This is the 2nd time I have been for dinner at Don Luigi’s after coming up from Cornwall to visit family. Once again the food did not disappoint, it’s so nice to go to an Italian restaurant and the food is authentic!! Compliments to the chefs once again. Waiting staff were brilliant. Look forward to visiting again!!

Food was superb. Drinks and service was amazing and the food was brilliant. Not only that but you could tell the chefs and waiters took extra care with their service to give you the best experience possible. Definitely returning!!

Food actually very good when it was eventually served. Forty min wait on arrival for anyone to take drinks order despite us being on time for pre booked table. Order for food taken one hour after arrival. Starters served one hour 30 mins after arrival. Restaurant needs a functioning kitchen extractor fan as eating area frequently filled will heavy smoke from grill during evening. Eyes affected as a result and clothes smell of smoke. Kitchen closes at 10pm and atmosphere feels as if you are compelled to leave quickly after that as staff want to go. Staff forgot to take desert order until we prompted and we felt awkward to order desert as staff were leaving from kitchen at 1015. If they sort service principles out the place could do well. Until they do, customers will feels as awkward eating there as we did. Pity as food is actually good but they appear to have a divide between kitchen and actual service on on offer.

Has gluten free options, which is greatly appreciated in any village. Staff were great, very friendly and made me feel comfortable

First visit here, went to meet up with friends we have not seen for ages. Excellent top quality food, served piping hot, on hot plates. Lovely restaurant, lovely staff, very friendly, will definitely return, and would highly recommend

Great food and genuinely Italian. Our pizzas were wonderful. The restaurant was quiet when we visited but it was still warm and welcoming with lovely food and attentive service.

As good as it’s ever been! My family and I have lived in Culcheth for 30+ years, but hadn’t been to Don Luigi’s since Santos passed away. We wondered how it would now compare and we were delighted this evening that the food is as good as ever. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough - the lasagne was terrific. Mina and her team are doing a great job… we’ll be back soon!

I have to admit that the food here was really good hearty Italian food but the waiting time was ridiculous. We had to ask the staff to take our orders as we'd been sat down on a small akward table, for way over half an hour without even ordering. The open kitchen is a nice idea but they haven't quite got the extraction right as I found it quite smokey which was irritating my eyes. And it wasn't just us that were getting aggravated by the wait times. Drama from the table next to us led to the customers being escorted out before even receiving their starters. There did seem to be a large party upstairs but if you can't cater for both the restaurant and functions, maybe you should focus on one or the other. Our bill was reduced slightly but it wasn't enough to make me want to rush back,to be honest we were too desperate to get out of there to debate the fact. Funny isn't it, because all it would have taken was some good customer service before hand, a warning that they were understaffed maybe, and an indication of longer waiting times than usual when we arrived. We then could have made the decision to stay or go elsewhere. As I pointed out earlier the food was great once it arrived and maybe we got really unlucky and they were just understaffed or something but non of the front of house staff seemed to know how to handle the situation so I certainly won't be returning in a hurry. If you are going to give it a go I would advise to ask about waiting times before you are seated.

Booked a table for 6 and by 7.30 they were looking to book another sitting in, waitress took no notice and felt squished and very rushed

I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into this charming little restaurant with bags of atmosphere, open views to kitchen so you can watch your food being cooked and very friendly staff. The internal decor would best be described as trying to conjure up a rustic Italian village feel, so do not expect a glitzy interior, but the food was fabulous. Vegan options (plural!) were available and exciting - and tasted great! Highly recommend this place if you are in vicinity. 2 visit review - I revisited this restaurant in Dec. 2023. It was again a lovely experience. The meal was again excellent and the service was brilliant; very friendly and quick to help. We could watch the chef's in the kitchen preparing all the meals, which arrived in a good time after ordering. Definitely look forward to returning again in the future.

I reaaally wanted to like this place as it’s local to me and has good reviews. It took an hour and a half for my starter to even reach my table and the food was dry and mediocre at best. Trying to get service or even noticed by any of the wait staff seemed impossible. Maybe I caught them on a bad night but it really ruined the whole experience and doesn’t make me want to come back.

Lovely, place however my daughters are not well and have an upset tummy after eating from here . Do not recommend when they were being sick all night . Don’t recommend.

Eaten here tonight (Tuesday) , very quiet but the best Italian meal I've had in ages . King Prawn starter on our table hit the spot thanks , Meatball main amazing.

We used to be regulars here but over the months we’ve gone less & less due to the excessive wait to get your food. Anyhow we thought we’d try it again last Friday night. Sadly it was a disappointment. 2 adults & 2 kids for a Birthday celebration, the restaurant was fairly quiet, with no manager on shift, just two young females who were slow with the drinks, had absolutely nothing to say, with no atmosphere what so ever. I always have the Tagliatelle Fiilletto, and despite still being £15, the portion size has been dramatically reduced with very little meat in the dish. The kids enjoyed their pizzas but we were in less than an hour. Was it worth the £100, absolutely not.

Authentic Italian experience in every way

Visited whilst working in the area, it is a lovely friendly little restaurant. The staff were welcoming and helpful. I had a gluten free pizza which was freshly cooked and very tasty.

Not been since Covid, however, no change in my assessment. It's 10/10 again. Delicious food, good portions, the sea bass was amazing (highly recommended). Lovely evening.

Fantastic food, Fantastic service, fantastic place to eat

We really wanted to like this place as the atmosphere is great and it is local to us. Unfortunately we waited over an hour and a half for our main course, which we would’ve been fine with if the food was good - but unfortunately it fell short. Everything was over cooked and under seasoned. It seems most of the regulars ordered pizza & pasta so we may return to try this, but the seabass & chicken specials we had were very over cooked and not particularly tasty.

Too expensive for what it is.. Also it was freezing cold in there.. Wouldn't t go back again.. Food not that good..

Excellent food always good, very slow took 20min to give order then over 30min till starter arived and nearly an hour for mains from empty starter plates going then had to ask for bill 4 times added another 30min, think they need an extra cook

Family meal out, all clean plates, beautiful food, excellent service (Eloise) and well priced. I had the special of mussels in a white wine cream sauce to start, would highly recommend that if you're visiting!

Not a bad place and nice staff but there were bugs on the table. Also I asked for peppers, onions and chillies on the pizza for which they added £6 on for (£2 per extra) but there were no chillies and barely any of the peppers and onions. A friend paid for the meal before we realised they had done so but otherwise I would have asked for money off the bill. Disappointing as apart from that it was a nice meal.

Great menu, ribs to die for, lovely affable staff and served by the pleasant Eloise AKA Tirami—su. 😀overall a very pleasant dining experience.

Cafe/bistro style food at Restaurant prices The service was average, the food was the reason for review we had goats cheese and chutney should of read chutney with goats cheese as far to much chutney, the pate was delicious and the meat ball starter was like mush. The mains myself and friend had chicken which was dry, the linguini gamberitti was over cooked and therefore like slop, the garlic bread came nearly at the end of main course, also felt expensive charging restaurant prices in a cafe style Italian. I think what speaks louder than Anything when previously owned was always busy and sometimes having to queue, this Saturday half full and no one upstairs all the other restaurants busy as we passed , to sum up expensive for below average food and poor presentation.

2nd time visiting since new ownership and in my opinion it is so much better than before! We are always greeted with a warm welcome. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Food is excellent, much better than than the other Italian in the village! I would certainly recommend it, you won't be disappointed.

The new owners and team are fab! We’ve supported this restaurant lot’s over the years. I really like what the new owners have done with the place and have loved every single one of our last 3 visits. We went again today. The food (3 courses) was again devine - super talented new chef who checked in on us, my son was using his finger to lick his plate 🤦‍♂️. The service from the owner and our waitress was attentive and amazing. What I have always loved about this place is it’s a rustic, authentic and welcoming feeling Italian restaurant that serves amazing food. The new owners have retained those long standing aspects whilst adding an extra bit of stardust of there own. Loved it tonight and the prior to occasions we have been since the new owners took over. Well done 👏.

Lovely food, was recommended the Calazone by an ex colleague who is a regular at Don Luigis - he has been dining there for the last 20 years - and it did not dissapoint! good atmosphere, hope to visit again one day :-)

Fabulous evening for daughters birthday. Food was amazing and very generous portions. Seafood pasta was very tasty with loads of prawns, mussels and tuna in. My husband had the tomato and bacon tagliatelle which he said was really good. Not rushed and friendly efficient service. Will definitely be back.

Disappointed with meal for the price! We read the reviews and have to agree! Come on this is supposed to be an Italian!! Your pizzas were awful! We came here 5 years ago and enjoyed it but after this experience we won’t return!!! Staff were lovely though

Haven’t been for a few months, but what an improvement since the refurbishment. Still the same cosy atmosphere with great food at a great price. Garlic bread with cheese and half tomato is our favourite starter followed by the lasagna.

I’m quite precious about my Italian food and have become one of those adhoc reviewers, where I’ll only make a point of leaving a review of they make an ‘impression’.This restaurant has a great authentic Italian menu! Only noticed the specials board afterwards, who’s recommended looking before ordering!! I would advise calling ahead as it’s only a small establishment. Staff were friendly and service was quick.The food was unreal! Seafood tasted so fresh, presentation was beautiful! I would highly recommend. (No pics as I ate it too quickly ha!)

Always good. Straight forward Italian in a good atmosphere. No frills but clean, well cooked food which isnt overpriced. Owner is a nice guy and good with the kids. Never had a problem, been going on and off for the last 25 years.

Back to its best. The food was delicious and always a great family atmosphere. Best local Italian by a mile.

Having read some of the reviews I was very sceptical about eating here, but we were pleasantly surprised.Our food was superb, six meals and each one of us said the same, one of the best we've had. It's true the place is quite small, but we didn't feel cramped and the service was friendly and prompt despite the restaurant being quite busy. The only thing which was a bit annoying was a young child playing on a phone game all evening, complete with loud sound effects, but that's hardly the fault of the restaurant!I would definitely come back.
