The Stag at Walton in Warrington

Very busy so advise to book, lovley food and service. Would go again.

Definitely more of a place to get a drink than eat. We went in on a Sunday at 5:30 and there were no Sunday roasts left. The menu is pretty limited, the burger I had was average and considering the price poor. The woman who served us had pretty poor manners but did the job. There are screens absolutely everywhere. I won’t be coming back to eat but definitely would to drink and watch sport.

Food was amazing, although very busy I would advise booking, the service and friendliness of the staff was great couldn't be better, nice bit of live music from 9 that was a bonus, we will be back with our dog

Hi ..l feel that have to leave a comment recommending the stag to anyone thinking of calling in for food..On Friday l called in to sample the new menu ,l decided on the steak and Guinness pie and OMG l can honestly say it was the best pie lv had in any pub in a long time so highly recommended..then after work today as my partner was out with friends l decided on using the takeaway service and ordered the beef dinner..rang up arrived 20 minutes late and it was ready for collection..got home and yeat again amazing..this pub has everything going for itself..amazing staff and gorgeous food..well done to the STAG 👍

Great food friendly staff couldn't do enough for you

Pretty bad food. The burgers were uneatable. So a waste of money. However it was busy so presumably other people feel differently. The staff seemed overworked and were abrupt. Not pleasant.

5/5 16th October 2024 ‘Wandering Wednesday’ this week took Hubster Neil and I to ‘The Stag’ at Walton. It’s been a good number of years since we were last there. We decided not to have starters this week as it can make you very full indeed! Neil had Steak in Guinness homemade pie, with chips, garden peas and thick rich gravy…..it was PACKED to the brim with big tender chunks of beef and covered with a light fluffy pastry…… Neil said he would definitely have it again. I had a ‘Big Bird’ burger, a thick buttermilk, butterflied chicken breast, with crispy panko crumbs, it was on a bed of lettuce, the burger had a layer of melted cheese on top, followed by a hash brown, two thick rashers of bacon and BBQ sauce, all sandwiched between a large seeded brioche toasted bun….. held together with a wooded skewer! it also came with a side of homemade coleslaw….. I upgraded my chips to potato Tots, I had mine salt and pepper style with peppers and onions…..it was all very tasty indeed and remained piping hot until the last bite….. I also would have this again. The pub is Olde Worlde and very clean and tidy….. the staff who served us, Laura behind the bar and Wendy who was our server, both were very attentive, extremely polite, friendly but professional…..they are a credit to this establishment…. Thank you Ladies…. Would we return?….. That’s a definite YES! xxx❤️

Fantastic Sunday lunch! Wonderful choice and very reasonably priced. The food was piping hot and a very generous serving, great selection of fresh vegetables and extra gravy! Staff were really welcoming, great atmosphere, excellent service from Wendy our waitress, a real traditional pub!

Just had a light lunch at the Stag with our dog. Very welcoming and dog friendly. Staff were lovely as was the food - particularly the spicy carrot soup. Will certainly be dropping in again. Thanks to The Stag team.

Having had lunch there a few weeks ago with a friend I booked for a meal for me and my husband. The atmosphere was nice and the staff and service were outstanding. My husband had a steak and being vegan I had the salad. He enjoyed his steak and he’s really fussy about how they are cooked but said it was great. My salad was ok but was 99% lettuce with half a cherry tomato and a few slithers of onion. I’d had it at lunch and it was much better. It’s a lot to charge £11.95 for lettuce but I’m sure it will be better next time and we will definitely return. Certainly worth a visit

Excellent food and first class service from all the staff and in particular Andy the manager. Very helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

Dropped in on the off chance that we might get a table. We were lucky. Staff were so lovely, food was beautiful and such a lovely atmosphere. We will most definitely be back.

Had a roast dinner beef & my husband had 3 meat platter was very disappointed with the beef it was so tough found it difficult to cut through & roast potatoes which I normally love was hard to cut through & overcooked .We have been coming many years & loved it but was extremely Disappointed today .THE THREE MEAT PLATTER WAS LESS MEAT THAN MINE ON THE POSITIVE SIDE I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM THE NEW MANAGER TO LOOK INTO WHAT WAS WRONG .THAT REALLY IMPRESSED ME TO CHANGE MY REVIEW PERHAPS I WILL GIVE IT ANOTHER CHANCE

Always love a good roast on a Sunday. Thought I would try the Stag. Been years since my last roast dinner there. It was perfection , fron the home cooked roast potatoes, Gravy , side orders and the meat. 10/10 be back again next week. Staff and service 10/10. Lovely pub and food 👌

We have just had our first visit to The Stag and will definitely be returning! The food was fabulous! We both had sirloin steak, cooked to perfection; tomatoes, mushrooms and the best chips I've had in a very long time! The service was very prompt, with friendly and efficient staff. We've promised ourselves that we will return before long.

Service was very good. Food was cooked well. Was disappointed with my Supreme of Chicken it was a small portion for the price, definitely needs either more dauphinois potatoes or vegetables.

The Stag serves a great breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings, it’s not a vast menu, but should suit most people’s tastes. The food is of excellent quality, freshly cooked to order. We ( four of us ) chose the main breakfasts and the Wraps, all served by very friendly and efficient staff, in great surroundings. We can highly recommend the Stag at Walton.

Andy has been a regular face each time we have been to the stag. Have to say he's great at what he does. Pays attention to what the customer needs and will assist anyway E,g when coming here at first asked If there was any allergies (which my partner does) and was very helpful. Always a pleasure to come in with great friendly staff (not just Andy they are all great) Recommended to friends and family.

Lovely atmosphere and staff. Just a little pricey

This was my first visit here. The staff are friendly and polite and showed us to our table, We ordered our food and drinks. We didn't wait long and our food was served. This has got to be the worst food I have ever had anywhere. It was overcooked microwave food and was inedible! I complained and it was taken away and I was given a fresh meal that was only slightly better. We ordered the warm frangipane, this was served cold. We mentioned this and it was taken away and warmed up in the microwave. I won't visit here again and I imagine if they carry on serving such awful food alot of other customers won't bother returning. 5 stars to the serving staff but sack the so called chef!!!

booked a table for 2 online, which was very easy. Got to the pub, was seated straight away, and drinks order was taken all the staff were very friendly. We both ordered Sunday roast, and the quality was excellent for the price.The Yorkshire puddings were the best I have ever had. Over all well worth a visit we will be returning 😊

Lovely food well cooked. Good menu choices and love the idea of the weekend breakfast menu. Seating on different levels and in little nooks as well as the main area adds to the atmosphere.

We have just visited The Stag for the first time and really enjoyed it. Our waitress was Laura who was lovely and very efficient. We ordered food and drinks for the 3 of us, two adults and one child. They arrived in quick time and all 3 were gorgeous. The people around us were really chatty and friendly. I recommend this pub to anybody because I couldn't fault it in any way. Stephen.

First time visiting in years and was glad we stopped after a long drive. Family of 4 (2 adults 2 children). Great food, service and atmosphere. It was very good value for money. Will certainly now visit more often.

Breakfast at 11.15am Wasn't as full as expected. Quick service. Order taken at bar. Arrived within 10 mins. Very hot and extremely fresh. Well cooked. Fabulous amount for price. Good pot of tea. Easy to recommend. Been a few times and all times excellent

Booked for a meal tonight (Thursday) to meet a friend for the "Feast Thursday" deal. We arrived and were told that the offer is no longer on, despite still being listed on the website. Not happy at all, as this was the only reason for us dining here. Luring customers in under false pretense and then not honouring the offer after we had arrived.

Absolutely will never return to this restaurant at The Stag I received my food after quite a long wait only to discover that I had not 1 but 2 long hairs in my food. I have to say they were apologetic but that doesn't compensate for the hair. I noticed that the kitchen staff do not wear hairnets if they have long hair. I am disgusted and felt sick

I used to love coming here before covid19. My husband and I were frequent visitors, even after he died in 2017 I regularly called in for lunch or early evening meal. I've not been for a while due to my very busy lifestyle and work schedule. I noticed on Facebook that they were starting to do breakfast at weekends and thought I'd give it a try. I really wanted to give 5 stars but unfortunately things did not go well. I have to admit they really went out of their way to make ammends but unfortunately first impressions tend to stick. I will in the future try again, and hopefully I can give 5 stars approval next time

We celebrated my partner's 40th birthday yesterday and all I can say the Stag is fantastic, the family love home cooked food and that is exactly what we got. Would highly recommend in a heartbeat and we will be back to try the new menu, thank you to the staff on the back of a busy period for taking care of us

Andy and his team were able to accommodate a reception after my Fathers funeral recently. They were so respectful and couldn’t do enough to help us. The food was excellent. It was a lovely end to a difficult day. Thank you Andy and to your team.

I love the atmosphere in The Stag and return time and time again!! At this time of year there is a welcoming fire in the conservatory which adds to the cosy ambiance. The staff are really friendly and helpful

Had a lovely 3 course Christmas meal with close friends on a very busy Saturday night. The staff were very busy but we were kept informed the whole evening of any delays etc so we were able to relax and enjoy the short wait as it was explained each time (staff sickness on this occasion). However this did not deter anyone on shift and the food and service were spot on from start to finish. Very good Highly recommended for sure.

Had a fabulous meal, excellent value for money as it was the Thursday Feast night. The service was great and friendly, and the food was delicious. The portion sizes were generous. Thoroughly recommend it. Bon appetit!

Really nice and cosy inside. Tuesday they have 2-4-1 on meals and and cocktails and there is an offer on a Thursday for a free starter and dessert I believe with a main. Nice little pub

Lovely place. We just called in for something to eat and had a really nice meal.

We had a good meal but were disappointed when we queried about the offer of a free starter or pudding with each meal as advertised, but was disappointed to learn that it was only if you ordered a three course meal. The advert was misleading

OK first getting told there's a 45 min wait for food as you walk in wasnt the best, i saw another couple leave and move on, they wasnt full. However, plus points for honesty other places wouldnt have said and then upset customers with the wait, also not a fault of theirs but the phone signal was dead in there no idea why because it was great outside, Needs to supply and advertise a WiFi. That said, it was worth it, the food was excellent and did in fact come out well inside the 45 minutes, the staff were great and super friendly and the place is modern, clean and really nice. I would definately go back as I think this may have been teething issues.

Stopped off here after visiting my dad in Walton Garden of Remembrance for a drink. Pleasantly surprised how friendly the staff were and we opted to stay for lunch which, we all agreed was excellent and with little to no waiting for meals to be served. Meals were great and not small portions either..😁👍

Monday late lunch time asked for a guiness not available asked for their steak pie not available. Was told everything sells out over the weekend.

Service is great and they have a really good selection of drinks. Haven't eaten here but the food looks great!

Really nice local pub - however they’ve changed the menu and taken away some of the veggie items including the halloumi and chips which was delicious! Please bring this back or offer some alternative veggie items!

Held my mother's wake here and the staff where amazing especially Andy. Nothing was too much trouble. They even went above and beyond to make sure mums tipple was available to toast her. Thank you all 😊

Poor lighting at steps outside, caused wife to fall, resulting part of an ankle fracture.

Came here for a meal out. It was on one of the hottest days. Hence, it was quite hot in the bar area as the sun blazed onto it. The service was great once it got going, then the food was really tasty. The sea bass on mash was delicious. The bar area is dog friendly for food if you want.

Good food, warm plates and friendly and attentive staff. We had fish and chips and got tartare sauce in a bowl and not a sachet, which makes a change in a pub. You can now sit and eat outside. Recommended.

Very friendly staff and landlord in a spacious but traditional pub. Good range of meals at a fair price with good sized portions. Sunday lunch was good value and very tasty.

Food is reasonably priced and home made tasting, oreo cheesecake was absolutely gorgeous was the best part in my opinion One of the waitresses we had was absolutely lovely, played and interacted with the baby and was a really nice woman who was really welcoming and warm, brought me extra gravy for my roast, asked plenty of times if we needed anything else, frequently asked if we needed any drinks etc. I didn't catch her name but she was absolutely lovely. We was a large table with a large bill and there were no mistakes made, all the food was lovely, none of us had any complaints. I have two very minor criticisms -not enough gravy with the roast (but it is available upon request if you ask) and they balance everything on top of each other on the plate with the roast but the plates not big enough to move it around - they add cress/greenery to every single dish which is annoying because everyone just picks it off so feels pointless Other than those really small things it was really nice and a lovely place for a family meal. ☺️

Food was decent, not the best but still fresh and home made and all eemingly accompanied with display salad. Most of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Very nice decor and atmosphere.
