Amazing service at the peacock today such a lovely homely atmosphere and Sion, Debbie and Beth went above and beyond today. Sasha has done amazing with her team and this pub.

The manager had such a disgusting attitude to be honest was actually in utter disbelief how she spoke to us. Need to change the tip back to the person who earned it gets it. Because our waitress was lovely but knowing it gets shared we lowered the tip purely because that manager did not deserve it. The blonde waitress on Saturday night was lovely and deserves all her tips solely. It’s not fair to be shared with people who don’t deserve it or contribute to it. My son was also upset, tired and hungry and 2 years old crying. Comments from a grown man was made. This rude manage goes and apologises to the man who told me to leave please bare it mind myself and his dad was trying to ease the situation. Another shocking move from management. She then goes and clears a table a sends a different waiter over to say I could more. Like no, unsure if it was her friends or not. The manager also failed to correspond that there was a 45 minute wait in food. My son and the other child was very hungry and didn’t eat until 7:30 when we ordered at 6:30 none the wiser there was a wait because we would have left given the experience. First and last time I’ll be going there tbh

This pub has many problems first off we booked two days ago and it turned chaotic leading to us leaving second off the pool table is the worst possible thing someone can do how can you have a dart board then in the middle of the whole room stick a pool table there removing tables and leading to more people stood round distracting everyone from eating.You pay high end service just to receive poor low quality service this pub is going to pieces how can you turn such a lovely nice pub to into a manic uncontroling pub full of idiots with no clue what to do and can’t control your kids it’s stupid

Food was brilliant, atmosphere is great and there was one waitress called Beth who went above and beyond for us. She was friendly and professional. A massive credit to the Peacock.

Edit for 2025. Unfortunately after many years of loyal service to the restaurant. Tonight was a little bit of a let down. Upon arrival we were ignored by a male staff member. Who would be our server for this evening. And from there it just went from bad to worse. From wrong orders. Snappy/stressed staff and then wrong food delivered to the table. However. BIG however. When trying to find a different staff member to converse with. Debbie stepped up. Debbie made sure the rest of the evening was smooth sailing. She made the kids feel welcome. She made the stress of the previous hours disappear and she overall made the night. After we had all packed up and ready to leave. I spoke with Debbie and she is just a delight. I can honestly say the evening was made so much better just by her being so kind and thoughtful. Thank you so much again Debbie.

With a heavy heart I write this been coming here for years and the last few visits have gradually got worse .tonight it was like a zoo never seen anything like it . Agree with mr Tomlin’s comments . We booked over48hrs ago to been show to a tiny table near the pool table which is an absolute nuisance in my eyes a step to far . Hope things improve but tbh can’t see it

Overall the food was lovely (apart from the chips they were a little hard and dry) but everything else was really nice. The staff were also really pleasant. The one thing that let it down was we was waiting ages for our drinks and food. We ordered via the app and after 20 mins or so my husband had to get up and ask at the bar where our drinks were (we had 3 small children with us so u can imagine they was complaining they was thirsty) he got to the till to be told the computer got the order but didn't print it off so they did so straight away and apologised. ( something technology can be amazing other times it can be dreadful ) I do understand. But if we wasn't to of got up and asked where our drinks and meals were then god knows how long we could of been sat there for.

Called in when passing and received excellent service and the food was pretty good as well. Nice and quiet at the time! Would come back!

Came for lunch with my partner and friends, went to order and several items from the menu were not available. Fair enough. Ordered our meals and my partner came across a piece of melted plastic in her peas… approached management without making a scene and asked what the object was only for management to be extremely rude and abrupt about the whole thing. Insinuating that the plastic had been placed in the meal by my partner and that “they do not deal with any foreign objects in their kitchen” the manger then stated she will investigate offering no compensation or meal replacement. The manager then proceeded to say that it is not from their kitchen and said “don’t argue with me” not a great way to speak to customers who have spent nearly £100 between them. Rude customer service and poor attitude from a manager who has worked at the establishment for 3 years as she stated. Hope she rectifies her attitude when she deals with the next customer… and hopefully they don’t choke on the foreign object either!!!

Sasha has an attitude problem. Made complaint about plastic in my food and she kinda made it like i put it there. Saying don't argue with her. Don't expect to be spoken to like that when dining out Wont be returning please save your money.

Went for my birthday for lunch as hubby is working tonight. We had a really lovely time. All meals were brought out real quick considering it was quite busy. Served quick at the bar. Will definitely be back

Here we go again so many 5 star reviews from new members who just reviewed The Peacock. Yet again horrid experience. Family had booked due to the improved reviews. Meal was delayed, poor quality and unhelpful staff Used to be the best pub for food after work or lunchtime but now it’s just a disgrace. Hopefully Marsdens will see the poor profits and give the locals our pub back

We were there for the regular Tuesday night open mic session, really nice atmosphere. Massive car park for the shopping centre next to it. (Make sure you put your car reg number in at the bar)

I don't know what's happened but the food quality has gotten so so bad. My prawn cocktail had rotten lettuce in it. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. But all 3 of us felt ill the next day after our main meals. Don't get the cheese burger!! It's a genuine shame as the staff are absolutely lovely and it's a nice pub but the food is horrifically bad, poor quality and way over priced. You know it's bad when you think we should have gone to maccies. Genuine shame

I've been here countless of times and every time the service was stellar. Particularly Beth as she really does put effort and treated me nicely from the get go. Food is really tasty and a good amount for the tagged price. Super easy to find a spot to park your car as well. Last but not least, the music is pleasant, with a nice choice of songs, but thankfully is not too loud, and you can actually hear your thoughts for a change, I really appreciate that aspect as well. All in all highly recommended!

None of the food was hot. The sprouts were overcooked. The roast parsnips were not crispy. The roast potatoes were alright but luke warm. The turkey was really dry and there was ver little gravy. There was one small piece of brocoli and one carrot. There was no crispness at all to the yorkshire pudding; in fact, I have never had worse. All in all an atrocious meal. Fortunately the starter and dessert were lovely.

My deposit for booking my table wasn't taken off my food bill, then they wouldn't refund it, then I was offered to either buy morr food and drinks to redeem it which I had no intention of doing or a voucher that I'd have to use within two months. I wasn't happy with this and said vouchers are usually at least for 6months so the manager extended it to 6 months. I would much rather of had my money refunded as it has just been Christmas and you were quite happy to take it off me and I know other people who booked this event and they weren't asked to pay a deposit. Then my philly steak sandwich arrived well done not medium rare, I then pointed this out they told me it would be 3 to 4 minutes it was not it was around 15/20mins+ and everyone else had finished by the time it had arrived I checked and it was even more well done than the last one, I again pointed this out and the man serving apologised and said they could do it again to which I said I am starving and everyone has already finished I can't wait again for this to happen again. Steak is not difficult to cook I could do it better myself he said he would see what he could do and he then never came back so I had to eat it as I had nothing else. The only good thing about the event was the entertainer he was excellent and the only reason we stayed. I don't really want to go back to use my voucher and would still want a refund and something done about the terrible service. Not stocked up on gluten free lager for new yrs eve also is disappointing.

Been our local since moving in to Birchwood at the end of the summer, can't fault the place or the staff, had Christmas lunch there yesterday and it was fantastic, all the staff are great and go above and beyond to provide fabulous food and drinks. 10/10, they all deserve a decent Christmas bonus 🧑‍🎄🎉🌲

Staff were friendly but the main course of the Christmas dinner wasn't good, my mum had to send hers back as it was cold, the vegetables were really hard not cooked, the dinner wasn't the best at all I left most of mine as it was too dry even with more gravy, the vegan main course came with yorkshire pudding which isn't vegan, the first course vegan option came with cheesy bread again which isn't vegan, the sweet that was ordered as vegan Christmas pudding wasn't and had to be sent back. The decor of the pub needs restoration especially the tables they really were not fit to eat off as the top layer of the wood has come off on most of the tables and there is no varnish just bare wood which gave me a splinter. It would have been better if they put table cloths over. We also had to wait ages for the food. Again the staff were really friendly and helpful, the pub needs new tables and some renovation and staff need to ensure the right food is given to customers as if the person had an allergy things could have been different.

Christmas day 3 course meal for 9 people. One with allergens perfectly catered for. Everyone loved the food, well cooked and plentiful. Thanks to all the staff for all their hard work on such a busy day. Absolutely faultless and a really happy atmosphere. Well done and merry Christmas to you all.

Booked the 3 course Christmas meal for a family get-together and found the lack of Christmas atmosphere and table decoration very disappointing. On a positive note, the food was lovely and the waiting time perfect.

Works Xmas meal. Courses took forever to arrive, obviously I understand to an extent as they want us to use the bar more...same most places. But the food felt like was reheated, even rubbery roast potatoes. Service was poor also waited 15 mins for gravy for the meal...ended uk going to the bar and asking the barman...he was the best bit about this experience, he got things done where the waiting service staff seemed clueless. No pics to add....food wasn't worthy of it. Won't use this place again, poor experience

Beth’s dedication to her job is amazing. Even though she wasn’t feeling her best, she still gave her all to ensure everyone was taken care of.

I recently visited The Peacock, and it was quite busy, but Danielle truly made the experience memorable! She was amazing, attentive, and really added to the overall enjoyment of our meal. The food was great, with a variety of delicious options that didn't disappoint. The atmosphere was also pleasant, creating a nice vibe for a night out. Overall, I would highly recommend The Peacock for a lovely dining experience!

Thought I'd try it as so many people rate it,I found it reasonably priced but after a long wait I found it very disappointing, maybe I chose the wrong day.

Wonderful food and drink with light entertainment thrown in. Our waitress was Debby, and she couldn't do enough for us.

We booked online and had to reschedule twice, the staff were so polite & accommodating, it wasn't a problem, which took the guilt of us! They also kept in touch prior to the bookings, which is helpful. The Barperson (with the lovely gothic xmas jumper!) was really helpful as soon as we walked in, no awkward waiting near the door. Pointed out our reserved table straight away. She also took our order, friendly & pleasant, yet quick & accurate. The food was very nice and good value, the pizza had to be homemade (not frozen/bought in bulk), which is impressive for pub food (I'll be having that next time!). I wouldn't normally choose macaroni cheese, but I would definitely come back just for this! Especially with the BBQ pulled pork - it was delicious! The venue was busy for a Thursday lunch, but not noisy, we could still chat quietly. There was a very well-behaved dog under a table nearby, so dog-friendly venue. All ground floor, so considerately accessible. All in all, it was a good meal out, just wish we could leave work & visit more often! Thank you to The Peacock Team.

Absolutely terrible roast beef dinner , frozen veg warmed in a microwave. I complained and was offered vouchers . I declined I'd never go there again.

Excellent food 👌 need more staff on when busy took a while to order food. Unable to open a tab at the bar, had to pay for drinks then food then coffee's.

The experience overall was good. The staff were warm and friendly, the space was clean and welcoming and the food and drinks came out quicky and was generally of a good standard. My only criticism’s would be that the dirty plates took a while to be cleared, some staff brought food and drinks out but didn’t take away old, finished with, dirty plates and glasses. And whilst the app ordering service was generally straightforward and easy to use, when you went to order another drink it automatically re-added your previous food order. If you were busy and not paying attention you would end up with a second meal and double the charge, which is not great. I think you need to never reload the previous order, or at least check that they do actually want the full order again, which logically, particular with a food order, is unlikely.

Ordered two steaks with the healthy option which meant no chips no onion rings or peas, the alternative was a chefs salad with dressing and Brown rice, quinoa and beans. When the meals arrived there was no sign of any Brown rice but the was a small amount of quinoa with 3-4 beans in the salad which looked like the salad leaves had been left out from the night before! The Rump steak had a form of seasoning on it which wasn’t asked for nor was on the menu description! The steak was cooked ok but seamed firm as if it had been warmed up. The staff tried to be helpful which was reassuring but the meal had been spoilt by sub standard ingredients. This is our local when we go shopping and has usually been ok but not this time.

Quiet day, but unfortunately had to wait for someone to notice that we twiddling our fingers for the food to arrive. Fish was okay, but had about an inch of batter surrounding it , which was a little tough to chew. Chips were a little over done, but couldn't be bothered to send it back. So we paid, and went across the carpark for chicken, chips and gravy at Roast.

The food was awful, me & my partner ordered sandwiches with cheese chips which we payed extra for 79p and the fact you only get about 7 chips, so the food came out my baguette was burnt the chicken was burnt also stated Hunter's Chicken Melt but it clearly wasn't buttered chicken as stated on the menu it was just one piece of chicken goujon in the baguette, it is shame really as we have been before and never had a problem but today wasn't great at all

I am utterly gobsmacked as to how i have arrived at your establishment on pizza night and you were not serving pizzas. Furthermore, all mixed grills and sirloin steaks could not be ordered either. This was the only reason I travelled 2 hours and I am quite frankly disappointed.

We visited here on Sunday for our daughters birthday. This is her favourite pub, unfortunately the food wasn't the greatest, there was a very unpleasant smell coming from the toilet area. We asked to get move because of the smell. The staff did that straight away. The food took ages to come out, my husbands pizza was left on the side. Couldn't find any staff to tell them his pizza was sat there a good while. Most of our party had nearly finished there meals before this came out.

A really good lunchtime visit after a walk around and on the local Moss's. Service spot on with goid food and ale on offer. Will definitely return and I heartily recommend the hostelry!

Came here for some drinks with family on our sons 18th. Our son was treated so well by the staff, and had an amazing time(as did we all). Regular customers (whom we had never met before) even joined in our celebrations! The food was delicious too. An absolutely brilliant time and amazing bar staff.
