We used to visit The Parr Arms several years ago so decided to drive from Manchester for a Saturday lunch only to find it had suddenly closed without any notification - thanks !

Lovely little pub in a lovely little street. The food menu has a good selection, and came out in good time. The best thing about our experience was the service, which was really excellent. The staff were very busy but stoll did everything they could, and even relocated us when our dog was freaking out at the church bells. All the locals were lovely too. I'd absolutely recommend this pub.

Came for some early evening beers to sit outside. Furniture was worn and broken and one seat completely unusable for two people. The outside garden areas were uncared for and there were cigarette butts on the floor that had clearly been there a while. When we arrived there were also glasses on the table. However the bar was quiet and staff on more than one occasion when we walked in were ignorant and showing no politeness. A couple near us ordered food which arrived without cutlery. They had to go back and follow this up themselves. This used to be a lovely pub and appreciate it may be a one off experience but I suspect it isn't.

Where do we start how about undercooked vegetables. Been for lunch today at The Parr Arms we ordered the Cheese pie with double cooked chips, and fresh vegetables, fresh is the key word think what you mean is raw they were horrid. No doubt about it the cook doesn't use any seasoning or salt. The vegetables were raw, tasteless just like the dish of replacement vegetables you brought them also tasteless and unseasoned and microwave to death I don't care what you say they were microwaved. A total waste of a long journey and waste of £32 in total , which included £3 for half a pot of cool tea and £3:50 for a very small cappuccino , the drinks are an astronomical price not worth the price it's a total rip off pub , people must be stupid paying prices like this open your eyes for god's sake. No doubt about it we will not be returning to this place again, you might thing it's a popular place but thinking about it it's one of the only pubs around there, please think hard before you waste your money. Cheese pie was good not brilliant but just about passes, the double cooked chips very nice, staff OK, pub itself could do with good cleaning, note the two plastic bins behind the bar yuk yuk yuk........ Sorry guys 3/10 and it's only just a 3 not nice at all.

Hasn’t got the same feel to it, interior in need of some TLC and the dance music continually played isn’t fitting for a village pub in an oldie worldie village.. food average and the guy behind the bar in need of a personality transplant.

I’ve never felt so unwelcome in a pub. We often call in local dog friendly places on our walks around this neck of the woods and have sat outside before now as it’s a pretty village to view. Due to rain it’s the first time we have been inside. The atmosphere is dreadful, the bar staff are miserable and rude. The food looked lovely but we didn’t get so far as ordering, we left and won’t be going back. Considering hospitality is meant to be a leisurely experience, not forgetting £15 for a pint and a glass of wine, you might want to enjoy it. The staff made sure it was not the case. Hopefully Rams head will reopen soon. Parr arms don’t deserve custom.

What's happened to the food at the Parr arms, that picture was a halloumi burger and chips. The burger was very bland, presentation very poor and the portion of chips was ridiculous. Complaining about the chips they told us they had reduced the portion size. Very disappointing from a place that was renowned for good food. How to go from 5 starts to 1 star. Unfortunately time to try next door, very disappointing..

Not too happy with our last visit here, went with family and friends, we had pre ordered our meals, arrived about 10 mins before and sat at out table, no one came to take our drinks order so we sorted that ourselves, when prompted after about 30 mins staff came to take our order, told her we had pre ordered she looked surprised and went to find out what was happening, hot starters were served on cold plates, the mains did not arrive at the same time, 2 of our parties meals came after the rest had finished their meals( we have had an apology for this ) we had chosen from a menu that stated 3 courses for £22 or 4 courses for £27, we had the 3 courses for what we thought was £22, but the confusion was over bill they actually charged us for the 4 course meal, which we refused to pay for, because we had 3 courses, there was some confusion over the menu and the way it was set out, the staff told us the 4 courses include the mince pies and coffee, but then in the same breath they said that the mince pies and coffee were complimentary, we ended up paying more than we should have done, btw we didn't have our coffee and mince pies, so next time make sure you make it clear to your customers exactly what we are getting for our meal and what we are paying for, it's a shame really we enjoyed the meal, it's a pity the customer service is not up to scratch, as a regular visitor to this pub, I think it will be a while before we frequent this establishment again

Very disappointed with our recent visit with friends. Waited 45 minutes for our meal to be served and when it eventually arrived it wasn't good. My husband had the steak pie which was inedible as the pastry was hard and very little meat and my small portion of fish and chips was half its usual size and the price had gone up. The staff weren't very amiable either. We've eaten regularly over 55 years at the Parr and always enjoyed eating there but sadly not any more

We had pre-ordered a table for 7 and had the Christmas afternoon tea. We were very disappointed.......the sandwiches were not dainty at all as they had the crusts on. the Christmas cake slices were like slices from a supermarket. The mince pies were home made and nice. There were croissants on a plate with chocolate sauce on !!! a bit odd we thought - and they definitely were not fresh croissants so they were left. The waitress was quite rude and just brought our plates and put them on the edge of the table for us to take ourselves. They were big dinner plates - not the dainty plates that we associate with afternoon teas. We had little chocolates in the coffee cups which were nice and we ordered our tea and coffee (3 coffees and 1 tea) we were brought 1 coffee and 3 teas ! We ordered 4 afternoon teas as 4 people wanted to share, ( 2 people sharing one each) however these 4 only got the same as the two people who ordered one each. The two had the afternoon tea served between them and the other 4 had to share one of these servings between them, so we were a serving short which the waitress argued was not ordered correctly.... she did not offer to rectify this and was quite rude.. Therefore those sharing, only had 1 serving between them - so they hardly had any food. Very very disappointing for the price of £16.00

I’ll start with the good points, the food when it finally arrived was delicious - I had the lamb chops special and it was really nice. This traditional village pub which I have been visiting for 30 years was busy and decorated beautifully for Christmas. Sadly the rest of my review is negative, I came away feeling very disappointed and won’t be going back. The service was abysmal right from the start. Our party of 8 sat down at 7pm and by 7.45 I had to go looking for someone to take our order. We all ordered a main, no starters, which then took until gone 9pm to reach us. After we’d finished we sat with our empty plates on the table until gone 10pm at which point someone came to clear them away. We weren’t asked if we wanted desserts or any more drinks. By the time the table was finally cleared most of the staff had packed up and gone home. Again we had to go and find someone to pay. Really shocking service, such a shame as I normally love the Parr Arms but won’t be going back any time soon.

Excellent stop here for a cracking Sunday lunch. The food is very very good - go for the Turkey and beef Sunday lunch - it’s epic. And the veg just adds to the whole meal. Well cooked, nicely presented and tasty with a capital T! Alison our server was fantastic- very funny jokes and a really great person who added to the overall experience! Very reasonably priced - with two rounds of drinks for four people the total bill was only around £125 - £30 a head and that includes some wonderful puds. We haven’t eaten here for a good few years and will not be rushing back. Understandably we had our 2 dogs with us so was asked to sit in the bar. The bar area is so scruffy. The bench seat was taped together. The wooden surrounds were all flaking and in need of a good sanding and painting. There were no staff behind the bar for a good 10 minutes. We were told 35 minutes wait on food, but waited close to an hour. Only saw 3 staff in the whole place. Given its half term week I would have expected extra staff. It looked like a funeral party was arriving as we left. I have no idea how they will cope with that with so few staff. Food was also mediocre for the average £17 main course price. Not impressed at all. Used to be such a nice place 🤷🏼♀️
