get good hot chocolate but it was great here. Quaint little tea room, not exactly to my taste in decor but the staff were accommodating and friendly. Local walks are fantastic too.

This place is cool! My wife and I had an afternoon tea here on Valentine's Day (this was in-part thanks to Wowcher, for the record). One minute, you are driving through the hustle and bustle of Rochdale; and the next you're suddenly going down a country road into the middle of nowhere and you find yourself here. As the name of the place suggests, it is steeped in history. It's not far away from an old railway viaduct as well as an old air raid shelter. So, on first impressions, the immediate area doesn't look that special, but it's absolutely worth your time to have a wander. We dined in the downstairs tea room. There is more room upstairs. The room had a lovely decor surrounded by antique plates and with large chandeliers. Great music from the 40s and 50s played in the background which I especially enjoyed. It just made for a really lovely atmosphere. Also, dogs are welcome! The staff were really nice and attentive which always goes a long way. They were very friendly and polite. And also, crucially, the food was lovely. We ate every bite of our afternoon tea and the lovely fruit laden scones were especially nice. Also, because it was Valentine's Day, the food had even been themed with heart designs on some of the items. A nice little touch that they didn't have to do. There is also an outdoors eating area which I imagine is especially nice on a warmer day and looks like it comes with patio heaters. I think it is from the back of here that you can access the nature trail. It contains a waterfall and the full walk lasts about an hour. We didn't do this ourselves, but I would love to revisit with the dog.

We were served by Estelle, she was very pleasant & attended to our every need. We had afternoon tea, which was delicious & plentiful. The cakes that we couldn't manage, were brought home in the box provided. Would definitely recommend & will be returning.

We have had a delicious afternoon tea today at The Healey Dell Tea Rooms, everything was freshly made, and beautiful presented, all of the staff were so very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. I came here with my mum and enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea that had a very good selection of savoury and sweet foods. The staff were fantastic and even went to the extra effort of giving me a complimentary cake and card for my birthday. I would highly recommend!

Staff were absolutely great! Was a very cute and interesting place. My only criticism is that some of the cakes on the afternoon tea tasted a bit buttery , but other than that everything was perfect.

Cute little tea room my daughter in law took me for my birthday and it was awesome! The staff are super nice and they brought me card and cake out and sung happy birthday which was super cute, the tea was nice but a bit bitter if left (I haven’t had tea leafs before just tea bags) the quiche was lush and the sandwiches but I was not keen on the cakes ( probably just me to be fair as I’m not a cake person). Thanks, I’ll be back on the 1st for the military thing.

A warm, friendly and courteous welcome awaited us. The upstairs tea room was equally warm and welcoming. The Christmas menu was a lovely surprise and we tucked into the really delicious and generous portions of the Christmas lunch. Highly recommend this. Full marks for the pot of freshly brewed loose leaf Assam tea too. We will be back! Thank you to all the staff, including the lovely kitchen staff, who really cared that we enjoyed our meals.

Went out today for a long walk and fancied a bite to eat , went in with my mum and dad and was welcomed and completely took care of while I was there. LOVE LOVE the new menu 🥰 was served by the lovely Lucy today whose positivity was infectious and put me in a great mood ♥️will be coming back !

I love Healey Dell Tea Rooms sooooo much. Been many times and staff are always so friendly, food is excellent and the venue beautifully unique (I love it so much that I actually had my afternoon hen do celebration here back in 2018 🥰) Today I had the amaretto coffee cake which was absolutely amaaaaazing 👌👌👌 Honestly one of the best cakes I’ve ever had. And I eat a decent amount of cakes… I also had a chrysanthemum flowering tea which was really delightful. Fragrant and delicious. Watching the flower unfurl in the clear tea pot was lovely too. 10 out of 10 every time. A must visit 🫶✨

Dog friendly hidden gem tucked away in Healey Dell. Food was delicious. Staff were friendly and welcoming! I will definitely be back - highly recommend. A luxurious environment, with attentive service, but priced like a local cafe.

Awful! It was a damp wet day, so we chose to sit inside. Despite there being 3 other empty tables, we were given a table right next to the door. That door opened a total of 32 times while we sat trying to eat our meal! We were almost blown out of our seats. Why the waitress needed to keep walking in & out is beyond me, it certainly wasn't to bring our drinks which we had to ask for twice & eventually came when we were half way through the food! NOT the service we gave enjoyed previously.

Lovely place...Halloween decor fab characters and even haunted dolls, ghost story telling and having your picture taken with Freddy krueger...even though it was busy my server emma was fab..highly recommend

Stunning little restaurant with a tasty food! We ordered soup, burger and apple crumble. Everything was fresh and delicious. Highly recommend if you are looking for a good meal, free parking and a nice walk!

Can I just start with complimenting the stunning decor inside, so vintage. The customer service was amazing. It was our first time coming here. We got the tea and coffee. Soup with a sandwich and homemade pie with beans, salad etc. The staff asked how we were getting on which was nice of them. The food was lovely & staff were atrending, friendly and very passionate about what they do.

Just a great place to dine after a few hours walking & taking in the beauty of the waterfalls and nature reserve. Thank you to all the staff for making it a very memorable Sunday visit and providing wonderful genuine hospitality. We will be back for sure for more. Very best wishes and thank you.

First visit here for a birthday celebration. Location is set near the waterfalls and woods. We chose afternoon tea in the Edwardian style Tea room. Food was lovely, staff very friendly and attentive. Before we left the staff cane to our table with birthday cake and card, and all sang happy birthday, which was unexpected, and a nice touch. Would definitely return again

Cannot say enough good things about this place. They instantly made us feel welcome and couldn't do enough for us. They made a fuss of our puppy. (Odin really enjoyed his sausage and cuddles) special shout out to Emma for going above and beyond

The place is very good, good environment and good service, the food portions are fantastic, very tasty and not too expensive. BUT menus without prices (see pictures) is a missive fail. Coffee from £4.25 or alcoholic drinks ??? price is open to many misinterpretations, same with the specials and cakes. It's very uncomfortable for your clients to ask for the prices all the time, that just doesn't feel right. The coffee prices are London prices, but the coffee mocca was huge that is good but the late size was normal. I still don't know how much I paid for the drinks, it doesn't matter, the money is not the problem here! The point is that you deserve 5 stars but need to improve those menus. In my perspective, it's just not right and a fail in your service. Thanks!

The whole experience was brilliant. Calm and relaxing atmosphere, the food was delicious and estelle our server was a pleasure, such a friendly young lady thank you for a truly lovely afternoon.

Just been today booked the down stairs outside room was told on arrival up was tols we were up stairs got up there which was a struggle for my friend whom had to take an astma spray when she sat down hence why we requested down stairs the food was ok our choice of drink was a coffee cafeteria no cappuccino choices etc even though I saw them being served with meals a pot of tea with a strainer so a little dissapointed as this was a treat for my friend on the menu online gives you options of choices of afternoon tea we wasn't offered any choice. So I won't be going again They asked about allergies which is a plus but other than that this was shocking sorry just an a honest review After reading your reply we did ask for down stairs and was told there was no room on arrival .the gentleman who took upstairs even asked if my friend was ok and made a joke about nearly as he could see she was struggling. I can't comment on the asking for down stairs as my friend made the booking and said to me she had been told in arrival she could come down stairs. I had a coffee cafeteria and was told they were the only drinks available for the afternoon tea .a gentle man came to us and said no rush for the table take your time .we was asked once how the afternoon tea was and my friend didn't want me to say anything the actual afternoon. Tea was fine it was the choice of drinks and the seating area I don't think the review is harsh it's honest .I give good and bad reviews if you look at my trust pilot reviews this is not a complaint I have been a secret shopper for many years and believe me this review is not harsh . Nice place with really good outside tables. Near the woods/waterfall and a lovely walk. Staff were good. Clearly all very young and inexperienced, but were very polite and friendly. I got the 'Angus Beef Burger' which according to the menu was 'A very tasty Angus beef burger cooked to perfection & served in a bap with cheese, tomato & onions. Plated with salad & a portion of chunky chips' The meat itself was nothing special, not juicy, and just an average frozen patty with no real flavour and not what I would call 'tasty' like the menu said. It was cooked, so not really sure what 'cooked to perfection' means? You can see from the cheese in the photo that it was either sitting under a heat lamp or put under a grill to melt the cheese which probably also dried out the burger further. It had far too much burger sauce in (which wasn't mentioned on the menu). Luckily I don't mind burger sauce (and it did help the burger go down!) but it was literally pouring out all over my fingers while I was trying to eat the burger and made a mess everywhere. (Either inform people on the menu you are adding the burger sauce or give it on the side, but it's not ok to add that much sauce under any circumstances) The chunky chips were good. Nicely cooked and fluffy in the middle. but the side salad that came with the burger was very old with lots of brown leaves, and did not look at all fresh. My wife had the club sandwich which was nice. A lot of food and nice fillings. Her side salad was nowhere near as bad as mine (perhaps came out of a different packet?) Strangely the crisps that came with her sandwich were rock solid and unpleasant to eat. We saw so many plates go past us with lovely looking sandwiches and toasties, so we clearly chose the wrong items from the menu! It's a real shame as on the menu their afternoon tea does sound really nice, but just not worth taking the risk of driving that far from where we live if it's not up to the standard we would expect.

Great atmosphere(spot on music), friendly staff and good food! Went today with some friends and my little daughter and had a great time.

This is the third time I’ve been to the tearooms with my little girl age two. Every time I have brought her here the staff are reluctant to wait on us. I feel that due to us not being white makes a difference. The waitress make it known that they don’t like Muslims customers. Such a shame.

Very warm greeting, lovely place to stop for a coffee. One of the waiters even gave our dog a treat! Will definitely be retuning.

I visited yesterday with my daughter.The staff are very polite.We ordered Afternoon tea.We were served by Estelle.She is very lovely and friendly and made our visit even more awesome.Must visit.

The decor was something out of Edwardian times, with different plates, ornaments and teapots covering the walls. It felt classy. What wasn't classy was the food and price. We paid £18 for a tea, a coffee and two scones. The menu described it as high quality, home made items. What we got instead was tetley tea (not Healey dell as stated on the menu), Nescafe instant coffee and Costco scones (not homemade) with asda jam. It was not worth the price whatsoever. The service didn't help. We had to ask a few times when our order would be taken and had to get our own knives and forks. Give this a wide miss when your visiting this beautiful and amazing piece of nature.

I tend to pop in when doing a weekend walk, the staff are always lovely and the food is always enjoyable.

From the warmest and most polite greeting, to us leaving . We had the most magical and wonderful experience here today . After booking a wowcher for my friend's birthday , I was pleasantly surprised for the whole experience and transaction to feel very high quality and like nothing was too much trouble. Particular kudos Estelle our fantastic server . Tye sandwiches were so fresh and you could tell the cakes and fancies were very fresh also . We had a fresh caffatier of coffee , but you could chose tea also . Nothing about this experience felt like a bargain deal , it passed for something 3 x the amount paid. We will definitely be returning to sample the a la carte menu , as people around us were enjoying anything from pate , to soup amd even ploughman's, all looked exceptionally fresh and delicious . 11/10 experience and a delighted friend , thank you all so much ❤️

Food took 40 minutes for what I would consider relatively simple dishes. I ordered a sandwich that had crisps on the side, my partner had a salad and my daughter had fish fingers. When it came all dishes were not great unfortunately. Very disappointing as we had wanted to try here for ages.

Came after a walk through Healey Dell! Great atmosphere, very friendly, food was good. We opted for a sandwich (choice of bread provided) & a toastie- which was made with plenty of cheese! Dog friendly and lots of staff engagement with pups too which was nice to see! A little gem in this area, will be back for the afternoon tea & the puppy menu!

Just been to the tea rooms with my mum for a belated Mother’s Day treat. Mum had an afternoon tea and I had a vegetarian afternoon tea which was delicious. All the staff were lovely and very welcoming. It was our first time there but it won’t be our last.

What a sweet place. We couldn't get into the quaint little tea room but enjoyed the swing jazz drifting through the window while we shared my cream tea .My partner had a ruby beer with his half of the scone so I guess you would call that a cream beer! Lovely staff and impeccable service. To finish it off as we walked up the road a deer ran in front of us, while other young bucks played by the Riverside. I do hope this little gem goes from strength to strength

Me and my friends all brought our mums out for a Mother’s Day treat and we have no complaints. We all had an amazing day and really enjoyed it there. The food was great and the china was really special. We were lucky enough to get a table upstairs which was also very nicely decorated.

We just visited for the first time. The food was lovely and really good portions. The children’s afternoon tea was really cute. The music was really nice and created a great atmosphere. Also had a lovely take away coffee and cake.

Great set up. Lovely walks. Gets very busy..so we always get there first thing to get a parking space, have a walk. Then coffee, lunch after. Dogs welcome. So good family day out.

Shocking service. Took 1h 20 for beans on toast and then our meals didn’t even come together. Good value for money… but you pay for it with time out of your day.

I really would have liked to give it five stars, but I was let down by the food. The menu was extensive, but it could have perhaps been consolidated to a few specialized items. I ordered the fried rice special, and it was soggy, with the chicken a bit too salty. The staff were exceptional; extremely friendly and accommodating. I would come again after a walk to try the treats rather than the mains. The outdoor area was dog friendly and cosy with the heater.

Next time I'll just buy a sandwich instead and save a good few quid. Service is excellent, really nice people. Dog friendly. Vegan friendly. Location is cool as anything. I'll go again.

Atmospheric, specific and tasty place. Good for resting after a walk outdoors. Aromatic teas, possibility of adding water (contrary to appearances, not everyone wants to add water everywhere 😉) Delicious vegetarian food.

My daughter and I visited the Healey Dell Tea rooms prior to our walk. We were greeted with a very warm and friendly welcome giving us a choice of where we would like to sit. An amazing choice from an extensive menu. Food is made fresh so a little wait is required and very worth while. Very friendly staff who are genuinely keen to know if we were satisfied with our food and drinks. We came back after our walk to recharge with some tea and a cake. Will definitely be making a return visit!

I’ve been here in the summer and in the winter and it was a delightful experience no matter the weather. The sound of the waterfalls is so calming and masks away the sound of the cars around the reserve. The tea room is extremely charming and well run and organised, the owner seems extremely passionate about keeping it traditional and cosy. I had a traditional cream tea which was a bit expensive for a scone and a cup of tea, but the room and the atmosphere made it worth it. There is a large piano giving the room elegance and the music they chose is perfect for a relaxing afternoon. It gives Rochdale a bit of life for sure.

Absoluty lovely place. Fantastic food, gorgeous and quant place.. My friends and I (23) of us walked and ate at the tea rooms, this week, in celebration of 4 of the ladies 'special' birthdays. Lisa (owner) could not have been more accommodating of our group. We all had a wonderful afternoon, the food and the service really was/is very special at this place. It is well worth a visit..

First time visiting today for afternoon tea and to see Father Christmas. Absolutely fantastic. The kids loved Santa, he was very authentic and had plenty of time to talk to them which made it all the more magical. My daughter received a gift of lipgloss and nail polish (8years old) which she is super impressed with and my son was given a little toy bus (which he still hasn’t put down three hours later). Food was lovely - so much that the children brought some home for later. Staff were brilliant- nothing was too much effort. We went for a walk afterwards- the nature reserve is beautiful. Fabulous day all round. We will definitely be back. Massive thank you to all the team!

Lovely Tea room, on the pricy side but you can't put a price on the amazing ambiance.

Its a nice tearoom with a good selection of food and drink. It was let down by the loud guests and freezing temperatures.

Having recently moved to the area, we are delighted that we found this hidden gem! A lovely setting to enjoy a drink and some good food in the outside space! We came across it when my parents were here on their first visit to our new house whilst out walking and seeing what’s around and every time they now come to visit we always make sure to stop by! The staff are always so welcoming and our dogs especially love getting a treat! The dog clips on the benches are also a genius idea, more places should do this!!

Little gem! Upstairs tearoom afternoon tea was wonderful. The lemon cheesecake and scone stood out, they were outstanding but all of it was delicious. The staff were fantastic, they made us feel special and we had a little birthday surprise. Fantastic atmosphere and lovely setting.

Made to feel welcome and cosy on a damp Friday lunchtime, so much going on there, huge menu to chose from stunning scenery..perfect place to drop off to after a country walk. Steeped in history as though you walk back in time. There Christmas should be special

Cannot praise the Healey Dell Tea Rooms enough. They go the extra mile for their customers. Great customer service, wonderful food and fantastic atmosphere. They really are a jewel in the crown of Rochdale. We are regular visitors and we love the place. The tea rooms are well worth a visit!

Fantastic place - always love coming here whatever the occasion, casual or otherwise. So accommodating, we had a 9 month old, 6 year old, a dog and 2 90 year olds in our party of 7 and they catered for all!! We sat inside but I have sat outside before and both are great. It feels like a hidden gem but it’s actually usually pretty busy. Would recommend to anyone.

Excellent value for money! Very generous portions. Friendly welcome. As part of a large group (larger than booked/planned) we were warmly greeted by a friendly and attentive team. It’s a charming place with plenty of choice to suite many dietary requirements. Perfect after a refreshing cold dip in the nearby waterfall. Vegans won’t feel left out here! First time we have been to Healey Dell Tearoom but will definitely go again! The afternoon tea was lovely. The staff were friendly in fact couldn’t fault it in any way.

You just have to visit here, great food and drinks, unique location and so peaceful, just hear the sound of the river nearby and .....relax.

Family of 4, we had a lovely experience here! Firstly my 7 year old decided she wanted afternoon tea which we hadn’t pre booked and they went out of their way to accommodate her, and then despite us booked at 11, and the lunch menu not starting until 12 my husband really fancied the cheese and onion pie which they also catered for! Small things like this make such a difference and we will 100% be back! The food was also perfect! Thank you!

First time we’ve been to Healey Dell Tea rooms and we’ll certainly be going back. We had the afternoon tea which came out absolutely beautiful and tasted delicious. The decor and music in the tea room itself was amazing. Never been anywhere quite like it. So English and traditional. My Mum kept saying my Nan would have loved it here. What a lovely tearooms. Outdoor and indoor dining, well designed. Food brilliant. Multiple choice menu or booking for afternoon tea. Surrounded by nature. A place to visit, learn about the surrounding history, and take a walk. Waterfalls, Fairies Chapel, viaduct and many more wow factor views. You may be lucky and see a fairy. Come for it brew and bite to eat.

Beautiful tea rooms nestled in the stunning healey dell. The afternoon tea for kids is so much fun, they loved it. My daughter asked for some chocolate dipping sauce and they whipped it up there and then despite it not actually being included at the time. Staff are friendly and courteous and the owner makes sure everyone is happy, he comes round and makes sure to get to know everyone. Will be returning!

Great sound system outdoors. I covert their speakers. Lots of staff working hard to bring great food to happy customers. Lovely.

I got the deal on a groupon for the gold afternoon tea so it was half price (£25 pp) but if I paid full price I would have been very disappointed. The bread was slightly stale, gold chocolates were Cadbury milk tray with gold leaf added and the scone was very dry. Quiche was lovely though. Service was ok although the waitress started sweeping up around our table while we were still eating. Overall it was just ok.

Several staff walked past us without acknowledgement while we waited to be seated. The young person who did seat us after prompting was lovely. The covered area where we sat was lovely. It felt as though we were in the middle of the trees, with the sound of the stream below. The server who took our order seemed uncertain, and we had to repeat things for her to record in her tablet. Two of us had scones with jam and cream, which were very good. The tea was lovely, but my friends found the coffee a little too strong. The third person in our party ordered ice cream with sprinkles and a flake. A very small cornet was handed directly to her without any wrap or serviette. The sprinkles were very sparse, too. Apart from the small size of the icecream for the price, it was good value. Overall, we enjoyed our visit, and we look forward to visiting again.
