Went for the well advertised Doggy Menu and dog friendly place but sadly was disappointed. The hot doggy dinner on the dog menu is only on Sundays but I can’t find where it says that anywhere. The dog bowls for water on a table weren’t very clean. Good selection of dog treats though and all natural which was really good. The dog sausages were good quality but cold and brought out well after our food to the point we thought they’d forgotten about them. We waited around 40 mins between starter and main course. Food was nice. Staff weren’t rude but also not friendly. Visit was ok but wouldn’t go out of the way again to go.

This was our favourite place for a Sunday roast but not anymore. We visited with family and it has completely changed. The service was extremely slow and staff were just standing around. The food was just average, not much flavour and lack of veg for a roast dinner. The price has increased considerably since we lasted visited, not worth the new price at all. We will not be returning anytime soon.

We popped in for lunch yesterday after seeing they had a new chef and we wanted to try their new roast's. We have the beef and it's by far the best we've had yet. The carrot & suede mash was incredibly tasty too. We followed our mains with a creme brûlée and then finished off with two americanos. The perfect dining experience.

We frequently visit The Culcheth Arms, and the food has always been really good…especially the Culcheth/Southern fried chicken, which I had last night. We went today, as a new Sunday menu was being launched by a relatively new set of chefs and kitchen staff. We weren’t disappointed by the new menu. We had roast striploin of beef, confit pork belly, accompanied by spring veg, Yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese, rosemary and garlic goose fat roasted potatoes, carrot and swede mash with ample gravy. The meal was finished off with a dark chocolate delice, cookie, affogato and a fantastic crème brûlée. Thankyou to Charlotte, Jenny, Rowena and the rest of the team. Sarah and family x

Decided to venture down the road for a night local date night, started off well. when checking in, we found there was a 40 min wait for food which wasn’t too bad so happily sat down. despite being lots of empty tables we were squished between two full tables on either side of us. hardly enough room to breathe, made the pair of us feel anxious knowing that both tables can listen in on our conversations and were very conscious that one person sat on the table next to us kept staring at us, kinda ruined the atmosphere. we ordered a cheesy flatbread which came quickly and the half with the cheese was absolutely gorgeous, however the half of it was just burnt bread. after this, we were sat waiting an extra 50 mins for our mains, sat with empty glasses too. no waitress came near for us to even ask if we want another drink so we went to the bar. waitresses seemed to just be gabbing with each other or the regulars. we clearly had a member of staff sat next to us as one of the waitresses, i want to say a head waitress or even manager, came over and slagged one of the other members of staff off, also stating the toilets hadn’t been cleaned one night. speaking of which, i went in the ladies and they were absolutely disgusting, no toilet roll in two of the three and the third had a lovely log left in it - fair enough not the staffs fault but still. when our food came, the portions were ridiculously small. we had a burger that came with about ten undercooked chips and a cold sunday dinner with a drizzle of gravy on it, charging for extra. after waiting over 50 mins for food, i’d at least want it hot. portions other than gravy were okay, wouldn’t phone home about it though and the lack of gravy made it extremely dry. no waitress came over to check if it was okay, asked if we wanted another drink, or even came near for us to ask any questions. awful service considering there was about 6 tables in. we ate it as we were starving, and when we finally got the attention of someone for the bill - they add an optional service fee. usually, this is something you can select on a card reader yourself, however the waitress basically guilt tripped you into paying it even though they didn’t help us at all. it’s an awkward situation to put someone in, and not fair when staff don’t deserve the tip. i’m someone more than happy to pay a tip if i’m happy with the service, however this time i really wasn’t and nobody asked me the whole time. considering it’s a small local pub, you’d expect the staff to know to be happy and friendly, meet customer service levels and instead of being rude. you’d expect it from a big chain maybe, certainly not this. would not recommend, would not go again, wouldn’t think twice.

Under cooked chips and earthy potatoes , burger was like rubber (butchers burger) doesn't mean they're good. It wasn't. Steak pie filling was lovely, pastry undercooked and stodgy. The staff don't like complaints and i wasn't comfortable after complaining. Prices are expensive for pub food so you would at least expect it to be half decent. I came out still hungry and disappointed. I had to feed my daughter when we got home. She didn't like anything on her plate. I wouldn't recommend the place and I won't be wasting my money going there again.

Situated within the small town of Culcheth, this pub is easy to reach on foot or drive to (with its own, free, car park). If going for evening meal, it might be best to book ahead, but there is plenty of space if just popping in for a drink too. They often have a range of standard and guest beers, which adds interest. They often have real fires burning (they have two in each of the main rooms), which makes it lovely to sit by the fire on a cold, wet evening with a pint chatting with friends. Generally, the atmosphere has been friendly and relaxed when I have visited, making it a nice place to visit.

The food was disappointing. We had to send the "hand rolled" pizza back to be cooked more as the base was completely white and the cheese barely melted. The pizza lacked flavour and was generally not nice. The dirty fries left much to be desired and we're topped with BBQ sauce, cheese and bacon. Again the cheese was barely melted. The popcorn chicken from the bar snacks section was very nice. Lovely batter and tasty. The cappuccino I ordered was scalded and needed to cool down until near the end of the meal before it was a drinkable temperature. It was disappointing to find that the fire was not lit in the dining room leading to the room to be quite chilly, especially on a November evening. The staff were great, very pleasant and apologetic about the food. Hopefully the above is just a one off but this was my first time eating here in a few years and I don't think I'll be returning.

We had to wait a while for our meals to come but when they did the portions were small. I had two very small slices of beef. None the less the food was tasty and very hot. You had the option to pay for extra food but as this was our first time I didn’t realise that the portions were small. We had to ask for the desert menu after we had waited for an age. The staff did not ask if everything was ok with the meal and brought the bill rather than the dessert menu. I have given a rating of average but it was a little above that and I will give it another go. Just hope the staff are more attentive and potions control up there game.

Hubby had to return his meal today because he asked for a plain chicken burger, and it came with everything, but it was no problem and it was sorted. Prebooked The Culcheth Arms for a family Christmas Meal and they absolutely did not disappoint. The set course Christmas menu was amazing with everybody attending more than happy with their food and service. Would most definitely recommend.

Firstly, I cannot fault the food. It was delicious. Staff were friendly, maybe a little slow but possibly under staffed. Overall a ok experience. We were just a little disappointed in the fact that this was mine and my Dad’s early “Christmas Dinner” together and we were expecting the Christmas menu. We did enquire about this to be told they only did it by pre-orders, which unless it’s in the small print, was not advertised on the website when I pre booked the table. We also had to leave dessert due to the staff being slow to serve, in what appears to be a fairly quiet pub.

Yet another fantastic burger, side chips and coleslaw. One or two pints of " Old Peculiar" and a wood burner.

A little bit cold inside but we were in very early so no problems really. The food was excellent, the best pub pies I can remember eating! Good service and very clean. Highly recommended.
