Simply the best breakfast anywhere. We’ve been going to Quench for some time now for breakfast and you can’t beat it. Always fresh and not greasy, the food is delicious. Coffee also excellent. And of course the staff are lovely.

I had seen numerous ads for this dog-friendly café, so I decided to visit for the first time right after it opened at 7:30 AM during my morning dog walk. While the site claims to be dog-friendly, there were signs indicating that dogs weren’t allowed in certain areas, and there was no one outside to clarify which areas those were. I also attempted to enter the café at 7:40 AM, but the doors were locked, and although staff inside saw us, they ignored us. I went to the kiosk to inquire about opening times and dog-friendly areas, but no one was available to help. After wandering around aimlessly for a bit, I left, feeling that the environment wasn’t very friendly or welcoming.

Visit regularly when we see my mum at local carehome. Asked for two coffees, did not specify what size. Mum, who has dementia wanted cake, as we were eating lunch later, I knew she couldn't have much. I saw sign that said free victoria sandwich with coffee. I asked owner if we could have a very small piece for mum. He said no, because you have a large coffee. You can pay for a slice if you want!!!! I didn't ask for a large coffee, and was asking for a very small piece to keep an old lady happy. Very poor customer service and very poor compassion.

I have frequented the Horseshoe, Croft, on a number of occasions. On entering you may be forgiven for thinking that you have fallen through a time warp and gone back in time. Textured walls, high picture rails with plates balanced precariously, sixties style chandeliers (no bulbs) and that smell of a real pub which can only be achieved after years of beer being spilled on the Axminister carpet. If you enter from the front you are met by a low ceiling with olde world beams. To the left there is a paneled room and ahead a small bar. I always enter from the rear, as is my want, and I am, usually, greeted by four or five regulars, sitting at the bar like a Grumble Weeds Reunion. All give a welcoming grunt before carrying on complaining about things like life, body parts which are causing them pain or the price of cumquats in Aldi. The food is tasty and wholesome and there is a good choice on the menu. However, if you are a regular ‘Eater’ I don’t suppose it would take you long to tick all of the dishes off. They tell me that the squirrel in aspic is a ‘Must Have’. As far as the staff are concerned, I cannot speak highly enough of them. All very enthusiastic and helpful and willing to give a candid opinion on your choice of food. Likewise, the bar staff are extremely amiable, and I would like to give a particular shout out to Hannah whose smile lights up the room and who runs a very tight ship. There is a good selection of beers and other refreshing, fizzy, beverages and a cask ale. All in all a great little place, good food, good beer, great staff and a welcoming atmosphere. Unless, of course, you bump in to Peruvian Pete, the three fingered Poker Dealer from Wigan.

Due to the 'Covid years' eating out has been at an absolute minimum for us but as this was a retirement 'do' we wanted to be there and found the food very good, the atmosphere was lovely and we will be coming back at some point without having a definite reason or date to honour but just cos we enjoyed the food and the atmosphere!

Took daughter and son in law out for lunch whilst they were visiting. Tapas was great. Sadly run out of prawns but the remaining dishes were great. Whipped feta v tasty with little crackers to spread it on. Chorizo in honey was amazing. Explosion of flavour. The plat of cold meats had lots of flavour. Good pickles and peppers on there. Some strongish blue cheese. Chicken wings were good possibly a bit cold. And of course patatas bravas. Lovely meal. Friendly team. Went for crepes for desert in the Xmas market after !

Waited over 40 mins for food, we ordered two roast beef dinners with extra potatoes. Firstly they brought the extra potatoes out first which where cold, few mins later the dinner arrived, the beef was very tough couldn’t cut it and the rest was cold , only thing hot was the extra pot of gravy. Staff seemed new as they didn’t really know what to do, apart from being told by some guy walking round on a laptop telling them what needed doing. When I complained I was either offered to have the meals recooked ( didn’t want to wait another 45 mins or a free dessert ( didn’t fancy a dessert after not eating my main. Still ended up paying for some thing I didn’t eat , very expensive for awful food , will not be returning !!
